I have a sensation I'm thinking of trading for nexus. Which would u guys rather?

I've had the Nexus S 4G since launch and at this point, it's going to take a lot to pry this phone out of my hands.. It is still easily the best god damn phone I've ever owned and with ICS coming there is really no end in sight for exchanging it for something else.
In ur case, EVO 3d?

Speaking only for myself, not a chance. I love this phone.
I think you really will enjoy the Nexus. Its a great phone. I hope to always keep a Nexus in the stable.
I feel the same way, I will most likely always have a Nexus variant if not collect each one.
I wouldn't trade my nexus for anything other than the galaxy nexus. I got mine on the launch day last year and still loving it.
You should definitely trade. I have both and except for the dev support and screen, the sensation is better in everyway. And sense 3.5 on it is BADASS. ONLY carrier overlay that is worth a **** IMO.
I have both the Nexus S AND the Sensation. I like them both almost equally. Although, I do like the way the Sensation feels in my hand a little better. But....YMMV.
It's a tablet dammit! Not a BIG phone....
I wouldn't, it's a marginal hardware update, and then there's sense, which in all of its variations I just don't like. I follow there cm7 though, looking fairly stable at this point. That's a plus if there's one. This is just my opinion, not trying to start a flame war or anything

So true, I'll never buy another bloatware-laden locked down phone evar!!!!
I broke my HTC Desire HD, and as I had to buy a new device, the best and cheapest choice was the Nexus S (LCD here in France, far better than amoled picture wise).
There is only two thing the Nexus S is better than the DHD, its screen with better colors and backlight, and the useless but funny toy: nfc chip. Ah, another one : easy device unlock and rooting !
If I could afford it, I'll buy a Sensation or Incredible S, or even Desire HD any time.
Better alu case, better overall feeling with HTC devices, better camera... More Ram, and so on...
Maybe worse in benchmarks, but overall use experience much smoother and less laggy.
Now HTC devices are again unlocked, so MIUI is again available on theses rigs, so if you have to choose between a Sensation or a Nexus S, I'll choose the the HTC every time!
As you already own a Sensation, from my point of view, you are going a step down, maybe two...
But it is only my opinion.

Agreed, I hate all those custom UI's, AOSP FTW!
i think i would swap
but im waiting for the next nexus if i can hold out. i realize i need dual cores. i multitask way to much.
i also want a rock steady gps and the nexus s is flaky at times
i also need a better camera. after the epic i have been spoiled
i might not find the camera portion in the new nexus. i will hold out for the gs3 if i have to get it shipped.
Guys I am planning to buy a new phone. I want your suggestions about choosing the right one. I am relying on good battery life and phone which has a good amount of development going on (custom roms, kernels, miui, cyanogenmod, ics etc.) coz I love to fiddle with devices a lot. My current choices are :
Samsung galaxy R
Samsung galaxy S plus
HTC Desire S
HTC Incredible S
These are my options but senior members can suggest me phone in range of 23000 INR ($475).
Thanks in advance guys

Isn't Galaxy Nexus coming to India soon? It definitely has those things (though battery life preferred with custom kernel) and is probably of choice (until the new quadcores come out in a few months anyway) for tinkering. But I'm not sure you can get it for $475, unless they offer it more cheaply there. I got mine for $550ish, and that's considered cheap here.

Umm.. If you look for design and Sense UI, go for HTC. But if you want a performance device then I would suggest Samsung R or S Plus.
Thought for 23k you can even get Optimus 2x or Optimus 3D.
But if your just gonna stick with Samsung and HTC. I would suggest Samsung for the performance. No wonder HTC's Sense UI is far better than any other device out there but its just your decision whether wanna go with Design and Looks or Performance and Built Quality!
have a look at the new Htc series One,
HTC One X, HTC One S and HTC One V

2 years ago, I prefer 3.7" phones to 4.3" phones. But now, 3.7" and 4.3" seem too small for me. Just try it first and you'll like it and even want a bigger one. Anyway, the 4.8" screen was rumoured to have a 16:9 aspect ratio.

