[Q] Wifi Error on ViperXL - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I have been running ViperXL for a few weeks now. Really happy with everything, then last night I tried to flash ElemenalX Kernel which resulted in a bootloop. I had made a backup in TWRP before trying to flash and restored from that. Everything came back except the WIFI. It now says Error under wifi in the settings menu. Any help would be appreciated.

from elemental x op
Note about WiFi
If you go back to stock kernel after installing ElementalX-v4.4 or higher, you will need to restore the wifi module to stock. The ElementalX installer renames the original module to prima_wlan.ko.bak. You can restore the stock module by doing the following:
1. go to /system/lib/modules
2. delete prima_wlan.ko
3. rename prima_wlan.ko.bak to prima_wlan.ko
4. reboot

Okay, thanks. Sorry I didn't see that. I installed it from the VenomHUB. Is there a way to do this from the phone? I am at work without a usb cable.

use root explorer or a app like it

Using root explorer, I see the prima_wlan.ko that it says to delete, but don't have a prima_wlan.ko.bak to rename.

only other thing that i can think to do is do a wipe and reinstall the rom

Ok, Will do. Thanks again for the help. I can live without wifi for the day, I'll do a clean install when I get home.

Had the same problem. I ran the elemental installer a second time and it fixed the problem.

OK, all fixed up. Did a full reinstall of ViperXL last night and everything is working as it should. Thanks for the help.

Can't install ANY rom.

I am on 4.0.0.9 and every single rom I try to install, I get stuck on this screen:

I have tried clearing the cache and wiping the data before installing the roms, I have tried 3 so far and have tried redownloading all of them.
I have tried reflashing CWM, I have exhausted all means that I know of. I was running tasteless venom just fine until I decided to try flashing a newer rom, and it has been hanging here for hours without any signs of booting.
I'm stumped, any ideas?
I get this too occasionally, all my nandroids do this. Let me tell you how fun it is to have to re-set up the entire phone after each different ROM I flash.

Did you clear the system partition in mounts and storage before flashing a new rom?
Did you flash the correct kernel? Did you flash any kernel at all?
Well this is an easy fix. Get the official cwm. I'm surprised no1 told you yet. The real cwm is 5.0.2.7 I think. Update with rom manager to the latest recovery

i haven't had any problem at all flashing ROMs with that version of CWM. plus, if you can't boot into any ROM you won't be able to use Rom Manager.
i might suggest checking that your system is mounted both before flashing the ROM, and before rebooting. i believe that would be found in 'Mounts and Storage' in recovery, and you would want it to say 'unmount' next to system, meaning that it is mounted. in some cases when you need to do that, you will have the problem you're having if you forget to check. good luck
Learn how to use adb to install the latest official cmw and you will unbrick your phone.

[Q] [q] please help me

Fellas, can I please get some help
I have been trying to install the 4.0.4 on my rooted and unlocked boot loader on my samsung galaxy nexus. Mainly because I want to see if the volume and signal are better. I have clockwork Mod Touch installed version 5.8.0.2 and also downloaded the tool kit by:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400871
My drivers on my CPU correctly but I keep on getting this and it wont install anything. Ii did not want to install a new ROM but after so many errors I backed up my Stock 4.0.2 just to make sure and tried to load Gummy and that gave the same error. (I dont want the Gummy ROM) I just want the 4.0.4 here is a screen shot of the error message it is showing me. Guys, Thanks for your help in advance.

For one, it looks like the file isn't signed. Toggle signature verification off if you have the option (I don't know if CWM has the option, I don't use it).
There's something else that is going wrong, but I'm not quite sure what. Try reflashing the recovery. If that doesn't help, backup the SD card, format it, and try again.
So do u think I should delete clockwork mod apps and delete files from SD card then reinstall?

You need to get a copy of the stock recovery.img. Then place the image in the root of your /sdcard. Reboot to CWM recovery. Connect your PC to your phone.
1. Mount emmc in cwm recovery
2. adb shell
3. su. Don't need root here but can't remember since it has been awhile.
4. dd if=/emmc/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22
5. Exit, exit
6. Reboot system

Issue installing PlayStore App's.

Having some trouble getting app's to install at the PlayStore all of a sudden:/ I've tried clearing PlayStore Data and Cache and and clearing data from Google Services Framework but still nothing. I still have over 8 gigs left on internal memory. Not sure why I'm having this issue. Any insight would be much appreciated. There was another thread about this and attempted to locate the troubled apps file under Data/app's as instructed by a fellow member from that post but unfortunately I can't find those certain app files to delete. I'm able to download some app's but not others.

Looks like I'll be doing a factory reset in hopes to get this resolved. What a pain.

Update: Factory Reset resolved it. It also kept my root which was nice.

You won't loose root unless you flash an OTA, or stock root through ODIN... What you got will stay....
As you have root you could also have done a nandroid backup. This allows you, after factory reset, to re-install under advanced option all your Apps(data). This may or may not be of help if there's a problem in the data but it is something to look at later... It's also good to get nandroid backup, after everythings tested working, so instead of a facvtory reset you can just restore most of your setup how you like it. I try to do a backup at least once a week... and keep the previous backup in case of problems...

what recovery do you have?
are you on S-ON or S-OFF?
which rom did you try to flash?
edit: if the mods can move this thread it is in the wrong section

As far as I know, that's a superbrick on the MMC for /data. If you want to get around the newfound hardware damage, you'll need the SD-EXT boot mod that's modified for a damaged internal partition.
probably is what Harakhti said
if you used any wipe option from twrp then you have the false twrp
Thanks the boot mod finally got me to flash a Rom but now when the phone is booting it restarts
