[Q] HTC All in One rooting kit issues - HTC Sensation

Hi i just needed some clarification as I am trying to root my sensation using the All in one Kit. Ive unlocked the boot loader but still have s-on, is this why when i try to flash the recovery using 4EXT it says device not found? or is it because of something else?

i will guide you somehow
connect your device to pc via usb
put the recovery.img in the folder where you have adb and fastboot files
open in that folder a command window and do
adb
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader(it will boot your device into bootloader)
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot
edit:rename the image file as recovery.img if it is not already(maybe that's why you stucked)

http://download.chainfire.eu/314/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.20.zip
it will give you root

sryy man i am soooo noob, what is the procedure for that?

no wait
put the zip as it is in the root of your sdcard
don't extract nothing
you don't need the pc right now
then boot your device again into bootloader
navigate to recovery and select it
after that you will see install zip from sdcard ,choose it
then you will see choose zip from sdcard ,choose it
navigate to the zip and select it
done
edit:i assume you know how to boot into bootloader without the command

when i select recovery my phone just rebooots.what does this mean?

try again flashing the recovery
edit: otherwise install 4ext updater(install it normally like apps)

then from updater choose the latest version of recovery and it will install it for you
best wishes

yah i tried that app but it says to use it i have to be rooted first??? I thought this was a prerequisite to rooting?? Im so confused...

okay so i tried it the original way you told me and i installed the super su zip sucessfully. So i am rooted now? Any ways to confirm it?

[Solved] Help clockwork mod (n00b)

Just followed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
I did the first step without a problem. But I made a mistake. In step one number 8 reads to say NO to install clockwork recovery. But I pressed YES by accident.
Now I'm trying to do Step 2 and it's not working. I copied the PG58IMG file into the Root folder of your SD card. Then disconnected the phone from the computer. I turned off the phone and booted into HBOOT. But "Do you want to start the update" never pops up.
Help please?

Where?
I use ROM Manager Premium, I even flashed its recovery over the old AlphaRevX one without any problems.
I also used rom manager to flash the latest recovery. It woked perfectly fine. Just dont let your battery run all the way down or you will have a hard time getting it to charge again lol.

Cant use 4ext recovery!!!

i followed the following guide to s-off my htc sensation xe:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661631
i did it successfully, so now i wanted before i flash a custom rom, install the 4ext recovery updater. installing the app itself works, but i cant use it. it says i need to use busybox first. ok, downloaded 2 different busybox apps/installers from the market and they fail to run with the message "you need to have your device rooted first".
now im like: ARE YOU ****ING KIDDING ME?!
i would love to install a rooted-rom on my device but first i need obviously entering a mode where i actually CAN install a custom rom, which i can only do by running 4ext recovery.... loop....
please: a quick hint what i need to do next. i wanna finish this this evening. thanks.

did you do the second part of the the guide?
STEPS:
1.get the new root tool from root-sensation-zip
2.extract the zip
3.remove the files adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll , AdbWinUsbApi.dll (if you dont have any adb/fastboot setup dont delete these and skip step 4 )
4.copy the rest of files to the folder that you have extracted from temproot-sensation-windows.zip which you have downloaded during SOFF procedure
(if you have adb/fastboot setup then to adb folder)
5.connect your device normally (from lock screen or home screen) to pc (NOTE: avoid usb hubs and usb 3.0 ports while connecting ..just connect the device directly to pc/laptop)
6.double click on root.bat file ...wait until root is success and once success message "EVERYTHING DONE..ROOT SUCCESS...ONE FINAL REBOOT NOW" pops out without any errors...you are rooted completely

Why don't you flash 4EXT recovery manually from fastboot?
Here step 2 from this guide (only step 2 don't even touch step 3)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
But first make sure that you have juopunutBear at the top when you go to bootloader.. Otherwise if you got locked let me know.

Use the one click root tool present in the soff guide (link in my signature)
To root the phone
(check root using root check basic application.. And if root fails (which I highly doubt it) run the one clock root again)
Edit: did you try to enter 4EXT via app? Nooo you need to go to bootloader and then select recovery from there.. And then you will enter recovery and from there you can flash custom rom
Also there is a way to say thanks in xda

sorry. your one click root tool only works on windows and im using ubuntu.
i have tried everything and afaik there just is no way to get the htc sensation xe with 1.27.0000 hboot s-off to root without either having to install windows (no option for me) .....
i found a file which would give me permanent root, but it only works for android 2.3.6......
and without root i dont need to install a custom rom. i better then stay with the original sense, i like, and wait till maybe the community finds a new method.