I see. For that price, you might consider the HTC Sensation. I think the HTC Rezound occasionally gets that low (say with special promotions), but I can't find any at this moment.
I'm not familiar with any of the "cheaper" manufacturers (Huawei or the like) but it might be something to look into.
If your not in a hurry to get a phone. I would suggest you too wait for like till April or May. There are like 20+ phones getting launched by then.
HTC's One series are gonna be available globally by April. Even LG, Samsung, Sony has launched some new phones and they all comes with ICS 4.
So you may wait for sometime and I bet its worth waiting for.

That's actually a good point. Old phones usually take a price dip when their successor comes out. The HTC Rezound is sure to take one when the One X comes out, for instance, similarly for the Samsung Galaxy S2 when the S3 comes out.
So if you can wait, I'm going to speculate that those phones might dip down into your (OP's) price range. (But you should allow for a margin of error ).
If I were you, I would check the forum on what phone has the most development ... That way, you can have a lot of Rom choices hehehe

I'd like to know why too.
I've got my HTC desire for ~two years and never had any problems. + there are a lot of roms for the device.
Among your choices I'd go for the HTC Desire S.
Ive been debating on returning this phone for a Samsung galaxy note. I love flashing random themes etc. But I'm inpatient.. would the note be a better choice or should I just suck it up and expect great things to happen

Suck it up. One x is miles ahead of note in terms of, well, everything. Other than screen size. But 4.7 superlcd2 just blows it away.

I did own one. The only thing that makes it "good" is the software and even stock ICS wasn't good enough to make me keep the mediocre hardware that it was running on. It was quite the downgrade from my E4GT, and can't hold a candle to the HOX.

Mediocre is a little too harsh, but the GNex is one generation old now.
The Snapdragon S4 on the One XL is a beast compared to the OMAP4 (Cortex A9). The SAMOLED HD display is nice, but the SLCD on the HTC is just superb. The One XL also does LTE. The construction on the One XL is very nicely done and the camera is incredibly nice and fast.
The biggest gripe about the One XL is non-replaceable battery (and perhaps the HTC Sense skin).

I returned my one x the other day and I don't miss it or regret it. With the WiFi issue and the horrible battery life the phone was a rip off. The sad thing is that manager of the ATT store I took it back too agreed. He said they sold 28 units since the release date and mine made 12th return since the release date...and he went as far as to shoe me the returned units in the back store room. I'm back on my vivid and going to wait for the new GS3 or order the galaxy nexus. That's what I get for falling for the hype over a new release phone...which turns out that's all the One X was....hype. The manager said the that ATT corporate is already told them to drop the price to 149.00 starting in late June which is the quickest they have ever dropped the price of a new phone. That says a lot to me. I'm just glad I was able to get a refund and he was kind enough to waive the restocking fee and some is able to get the system to show that I still have an upgrade to use.

Not sure if serious...
I'm thinking about getting a new phone soon... I wanted to pick up the HTC One X but reading about so many faulty devices over on the forums I'm kinda hesitant now. Still wondering whether or not I should make the plunge; on the other hand the 4S looks pretty interesting as well so that's also an option. So does the Xperia Arc S.
I need to get the phone before Julyish since I'm going overseas to study.
I don't see the newer phones (even One X, Galaxy S3) being much better than the G2x already. Sure they have ICS, but all the apps I run are fine on GB. Plus the extra cost to upgrade vs the ~$200 out-of-contract price of G2x on $30/mo plan doesn't justify it.
With all pricing aside, what's in ur opinion the best phone on the market right now?

Galaxy Note for T-Mobile, Galaxy S 3 for T-Mobile, Nexus Tablet.
That is what catches my eyes but in reality, my G2X will do just well for like 4 years more just as my Etched Nexus one does. My G1 is just too slow now.
Sensation rocks because the developer support is unparalleled. But the S3 is fantastic, and if you want a big screen the Note is excellent. And the One X, while it does have a few kinks in terms ram management, its arguably the best phone out there. Tried it in the store and it is unreal fast

Look at the post for the s3 in the general section, and then look at the comparison for the new krait CPU that will be in the sgs3, yes it is a bummer that its only a dual core but how much utilization will a quad be used? With the research I've done I'm more then happy with what the stateside sgs3 has to offer just have to decide other things my previous post stated.
And don't worry my mt3g isn't going anywhere like my g1 its safe and sound lol.

