Have u tried connecting to your computer?

Give this a try. With the phone charged take the battery out press volume up and power button then insert the battery. If that does not work take batter out press the volume up and power button again but this time insert the charger and battery while holding. If you succeed with any of this two methods install a different kernel original on if possible.

dead battery, & thats it...

im running a miui build from abt 2 weeks ago, idk how relevant that is... BUT i let my phone discharge completely til it died. now when its on the charger, it boots to the miui screen, sometimes even the lockscreen, then craps out. i get that the battery is too low to hold a charge, but wat can i do? i tried charging in download mode, but it eventually reboots. custom roms wont allow us to charge the phone while off, so anyone have any suggestions, as i am in this constant bootloop????????
Sounds like you need a new battery, the phone is supposed to shutdown long before there is damage to the battery but a completely discharged lithium battery may never take a charge again, but if you can't charge with the phone off then you may have other issues.
Id hop on Ebay and find a replacement battery. Them work from there

This is my experience i am on miui also and the other day I had the same thing happen and I just did the three button trick to boot into recovery and left it in recovery for about 15-20 mins then reboot and it started to charge. Hope this helps.
Yikes, I guess ill have to remind myself to never let my battery deplete. Although I thought it was recommended to let battery cash in at least once per month.

howd you get it to boot into recovery? when it boots, it goes straight from the circular dotted charging/loading symbol to my miui boot animation, NO samsung screen so i dont know when to let go of the power. ive tried at random times, but no dice. i dont have enough juice to unplug, boot into CWM, then replug

Pull and replace the battery and Hold both volume buttons and the power button at same time.... Phone will reboot, once you see samsung splash screen let go of power button while still holding both volume buttons and cwm should come up.
I Should have said while being plugged in. Mine was via usb

i never got to the samsung screen, but your first suggestion worked. when it booted to the lockscreen, i quickly unlocked, turned off wifi, gps, and adjusted screen brightness, then i wa able to boot into recovery and let it charge a minute... thanks for ur help & to the other the guy that tried
I've had this happen also with a totally discharged battery and CM7. Booted to download mode and wiped with Odin, reflashed CM7.
I had this happen with CM7 a couple weeks ago. A couple guys asked if I was using the actual Samsung charger and pointed out that it has some charging internals that work with a low battery situation that other chargers may not have.
So, were you using the Samsung charger or another USB power source?

Does it show the charging symbol on the powered down phone when you plug the charger in? Maybe your power button is broken.
Make sure you are using the AC adaptor to charge and not a usb cable.
Nope, nothing atall :-(. The only indecation its doing anything is that the battery is getting warm.
Try this with both of your batteries, separately:
1. Remove battery from phone.
2. Wait for 5 minutes.
3. Put battery back in and connect to AC adapter (not usb)
4. Wait 5 minutes.
5. Press the power button.
6. Re-try 1-5 with the other battery.
Same thing happened to me... it seems the phone is not recognizing the power adapter.. ARGGHHHHHH
If anyone as fixed this, please let me know!!
You may want to give this tool a try, see if it does anything.

Hi, did you find a solution to this issue? my nexus S won't turn on.
It's getting warmer when plugged in, but it has no indicator of charging, nor is the power button working :S
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi
I would start a new thread since this is one year old....
But please give more information:
Are u rooted or stock?
If rooted, what recovery, what ROM, what was happening prior to issue.. etc.
The more info the better for readers to help give advice.
Good luck

If you do a battery pull then plug it into the charger then put battery back does the notification led go red?
yes....
that happened to em and from what i read on the forums there's nothing you can do but replace it. Verizon wont know its rooted since it wont even turn on.
^this. verizon cant deny a new phone if they check if its rooted.

This happened to me.. all I had to do was leave the phone on the charger for fifteen minutes and it worked. Same thing happened to some guys with the T-Mobile version and that's how they solved it.

This happened to me. My phone had been rooted and I had pushed some apps to the system, but I had not used any custom roms or kernels at all. After my small modifications my phone worked for a month or so. Out of the blue while using navigation, it died and would no longer turn on. It would boot into recovery or download mode only when on the charger. If I left it on the charger for a long period then it would boot to the homescreen sometimes but then turn off very quickly. I tried all I could through odin to fix it. Since I could boot to the homescreen sometimes, I could see that odin had returned my phone to stock and my flash counter was still at 0. Still would never boot into any mode when off the charger. I had to return to verizon for a refurb as I believe it is a hardware issue imo.

[Q] Bricked Infuse won't stay in download mode

My samsung infuse is bricked. It will boot all the way up to the at&t logo screen, then keep booting the at&t screen. Now, I cannot even get the phone into the download mode; once in a while it will but only stays there for about 5 seconds then shuts off. I cannot get the phone to power up by pressing the power button or even allowing it to charge. Can someone help me to get the download mode to stay on and also to help me unbrick my phone please!
Edit: If I put it in download mode the screen says to download a custom os press up volume or down to cancel/reboot. If I press cancel it does not reboot, it only shuts off even when plugged into my computer; not even a charge. If I were to leave it alone when the message comes up, after 5 seconds or so the phone shuts off anyways. Is this phone finally done?? I am able to get it into download mode now just about every time I try..if that's a good sign or not idk.
Try and get the battery fully charged or use a charged battery if phone is not charging. Will shut off even plugged in if battery too low
