[Q] Custom Sense 4.1 missing parts - HTC Sensation

Hi, looking after about my problem but can't find a proper answer for it.
I got Sensation, unlocked bootloader, s-off, 1.29.000 hboot and installed 3.33 firmware.
My problem is, that installed many custom sense 4.1 ROMs in the past few days. In every ROM I miss almost every HTC related
widgets, programs. Cleared the sense cache as many threads mentioned, restarted the phone many times, installed without wiping the ROM again but the same result. I was able to install properly a sense 3.6 ROM without missing component.
If anyone knows whats the trick I would be very happy and thankfull. Cheers

Did you use the ROM cleaner?
If you didn't. What 4.1 ROM are you using?
You SHOULD be and is RECOMMENDED to wipe device when flashing rom, using the 1 button wipe on 1ext rec.
Then install ROM. (I'll use ViperS for reference now)
Once booted into ROM.
Get into widget selection page, the part saying "all widget", press it and switch to HTC related widget, it should be there.

Thank you for your fast reply. I tried to follow what you said.
Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache/dalvik, format all partitions except sd
Then installed DarkSense ROM 1.2.3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1999915
Ran the ROM cleaner to have sense on the phone.
What I get is almost no widgets, in applications no sms, mail, clock, weather. In the installer only checked HTC releated apps and widgets.
Very strange, didn't saw things like this. Did I miss something? I had many HTC phones, now I got the Sensation and now have trouble.
Thanks in advance

I finally find one good sense 4.1 ROM, the Elegancia http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429953.
Also tried Viper as you mentioned, and CommuniSation, neither was working.
Didn't get jet whats the difference in these ROMs, why one is working properly and other 3 not. Also reflashed the firmware, but didn't helped for Viper/Dark/CommuniSation ROMs.
If anyone knows what other ROMs need that Elegancia not please share with me. Maybe the problem is with my device and had to be replaced.
Thanks

buddy, you should clear htc sense's "DATA" not cache! it certainly works, as mine did

that pretty "thanks" button's waiting for u if I helped
Sent from a shaken up HTC Sensation XE using...whatever! differs?!

Hey, thanks for reply, but tried that too. In apps found htc sense and cleared data, restarted but all the same. Strange thing is that with Elegancia ROM works well.

[Q] Phone shuts down.

My phone shuts down all by it's self once or twice a day. It occurs on multiple roms. I really want to find out why. Can someone tell me how I can log wat happens?
Since I don't know when and why it shuts down I would likely need a logger wich writes to a log file so I can look back what the problem is.
I suspect it to be a hardware problem... (Don't hope so but it happens on multiple roms)
Thanks everybody
What kernels have been used with the roms?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
The used kernels were default kernels of the roms I used. Problem started wen using CM7 alpha. and now using Android Revolution with Faux123

You don't have it in any other ROM?
I had the same problem before, I changed my kernel to bricked 0.91 and the problems are gone now.
I'm downloading Insertcoin rom now. I'll report back if the problem still occurs.

Change kernels. Go from 1.5ghz to 1.2 via daemon controller or another CPU adjuster.
The bricked 0.91 also fixes most issues too as stated above

Before you suspect Hardware.. Check first your software.. I'f i were you, i'll back up all my roms.. full / super wipe, then check it on by one.. lets say IC for first 2 days then ARHD on the 3nd-4th day.. If it does not shut down, it only means one thing, its not HARDWARE, it can be software.. Check also your chosen Kernel on your flashed ROM.. there might be an incompatibility running multiple different roms and kernels..
hope i'd help.. click thanks if i enlighten you so far..
Okay, I'm back from a weekend away.
What I did before I went away (Friday afternoon) is:
- Reboot to Recovery
- Wipe cache, wipe dalvik, wipe data
- install zip: Super-wipe (just to be sure)
- Install zip: InsertCoin 3.3.0
- install zip: InsertCoin 3.3.1
It all went well until Saturday evening. It was off when I got it out of my pocket. i tried to turn it on and it booted up. If it is on there is no problem at all. It stays on all the time...... Until I unlock my sim with my personal code. 2 seconds atfter that the phone turns off...
Since the problem reoccurred I tried the following things:
- Wipe cache, reboot (problem still exists)
- Wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, reboot (problem still exists)
- Wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe data, reboot (problem still exists)
- Wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe data, Super-Wipe, re-install rom, reboot (problem still exists)
Is there a way to test the hardware to rule it out? The problem occurred in three different roms and got worse. I really can't see how this could be a software problem.
I'm now going to download the latest stock rom and see what happens...
I had the same problem I'm on tmobile sensation 4g in the us and I think all us sensations have the problem... When I was using any rom that was based on the experimental sense 3.5 base my phone would turn off/crash I tried all different Roms but the problem still occured, I though about it and installed revolution hd with sense 3.0 and still on the old base and the problem is gone. I'm waiting for the official release of the new sense 3.5. Hope it helps
I had the problem on 3.5 and non 3.5 based roms. CM7, Android revolution XE, android revolution sense 3.5 and Insert Coin XE sense 3.5. The last one I mentioned was the worst and I even couldn't get past the security code.
I now installed a shipped Rom. Let's see what happens.
In my first post I asked if there was a log file in which I can see why it shuts down. can anyone shed a light on that?

