[Q] Stuck on Splash Screen, adb and fastboot not responding

I tried to install SmartDroidBerserk 2.2 for my htc sensation tonight. After following the instructions on your website http(removeThis://)smartdroidromsDOTcom/berserk.htm I ran into a huge problem; I'm stuck on the HTC splash screen.
I followed the instructions up to where it said to flash the rom. I believe that I misread this part as meaning that you could install the rom from the zip on the sd card, so I tried to do so. I got an installation error with a status 1 message during the installation. I thought that if I tried to reboot my phone that I could try to reinstall the rom or revert back to an old backup through recovery and then try to actually flash the rom the 'proper' way.
I'm now stuck on the HTC splash screen and can't do anything with my smartphone. I tried to connect it to my computer to run adb to get it back into the bootloader. When I try adb devices it doesn't even recognize that my phone is attached. The same goes for fastboot devices - no return. When I go to my computer and try and select my phone as a removable disk, windows asks me to insert a disk into the disk drive because I formatted the phone during your installation process. After I discovered that I can't use adb to get back into the bootloader, I tried to press volume down and power at the same time but I still can't get into the bootloader with that method, it just stalls on the htc splash screen, not even displaying the "quietly brillant" slogan.
If there's anything that anyone can think that would help my situation, I'd be extremely grateful! I've got a 600$ brick!!

I was able to get into the bootloader by holding down Vol + power (guess I wasn't holding it down long enough). When I get into the bootloader and try to go into recovery my phone still gets stuck on the htc splash screen for some odd reason. I was able to get it to go into recovery without a problem (until now of course). I'm not able to get into recovery to restore my backup(s).

I'm reading over the unbricking project now and I'll try it tonight....this so sucks the big one (and hard).....

at least you managed to enter into the bootloader.then your device it is not bricked
there is no need to use it

yes, I put adb and fastboot in a folder C:\mini-adb and navigated to that folder. adb would print out 'attached devices are' and nothing below it when I would run adb devices. fastboot devices simply returned nothing.
I got to the second step part 9 where it asked me to fastboot reboot after flashing the recovery (which was successfully written) however when I try to reboot it just stays stuck on the htc splash screen still.

Sorry for the double post.. I just removed my battery and was able to go back into the bootloader and could get into recovery. I was able to restore a prior rooted backup but whenever I try to reboot my smartphone it loads into recovery and not into my rom.
I have the added problem of not being able to access the sd card where I would put the Android Revolution .zip file. Whenever I try to access the phone's drive windows ask me to please insert a disk into removable disk F:.
EDIT: I just used the rom in the opening post instead of using the Android Revolution rom and it installed just fine. I can use my phone again! Thanks so much rzr!

[Q] stuck on juopunutbear screen

i have searched and have found many people with similar problems but none of the solutions have helped me, that said i apologise if ive missed the answer.
so ive used htcdev to unlock my bootloader which went fine then ive decided to "s-off" my phone which has gone fine, well im "s-off"ed however im stuck on the juopunutbear screen everytime i turn the phone on.
ive tried guide on the unlimited.io website - controlbear.exe -r, controlbear.exe -f. when i carry out the next point when i get to "fastboot flash recovery recovery_backup.img" i get a failed.
this i believe has happened because i started the process in kgs1992's aio app which crashed so i shut it and completed in controlbear, i cant think where else i went wrong, ive read loads of guides.
HEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLPP........gotta ring my dad tomorrow which atm isnt gonna happen!

just to fill you in..
controlbear.exe -f
restores from fastboot which it completes then the phone reboots...to the juopunutbear screen!
controlbear.exe -r
restores to normal mode, reset phone, then says the phone should be in normal mode..and is on the juopunutbear screen!!

did you use the remove_temp_root.bat to return the device in working condition?
if yes then rerun kgs1992's aio and see if you can fix it

the temp_route.bat is irrelivent as i didnt use this root method (i used the aio to perm root)
have attempted to use kgs1992's aio as a fix however cant get anywhere i will say when i try and re-"s-off" the phone it says im not rooted then tries to re-root me and fails.
nooo!!..dont quit now!

Then what error you got when you used fastboot command?
... wait why did you do juopunutbear when you are already soff?

