Xoom wont charge.. Help - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When plugged into the charger the white light comes on for a minute or two then goes out. Xoom wont charge. Even tied using the standard dock.
When i boot into Rsd it says
Starting RSD protocol support 3
OneWire: Charger is connected....
Error reading batter status. Use at your own risk.

It will boot into android but battery shows 0%. Shuts off once you unplug it
Opened the xoom up and all looks good inside
When I bought it off ebay a came with a aftermarket charger. The charger would get really hot, I wonder if it ruined the battery overtime

sounds like they battery is bad. You can buy a replacement here

When Nexus S is off why do I see a white battery with "!" symbol?

Hi all, I'm not talking about the recovery triangle with the exclamation point, but when charging the S in my car, I noticed that the battery icon in the notification tray would charge for a few minutes, then stop charging and the battery icon would just go static at 75%.
So I turned off the phone, and was then presented with a black background and white battery icon, with a flashing exclamation point.
I unplugged, and plugged back in, and the battery started indicating it was charging via ascending white stripes, But then it stopped and changed to an exclamation point again.
The battery was only 50-75% full.
Could it have been overheating in my windscreen (I'm in LA)? Or is there some other issue with the charger. What does the ! mean?
Is your battery original? Maybe your charger is not supported. Not sure about this. Can you take a screenshot?

I think that your car charger doesn't deliver enough power to charge the Nexus S battery. Some smartphones are draining more power then they are becoming from the charge unit when connected to the car.

This does not explain the error when charging with phone off.
I would exchange the phone under warranty if possible.

I know that. Screenshot means that you take a picture shot of the screen.

It's never a good idea to leave a phone, or any electronics, in a hot car during the summer. The combination of a hot car and heating up the battery while charging could be bringing the phone's temperature too high. It could be the charger isn't wired up for the standard micro usb charging. I've seen this with lg chargers and phones and data cables. It could be a bad flash.
If it can fully charge inside on an ac charger, then I might suspect the charger in the car. If it acts the same with a different car charger then it could be the phone. Try a 12vdc usb female charger with a data cable plugged into the phone. Try flashing the phone back completely to stock and do more process of elimination.
Thanks.
This is a brand new phone with original battery, stock ROM, not even rooted.
The charger worked fine always on its previous owner, a Nexus One. It is hard wired into my car so not easy to change.
I wonder if the Nexus S has overhead protection that stops charging?
A screenshot is quite a challenge ;-)

43 degrees Celsius is the trigger point where it starts/stops taking a charge because of heat.
Heat
Its a samsung battery protection system the same system that wont let u over charge the battery once the battery gets too hot it will go in to this protected mode wit the exclamation mark
had it on both my samsung vibrant and the nexus s 4g

Charging while using gps :(

Before I got this charge I ran nothing but HTC phones on tmobile. while being plugged into car charger and using gps the battery level goes down fast. It doesn't maintain the charge or add to it while navigating. Is this a samsung thing? Any remedies?

That cannot be right. Make sure your car charger, when it charges your phone, is pulling AC instead of USB.
GPS uses very little juice. Just get the 950ma Motorola charger from Amazon for 5 bucks. Something is messed up if your phone doesn't charge

Mine doesn't discharge, but it doesn't charge hardly at all. I'm using the Verizon dual port charger (the one that has a USB port on it as well as the standard charging end)

I use a Monoprice 2A USB charger with an OEM USB cable. Charges extremely slowly or just stays level, but never drains.

With GPS on, you barely Charge with that charger? I know its limited by the kernel at 800mA or so, but damn, that should charge you up fine.
I rock GPS in the car all the time and I still Charge pretty quickly...

All depends on what you're running at that time-4G, cell and GPS reception, etc.

Make sure you are using a high amp charger. I like the one from Motorola.
Even so, with 4g and the screen on - the phone charges slowly. Turn the screen off and it charges much quicker.

Terrifying moment yesterday

I bought a car charger on Amazon. Yesterday I plugged my skyrocket into it and something weird happened. Somehow the charger acted as a jig and put my phone into download mode. Scared the piss out if me. Fortunately I was able to reboot with no harm done.

Nice lol. To bad it wasnt a usb cable lol then youd be on to something
I had a charger make my touch screen not respond. Plugged my girlfriends inspire into it and it did the samething.

AT least you guys don't have to by jig. now just go out and start playing with ur beast because all the soft brick will be fixed using those chargers. haha

I had a charger scare, too
In a sleepy state, I plugged my Skyrocket in to my nearby charger. When I woke up, I realized it wasn't my charger, but my daughter's Kindle Fire charger (still microUSB). I read the output: 5V, 1.8A. That's significantly more than the Skyrocket's wall charger. But my Skyrocket seems none the worse for it.
Haha this happens to me too...anytime i am plugged in to a power source and try power in to cwm it goes into dload mode

P6210 Battery not charging

When I have the tablet shut off it shows 100% charge, and I turn it on and it shows 0% and the red X over the battery. A couple days ago I was charging it and it took about 10 hours just to get 15-20% battery. So I just decided to let it run dead and re-charge it tonight and now its not even wanting to charge (as of this post).
Has anyone else's had this problem or know why this is happening? Thanks.
Battery will show an x if 1) you are charging from a PC 2) Your charger is not working properly
Since you are saying that it started charging very slowly, then i suggest you buy a new charger.
Hope this helps.

I was having charging issues a couple of months ago, similar to you. Sent tablet back to Samsung and they determined that I had a faulty charger. Samsung replaced it, and it charges fine now. Only use the genuine Samsung charger, not any aftermarket chargers.

I think my battery's screwed up

Hey guys. I didn't use my note for a week or so and it's battery fully drained. When I tried charging it using the wall charger the screen would turn on give that charging indicator for about 4 seconds and then the screen would turn off and then would. repeat the whole process. I kept it plugged in for about two hours, removed the charger booted up the note and found out it charged only 10%. So I plugged in the wall charger again, and I noticed an x symbol over the battery indicator on the note 10.1. After this I tried using my OTG devices on the note also but even they wouldn't be recognized. Has anyone else encountered suck a problem. Is there any solution?

Dude I removed it only to see if it was charging or not -.-. I had to charge it for 22 hours for it to get to 100%.

The charger and cable are in perfect condition. I tried using it to charge some of my other devices.
