Hi, I'm trying to debug my first app in Android on my new Samsung Galaxy S3, but Eclipse says me the next message.
Code:
Installation failed due to invalid APK file! unable open zip "data/local/tmp/Asteroids.apk"
My S3 has a stock rom and it is rooted. I think this is a permission problem, but I don't know how to fix it.
Thanks for your help.

Yes, I have read that this is a problem of permissions on stock roms. But I don't want to flash a Custom ROM.

Hello everyone,
I have been searching around these forums and Google for 4 days now and i am unable to find what i am looking for. I can find a lot of stuff that is similar to my problem but none of those solutions have worked so far.
I want to try to get ICS to run on my GT-I9000 if possible, and most of all i wish to get rid of any bloatware that is on my phone. (BOL.com app and MMM amongst others)
I believe i managed to root it using Superuser and ClockworkMod.
Here is the actual problem, Upon installing a rom from SDcard i get the following error.
--Install /sdcard ...
E:Short write of /tmp/sideload/package.zip (No space left on device)
Installation aborted.

This error occurs AFTER i wiped data and the cache partition.
Obviously i missed something here, What did i miss?

Trying to install a .apk but keeps coming up with " [INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_APK] "
I had 4.0 before and they downloaded fine. I flashed with Jelly Bean and now this error.
I assume its because Jelly Bean is new but maybe I'm wrong can anyone help me?
Hi.. since nobody post an answer and has some views, i think you already got the answer, probably an incompatible JB apk, as an example Flash player will not be supported in Jelly Bean. Maybe after the OTA?
When one creates an APK, it has a manifest file containing a property called uses-sdk. This property has minSdk and maxSdk attributes.
My guess is that it's limited/maxed to ICS SDK version (which is 15), rather then JB SDK number (16).

yeah flash is incompatible with JB if u trying to install it from play store, although u can still install flash on ur JB, it will most likely crush ur browsers every time u will try to access pages with flash content.

This doesn't have anything to do with Flash, I am getting this too on both the SDK port (4.1) And the newer built-from-source ports (4.1.1)
Code:
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_APK]
No matter what apk I try to install from the adb command line.
I get this same message when trying to do "adb install" on a a JB rom. I dont know why though
I've just installed 4.1.1 and have just the same issue
logcat says Unable to open zip '/data/local/tmp/myapp': Permission denied and fails. but when I copy apk to sdcard and installing it from file manager everything works just fine.
i have the same problem, cant use phone for dev
I have the same issue. After getting the installation error, I looked at the file permissions on my device in the /data/local/tmp directory. They are 600 and owned by root:root. I believe these file permissions need to be 666, but I don't know how to get them to be set correctly. Connecting via adb and running 'umask' shows 077 and my co-worker's umask is 000 and his phone (galaxy nexus with JB) works just fine. I am guessing somehow adb's umask is wrong and I have no idea how to get it set correctly.
BTW: I have i9020a
What I ended up doing was downloading a App installer off the market. and placing the APK file on my phone and installing it using the app installer. Works wonders
i need help gettng these modded jb apps on my phone :crying:

I am using recovery versions 5.0.2.0 for my Google Nexus One phone.
Flashing ROM: CM 10.2 Rom for the N1
How can I solve this issue, need your help. Thanks in advance. :cyclops:
Other things I've tried: Flashing the rom from boot.img from the zipped file via fastload
I also checked for assert command in the script file but there aren't any.

Hi,
Which version is recommended, the highest that is compatible. According to the ROM manager page of clockworkmod, this is the only one available for the nexus one.

you would have to get a ported (non offical: should work just as fine as offical but there could be some other added stuff.) version since you want Cm 10.2 5.x.x.x should work but just to be on the safe side you should try getting 6.0.4.5. should only have to download a zip of whatever you find and flash it in your current recovery.

I get Image Update Error when updating the 6.0.4.5 version. I've chosen on for another device because there isn't any 6.0.4.5 version for Nexus One.
I checked the free available space. In the SD Card I've have plenty (more than 2GB), but /system has 0% available. This might cause the flash to fail. Is there any option to free up space before I flash the ROM?
Update: even after formatting the system directory I still get the same error, this it not the problem so it seems.

your gonna have to ask the nexus ones offical Q&A then http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-one/help if i right with this problem you have to do something specifically and differently for every device so just ask the pros on your device first.

Status 7 error comes due to system folder being full.. I m not a nexus one user and its a common problem..
Open the rom zip of your file delete some apps from system/app then flash the rom..
This will solve your status 7 error..
hi
Ok I've tried to find answers online myself and in this forum and getting more confused instead of getting my issues sorted. I've got a sony xperia e C1505 and I want to get rid of the bloatware on it. To do that i know it needs rooted. I've downloaded framaoot ( i know this will sound very clueless but not sure what version, the file name extends off the screen and i had a couple of versions at one point as i was having difficulty installing them via the pc, kept getting parsing errors)
The one I have has the option to install superSU which I've left and both Aragorn and Gandalfexploits. I keep getting error #7. I placed the apk file from my pc onto my phone in the sd card so not sure what the issue would be. I tried the oldest and newest apk files from the xda thread about rooting using framaroot but had parsing errors.
Can anyone give me a bit of advice? It seems like a really simple thing to do in theory just not in practice and it's getting really frustrating that I dont knw how to resolve the errors on framaroot..
thanks

1. Download the update file. ( https://samsung.firmware.science/download?url=48974/1488/SS-G892AUCS2ARA1-to-U2BRB2-UP )
2. Place file on your SD card.
3. Reboot into recovery (hold bixby+Vol up + power)
4. Wait like 15 sec for recovery to boot, may look like it gives you an error but it boots.
5. Select install update from SD card, and select the file that you copied to the SD card.
6. Let it install, after that enjoy Oreo.

Yes, yes, and yes.
The last link in the OP will update you from QL1 to ARA1 if you need to. Probably better just to install through Odin tho.
You should be on 2ARA1 to update to BRB3, the latest link tells you what version it updates you from and to.
And installing an update.zip will erase your data usually, but there is a way to get around it by turning your phone off at a certain part during the update.

You should update to ARA1, you won't lose data if you flash HOME_CSC. There's a new bypass method for the wipe that occurs during sideload https://pastebin.com/pNKQrfva

You can use the ql1-bra3 ota, to skip ara1, but make sure you follow the guidelines to avoid the wipe.