Got the point..
Try those fastboot commands again
Connect the phone properly .. you should connect the phone properly.. If connected properly the phone says FASTBOOT USB .. if it's just saying FASTBOOT then you didn't have drivers installed or the connection is not proper.
If it's saying HBOOT press power button once.. That should take you to required screen

when i try to boot into an os it loads to the juopunutbear screen, occasionally restarts itself, but yes.
when i used fastboot command? which command?
i used juopunutbear to get s-off and its been stuck since.

i have succesfully flash 4ext recovery onto the phone and it is working.
can you suggest a rom? currently downloading Android Revolution HD 6.8.0 to try it with.
can you give me some step by step instructions? worried im never gonna have a phone again.

If Struck on juopunutbear screen:
Well, there's an easy solution if you're struck on the juopunutbear boot screen on your phone. Follow the steps in order:
1.Open the folder where you've extracted the juopunutbear setup files.
2.There'll be a image file in the folder called "boot_backup".
3.Copy that file to the folder you've created during the bootloader unlocking process from HTCDev. The folder contains the fastboot.exe, AdbWinApi.dll etc files, and probably it is in your c:\Android.
4.Rename the copied boot_backup image file to "boot" only.
5.Take out your battery out, reinsert it and boot into the bootloader mode using volume down + power button.
6.You'll see a red writing " fastboot usb"
7.See your computer screen now, the current folder where you copied and renamed.
8.Holding "shift" button on your keyboard, right click inside the folder and select "open command promp window here".
9.Type the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and press enter.
10.Then type" fastboot reboot" and press enter.
11.Your phone should reboot normally now.
[****The above method is based on stock sensation rom. If you're struck in a custom rom, then in step 3, copy the boot.img file of the custom rom from where you've downloaded your rom and continue the steps******]

Make sure you unplug all usb devices when doing juopunutbear method, I couldn't do it for hours then I unplugged all devices and restarted PC. It worked on 1st try.

Help save my Sensation

I have an XE, HBOOT 1.27 Unlocked and S-ON and I flashed many ROMs, always enabling SmartFlash in 4Ext.
Yesterday I tried to flash Sebastian's ROM, Revelation, and now my phone is stuck at HTC Splash Screen.
First I did a nandroid to my current ROM, Pac 1.1, then format all(except SD Card), then flashed Revelation and something went wrong.
After flash complete I confirmed reboot and right before 4Ext closed, it showed a message saying something like : It has been detected a change in your boot partition, a backup of previous has been made in /sdcard/4Ext/boot.
It stays like that for a few seconds(I always had this message when flashed other ROMs) and soon after says something "there has been an error, report it" (never seen this message before) and reboots, but keeps showing Splash Screen for ~5 seconds, turns black, then Splash Screen again and so on until I remove the battery.
What can I do and how?
Someone told me to push via fastboot the ROM's boot.img but there is a problem.I have a PC where the phone has never been connected via USB cable, so I have no driver/tool anything.
When I connect it to PC, nothing shows up.
If I select FASTBOOT from the bootloader menu, still nothing shows up on PC.I tried from 4Ext menu Toggle usb connection, but still no trace on my PC.
I beg you, help me.
EDIT : I just found out that Sebastian messed up something in the installer, and all I have to do is to flash the boot.img through fastboot.

Hi,
Try flashing a STOCK ROM
Choose the XE in the second post.
Otherwise you will have to setup your PC to run a RUU,and return everything back to square one.

The weird thing is that even if I try to flash another ROM, stil the same problem.
I format all except SD card,wipe cache+dalvik, mount SD card into PC and delete folder 4Ext/boot_backup.
Go back to 4Ext, enable SmartFlash and flash CM 10.1 by Albino . Reboot, I get the message about my boot partition has been modified, but not the error too, and when it reboots, stuck at splash screen.
I'm desperate.

It looks like your only option to reconfigure your boot partition ,is to run a RUU.
Look HERE
Do you know the version-main of your phone?
But first you will also need to setup your PC for ADB.

actually if he setup the pc with adb and fastboot files he will be able to flash the boot.img manually
so why the ruu.exe?