I am having the same problems. I tried all of the same roms you have tried and as of last week I have decided to unroot my phone and return it to stock rom and recovery. after a week I am still getting the same random reboots. the only non stock part of my phone is that it is still S-Off, but I think im going to have to learn how to put stock S-On and go yell at the T-mobile guys to see if I can get a new phone.
If you can come up with anything better I would be willing to try it. the reboots are killing me.
This issue sucks. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has it though lol. I've also gone back to stock rom, no root/S-ON etc. Just to rule out the possibility that it's something funky going on with custom roms, kernels etc. So far I do still have random shutdowns, possibly a little less than I did before, but still there nonetheless. To get S-ON again, flash the RUU appropriate for your phone, then get into fastboot and type
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
and then
fastboot reboot-bootloader
More on all this is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201773
As far as logs to track down what is going on, I think it might be in lastkmsg. Unfortunately I don't know exactly where to find that or what to look for exactly.
And as stated twice before me, the problem still exists. I'm going to undo all changes to the Sensation and see what happens. If the problem is still there the phone will go back for warranty.
And again my old trustworthy HD2 saves the day as a backup...
I've never experience having a reboot with a super wipe then flashing a custom rom.. i do it almost everyday.. maybe its already a hardware since software installation (roms, and kernels) are clean when you do the flashing.. Has your phone experience some accidents? like fell on the ground?
Not that I know of.
I'm not new to flashing and I'm a real flashoholic. Nothing ever went wrong with flashing. Where other people would have problems with a certain ROM I could always enjoy the Rom without trouble.
I installed the eu version of the shipped roms. the problem seems to be different again. Nof it shuts down far less then before but I have to pull the battery to get it to boot up again.
I hope I have enough time today to S-on the phone. Does anybody know if the box states which version number it was shiped with? I know it's EU but there are different version numbers. (or is that not impotant)
Thanks for your help everybody.
I think the problem is the battery. I bought a new battery, the evo3d batery and so far I have not had this issue again.
Problem is solved. I got a free board swap and now everything is working again. So it was a hardware defect.
Thanks for the help all.

[Q] Speed and stability: Stock vs Custom ROM

Hello,
Ever since the latest update from HTC to Desire S I have been thinking about unlocking, rooting and flashing custom a ROM into my Desire S. I have been reading in this forum to get information if its possible after the last update and also if it would be worth it. It would seem that the easiest way is to unlock the bootloader with HTCdev.com and then continue with the backup and flashing of a new ROM. Can anyone confirm this method?
I've of course heard the arguments that the custom ROMs use less battery and are more stable but when I read through the forum I always manage to find people having problems with connectivity and battery life, even in the latest CyanogenMod ROMs. This makes me a bit hesitant to make the step into a life of custom ROMs since I dont want to get there and realising that my original phone worked better. So can someone confirm that they custom ROMs actually are better in any of the following critera:
- Stability
- Speed
- Battery efficiency
Secondly I would like some tips about good ROMs for the Desire S. Of what I've managed to find out CynaogenMod seems like a good choice. MIUI seems to look to much like iOS for my taste. And I'm not sure that I want or need a Sense ROM, I am currently having a hard time figuring out why sense is something I should use. How stable are the latest Sense 3.5 ROMs vs. CynaogenMod?
I will be very grateful for any thoughts and tips, especially if you are a noob like me. I have only ever jailbroken an iPhone 3G and that process was extremely easy and seems to differ quite a bit from unlocking, rooting and flashing an Android phone.
Thanks,
Andreas

