[Q] Apps 2 sd and directory bind question - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK here is my dilemma I have tried every method for transferring apps to SD and none of them work. I have tried partitioning SD w/Odin and cwm'I have tried directory bind but when I get to the point to select file I can't find it in directory bind - I have tried the titanium backup method in there help section, tried the ROM manager, tried link to SD and apps of that such,I tried flashing a mod that was sup post to trick my tab into thinking my extsd was my intsd e folder manager and script manager,I have been sorting thru hundreds of forums for about 2 weeks now with no success even following directions to a t or I get to a point they r and its different on mine than theirs. I have even tried 3 different ROMs. I'm kind of a noob at this so I must be doing something wrong. I don't know where else to turn for insufficient storage space andapps to SD fix lucky patch works but only for a short time. I have a galaxy tab 2 7.0 3113 w/32gb micro SD and am running chili mango ROM. Please help thank you in advance.

If you take a look at the structure, all you should have to do is unmount the regular sdcard directory and swp it with the exsdcard if i remember correctly. It will work until its restarted, i n which case you need the autorun program to automate the swapping on startup. This will essentially make your sd card the primary storage and the internal storage as secondary.
I hope that helps or gets you some direction.

I figure this is a good place to ask, I'm not sure if I should even bother opening a new thread. Has any one figured out how to swap the storage on 4.2.x? I ccan't figure out how to do it. The closest I was able to get was using a ext. Sdared partition and the link2sd app, but that method only produced limited results, compared to a full swap.

Apps to SD (Can We???)

Hi all XDA Folk...
I am wondering if there is a easy way to use the sd card as storage, I know you cant use the old app2sd applications you get from the market and you can use directory bind to do something similar.....but is there an easy way or better way to do it?
I found this post and wondering if this would work on the tab 7.7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668247
Please could someone shed some light on this, thank you
I used directory bind once and it was not clear, moved the files and all and got a message when opening games....(Download data) so the data had not moved correctly or I could be doing something wrong.
Thanks Again!
and what purpose would it serve? This isn't like the HTC hero/magic (or some pre 1ghz) devices anymore
I want to know also if there is a method to move apps to sd, my 16gb p6800 soon to running out of internal space.

Sad to say you cant... If you go to settings>applications>manage application>click on one of the apps you want to move on the sd card ull notice only 3 options... Force stop, uninstall, clear data... No option for Move to phone/sd card. Why? As far as I know for a certain apps to function you need to keep it stored in the tabs internal memory and not on the sd card just to save space... Try installing games thats requiring you to download additional sd data like nova 3 after downloading the game data try to move it on the sd card and launch the app again and itll ask you to download the sd data again..
Hope this help..
P.s. Correct me if im mistaken..
Apparently app2sd doesn't work on our tablet, I am using link2sd instead.

Samsung galaxy Note 10.1 n8000 Howto extend 16gb internal memory with external micros

Hello guys. I am strugleling for about 3 days to extend internal memory with microsdcard.
I have tried several possible solutions to make it work but still no results so I decided to ask for help from you guys here at xda.
I am very new in this Samsung Galaxy note 10.1 moding sector. I have some experience with hd2 moding but samsung way is different than Htc.
Current conf of my tablet is :
N8000 stock darkman deodexed 4.1.2 rooted and init.d enabled with universal init.d
16gb internal and 16gb microsd
So here is what I have tried since:
Link2sd didnt work for me. I have formated sdcard with ext4 filesystem but when I triet to configure link2sd it gave me an error that script wasnt created or my tablet dont support ext4 filesystem.
Then I have tried Super app2sd script from TweakerL . Script created folder on sdcard with scripts but even after reboot nothing changed. Apps are still installed on internal. Script didnt even mounted mount point.
Can somebody point me to right direction?

Here's how they did it in the N2 forum. Do a search over there. There might be other ways too.

We have in developement, stickied, a mod that allows you to, if you have a larger sd card, swap external memory to internal. Change a 16gb to a 64with a simple script.... You do need root though...
Actualy i only have 16gb class 10 microsd and swaping internal memory to external wont do big difference. Better solution would be to configure system like if internal run out of space then apps will be instaled to external microsd. Or just bind appdata to external sd. The bigest files are gamedata especially from gameloft and so on. I was trying to do it with bind directory app but it just refuses to bind gamedata. Can it be because of OS not allowing to write on external? Possibly because of init.d ?