I tried that yesterday with the help of a guy, but no success.
I installed all necessary drivers, adb and fastboot, but I can't get my phone discovered on my PC.
If the boot partition would be screwed, why it doesn't work when I try to flash other ROM? Like CM 10.1 or the XE Stock that I've been suggested a few posts above. Flashing this ROMs, shouldn't the boot partition be written with the ROM's files, and everything should turn back as normal?

It should rewrite the boot partition. Are you sure 4ext says "a pending update to..." and the process completes?
First boot after a new flash can take as long a 10mins. Wait it out.
Anyway if it diesnt work, try another wipe (all except sdcard) flash another rom, and if you're still stuck, use an ruu.

I'm very sure 4ext says "a pending update to..." but only it doesn't completes as usual, instead show an error saying that the process couldn't be completed and the boot partition was reverted back as it was,report the problem. This happens when trying to flash Revelation.
I flashed CM 10.1 and says only " a pending update to..." no error , reboots and keeps turning off and on the splash screen.

There you go. The reason your phone is in a bootloop is that the correct boot.img is not written.
And something is not right with your recovery. It could be a bad flash (I'm not sure).
I don't think you need to use an ruu. Just get on a pc that recognizes your device, and flash the correct boot.img.
I would advise that you flash the recovery.img again.
EDIT: Change usb port to 2.0. Try all usb ports on your computer. It is quite common that fastboot recognizes devices on some usb ports and not on others.
Alternatively read this, point 4. This will surely work if you can't get another pc

If you need windows 7 & 8 drivers, look HERE
If it worked on your old computer,then,it will still work now.

I think this is the key to my problem. I checked the link you gave me and I think I might get it done using that method.
Gonna give it a try as soon as I get some free time later today.
PS : I tried all 3 usb ports on PC, ofc.

I'm having a hard time finding the right RUU for my phone, as I don't have access to fastboot, which would make my job a lot easier.
I found a list with providers and CIDs and I suppose mine is HTC-ITA HTC__405 , since I bought it in Italy and it was unbranded.
But i can't get software version, as it asks me to go to setting/About phone . I can't do that.

You can flash only one particluar ruu. Just make sure it's pyramid le(sensation xe). You will not be able to flash a wrong one, so no need to worry.

The RUU process will not work if the phone says "Unlocked"
You will need to relock the phone,according to the section 3 of the guide.
So,you will need a PC

did you check also if the bootloader screen says fastboot usb?

But I'm gonna do the step 4 which says only to execute the RUU .exe but don't do anything, and in the temp folder on my pc I will find a file which then I'll have to move to the SD Card and flash straight from my recovery.

when you select fastboot does it say after that fastboot usb in bootloader screen?
actually have you enabled usb debugging mode from tettings?

[Q] Unlocked, reflashed, app ran into problem phone restarted and bricked?

Im still kinda a noob with android...
but i managed to unlock my htc sensation trough the steps @HTC,
changed the recovery, tried to flash a rom.
it failed due to my phone not being S-off. so i flashed it back :/
no problem there i thought just a rooted htc.
downloaded an app to remove bloat. and all seemed fine...
I was playing Clash of Clans, and it gave a message that the Google play services stopped and the phone rebooted.
when booted the lock screen was frozen, i pulled out the battery to find out my phone is unresponsive..
When i connect to windows 8, it cant recognize my phone at all
When i connect it to a charger i dont see the charging light.
and the worse thing is.. i cant get into the recovery.
any idea's what i can try?
i checked out the [unbrick] tread but i cant seem to figure out which "Package" i need and the links on the bottom of the page dont work when i click them

At first you have not to be S-OFF in order to flash a rom.
Your rom will get installed just fine.You just need to flash the kernel of your rom manually through fastboot using the command fastboot flash boot boot.img.
What exactly do you mean by telling "so i flashed it back"?
Did you relocked your bootloader with fastboot oem lock and you flashed an RUU?
You said you are just rooted.If my theory was right you probably unlocked your bootloader again by flashing the unlock.bin and a cwm recovery and then you had to use a (Superuser , SuperSU zip).
The first time you unlocked your device was you using the same computer with windows 8?
If yes this is a problem.Check your device manager for unrecognised devices.Can you see the device?

