I'm assuming this is on sense. Its probably due to lpa and the alsa drivers. Try changing the line in build.prop lpa.decode=true to false and reboot.
Oh and BTW..if you want to make sure if its truly hardware related flash my xylon ROM. If you still hear distortion then, its hardware.

Would this work for ViperXL? I posted a thread just below this in regards to bluetooth audio issues I'm b'lievin' to be driver-related.

it should work, also many of the popular sound mods have been updated since cleanrom 5.1 is getting relatively dated and doesn't really include any sound mods you could flash aznrice2k4 sound mod, new awesome beats or the new acid audio.
here is my list of sound mods hox audio.txt

well tried going all stock with ruu still the same problem later rooted again nd tried the alsa thing in build.prop didnt work also tried all the music mods but it didnt work either. maybe its a hardware problem afterall.. if any1 can reccomend something else.. can it be releated to s off in anyway? thanks every1

Any other alternatives?

can it be due to low cpu? i had set it once to min 192. now back to 810.. pls help

In all reality it sounds like a blown speaker.

Ya it very well may be blown but I did have same issue , I think I had corrupted audio files by installing on top of another audio app. It can be tricky repairing

If phone is under warranty return may be the best solution, lol make sure and post back what hboot and android version you get with new phone, just curious if it will come updated ( unlikely but curious)

ok guys it was my fault.. nothing wrong with the software. just tat dust trapped in the speaker.. cleaned with a brush. now all ok

My issue resolved with flashing the 2.20 RUU so the ViperXL ROM was definitely suspect. If not, what else could the RUU resolve that ViperXL could not? Looks like I'll be stuck on AT&T's JB update (downloading now) and no ViperXL for me. Bluetooth audio is far too important.

A lot of the newer roms include the audio fix, including attn1's latest. They should sound much better. Check out Android Revolution. It's quite popular, no audio issues

flash this ROM via Rom Manager:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964841
bella you did miss a step - the last step. You must flash a rom now to get audio back try the rooted stock rom it works well download the rom.zip, put it on your sd card, Install rom manager, flash clockwork through rom manager, reboot to recovery - now within recovery chose install from sd card, choose your rom.zip, and flash it. remember it's volume up and down to make a selection and power button to execute within recovery.

Yeah, reflash Android Revolution (the one in this Inspire Forum). Don't flash another kernel on top of it. It's already tweaked and ready to go.

You flash new ROMs using ClockworkMod Recovery. Personally I would try the inspired-dhd-afr003 ROM because it looks like the OP of att-inspire-rooted has given up on this ROM from the posts on the thread.

[Q] dumb question regarding porting

since our atrix 2 used only one referance in the build.prop for the radio and the new leaked sgII ics firmware also does and is already [email protected] is it posibul that it can be ported to our phone?
It doesn't matter how many references there are in the build.prop it has to be the same antenna. I don't think the sg2 has the same antenna as the Atrix 2.
ty I will now find what radio I was able to flash the other day while goofing around (was either one of the droids or the razr) and try to port that one ty

- That was designed for ICS
?
no not one for ics, but they already have ics roms that work for that one and it also works on the asian and our mb865 it is a little buggy as it does not like to turn the radio back on every once in a while after I put it in airplane mode and needs to be restarted as it tends to hang when it does that but over all it works very good

[Q] People can't hear me

Hi,
My phone has a strange problem since yesterday. All of a sudden, people can't hear me when calling. But when I turned on the speaker, they can hear me again. I was on cleanrom4.5, and my phone was not dropped at all. Initially, I thought it relates to the roms, I then tried different roms(stock, cleanrom, cm10), the same problem. Is there any suggestion? Thanks in advance!

Did you dirty flash any roms? Some roms have sound mods that might of conflicted if you didn't wipe everything first.
I had a similar issue with another phone when i would use headphones then unplug them i would only have speaker audio, because it didnt detect the headphone removal.

PSA: LagFix and CM10.1 w/ 3.4 kernel

Recently there have been reports of people with bricked devices (QHSUSB_DLOAD) when using the LagFix app from the Google Play store on the latest CM10.1 nightlies with the 3.4 kernel. Be careful, and be smart. If you have the app set to run every night, then disable it, unless you like to live dangerously.
This happened to me got it swapped though.
Bump for visibility.
Is this only related to CM10.1 or any other rom with the 3.4 kernel?
I wouldn't wanna risk it, I'd say play it safe if you're running the 3.4 kernel.

I agree, plus this is my 2nd HOX because the first one got bricked out of nowhere. Now that I think about it I was running CM10.1 and had LagFix to run automatically on certain days.....****. Well this was before I knew about the whole problem so this PSA is really important and should probably be pinned.
Randomly read this topic. I had lag fix installed when my hox bricked. Ugh.

Wow. How does the phone brick? You can't even get to the bootloader? This is quite serious, and extremely rare even. It's not common for a root app to hard brick a phone this way. I wonder what part of the app is making the brick, I'm afraid other apps or tweaks might trigger it, too. This should be identified and the developer should be notified...

QHSUSB_DLOAD (Qualcomm download mod) means no bootloader, no charging LED even.
If you could get into bootloader, it wouldn't be a brick, in almost all circumstances.

Looks like this should be a non-issue for users of CM10.2 because Google implemented fstrim to 4.3. http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...ld-fix-most-storage-related-device-slowdowns/

Low Mic Volume when on Speaker

I am very confused and I really need some help.
I have been installing some different roms and I tried to edit the mixer_paths file editing the volumes.
BEFORE (until yesterday) I had low mic volume (the others couldn't hear me) while NOT being on speaker. While when I was on speaker during a call the mic was working perfectly and the others could hear me.
TODAY I have the exact OPPOSITE problem. When I am NOT on speaker the others can hear me perfectly and the mic works fine. When I start the speaker the mic got totally muted and the others can't hear me!
So far I have found that the DEC4 value in the mixer paths file increase the mic volume when NOT on speaker.
Does anyone knows how can I raise the volume of the mic while I am on speaker?
I am using hte SULTANXDA CM13 rom.
thanks!
My mic worked and works good when im not on the speaker. But when i use the speaker its pretty bad and the other side cant really understand me. This has been a thing for me since i own this phone. No matter what ROM i tried from COS (11 & 12) to CM Official Nightlies (12 & 13) or even unofficial Builds (e.g. SultanXDA). Also i tried different Kernels and didnt mention any effect on this issue. I think it has something to do with echo cancellation.
So i dont know how you managed to have the opposite problem before yesterday, but the problem you have now is a normal thing for me and meanwhile im used to it ^^
Any solution for this?
experiencing the same.

I had to get rid of darkobus... It would start to lag a lot. Try saosp
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/rom-saosp-m-t3267790
Make sure you have a twrp version older than 3.x. Also, read how and what to flash on the first post. Xposee and gravitybox is great on this rom to get the features it doesn't have. It's a pretty bare bones ROM... But at least things work.
I can confirm speaker mic is working with this ROM though. Used it this morning
