I am having major problems.
1-Wifi stops working and I have to reboot
2-My phone wont reboot unless I pull the battery.
3-My battery drains VERY quickly in standby.
What on earth should I do? I have S-OFF and I followed the guide to rooting using the PG58IMG file.
Please, could someone help?
Also, setcpu doesnt stick after reboot and adfree doesnt work at all. TB works fine as does root explorer.

One important point to remember is that this is a BETA! They made that clear. I had all the same problems, said to hell with that and used the RUU to put everything back to stock, now it is fine. I'd wait for a stable release (and CM7) before you try again. These problems seem to be common.
So, by going back to stock, you lose root but maintain S-OFF correct?
Matt
That is correct

You lose s-off... I know I had it happen, your results may vary, but I did lose s-off after running the RUU...
I also followed the guide to the letter, (this is not the first or the last I have s-off'ed/rooted), so I am not a noob, but I can only report what has happend to me. I may try again this afternoon for fun, BUT until CM7 comes out for the sensation, I probably won't waste my time.

The thing people need to remember, with this being "beta" these issues have to be dealt with one at a time. Eventually it will be a true one step process. Seems like a lot to go through for so little. BUT now that the Source Kernel has been released by HTC, Now that s-off has been achieved it won't be long until a good supply of QUALITY roms will be available.
If you flash a custom ROM, all your issues will magically disappear...

I am a little scared that I will just get further into trouble. Nothing seems to work right anymore. I cant even turn off my friggen phone the right way anymore...
If I manage to get it back to stock rom, can I use the old temp root methods while I wait for things to be ironed out?

Of course you can. But, for example, the wifi problem will be gone if you flash a custom, because it is probably an incompatibility between the boot.img and the modules. Just try flashing a custom
I am new to all this, so I will spend my time getting this back to stock, then temp root , and then wait out a new version....I am DL the stock ROM for TMOUS...
Matt
Hello there,
My first impression on using a Custom ROM on Sensation is awesome. After getting S-OFF and flashing LeeDROiD it seems to run smoother even though it isnt on a custom kernel yet. I guess we will have alot of releases the next days as the kernel source is out from HTC also
My phone was fast as heck after running ADW EX launcher and overclocking. I think I will wait this all out. I was in over my head. Can you guys confirm that following the debranding guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193033
will get me back to normal? I am ready to flash the rom.zip (renamed to PG58IMG.zip). I am waiting for my battery to charge. ;-)
Matt
I'm not 100% but isn't the PG58IMG file just the kernel?
What Sensation do you have 4G TMOUS?
What is your HBOOT (ex:1.17.0008)?
Can you describe in detail what steps you took from the beginning so we have a clear understanding what you did?
Hope we can help...
Started with 0008, then used revolution to get s-off. After that, I used the pg58IMG file. I was rooted at that point. Once I set setcpu back up, the wifi stopped working. The other troubles started right after the root.
I just reverted to stock, and am setting things back up. Looks like I am still s-off though. Will I be able to use the temp root method still?

That's because that unsecured boot image you used, is incompatible with the modules you have. If you flash a custom ROM, which is uber-easy, the wifi problem, plus the root problems will be gone. Trust me
Alright, I am back to the way things were. I still have s-off, but I am back to the stock ROM and have my phone temp rooted again.
When you guys talk about flashing ROMs, could I just do that as is? Do I need to do anything else, now that I have s-off? Could I just load the ROM on my SD card, then do the same thing I did to get back to stock?
Matt
I recently brought a htc desire s rooted with sense 3.0. Today when i was downloading an app the phone blocked on the start screen and i couldn t do anything. I got the battery out and reiserted it but after de load screen ..nothing..i could see the screen was lit but nothing. After repeteing the process for 5 times it finally worked and the phone started..What could be the problem? Please help me. And also superuser is not working. it says it failed application or something like that every time i use it or some program tries to use it..The same with programs that require root. They just fail.the rest of the programs work perfectly and the Sense ui is smooth. What could be the problem?
hey..may be the root was done badly..steps missed..try reformating ur fone..re-root and install a fresh rom..Htc runnymede sense3.5
works grt!
the good thing is that your phone is not bricked
i would check what eMMC phone has
and of course flash a new rom
reboot to recovery and check for error messages like: "E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log"

Just be careful with pulling the battery... there is a known issue with the Desire S where that menrioned eMMC chip gets messed up when power is disrupted by pulling battery... apparently Power and Vol up Vol down all at the same time pressed do reset the Desire S when a freeze occurs... also.. update apps in market only one by one... and read the threads here in general section a but further down.. use esfile explorer start it up tap left upper corner the star select phone then follow this path /sys/devices/platform/msm_sdcc.2/mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0:0001/ tap name open as text tap the first choice.
Mine is m4g2de which is the crappy one i think not sure
Do an s-off and re-root the phone with this
Don t install su 3.0 ,it s terrible unstable on desire s.
Try to flash a custom rom( that is more powerful than Stock rom)

Just copy the ROM in my signature to your sd card and boot into recovery, and use install from sd card option to flash it.
If you want a sense 3.0 ROM, this is the best out there. For Non-sense ROMs, you can try CyanogenMod or MIUI
However, i would first recommend that you download 4EXT recovery (link in my sig) and flash that instead of CWM (from inside recovery). Then use the format option to reformat your system, data and cache partitions to ext4 and then flash the ROM.