The best advice I can give you is, try it yourself
After unlocking the bootloader and flashing a custom recovery, you can backup your current rom, to revert back to it whenever you want.
Most (if not even all) custom roms are faster and have a lighter battery consumption then the stock. The stability depends on how "fresh" a rom is. But all 3 creteria are not carved in stone, battery drain is often deppending on which user you are. As poweruser you won't see much difference, cause the battery cosumption advantage is at idle.
Stability is in most common more or less only depending on the rom, but if you use root apps in beta or alpha state there also can be freezes or reboots.
When it comes to speed, the question is, do you want to overclock it or maybe underclock,...
You see there are many possibilities^^
I personaly like cyanogen most, it's fast, stable and has no bloat, but it's not as eyecandy as sense and the standard apps are unfortunatly not as handy as the sense ones, but there are many replacments at the market^^
The difference between Stable and nightly is that the stable release is tested, the nightly rolls out almost every day and is build by an bot. They are released after building it, the tests for them are made by people like me who want to have the latest source with latest features^^
Regards
EDIT:
Maybe this [GUIDE] Complete tutorial for beginners... and this [GUIDE] Maximum Battery - Maximizing your battery life with CM7 ROM could be interesting for you, also take a look at the [INDEX][02 NOV 11] ROMS/RECOVERY/ROOT/HBOOT/RADIOS/TWEAKS/GUIDES/etc thread.
Have to agree with Tectas there... there is no perfect ROM. If there was, everybody would be using the same ROM and there wouldn't be so many different ROMs out there. Your personal opinion about a ROM will bias you towards it eventually, but to get to that stage you have to try out a couple of different platforms to allow you to make a mental picture of what you want in a ROM and which ROMs give you that...
If you want suggestions, then you should try out at least 5 categories of ROMs:
1. AOSP : Stock gingerbread. Vanilla UI. No bells and whistles, just the OS the way google built it.
2. CyanogenMod. No introductions required here. Google is your friend. (And YouTube)
3. MIUI (its looks very different from both the other builds, but you can skin it to death and it has a pretty big fan community behind it). Minus all the bloatware, fast and good battery life...and possibly the best stock music player of the lot - except maybe the Sense 3.5 player with beats audio(untouched).
Again, personal tastes - apples and oranges.
4. Sense 3 Official ported ROMs : Most popular ones currently are by Lowveld and Proxuser, tweaked to perfection. Stock pre-rooted ROMs are also available, but then there's nothing custom about them. Excellent lockscreen, beautiful animations and transitions, smooth UI and groundbreaking social network integration throughout the OS. The most functional, bug free and battery friendly one is Hyperion. (personal opinion). Added bonus is that the customer support is awesome!! (general opinion)
5. Sense 3.5 Official ported ROMs : The latest addition to our phone, skimmed off the newer HTC devices like the Sensation XL (aka Runnymede) and Bliss. These are the best looking (subjective) and have amazing functionality and built in widgets. The most notable here, with absolutely no issues at all is the Endymion ROM, by lowveld. Proxuser also has a Runny port for the Desire S, but there are unresolved issues on that one. Prox is a great developer and i'm sure he'll come around to solving them soon.
Why you would buy a HTC phone if you don't want Sense is something that completely eludes my tiny brain. But for those that want a non-sense ROM (has a ring to it, doesn't it) there's AOSP, and MIUI, Cyanogen. In the Sense corner, are the Official HTC ROM ports, both Sense 3 and 3.5.
You'll have to try them out on your own to see what tickles you in the right way...
DISCLAIMER: I am human. I have opinions. They may be wrong.
I have answered this question at length for the benefit of those looking for opinions, and speaking the universal truth is beyond my capabilities. So please don't be offended by any comments about any ROMs above. In their own little way, each is a little better than the other. It's called choice. We all have it... (Well, at least the ROOTED ones!! )
EDIT: Info corrected. Thanks to Tectas.

