Limit http download speed - General Questions and Answers

This must be more of a general topic, so i'm posting this here even though i've put it in the sg3 thread (dont hate me plz).
I need to limit the download speed when downloading stuff from the web with my favourite browser, cuz if i dont the internet connection will be all clogged up for the rest of my family. So i want to download slower. I have root. Anybody know any app that can limit all http download connections (just like it happens with torrent clients)?

there is also dTor i havent had sucess with it downloading big (300+mb) torrents with high ammount of seeders (1k+) it seems to be buged at 15 connections it opens max but small torrents work very well
Swarm works just perfect!
100% the best.
try that!
swarm doesnt work for me - tried two different connections
dtor uninstalled got a widget for data transfers tried a piratbay torrent 350mb 300users
after having a combined data transfer of 3gb down 590mb up the torrent wasent done
will try swarm
Andtorrent works really good, but for some strange reason you cant directly download your files to the micro sd memorycard

Swarm works for me too, evwn on files as big as 3 gig. It is resource hungry though and using the tab whilst it is downloading isnt recommended.
However it works and ive got up to 3MBPs download speeds with it.

Andtor works for me especially if the program stays in the foreground. When it's running in the background the download speeds tend to slow down to a crawl or stop all together. Downloading directly to micro sd also works. You just have to specify the directory in settings.

andtor again, works awesome for me

I use SWARM.
guys try tTorrent, its amazing. no complaints from anyone so far.
If you don't mind running your bt client on a separate server/machine, Transdroid works great for remotely adding new torrents and for doing some remote management.

Web server backup thingy?

I don't even know if what I want to do can be done in normal circumstances let alone on my phone... what I want to do is create a mirror of my website and host it on my phone (i know this can be done). But is there a way to make it automatically takeover if my main web server goes down so ppl can still goto the normal url but out will access my phone instead?

Will Google dns speed up internet?

Saw this linked to on Facebook. Wondering if its true.
http://htcdev.net/topic/229295-download-flashable-google-dns-zip/
Can anyone verify this is safe and works. Thanks

DNS won't give you faster internet per se, if your phone gets the ip address of the website it's requesting back faster than your phone can start downloading the page maybe some miliseconds sooner, but that'd be the only benefit....
can anyone attach the zip here?
Don't have an facebook acc .-.

Well I would think the easiest way for you to download that data is to connect to WiFi. Either your own or maybe at like a Starbucks or McDonalds. It's usually pretty easy to find a hotspot.
Otherwise there is this old method that lets you download the data from a computer. I'm not sure if it works anymore though.

Require A Soulution
Can this software change my IP address continuously after a specific time without disturbing my browsing speed?
this is basically the service provided by freevpnsoftware.net, so please give them the credit they deserve
for more info about the service, go to their site and read, I'm not sure what their data-retention policy is, and like one of the posters said : be VERY careful, everything you enter (logins, information...etc) goes through their servers, so don't trust them easily
I am already using a perfect VPN software on my android device without any problems, high connection speed, high stability, total privacy and security. I am totally satisfied with its quality and price.
Link request
i have a froyo device that i am interested in trying this but the links seem to be dead so if anyone could please post a link i would appreciate it