Dude you are completely getting it wrong here.. For custom recovery to work and to flash custom rom.. There is no requirement of root at all (heck root is a property of rom...)
When you said flash done.. I assumed it is success.. So you can easily boot to recovery and can flash a custom rom from there...
Also the bat file I had is pretty simple.. You can open it and can manually enter each command.. I could give you a Linux one.. But right now I'm on mobile
But Mark my words.. For flashing/using recovery and custom rom
. There is no f****ing requirement of root
Edit: oi you are saying your hboot Is 1.27.0000
Then you are having locked bootloader Then no way the flash of recovery via fastboot works....
Please confirm me this too.. Whether you got any error when you flashed the recovery.img (like remote not allowed)

Problems Unlocking Bootloader

I just recently rooted my HTC One X and and now attempting to unlock the bootloader using HTC Dev. I've gotten my folder set up with all of the correct files (ADB and such) as well as gotten Android SDK installed. So far I've gotten into my command prompt and navigated to my file called "fastboot" that contains all of my adb files. I'm stuck at the fastboot unlock token stage. Whenever I enter that I get this error-
C:\fastboot>fastboot oem get_identifier_token
'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

I've played around with it and tried different things, but still get this error. I am in bootloader/fastboot mode so that isn't the problem.
One thing I find interesting is that if I do "adb devices" I get
C:\fastboot>adb devices

A couple different threads now I'm 99.9 percent sure you isn't have to flash the boot img. U can post in the q and a section if you really must you'll get a straight answer there
First you do have adb files installed? If you do make sure you install the drivers. Just install HTC Sync and make sure that it's not running in the task bar. Then try again. I'm almost sure that the drivers are missing in this case.

Sorry I'm just incredibly lazy and forget to read sometimes , well since you never took the 2.20 RUU/OTA you just have to run the zip unless the instructions for the rom specificly says to flash the boot.img.

I do all my flashing on windows 7 64bit without any problem.
Ditto. I do all my dirty deeds on 64-bit Windows 7. You may also want a quick way in; Grab OS_Hacking's BIOS tool (don't flash Gingerbread bootloader - just the BIOS and your choice of recovery softwares), and then flash the flashable Superuser zip (ARM version) - just copy Superuser zip onto phone first before flashing unlocked BIOS and recovery so you can do away with that quickly.
And, do one thing first; Kill the UAC in Windows 7 - it usually cause problems.

Follow this guide at section "How to root" (first post) step by step, be sure to write a GB recovery first and not write the GB bootloader (if you did that you can write the ICS bootloader again from OS_Hacking's tool), reboot and then install Su_Bbox_1.20.2_gazhead_signed.zip via recovery, reboot and check for "SuperUser" app.
You can restore the original bootloader and recovery flashing Stock_ICS_btldr-recov.zip at the end but is not mandatory.
Cheers.

[Q] HTC One & Mini not recognized on pc in fastboot

Hi All
Now a proud owner of HTC One mini (uk) but am having issues trying to unlock bootloader, root and install custom rom.
for some reason my PC will not recognize my mini in fastboot mode . i have re installed the usb drivers and even tried to connect my wifes HTC one which i have previously rooted ...but it will not connect to either of the two.
I would be grateful if the community could offer a solution or advice, Thanks
oh forgot to say pc running windows 8.1
Edit: I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979 on the portal. it has ADB,FASTBOOT and DRIVERS needed . Not tried it myself as reverted to windows 7 however, many users confirming that it works on win 8 & 8.1.
I hope this helps, any thanks is given to the developer "Snoop05" as i am just posting the link.
cheers

Search around to see if you can find a updated version? Let me explain to you how I did it. First, I unlocked my bootloader. Second, I downloaded the twrp and magiorom r3. Third hold shift and right click on the flashboot folder that you downloaded from htcdev and click on the open command window here. Rename you twrp to recovery. If your twrp file says img on it then try recovery.img, if not then type recovery. And on the cmd type flashboot flash recovery.img. Then you go back to bootloader and go to recovery and follow all the steps on the magiorom link. Don't forget to thank me. And btw, I didn't have to download any of those adb files. You root your phone when you have twrp. It'll ask you if you want to root. Say yes!!!!