Sry, but cyanogen got nothing to do with sense, it's pure aosp
And why someone uses it, cause it's damn fast and the first official place to get updates or are there any sense roms with gingerbread 2.3.7 ?
And you can also set the hell out of it.
Ah and btw miui is based on cyanogen

Because HTC have the best build quality and they're damn sexy
Thanks all for the answers. I have now tried to flash a custom ROM, the stable version of CynaogenMod to be more precise.
I say "tried" since it didnt work. I managed to unlock the bootloader with HTCDev.com. I also managed to install Clockworkmod and root the phone. And made a backup. And it all worked. But when I installed the ROM I got stuck on the HTC logo. So I restored the backup. And it worked.
So Im happy that the phone works but Im irritated that I couldn't install the ROM. I read something about HTCDev not unlocking kernel, only system partition, can that be the case? I will just make a list of all the steps I have taken and maybe someone can help me figure out what I did wrong =)
1. Unlock bootloader with HTCDev. It says unlocked. I still have HBOOT 2.00.0002. Is that a problem?
2. Used fastboot to install ClockworkMod. Worked great.
3. Used ClockworkMod recovery to install SuperUser I believe its called. The icon showed up in the apps drawer.
4. Used ClockworkMod "install zip from sd card" to install the CynaogenMod zip. Like described on CynMods wiki. No error that I remember.
5. Reboot and stuck on HTC logo. Does not show up when using "adb devices" and charging light does not light up when connecting the phone to the charger.
6. Press and hold Volume up + Volume Down + Power to reboot/shutdown phone and pulled battery when it went black.
7. Power down + Power to boot into recovery. Restore backup.
8. Rooted again since backup was taken before root. Superuser is back in the app drawer.
9. Wut should I dooo? =)
Thanks for any help. Its hard to find the right answers sometimes even using google and forums search.
edit: HTC seems to make pretty solid and affordable phones. With a UI thats at least okey. Thats why I bought it =) But Im a tech guy and likes to try new things (and also hates that skins does not work on latest Desire S update) so now Im venturing into the dark lands of custom ROMs... =))
When toy flash a new ROM you have to wipe data and cache. Especially when the ROM is as different as the cyanogen from the previous one
Swyped from my HTC Desire S
I have wiped Data and Cache. I have not touched the "dalvik cache" or whatever it is called.
This is the text I followed:
"Select the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
Then select the option to Wipe cache partition.
Select Install zip from sdcard.
Select Choose zip from sdcard.
Select the CyanogenMod update.zip."
It would seem that the HTCDev.com unlock is not as good as the revolutionary version... Seems a couple of other guys have had the same problem.
Dalvik is the virtual machine where the Android apps run in.
Ok, damn. Sry I have no experience with the the htcdev unlocking procedure, I used xtc-clip, cause when I got mine there even were no possibility to unlock with revolutionary^^ Maybe try revolutionary or a custom sense ROM, but without the advantage of a custom kernel your experience could be the half.
Edit: I'm just wondering, cause only system can't be true, recovery has also it own partition.
Swyped from my HTC Desire S
The revolutionary method is not viable for me since I have HBOOT 2.<something> from the latest Desire S update. I tried a method from another trhead about EVO that was supposed to make flashing work after unlocking with HTCDev but with the same result: just showing the HTC logo. I am now restoring my backup again.
And I dont really know if I should clear dalvik cache since the guides dont mention that.
The tip I tried was in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17219728&postcount=292
You can downgrade your hboot to use revolutionary, it works with htcdev unlocked, the thread is also somewhere here.
You can try to wipe Dalvik cache, but a cache wipe should also include that.
Edit: The downgrade guide is at the index thread i linked before

Your Device Still S-On and you have to Get S-Off Procedure because HTCDev.com just unlock boot loader i believe
Edit Take A Look
Why is my security still on (S-On) after I have unlocked my bootloader?
Your device is shipped with Security on (S-ON) to protect your system software configuration (such as the bootloader, radio, boot, recovery, system and others). After you have unlocked the bootloader, however, you will have lifted the restrictions on boot, recovery and system. This means you can customize boot, recovery and system images on your phone as you desire. You can easily see that you have successfully unlocked the bootloader by looking at the top of the screen when entering the bootloader screen. Security is left on to protect things like the radio, and SIM lock.
i hope this helps You

Random reboot nomatter what i do ??