(You can try with win7 or a linux destribution instead.)
Are you still able to boot into bootloader (hboot) using (Power)+(Vol-) Buttons?
If you have enabled usb-debugging and a working adb shell despite you are in a bootloop you can try:

reboot oem-78 -------> To get in RUU mode
or
reboot bootloader -------->(To reboot into hboot)
* reboot recovery could bring you to recovery *
If you can get into hboot or RUU mode give the command fastboot getvar all and copy-paste what it prints.

so i flashed back to the "stock" rom.
resulting in a "normal" rooted device
since i've replaced my recovery and got root access
it never has been oem locked again.(still isnt)

when i plug it into my computer (windows 8) it makes the sound as it does when you connect a device.

As you have not access to bootloader but your device is still seems to get connected i think you can only try HTC Unbricking Project.If the brickdetect.sh is not working you can try a different linux destribution.

Rooting after HTC One SV stuck on welcome screen

Hi!
I have a serious problem here. I offered to try and fix a friend's HTC One SV (4.2.2 Jelly bean). His battery died a few days ago, everything was working fine before that. He charged the phone and tried turning it on, but now it gets stuck on the HTC One welcome screen. (I've added a photo of the bootloader screen as well) The phone is not rooted. I've tried everything - clearing cache, recovery mode, factory reset.. Nothing helps. While researching for solutions, I stumbled upon a post where they said that if it were rooted, a custom recovery or RUU would be possible.
Since I am a bit of a newbie to rooting and hacking in general, then I'd like to ask if it's possible to root the damn thing now that it's not turning itself on properly and unlock the bootloader so I could flash a new ROM for example. Will it do any harm? Do you have any suggestions?
P.S.
Taking it back to the shop is an option and I am aware that warranty will void once it's unlocked. Despite this, we're willing to give it a try.

I'm a bit confused, about that "Security Warning" on the picture. Not normal at all!
But if you really want to root, unlock your bootloader at htcdev.com.
Follow the steps, they provide a guide on their website, how to unlock.

Turned the phone on and went to the bootloader, the security warning is gone. That's good, I assume? What about this ***tampered*** part?

It seems the phone was unlocked/S-off already, and the one who locked it back to stock forgot to reset the Tampered flag.

That can't be. He is the first owner and hasn't touched it in any way.

Tampered appears only after unlocking the bootloader.
Maybe a refurbished device!?!

Ah, yes! I completely forgot about that. He had its power button repaired a few months, perhaps the tech guys did something with it.

I've been trying to do that for the past 2 days, but I'm stuck at step 5 - when I type in cmd ''fastboot oem get_identifier_token'', it says ''fastboot is not recognized as an interal or external command, operable program or batch file''. When I clicked on the fastboot.exe, it said something like adbwinapi.dll is missing. Downloaded that, the error was gone.
I've googled for solutions and so far none of them have worked. What could be wrong?

I have HTC Sync Manager. The drivers should come along with that, or not?
EDIT: Something odd happened - the phone started bootlooping, so I did a factory reset and then a red text appeared saying ''this build is for development purposes only.... etc''. I have not started unlocking the phone, it was simply connected to the usb while the bootloader was open. After the hard reset it does not bootloop anymore, but it is still stuck on the welcome screen. Thought it may be important.

I don't know, what happened to your device. But you need to solve this fastboot issue on your pc to proceed.
Also check, if the bootloader still is locked.

I finally got my bootloader unlocked - it turns out Windows 8.1 was the problem. I couldn't manually install any drivers, so I refreshed my Windows back to 8.0, that helped.
Now, I'd like to root it and flash a custom rom to see if it helps me get out of the stuck HTC screen, but every rooting guide requires USB debugging to be enabled. How can I do that if I can't access the settings, because the phone won't turn on?

You can boot into bootloader, do that. Plug your phone to the pc and make sure your phone is in fastboot (usb) mode, not in hboot mode.
Download this three things:
- http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
(copy to sdcard of your phone)
- the recovery from first post of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41456540#post41456540
(copy to the folder on your pc where your fastboot.exe is)
this stock rom for your variant (or another rom for your variant http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2512742