No. I have this "chip" too, and as long as you do not do a battery pullout when the phone is switched on, you are safe. There is no hard and fast rule that your phone will get fried just because you have this chip. Lots of people have it on their phones and most aren't even aware of it! So i wouldn't worry too much about it.
Even if by mistake, you do pull out the battery while the phone is powered up, DO NOT REINSERT IT IMMEDIATELY. Wait for around 30 sec to a minute, then reinsert it.
This is very important. You shouldn't be doing battery pulls, but if you HAVE to, wait for some time before putting it back in... i guess it'll give some time for the capacitors to discharge and not cause a spike of current when you reinsert after some time.
Seems to be working well for people who are doing frequent battery pulls, despite being on the same eMMC chip as us.
Hope this helps you.

Hey
I just got a huge bootloop while attempting to flash new Venom Room to my HTC One X. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868236
I cannot access the recovery.. After restart (power button+volume down) i can get to bootloader section, but when i try to get into recovery, the phone just restart and stop on the white htc screen.
I already tried to reinstall recovery. Installation was successful, but the problem persists..
Before i had Incert Coins room.
The phone is unlocked, new recovery is installed
Please, help
If you had Insert Coin working on your phone, you have an international (Tegra3) version of the One X. This forum (and the Venom ROM you linked) are for the Snapdragon S3 version. Completely different hardware.
If I'm correct, you flashed a ROM for the wrong phone. Try running the RUU for your phone, but if that doesn't work you may be screwed. Recovery partitions are not the same for the versions. The ROM overwrote the recovery partition of your phone.
You are right.. It WAS the wrong rom.. I have tegra3 processor and this rom comes from american section..
But - is the RUU reinstall only one thing what i can do? I heard its dangerous

RUU just returns your phone to the stock condition. Stock ROM and stock recovery. There should be nothing dangerous about it. Just use the right one for your version, carrier, etc. But the CID check should ensure that you don't run the wrong RUU (if RUU is for a different CID, the RUU will not run).
Only thing with RUU, is that it wipes all user data. That may be why you heard its "dangerous". But in the condition you are in, this is not even a consideration anymore.
RUU is not dangerous, and it may be your only hope at this point.
You will need to lock your bootloader before running the RUU.
I've relocked bootloop. But now there is an information "RELOADED, Security Warning"
Will be safe to flash stock RUU now?

ohh, its Relocked.. Im just a bit nervous right now hoping it will unbrick this phone..
Just 3min to complete RUU download.
Do U guys think this stock RUU will rewrite the partitions back?
I've noticed another problem.
Cannot load RUU because the battery level is lower then 30%.
But when i plug the charger the light doesnt flash. It starts to flash when i switch on the phone.
Also cannot switch the phone with the power button. It restart all the time. Only can do that from bootloader command "power down". But when the phone is off the power light doesnt flash..
Does it mean that the battery is not charging at all? Because the light can flash only because the power is low..
The phone shut down completly now.. Does not charge the battery at all.. Power gone off and i cannot even turn on the phone..
Is there any solution how to make it charge?
Ok, the problem is that the wrong ROM i tried to install changed partition and also it seems it destroyed Recovery..
Without recovery the phone cannot charge while being in bootloader mode...
Is there any way to make phone charging when Recovery doesnt work and cannot be flashed?
Please help
Take the phone apart. I mean all the way spart and hardwire a charger to the phone/ battery. Its a pain but you can do it.
Ohh..
I found a treat http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658084
There is a way to charge battery by running the script, which makes phone reinstalling constantly. Each time it is reinstalled, the battery is charged a little bit more.
After mayby 40min i went up from 3686 V to 3720 V.
It seems that my only hope is to reinstall RUU. I tried to flash wrong ROM, from wrong model and as one user wrote above, it has rewritten my partition. Same time it destroyed recovery.. I cannot flash recovery now because the partition is rewritten...
And without working recovery i cannot charge the battery being in bootloader.. If i understand it all correctly.
I already tried to install RUU with 3710 V. It started to install, but stopped after few min with information that battery is too low..
So i think ill leave this script running for a whole night, and hope, in the morning battery will be charged just enough to install RUU eventually..
Uff
Okey, finally its fixed..
After 7 hours of constant reinstalling the phone by the script, the battery was loaded enough to finish RUU instalation process.. (battery went to about 3830mV power)
After oryginal RUU was installed, everything went fine.
Now i already re-unlocked the bootloader, re-rooted the phone and all works correctly.
Thanks all people who helped. Mostly to redpoint73, who diagnosed the problem straight away and put me on the right track.