If I stick with android I won't buy another non Nexus phone. If the manufacture updates the phone any it won't be updated for long and in most cases 3 months later there will be a slightly refreshed version that comes along and goodbye support for the phone you got. I had a Samsung Vibrant well you know that support died when the Galaxy S 4G came out You all know the support on the G2X and I also have a mytouch 4G which is running 2.3.4 just like my G2X which I also don't see it getting updated either to ICS.
As long as I know the phone will have xda support and Dec community support from the manufacturer I'll get it. Like the sensation that thing is fully supported, the HTC Vivid that's on at&t is extremely supported, sh¡+ even the G1 is lol....

I jumped ship to the HTC One S. Besides the pentile screen it can hold its own against the One X, if not beat it at benchmarks and in my opinion just as good as anything Samsung is releasing. I tried to love my G2x, I was even convinced that it was the best phone out there but the software/hardware issues finally got to me.

I hate skins on android. That's why I root and install an AOSP based ROM on my devices. I also like battery life and A2DP Bluetooth streaming.
So...anyone out there think the nexus is a worthwhile upgrade?. I'm already running KitKat. Software is no advantage the Nexus has. However... Is the Nexus a worthy upgrade? I have read that battery life was disappointing at launch. Is it still bad? What does the N5 offer over my One?

GS3. HTC ONE.. GS4... Nexus 5 is my fev phone out of all of them

Once upon a time, there was a guy who wanted an awesome new android phone. He decided to buy an HTC amaze as that was probably the best phone on the market at the time. He got it 1 month after the phone came out on the market and it was awesome. He enjoyed using it for 9 mos. before HTC decided to stop supporting their FLAGSHIP phone! Alas that phone was relegated to ICS forever.
Then, his girlfriend wanted a new phone and he thought, well, maybe it was just my bad luck to buy the HTC amaze right before HTC decided to realign their phone offerings. The HTC One S looks very good and it has the latest snapdragon S4 chip in it. So he bought her that phone and 9 mos later, HTC announces no more updates after android 4.1.2!
Moral of the story: stick with HTC one if you want an obsolete android OS in 1 year.

Battery life is as good or better. I still have my One and mainly use it to play music, but the Nexus outperforms it in every way and also seems to have a better antenna than the One. Plus, the Nexus has ART which I know is not supported on the HTC One because of Sense.
It's a very worthy upgrade. I do miss the speakers, Aux Sound Output, and sometimes a few 'Sense' things like BlinkFeed and the features in the stock messaging app.

However, if you're satisfied with your One.. just keep it. Unless you're dead set on having stock Android. The One does have some nice features, like the speakers (yes, stereo speakers) and very good build quality, compared to the Nexus 5 at least, which doesn't seem to fit together perfectly like the One.
As for battery life, I would say it's about equal. They both have the same size battery.

Good luck getting a 90% working ROM for the phone once htc stops supporting it. The Amaze and One S ROMs all have major things broken on it, whether it is Bluetooth or camera or something else not working or not working correctly. So I would say software for HTC phones are important.

The HTC One does have the benefit of being a GE supported device. Can't predict how that'll play out yet. Besides that, you statement is accurate. I came from ATT with and Atrix4g... the hardware is still great. But zero software support from the OEM and all the ROMs available aren't DD material for someone that uses their phone as part of business.
Hence the move to my HTC One on Sprint/Ting... Just to find out that I should have bought a cheap used nexus s and waited for a N5. :/
The way that I understand the GPE phones work is that Google releases the operating system to HTC and then they optimize it to work with their phone before they push out an update. So updates still have to pass through HTC. If they decide to end support for the one, I doubt they'll continue supporting the GPE phone.

That's just it. Even though the UI of the GPE One is all Google, it actually uses the stock Sense kernel. Once HTC stops updating the phone, it stops for the Google Edition as well.