Hi sensation forum...
I am new to sensation, but not new to android or HTC, as i have 4 different phones with custom firmware on them...
But the sensation give me a lot of problems for some reason...
I have tried ARHD 5.0.2 and Insert Coin 4.0.4, i have also tried Virtuous Inquisition v1.3.0 and HyperSensation CM7.1 v1.2.
The last one is not even ICS based...
All of them give me random reboot cycles...
I have tried 3 different radios also...
Nothing have helped me so far...
I still have a lot of random reboots...
(about every 2-10 min)
When i flash the firmware i use ARHD´s super delete script, but to be shure, i also format everything from within Recovery...
What more can i do here ??
Pleace,if your phone is stable, can you tell me exactly what rom/radio/kernal/ril you use...
My phone was rock stable with factory firmware....
Hey,
When installing roms on the sensation, make sure you follow the guides in the particular thread. It is also important to match recommended radios and rils that go with the specific rom. Make sure you are S-off and cid 11111111. When you are switching roms, you should only have to run the superwipe script, it will set all the partitions for you so that you can flash the rom you choose. Also, before you install ICS, it is recommended that you superwipe BEFORE installing the actual rom to prevent unwanted isssues. Before you do anything else, give me a rundown on what you are currently running.

I have exactly this issue.
I installed ICS Revolution. I had successfully got S-OFF, Installed ClockWork Recovery (updated to latest version), permanently Rooted & obtained SuperCID. I updated radio as recommnded by mike1986 in the ICS post, and wiped the phone with Revolution Super_wipe_Sensation first.
It seemed to run fine apart from Doplhin HD which refused to run properly (so switched to Opera Mobile). However I started to get random reboots.
After a bit I thought to try Insert Coin ICS instead.
I have noticed no real difference in performance and have the identical issue with Dophin HD (back to Opera mobile again).
However I also still have the identical random rebooting issue with this ROM. What else can I do?

I have tried to swipe everything, have the latest radio and recommended fw and keep getting these crashes. Not only it's driving me nuts but it makes the phone unuseable... I can't believe we're just 2 to have these problems... Isn't there some king of log we can pull to see what's causing the crash ?

I suspect it has to do with processor speed that's been tweaked in these roms, but can't seem to find a way to tune it back to stock on the ICS rom...
sorry for the late reply, been busy with holiday stuff.. anyhow, make sure you are NOT installing any mods that are not compatible with the current ICS build. I have had no problems switching between ARHD 3.6.10 and ICS 5.0.2. As long as you have s-off and CID 1111111, you should be good to go. When I changed up from 3.6.10 to ICS 5.0.2, I turned off my phone, went into bootloader, selected the option for recovery, then flashed the superwipe script. After it finished flashing that, it rebooted back into recovery. Following that, I went to install from zip, flashed the updated RUU, cleared cache and dalvik, then flashed ICS 5.0.1 and the 5.0.1 to 5.0.2 update. Everything installed smooth from there.

That's exactly what I did. Can't find anything different between your story and what's I did, up to when I switched to Insert Coin
I also don't think it's related to CPU speed. My phone is the XE model which ran at 1.5 Ghz on stock ROM and only did about 3 random reboots in 3 months; (now it's every couple of hours).

I'm doing a full restore and then reinstall. We'll see what happens.

Good luck. Hope it helps. Let us know the outcome. My nandroid backup is corrupted so will need to do full wipe of my SD card and phone I think. Then add in a stock ROM

I'm still getting the reboot on the nand backup (OrangeFR), this sucks big time. Now I'm thinking it may be due to the fw I had to install to use AHRD (PG58IMG) and the new radio. This is where I'm lost. How can I return everything to standard ? If I understand well the ROM doesn't contain those files, they are separate ?
Was thinking that my random reboots were radio or firmware related.
Strange thing is mine have stopped, and all I did was reinstall revolution ICS 5.0.1 then upgrade to 5.0.2. Didn't even wipe first. So even my apps & settings all of which I had installed & configured since I had installed Insert Coin ICS, are all still there. Haven't had a reboot since.

