How do you update dock firmware? - Asus Transformer TF700

I had the tf700 and the dock for over a month now and I haven't gotten any notice in terms of the dock firmware upgrade. Mine is currently mobile dock version 105 and I have looked at other threads to find a solution but nothing. I tried reflashing back to stock firmware and undocked/docked the tablet but still nothing. I am currently rooted but still locked on JB. Anyone know how to update? or manually? I found out that if you go to about tablet and repeatedly click on mobile dock version, it takes you to another menu for a manual update to Pad EC, dock isp, and camera isp but I can't find the necessary files online to install them.

Which dock model do you have, and what doesn't work with the current firmware?

There may well be an issue with your serial number not being registered with ASUS. Does your 700 receive OTA updates? The latest dock firmware is 0207 -- you might try and find the older FULL firmwares to update with -- the incremental stock updates do not seem to have it onboard.

Yes I can receive updates from Asus. When I first got the tablet it told me to install the jb firmware. Isn't the jb firmware considered a full system firmware? And also i don't have to be on its to be able to receive the dock updates right? I'm on 4.1.1

It's bc I have mobile dock version 105 and I heard the 207 is the most recent. So I'm trying to update my dock firmware to 207 somehow. I heard you need to flash with a full firmware but which are considered full firmware as opposed to incremental?

Do you have the newer dock? version 207 is the latest for the tf201 dock version. and If I remembered correctly version 105 is the latest for the tf500 dock.

Ohhhh I see. Then miine is prob the tf500 dock? Is this the same as the tf700? So there's only tf201 and tf500/700 dock? That might be the reason I'm not getting any update prompts for the dock....thanks a bunch for enlightening me

Ugh -- I knew all these dock types were going to shoot someone in the foot. If it were not ASUS, then us. Or, rather, me.
BTW: for perspective (and to diminish the pain a little): I have the TF201 dock, so I couldn't have less of a clue whatever dock firmware version your spiffy 500/700 dock should be.

8.6.6.9 on tf101

hi all
just got my transformer (tf101 wifi only) back from asus after repair - looks like they changed the firmware to 8.6.6.9 but I thought this was for the 3G version only.
am I wrong and 8.6.6.9 was for all products?
thanks

It's 8.6.5.9 and yes, it's for all models, though not available in Japan yet.

no. It says 8.6.6.9 in the firmware (not 8.6.5.9). So my question still stands. I thought this was for 3g models only.
Yea you are correct, the non 3G firmware is still 8.6.5.9
The 3G Firmware is 8.6.6.9
Another member on the TF Forums says he managed to flash the 3G FW to his non 3G TF and it flashed and booted, but had issues

thanks. Looks like Asus screwed up and flashed the wrong firmware. It works fine but I just wanted update to the latest to get the cursor and browser improvements.

It doesn't really matter which firmware you put on a wifi model. So far they all seem to work fine. They have the right drivers and profiles necessary to function normally (gps, wifi, etc). But if you want the telephony, etc. working, on a 3G model, you definitely need a 3G supported firmware.
Mine was also repaired (came back Thursday) and now it's 8.6.6.9. And it's not 3G. Nothing seems majorly updated.

I took your advice and called Asus and asked "WTF?". They didn't say much but went off to slap someone around and said they would call me back.

I guess the only option is to do a full install of stock 3.2 (ww) then? How does one go about doing this?
Or: surely the 3G version gets the same firmware updates, but with a different schedule? Maybe leave it as it is?

Mine also came back with that version... 8.6.6.9 on tf101 not 3g...

Decided to reinatall with zerofeels full stock firmware from this site. Then got ota update and fixed all settings, the tf was back to correct firmware in about 1.5 hours. No biggie.
I tried this (asus asked me to) but for the life of me I can't get the transformer to recognize there is a firmware update on the sd card. It just doesn't see it. I've unzipped the update so that the "asus" directory is in the root folder of the sd card.
any ideas?

lol... alright!!! the first thing you did wrong was take my advice you say you are running 8.6.6.9 ( that was released 8/12/2011 for the TF101G) and that does not have the dock update 0213. They did another update on 8/25/2011 for the TF101G which brings it to 8.6.6.10 and that does have the new dock firmware...bla bla bla....
I just nvflashed stock WW 8.6.6.9 and was able to upgrade (asus's way with the microsd card) to WW 8.6.6.10 and it worked (I didn't think it was going too work). Asus's way of upgrading http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/EeePAD/TF101G/e6754_TF101_Update_SOP.pdf (page 4)
It doesn't get you back to the TF101 firmware, but at least you'll be up to date until asus gets back to you . I hope they can help you out without another RMA

[Q] How to update manually

How do i update my tf tot 8.5.6.19 manually? Because when I check for new updates it says that i have the newest firmware installed...
And is there also a site where i can download the updates from?
Grtz
http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Transformer_TF101/#download
Download/Android OS/Firmware etc.
look for the "update SOP" in the manuals or downloads, but in a nutshell, unzip it and place the ASUS folder on your external sdcard. Insert the sdcard and you *should* get a notification to update.

