[Q] Android system recovery <3e> problem - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
I just brought an Galaxy Note N800 from someone, got all the paper and it's totally new.
However I tried to follows guides here on XDA and outside to root and install a custom recovery to install custom roms.
Downloaded all files well, putted into SDcards without any problem.
However, anytime I try to get into recovery mode by Power + vol down.
It always get me to Android system recovery <3e>.
Tried factory reset via backup/reset on setting
Also tried wipe/data factory reset on Android system recovery <3e> when reboot
but still the same issue.
Any clue how to fix it? And I'm happy to being a part of this box now. The Spen is awesome.
Regards

It doesn't need fix Recovery 3E is the standard recovery system. If you want to flash from the SD card then you need to change the recovery to something else such as CWM.
If it was me, I would
1. Install CWM
2. Root it with CF Autoroot
3. Purchase Mobil Odin
4. Purchase Triangle Away
Steve

Suggest root using
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2102677
OR
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831173
Includes CWM recovery .

Press Power + Vol UP = Recovery
Press Power + Vol Down = download mode
Are you carrying out the sequence correctly .
Recovery does not import / work on Odin files .

[Q]Reboot into bootloader without power button

Hi,
The power button of my transformer is broken :
I can't power on the device, but I can light on/off the screen.
In order to fix it, I've got to send it to the customer service, but before I need to flash it back to stock.
To flash it I need to go to bootloader or download mode (I dunno what volume+/power is??)
Here is the thing, I did some searches and I tried :
- via adb
- directly from the terminal emulator
- via some widgets with boot mode selection
None of these work, all these methods make the transformer perform a normal reboot.
I'm rooted, and my rom is one of the first ICS beta Revolver.
I just need to flash it back to stock.
Thx in advance.
Reboot into bootloader without power button
Hi fastreward,
It should be possible to boot into recovery from software; for example, I've seen Megatron Parts (for Megatron ROM) boot into recovery after downloading some Plugin.
ROM Manager has an option to reboot into recovery, have you tried it? I think I used one of the options of ROM Manager to update something in my phone (not the ROm nor in my tablet) because it was part of the process, and I believe it rebooted into recovery.
Hope it helps so you can restore your Transformer to STOCK and send it to service.

Vol up + power button get you into APX mode.
(Good only if you're SBK v1 for NVFLash)
If you have CWM recovery, this will boot you into it.

Thanks ! Maybe there is a command to reboot in APX mode ?

If you have CWM recovery, just download an official firmware from Asus website.
Extract the zip file from within, put it on your sd card (or where ever CWM can see it)
Flash the zip file and once reboot you'll be unroot with stock recovery.
(Wipe data, cache and dalvik cache before flashing)
If you can get the tf to do a normal reboot, just hold down the Volume-Down button as it's doing that, and when the screen pops up it will ask checking-for-rck then press volume up to boot into the recovery image, no power button required. (note you do need it to select in recovery, unless you have touch version)
Alternative hold vol-up while soft rebooting to go into APK (sbkv1 only)

Hi guys , I'm really new to this android system world and I did mistake when changing the android because the old one always shows the kernel failed and it will automatic shut down whenever I switch on the phone . When I change it , I forgot to unlock the bootloader and it also don't have any recovery mode . I didn't clear the kernel or cache because i forgot to install the recovery mode . I just install another android version without clearing the cache . After the installation , it turned like this . Please Help me ! It only can open ODIN launcher. I already try anything but still it cannot started . Boot looping -_- . Is there anything that I can do guys ?
Flash JB firmware again with Odin. ( if you're on JB, otherwise GB)
Can u go to download mode?

That image you posted shows charging of the phone, when you turn on phone - pull out USB cable.
Now what to do, flash stock JB firmware with Odin from Download mode. After it is finished if you get a bootloop - go to recovery and do factory reset. You must have recovery, you do not need to install it - it is 100% there, installed alongside kernel.
If you do not have recovery now I assume you had JB and after that you flashed GB. Or if I am wrong, tell us what did you do exacly. What ROM did you install?
If you can go to download mode just flash stock rom you had before with odin as suggested above, it should work again.
Same thing happened to me the very first time I tried to install mod kernel/rom , and this was how I recovered the phone...
If you can't access download mode, I wouldn't know what to do...
This device dun have a recovery mode . I tried to press Volume UP + Home key + Middle button together but stIll it cannot enter the recovery mode .

I already flashed a stock rom but the result is still same like always . I still cannot access to recovery mode . What should I do now ? I already press the Volume down+ Home key + Shutdown button but it just make the phone to reboot
Can you list clearly all the steps you did from the beginning to get to this point, with details of what android version you had before and which one you tried to flash later?

=)
Volup + home +power = recovery mode
voldown + home + power = download mode
Make sure you are using propper key combination to access what you need

[Completed] Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 (P6800) Help, stuck in recovery mode, cannot enter download md

Hello.
I have recently attempted to update my P6800's firmware from stock Android 4.0.4 to a custom 4.4 version (one of Daniel_hk's firmwares.)
I have wiped data cache and user data, and the firmware, when I attempted to install it, gave me an "E: signature verification error" error. Attempts to reboot or to install a stock 4.0.4 or 3.2 firmwares from the microSD card failed with similar errors.
I was told I can flash the device via Odin, reducing it to 3.2 and then upping the versions properly, but I cannot switch the device on into download mode, because it is stuck in usual recovery mode.
Please help.

The options I get are
Reboot the device
Install stuff from SD card/navigate on SD card
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Apply update from cache.
Which of them is the option you describe? Do I need to put the bootloader on the SD?

Greetings and welcome to assist. You are in stock recovery there so the option to reboot to bootloader is missing. You should be able to power down the tablet then boot into download mode with the power button and volume key
Good Luck

Do I need for it to fully lose charge? It just switches on to recovery if I let it run until the battery is dry, then charge it again. Powering it down treats the power button as enter button, so I cannot actually switch it off (unless I am doing something wrong.)
Thanks for the welcome, I appreciate your help.

the right way
power + home + vol up
By holding the "home button + vol -" keep holding until you see twrp
OR
Depending on the carrier you have sometimes the recovery mode the first time is the hard reset screen.
Before you do this back up your device
if you installing it right, hold the "home button + vol -" when you booting it up once you see it your manufacturer logo, let go of your home button then press it again, keep holding the vol -.
Now, you should now should see the hard reset screen, use the volume key to move and now press yes for everything and then twrp will boot up.
Disclaimer i don't have this device
I have a J500F version, found the solution.
Uncheck Auto Reboot in Odin, then do the "installing", after that unplug your device and just simply remove the battery, then replace it.
If you're done then Volume up + Home + Power button will get you into TWRP.

SM-G955F root attempt failed.

Hello,
I'm trying to root my device.
I've installed the Samsung usb drivers.
The problem is that Odin gets stuck on "recovery.img" while trying to install twrp.
I even tried Heimdall but nothing works..
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Hello my friend. I had the same problem before. What you have to do in order to install TWRP is to press vol up + Bixby + power BEFORE to click on START and hold the buttons until Samsung screen shows up.
Then, you can flash and get root via recovery.
