Here is an article from gsmarena "HTC sales continue to plummet in February"
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_sales_continue_to_plummet_in_february-news-5654.php
I little disagree with the writers opinion that the drop is hardware related, as we all said several times before- it's only support related, or should i say "lack of support"?
HTC releases to many phones. HTC one x than one x+ than HTC one. All flagship devices in one year. They need to follow Samsung and apple. Release one great phone each year and support it for at least 2 to 4 years. What HTC does is release one phone and than 3 months later release a new one and drop the support for the old phone. That is why my next phone will not be the HTC any more.

Exactly! it's just nice to see their stocks and rates going down... not as fun as to see apple's stocks going down but still nice enough :victory:
Hi,
Samsung is also producing many new phones every year.
The problem with HTC had been their poor marketing and poor after sales support.
The 2012 One series have been poor marketed, with an awful wallpaper. Also quite overpriced compared with Samsung devices.
The performance of HTC devices has also not been the best. Our devices have always been shower than Samsung (in stock condition)
My next device will probably be a Nexus. I'm really tired of waiting forever for an update.
HTC should consider giving the option to buy a device running an AOSP Rom.

Now we are blaming HTC's woes on their wallpaper for the One series? What's next? LOL

Yeah, all good any dandy except now I have a reason to be envious of people with the newer phones
Good news.... It won't be a hassle rooting future phones.

Unfortunately the first shipment of that phone will most likely still have a locked bootloader :-(
Maybe HTC will give us the key tho?¿?¿

HTC is now the manufacturer to beat. Who else provides such a great product all the while supporting the customer/development communities. HTC is going to have many Motorola and Samsung converts. The Sensation (maybe not first gen) is looking better and better.
I was an HTC fan from day one.. now I will never even THINK of buying another mfg's phone.
HTC YOU RULE
Guys I am planning to buy a new phone. I want your suggestions about choosing the right one. I am relying on good battery life and phone which has a good amount of development going on (custom roms, kernels, miui, cyanogenmod, ics etc.) coz I love to fiddle with devices a lot. My current choices are :
Samsung galaxy R
Samsung galaxy S plus
HTC Desire S
HTC Incredible S
These are my options but senior members can suggest me phone in range of 23000 INR ($475).
Thanks in advance guys

Isn't Galaxy Nexus coming to India soon? It definitely has those things (though battery life preferred with custom kernel) and is probably of choice (until the new quadcores come out in a few months anyway) for tinkering. But I'm not sure you can get it for $475, unless they offer it more cheaply there. I got mine for $550ish, and that's considered cheap here.

Yup. But $550 is costly for me. Already pushing my limits for my said price range

Umm.. If you look for design and Sense UI, go for HTC. But if you want a performance device then I would suggest Samsung R or S Plus.
Thought for 23k you can even get Optimus 2x or Optimus 3D.
But if your just gonna stick with Samsung and HTC. I would suggest Samsung for the performance. No wonder HTC's Sense UI is far better than any other device out there but its just your decision whether wanna go with Design and Looks or Performance and Built Quality!
have a look at the new Htc series One,
HTC One X, HTC One S and HTC One V
DEFINITELY GALAXY S III!!

2 years ago, I prefer 3.7" phones to 4.3" phones. But now, 3.7" and 4.3" seem too small for me. Just try it first and you'll like it and even want a bigger one. Anyway, the 4.8" screen was rumoured to have a 16:9 aspect ratio.

I see. For that price, you might consider the HTC Sensation. I think the HTC Rezound occasionally gets that low (say with special promotions), but I can't find any at this moment.
I'm not familiar with any of the "cheaper" manufacturers (Huawei or the like) but it might be something to look into.
If your not in a hurry to get a phone. I would suggest you too wait for like till April or May. There are like 20+ phones getting launched by then.
HTC's One series are gonna be available globally by April. Even LG, Samsung, Sony has launched some new phones and they all comes with ICS 4.
So you may wait for sometime and I bet its worth waiting for.

