Unlocked and rooted but no s-off, can i flash custom roms? - HTC Sensation

After much effort i have finally unlocked my bootloader thnnx to htc dev, flash my recovery using 4EXT, and have rooted it using supersu.zip or whatever. So can i install any custom roms now? Ive been reading only certain roms can be used if you do not have s-off? is this true? and if so which ones can i use?

Hi,
I think you are looking at the stock ROMS.
Look HERE
Pick the one you want.

okay..so now which one should i choose? Download Android Revolution HD 6.8.0?
Download Android Revolution HD 6.8.0 XE?
Download Android Revolution HD 1.2.2 T-Mobile?

Hi,
The first is basic ARHD
The second has beats
And the third is for T-MOUS phones.

so i should use the t-mobile one? Plus it must match my firmware because i still have s-on correct?

Hi,
Do you have a T-MOUS phone?
Then, you must use that one.
Firmware is only changeable if you are s-off.
But you should be fine using the one you have.
Having said that ,I have no idea which one you have ,because you have given no details about your phone or setup.
If you want help, you can help people by giving this basic information,so that it is not necessary to guess what answer would be suitable for your circumstances...

I checked the firmware versions and thw t-mobile one is the only one that will work so i will proceed with that. Thank you for all your help.

Hey, this might be stupid, but isn't it just waaaaaay easier to rum gingerbreak (or even flash a SuperUser.zip)? If you'e flashing a ROM and want something close to stock, why not flash LBC mod? What's the need for "Pre-Rooted Stock ROMs" ?

Hi Adidas108 ,
My Bootloader version is 0.98.0002 i wanna downgrade it to 0.98.0000 for this purpose can i use the pre-rooted rom of yours to get a rooted mobile and then proceed with changing of the version number and flash another rom with 0.98.0000 bootloader.
P.S Already tried to downgrade and ROOT mobile but Gingerbreak is not working for me , I think the exploit is fixed in my version

to be honest i'm not sure do u need to be rooted first to flash .zip's because i personaly never try this roms on non-rooted phone. In theory if u have clockworkmod recovery u can flash .zip files.

To go back to previous hBoot download and flash as normal. It worked for me. Let me know how you go on for next step.
Before you do anything install HTC sync, boot your phone normal, connect with USB and double click what you just downloaded. Atleast it will give you previous HBoot.

Hi, Install HTC sync from HTC site about 150MB or around , because when you run RUU and software puts your phone to fastboot, it looks for drivers and if the drivers arent there you will get error. Also try Thi version of RUU. One of them should work and put your phone to previous HBoot. After that do complete uninstalltaion of HTC sync and install drivers from Alpharec's site and do the rest. I hope that you are successful.

Stupid question, what are the disadvantages of using a Europe or Asia ROM in Australia? Previously have only flased on the Telstra WWE ROMs since that is what came stock, but want to try the newer Europe 1.47 ROM with newer radio.
I know it will remove the telstra branding, e.g. boot screen and apps. But that's ok cos I actually WANT that. Just wondering the downsides. E.g. will my Australian APNs all disappear? Will the language locale be wrong or something?
Does this includes HBOOT?
I`m S-OFF with Alpharef, so i have this 6.28.... something HBOOT Version.
When i try to install this ROM, did it flash the HBOOT back to 9000?
I have a T-Mobile branding, that`s why i want to install the clear HTC stock rom.

[Q] HTC Sensation with cm9, faux, and ARHD

Hello Guys!
First: Sorry for my worst english, i've learned it only from movies and games.
I dont want to post a new thread, but i cant find the answer for MY question.
I want to install Android Revolution HD for my Sensation Z710e.
My phone is: HTC Sensation Z710e
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: 11.76A.3504.00P_11.24A.3504.31_M
Kernel version: 3.0.42-MSM8660-Sense-Faux123-v009+
Cyanogenmod: CM 9.1.0-pyramid
CWM version: 5.0.2.0
I want to install ARHD, but i dont know, because i cant find any instruction, and i'm afraid that i will brick my phone.
I've found great instructions, but not for my CM9 or my kernel.
Or did i complicates too, and the install is easier than I thought?
So can i install ARHD with CM9 and these settings above, or i need to flash back the stock ICS and kernel? Or simply download ARHD files, and flash with CMW, and it works?
Please help me if you can, and i'm really sorry if someone already wrote that problem and got the correct answer.
Thank thank thank thank you!!!