I switched back to ARHD 3.6.9, did a factory reset+wipe, flashed radio 10.59 and all is fine, I'm somehow reluctant to try again...
I found a solution that worked for me... At last...
I am REALLY sorry that i didn´t answer here before, but i have been really bussy, and actually forgot all about it a few days....
NOW, i also thought that i had some CPU spped issue with the roms, becource i can actually get the same kind of reboot problems on my DHD when i run it over 1500 Mhz...
So i thought that i would lock my sensation to max 900 mhz, and then see what happens... NO change... Still random reboot... Strange...
I then installed a Android 2.3 rom, just to get my phone running again... STILL random reboots...
hmmm....
Now i was confused...
At last i tried to flash a different radio one more time...
I found a radio in some other sensation thread... Flashed it and now my phone works stable...
At least with Virtuos Inquisition 1.3.0... (Proberbly the 1.4.0 will also work, but i have not tried it yet...)
The Radio i had the problems with is the one from mike´s thread...
I actually don´t know why, as i have allways had great success with his roms and his releases on my DHD...
The Radio i use now is 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035-02_2...
But sorry, i can´t remember from what thread...
Ok, this is what i have discovered on this reboot issue...
I hope it make some sense, and that this perhaps can help other with the same problems...
Try turning your phone to recovery.Backup if you havent already....Wipe Data/Factory reset then turn the phone off....
Remove the back cover and the SDCARD.Turn the phone back on and see if it runs ok without the SDCARD, if it does reformat the sd using 4ext recovery and it will also align it.
I spoke too soon.
My phone didn't reboot for a day after I switched back to Revolution ICS 5.0.2 for about a day, then today it began doing random reboots every few minutes. I had not changed any software, just the area (which might have changed signal and frequency the cell tower uses). So I figured it was time to change firmware and radio.
I had previously (prior to installing custom ICS ROM) flashed the radio to 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2 as recommended by Mike1986 in the Revolution HD ICS thread, and had HBoot 1.7.1111 on my device.
I then downloaded the firmware he posted on his thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
This has put the phone back to HBOOT 1.20.0000 and radio 11.15.3504.16_M
Now it's working well and no reboots yet.
Here's hoping.. time will tell.
No matter what radio or Rom combo I get random ass reboots
Super annoying. I did notice the battery goes from 100% to 10% during this reboot
I have calibrated battey. Wiped stats. I'm lost.
I have even tried a new battery. Wtf. Any ideas?
i cant even flash stock ruu I get a 171 error!!!!
Im gonna throw this phone at the f-ing wall in a min
if you flashed newest radio 11...x.x..., you have to have newest hboot also (1.20.. , i guess). otherwise, you will get random reboot. I had this issue before, and i just flashed order radio( i don't want to update hboot version). problem is solved

That's certainly consistent with my experience.
Since the changes I made as per my previous post, I've not had a single random reboot

Constant Random Reboots

Hello!
So there is this annoying thing that's been going on since I firstly rooted my phone and started flashing ROM's, radios etc.
I've been using only ARHD ROM's since they have a great reputation, haven't tried others.
So, I started with ARHD 3.6.x ROM's and now I'm on the latest 6.2.1. XE ( No OC ).
So the problem for me all through my experience with my phone, is getting random reboots at mostly no specific times.
The most common is in this situation:
The phone is just sitting nicely in my pocket, I feel that somebody is calling me. I take the phone out of the pocket, want to answer by unlcoking the phone and ding! it just crashes.
When I turn it on, the random reboots just won't stop until I give the phone a rest and don't use it for a while. Because after a random reboot the reboots just keep on coming, if I use the phone.
This also happens when I just take the phone out of my picket and try to unlock it.
So, mostly it reboots when I try to unlock it.
This just makes the phone unreliable and many times people can't call me because I have no idea that it has crashed in my pocket.
I've been hoping that it would stop with the next version of ARHD but it didn't. The problem keeps comming back.
So I wanted to know: Is there any way to see, what is the soul purpose of those crashes? Is there anyway it's curable? Because I don't know if it's the HW or the SW. When I had stock everything and no root, these problems were not present.
My setup:
* Super CID
* Firmware from 3.24.401.1 & 3.25.401.101 RUU
* Android Revolution HD 6.2.1 XE
* Radio: 11.68.3504.00U_11.21.3504.13_2
* Kernel ( from about info ): 3.0.16-g5e58c5e [email protected] #1
* Any other info you need to help me fully?
the kernel could be the problem...try not to use it and see if it happens again..however i suggest to you to flash the insertcoin rom cause it is the best ics rom out there...trust me try it and you will not be disappointed
I have the same problem with all ROMs, including stock, except for the Virtuous Quattro alphas which I was able to run 20 days straight without a crash (impossible with other ROMs). Also the battery readings after a crash is weird, dropping from eg. 60% before the crash, down to 5% when booting after a crash. I contacted HTC about this and they told me it's probably a faulty mainboard. So I'm planning on sending it back in a few months.
I have the same problem with all sense roms GB and ICS its really frustrating I've had it for some time already