That's actually a good point. Old phones usually take a price dip when their successor comes out. The HTC Rezound is sure to take one when the One X comes out, for instance, similarly for the Samsung Galaxy S2 when the S3 comes out.
So if you can wait, I'm going to speculate that those phones might dip down into your (OP's) price range. (But you should allow for a margin of error ).
If I were you, I would check the forum on what phone has the most development ... That way, you can have a lot of Rom choices hehehe

I'd like to know why too.
I've got my HTC desire for ~two years and never had any problems. + there are a lot of roms for the device.
Among your choices I'd go for the HTC Desire S.
My girlfriend is due for an upgrade she is currently on T-Mobile.
Was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on which is a better phone, the HTC One S or the Galaxy S2?
Not really comparable
The One S by a mile IMHO, simply because its so much more compact and efficient
A very nice posting from my brick
Still looking for other peoples thoughts on these 2 devices
Switch carriers and get the one x

HTC one s, way sexy, plus you get beats and ics pre-installed.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
I think its personal user opinion. I have only ever used HTC and Samsung devices so for me it's like comparing green apples to yellow apples. Find display models and play with them for a while, see what feels better, which one has what you need from a phone. My girlfriend and almost everyone I know has and loves the iPhone but i really cant stand them. So you/she has to decide for yourself/herself.

LMAO!! True! But she is still in contract....
it all depends if you like sense, but if you're asking based solely on the phones i would go with the one s since its htc flagship device now and its one day old. in addition the one s is likely to get updated while the gs2 has already been upgraded from gingerbread to ics
I think you should get the One X and she should get the One S...but don't take my word for it.
HTC all the way
HTC customer support is fantastic. They also have very good UI's. Hands down, you won't be disjointed.

Also, HTC has more durable phones. Something about them is better.

I would choose HTC, customization is fantastic, so too there very many rom
prefer one s . specially its new . ICS pre installed. and also its finishing is great. with these tow phones i prefer one s without any risk . s2 is past . one x is future ..
HTC is more solid, massive. But HTC phones are more expensive than Samsung.
These are both different generations of devices, I don't think you can really compare them.
Having said that, I'd choose the One S.

Do you guys think that HTC will release a new phone later this year to compete with the iPhone 5 since their "flagships" weren't really worth that title?
Sent From My OrDroided Sensation 4G
Maybe they'll do a sort of bump to the One X like they did the XE to the Sensation but they said they'd release less phones so that remains to be seen. Perhaps they'll see how well their sales are and then decide?
That said I do feel the One X is a worthy flagship for HTC but that's just my opinion.
Well I talked to a HTC rep at the beginning of the year concerning the possibility of super amoled in the sensation and afterwards ha asked if there was any advice I had for HTC ( along those lines) and I said not not release as any phones as their flagship devices get extremely quickly outdated. He said that HTC were only going to release the one series but somehow I doubt that is true.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA
The one x is a good phone but what killed it out here is that it has no removable battery and I have T-Mobile USA so they don't even offer the one x...only the one s which really isn't an upgrade.
Sent From My OrDroided Sensation 4G
But they are planning to release a one x aren't they?
Don't blame me here or anything but I've heard from rum ours they might release a quad-core snapdragon s4....

I haven't heard anything about that. Only rumors I hear about T-Mobile is the note and gs3 being released....no HTC products

I still haven't had the chance to upgrade. I been wanting a galaxy nexus, but haven't found a price that suits me. Even my tmobiles contract is about to be up in October. Now htc one x plus is around the corner. How many of you guys are waiting for the one x plus.
Im definitely gonna check it out, but Im not loving the rumored specs tbh
My next phone will be either the next HTC flagship for TMo or the new Nexus device.
A leak shows it has att LTE network on it, maybe tmobile won't get it Idk
actually for me i'll stay to my lovely sensation surely for one year more
i'm not switching devices so frequently

Pretty much. I have no contract so I just buy my phones used (got this one for 200 six months ago) or full price, and I'm probably going to wait another generation for the next Nexus phone. Until my Sensation can't do something serious, there's no reason to upgrade other than to get something new.
I will, however, be considering a tablet with a keyboard like the new Surface that Microsoft is releasing. That is, once I see the price.

Same here, my next phone definitely won't be HTC though. Because of the lack of updates and such. I'm going to getting the nexus when it is released. Already have saved up for it. Just waiting for a release date.

HTC One X+ was actually going to be my next device (due for an upgrade in October as well), but now Im thinking I might hold off. I havent seen too much about the One X+, specs look OK but still have yet to see an official pic of the phone. not a fan of Sense either, but I actually do like HTC's build quality (minus the speaker on the Sensation). its a toss up between the One X+ or Nexus' next device
Well guys I gave in and got the galaxy S3. I'm running paranoid android ROM and its been sweet. Getting sick battery life and not missing sense as of yet.