S-ON or S-OFF?
also i suggest you to flash 4ext recovery.it is better than cwm
You could always flash an RUU and start from scratch. It will keep you s-off'ed if you already are, will put a matching radio and firmware. From there you can follow the instructions on the ARHD page.

[Q] Flashing a ROM on HTC Sensation 4g

Hello everyone,
I recently bought HTC Sensation 4g (T-mobile) and it's already S-OFF, rooted (Superuser by ClockworkMod) and recovery is CWM 5.0.2.0 and it has stock rom Android 2.3.4. Recently, I got alerted about an update of 4.0.4 for my HTC then I downloaded it but can't install it so I guess it's because it's rooted. I really want to install 4.0.4 on my HTC sensation 4g then I searched up for roms until I found this rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654347
Now, my question is, how should I flash it? Should I normally just flash it via CWM or via odin? Or I will have to go back to stock recovery for flashing the rom that Steve0007 posted on the thread linked above. And just to confirm, is it compatible with my device?
Android: 2.3.4
HTC Sense: 3.0
Software number: 1.50.531.1
Thanks!

Need bootloader details (first 5 lines in bootloader) before we can help at all. This will tell us whether the device is s-on of s-off, SuperCID, hboot version, etc.
Also, do you know how to get into recovery, and what recovery (TWRP or CWM) and version number.
Don't update anything until we tell you to. Its possible to brick the device without proper knowledge at this point.
Ok here are the details you asked:

Which is "better" is a personal choice, and we can't make that choice for you. Also, there are custom ROMs that are close to stock, but clean of bloatware and with some other optimizations.
Whether you pick official firmware or a custom ROM is up to you. But you are already setup for flashing custom ROMs, so that would just be a matter of picking one (or try a couple) that look good, putting them on the SD and flashing in custom recovery.
The reason your phone will not install the latest official update, is that the OTA needs to have stock recovery to install (and you have custom recovery installed). If you want to be on official firmware, its probably best to find the latest RUU for your carrier, run the RUU. Then OTA to the latest update.
Tnx for everything man, i looked for custom ROM and i decided that might be better then officiall update. It have newest android version and sense 5.0 so i think i am going to use custom.
But all of them are look the same... Can you recommend some good ones because you are experienced on that field and i am total newbie. TNX
I don't know about redpoint but I would say that it all depends on what you want. If you want stock sense 5 att experience go with cleanrom 7. If you want almost every mod imaginable go with viper xl 4.2.0 then there are other roms that are in between. There are 2 stock ROMs as well as one ported ROM. Depends on prefrances. 2 things to know though. If you want sense 5 you need to run 3.18 ruu and upgrade the hboot to 2.15. then get the latest recovery of your choice.

Asking for a ROM recommendation isn't allowed, to say one ROM is better infers that others are inferior in some way. This isn't fair to the devs who spend their spare time bringing us these ROMs free of charge. I know @phonegeekjr has already recommended one but he shouldn't have. It's up to the user to have a look through the ROMs that are available and make a choice.
You do need to run the 3.18 RUU though, and then flash the 2.15 firmware package in order for any Sense 5 ROM to run without signal loss or random reboots.

You want to install the entire 2.15 firmware package to run Sense 5 ROMs, not just upgrade the hboot. Upgrading hboot does close to nothing, at least for potential signal drop and reboot issues on Sense 5 ROMs.

If they all look the same, then you need to read more and understand what the various features mean.
Really, in the time you asked for a recommendation and waited for a response, you could have just flashed a ROM and started trying it out.