Today I will try virtuous_quattro_alpha3_pyramid. If it's too buggy, will try the Inqusition. And if I still have any problem, give the InsertCoin a try. Will post my findigs as I get them.
Any idea what kernel to use? Which is the most stable?
not sure but crashes may have something to do with your applications being in sdcard. i have moved all my applications to phone memory (though i don't have many) and i have not had a forced reboot after that. also super-smooth/ultra-smooth rosie helped, with this tweak my phone is really fast now.
using leedroid rom.
If the phone didn't reboot on stock then it's a firmware/software issue - go back to fully stock and see if the problem still occurs.
If not then start from scratch and make sure the checksums match the downloaded file before you install then, especially the firmware and radio file.
From my hd2 days you might first try setting your network manually, as I did hear that even native Android phones can reset during auto network selection.
So now I am on Virtuos Inqusition and the reboots still occur. It's frustrating.
And ONLY when I take my phone out of my pocket to see what time is it.
So I met a guy who is on all stock, without root etc. and he's getting the same issues.
Anyone else having this problem?
Could it really be the HW fault?
Or still could just be because an official ICS ROM for the Sensation hasn't come out yet?
Full wiped?
Did you full wiped it before you upgraded to the latest verison? In many cases reason for reboots are kernel and/or cache related. So maybe something which is still in your cache could bring that output. Another possibility is when you restore apps and settings from System Tuner or Titanium backup. As you are using stock kernel I don't think it should be the problem generator.
1. Do a nandroid backup
2. Full wipe with Mike's script
3. Fresh install ICS rom you like (I'm using Insertcoin 4.5.4 + Ultrasmooth Rosie)
4. Check MD5
5. install custom ROM
6. Don't restore settings/apps from Google.
7. Don't restore apps/settings from Titanium etc...
Just try to use your phone without all your apps installed for a short time.
Good Luck, hope it helps...
Yes, I always Super-Wipe before a fresh install.
But I will re do everything, installing only the timetable for buses - addicted to that app.
Can I restore contacts from google or should that wait for a while?
Update
So, it's been a while that I've been using Virtous Inqusition with Google sync and nothing else. The original problem still exists, Could this be a HW issue?
I don't really want to go all stock to loose SuperCID and everything else.
So, I guess I have to stick with this problem and leave my Sensation unreliable.

Do a full wipe and reflash the ROM also wipe the battery stats and perhaps try a different kernel maybe one closer to stock frequency

[Q] Phone not ringing CM9 XE

Hello all,
I have a HTC Sensation XE with beats audio running Cyanogenmod 9.1.0
I've had this ROM for about a week or 2 and had no problems with it but not my phone won't ring, sometimes it will vibrate tho.
I updated to the latest nightly build earlier to see if this would fix it but to no avail.
I have checked all settings and my phone is set to loud with ringing & vibrate.
Even when I go to choose a ringtone it used to preview the tone for me but now it doesn't even do that.
I can play music through the speaker and everything else works fine but the ringtone for calls and texts.
Can anyone please help me, thanks in advance!
Hi there, have you tried doing a FULL wipe and reinstalling the Rom ? Download could have got corrupted somehow. If you do this make it a clean install with full wipe. If that does not work you might be forced to go to another Rom. You might want to flash another Rom just to make sure phone will ring with that. Just to check. If it's not ringing with another Rom its a different issue within the device itself. If it does ring with different Rom it's likely related to the Rom you flashed. Do some experiments and see what this stems from. Rom or device. If its Rom related try the clean install. If that won't work as I said you will likely be forced to use a new Rom until the issue is worked out. I hope this helps out. Best wishes

Thanks for your reply!
When you say clean wipe, do you mean super wipe?
When I reinstalled my rom earlier I just did a dalvik wipe using ROM manger to install the rom.
Do I need to do a date wipe also?