Hello guys, i've got serious problem here. My phone shuts down for no reason ( or i don't know which one is ) after using any application over 10 minutes ( games, web browser, forum app like tapatalk, etc.. ). I tried already battery trick ( putting piece of credit card on battery so i could have better contact with pins ) and still experiencing same problem, i installed 3.6 Sense based ROM ( ARHD ) down from 4.0.1 ( Viper ROM ) and guess what... still getting shut downs... What should i do? Buy new battery, factory reset, or something else?
Please help, thanks in advance!
P.S. I did some research on this subject, could not find answer on my problem.
My phone spec:
HTC Sensation z710e
ARHD ROM , all default settings ( no overclock, default kernel, audio )
Tried cm.10 , elegancia, viper and same problem on them all.
the only one i can think is that your battery probably is dying

Yea, i forgot to describe what happens after shut downs. So while running some app with XX% battery after shut down ( no reboot, no freeze, just bang... turned off ) it shows 1% or 2% left or sometimes XX%...and the only way to turn it back on is via cable connected to PC or wall charger, it's impossible to turn it on in any other way.

i think that when you are trying to switch it on the battery is not capable to provide enough power or while you are using apps and the cpu takes place so the apps can run then needs more power for it
maybe is that the reason too that you can switch on the device while connected to pc or charger
i think you should try a different battery

Search for RUU. You will find everything you need to know including links to download the files and instructions on how to use them.
Basically an RUU is like a reset button for the phone. It will wipe EVERYTHING off the device and replace it with exactly what came on the phone when you bought it. Just make sure you get the correct one. There are different RUU's for different carriers and regions.

I'm assuming that those 2 options you listed are the proper ones for your region. If that is correct, then it doesn't matter which you flash. Both of them should work.
The first one is probably the original Gingerbread ROM that came with the phone. The second one looks like it's the ICS update that came out last year.
It depends on what you want to do.

I've Viper 5.1.0 installed, suddenly my phone won't charge while it's on. I did a factory reset/full wipe but nothing changed. My phone only charges while off or in recovery mode. I need to take out the battery before charging while off otherwise it wont charge.
Anyone ?
Is it really needed to flood this before getting attention ? I'm very frustrated sorry. I thought you guys would help me in a second, or advise me at least to do something. When I connect my phone to a laptop or pc it will not recognize it.
Dude, don't be so damn demanding. You can't just expect an answer as soon as you post your question man, we ain't tech support. Don't bump your thread 3 times in 2 hours. Chillax.
As for your question, what are your settings? UV/OV? GPU/CPU OC? Min Clock speed? USB Network Settings? Happens on other roms? Firmware? HBoot?

I didn't touch any of the venom settings. It's all default like min clock 384 mhz and max 1512 mhz. I did a full wipe/factory reset and the problem still exists. I'm running Viper 5.1.0 since 3 weeks did 2 factory resets before and never had this problem. Also didnt try another ROM.
Bootloader locked
S-Off
HBoot 1.29.0000
Radio-11.29A 3504.18_M
I don't know which firmware but I think 3.33.
Is this a hardware problem, but if it is a hardware problem why does the orange light blink when I plug it in the charger.

Most of your info matches mine, so I suspect something has gone wrong while flashing.
Try full-wiping from recovery and then reflashing the rom, and not touching anything in the aroma installer. If it charges while off, It isn't a hardware issue but a software issue. Also, try a different (stable) rom like revelation for example, and see if it occurs there.

I think I will try revelation, because I already did a reflash.

Alright, try that, and report back if it still fails to charge.

I read in some topics about possible hardware problems such as replacing the usb port charger or the complete motherboard. Are you sure that it's not a hardware problem ? Also it's very strange that the orange indicator is blinking(charging) while I'm in the recovery menu and not in the bootloader menu.

Does it blink or is it solid? If it blinks, it means it can't find the battery. Maybe try a different battery if you have access to one. Replacing the motherboard on such an old phone is honestly a waste of time and money, as you can find working sensations for less then a new motherboard.

Try running a RUU. Otherwise it must be a hardware/battery issue.

Will a RUU unroot my device and btw how is it possible to do a RUU if a laptop is not recognizing my phone. I tried another battery but in vain. I'm going to solder a new usb charging port hopefully it wil fix the problem.

If it doesn't even recognize it in fastboot mode, you can always copy the Rom.zip from the ruu to your sd card and rename it to P66img.zip or something like that.

I replaced the usb charging port it seems to work now, but I damaged the lcd screen fpc connector http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server5...necotr_02__26517.1330053464.1280.1280.jpg?c=1
I'm going to buy one is it difficult to replace/solder it ? Removing the connector seems not a problem, but how to solder it again ?