After a few weeks, the latest firmware will show up. Until then, you can download the .13 firmware and upgrade manually to .19- either by checking for the OTA or by searching for it here, although it might only be the US or WW version.

Well now you're on an up to date version (assuming you ment 8.6.5.19), so it will not notify you that an update is available until another update comes out. You'll have to downgrade to an older version. I've never done that so I'm not sure how well it will work, or if it will work.
In the future, I highly recommend not flashing your device with a firmware released for a different location.

[Q] No Root after repair

Hey guys.
Here is my story i hope you can help me: I am from Germany and got a B8O Tab. I had rootet it with Razorclaw and installed CWM and some Custom Roms.
One Day my left headphone speaker was dead. So i had to return my tablet to Asus. I unrooted it with ViperMod. It worked perfect. I was back on stock without root and CWM. I could root again and unroot with Vipermod (tested)
Now i got my Tablet back. It wasnt configurated so i know that they had put an fresh Rom installation on it. But they did the WW 8.6.6.23 on it. NOT the DE Version.
End of the Story is, now i cannot root anymore. I tried ViperMod and Nachoroot (manuell) and both stop by the exact same point. After the second reboot "id" has to be 0 but it is something like 2000.
Now i cant root (God knows why) and cannot put the DE Version on it. I think the root doesnt work because it is an German Tab with the WW Version now.
Have someone an Idea how i can solve this problem? Just want root back so i can use custom roms again.
I'm having the issue. "vid=2000<shell> gid=2000<shell>" every time.

I thought of that too but the problem is i have an TF101G and this one doesnt have IC until now. The IC Updates are all for the Wifi only version.
But if IC is avaibled for the TF101G can i just install the German Version over the WW?

ViperMod worked before i send the transformer to Asus. I used it to get back to Stock and unroot. I tested it if i can root again and it worked perfectly. But after i get it back from Asus it has the WW Version instead of the DE (German) and now Vipermod isn't working anymore.
I think it has to do something with this WW Version but im not sure of it.
Any Ideas?
I'm having the issue. "vid=2000<shell> gid=2000<shell>" every time.
So i managed to go back to the German Version. First success!
But root still isnt working. I really dont know why.

Settings --> About tablet --> Build number
There you will find something like "XX_epad" in the middle of that very long string. In which XX = your tablet's SKU. It can be US, WW, TW, etc.
Sorry, I don't have my tablet in my hands. Cannot get you a screenshot. I am sure there's some around the forum.
Let me know if you can find it

Awesome i see its the US version. I have found it on Asus website. Now one more thing and this may sound stupid. I see it says put it in adb/fastboot. where is that exactly haha thanks again
Oh wait, I guess you haven't unlocked the infinity yet. Fastboot is available only after unlocking. I haven't unlocked mine, so I am not very familiar with that.
Using adb connecting to your tablet through command prompt is essentially the same as running terminal emulator on the tablet. I guess you should be familiar with adb as you hacked many phones already.
You know what. I heard that the unlock tool also works in JB for TF300T. I guess it should be working on TF700T with JB also. You can try it first before downgrading.
You can try this guide to downgrade to .30. Just download the .30 file instead of .22 stated in the post.

[Q] DLPKG files for TW SKU

Hi friends,
I have a TW SKU of the tf700, I recently downgraded to ICS .30 to obtain root, but after that my tablet cannot receive any OTA updates anymore. I can't seem to find a solution to fix this, so the only thing left for me to do is to manually update through dlpkg files. However, I cannot find any dlpkg for TW SKU anywhere on xda. So, I would really appreciate if you guys can help with either:
1. Fix the OTA update issue (no matter how I check system update, it always says no update available):
I simply followed the instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925230 and flashed ICS .30 firmware and ran Debugfs to root. As such, I did not made any changes to builds.prop or any other files for that matter. I have also done a factory reset, clear data of dmclient, cmclient but still no luck in getting any JB OTA updates.
2. Links to dlpkg files for TW SKU.
Thanks a lot.

The reason why I cannot manually flash full JB firmwares is that I will lose root if I do so. Since my tablet is still locked, downgrading is the only way to obtain root and then apply OTA updates to reach the latest version. Sadly I can't find any OTA update files for TW SKU.
Even though the firmware download page says you can't do SKU conversions, I think several people have done it - so if you don't find TW dlpkgfiles, maybe you can flash the US or WW version of 9.4.5.30 and then update that. But try to find someone who can confirm that this really works.

Thanks for the suggestion, I guess that is the only other alternative I can explore. The thing I am concerned about is that I don't want to void my warranty (which explains why my tablet is still locked), but to me SKU conversion seems to fall within the area that may cause troubles when I send my tablet to ASUS service center in the future. I definitely will read up on this, but it will be great if someone can provide verification.