Ok so far I was finally able to use dirictory bind app properly. My internal memory is now freed from big game datas. Finally. But now I will need to move apps to sd. So far 10 gigs for apps is enought for now but I will see later. But at least big datas are now in microsd. It is sad that samsung didnt put ability in ther rom to move apps on sd. I have tried cyanogen mod nighty 4.2.1 which is very good i like concept of multi user but I am missing features from stock firmware that are not available in cmod. I hope that samsung will release update to 4.2.1 and multiuser feature will be the part of stock firmware and I hope that it will contain move app to sd feature aswell.

[Q] move/run/install apps on sd galaxy tab 2 7.0

I am really new at this. I have a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 with 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) on it. I have successfully rooted it but am having issues with trying to run/install/move apps to sd card. I have tried many apps and they all seem to do one of two things. Either they just bring me back to the settings for the OS and applications where there is no move button or they "move" it right back onto the internal sd. I tried partitioning my sd card into 2 partitions (24 and 8) the 24 being Fat32 and the 8 being ext2 and using link2sd app. That gives me an error saying it cant run script and to try using fat32 for second partition. That also gives me an error which doesn't give any suggestions. I am really frustrated. I bought a 8 gig Galaxy tab 2 cause I was told at the store you could put apps on the sd which is obviously wrong. After the OS files and bloatware my 8 gigs is down to like 4.something... when some apps (like sims free play and asphalt7 are over a gig each that does not leave much room for apps. What is the best way to accomplish this?

The usable space for data is 4.59 I think ext 2 isn't really compatible with most kernels nowadays. Format the second part as ext 4. I did 4 gigs and that's good enough for two roms using kk's next dual boot. But I don't play many games on my tab 2 either.

I recently updated my Tab 2 7 to 4.2.2 stock
Under Settings> Application Manager
Tap on the application you wish to move.
Provided it is not a system app, you will see in the "Storage" info box a button labelled "Move to SD card".
It works for me
Install link2sd from goggle store

Im facing the same issue, but at the first time I was able to install link2sd and link all my games to the ext4 part in my memory card, but after a reboot (I was moving some updates to system rom via Titanium Backup) I noticed my games were not there, so I tried to reinstall the mounts scripts but the error message says: mount script cannot be created.
Can someone help to solve this issue?
I already have tried some tricks I found here in the forums without luck
Thanks

[Q] "There is insufficient space on external storage" error message

Hello everyone. I recently underwent a forced upgrade to an LG Optimus F3 after my Kyocera Rise almost started a house fire. I am trying to get all my apps on the thing and everything has gone smoothly. However when I tried to install FIFA 14, which is a large app, I receive an error message.
i imgur com/xhlUueG.png
This is baffling, since I have over 25 GB of space remaining on the card.
i imgur com/QVHmmF9.png
Any advice on how to resolve this problem would be appreciated.
Things that may be ****ing stuff up:
-I literally took the SD card straight from the other phone and put it in this one.
-I have been installing a lot of stuff today.
-I don't really know what else.
Do you have Lucky Patcher installed on you're phone..?
If you do, stop it from running and wipe LP cache... And try again...

No, I do not. Would you recommend I install it?
I thought the problem might be coming from the fact that the SD card was used in another phone. So I used the Erase all Data option in Settings > Storage, but the problem persists.
Can anyone help, or do you need more info?
Maybe I need to format the card another way?
And pardon the double post, but here's another screenshot, this time of ES File Explorer.

Is it normal for there to be two directories there?

I could really use some help figuring this out. I used Aparted to delete the partition and create a new one but still no change. Is there anywhere else or some other subforum where I should be posting this, or is there a way for me to figure this out on my own?
Does your phone detects your SD card or are you able to move apps to SD card???

Well, it shows my SD cards under Settings > Storage, but I'm not seeing an option to move apps to SD on the app menus.
I also hard reset my device, but apparently the problem still persists. When I get home imma try the other SD card and see if there's a change.
No change with the other SD card, so it must be a phone error. Any ideas?

Is your phone currently rooted??? And Aparted is an awesome software. your not using the android app to partition the sd when a pc should be used to partition the sd with a micro reader???

Yes, I just rooted my phone. However, the problem persists, and I still don't have the option to move apps to SD card. I'm not sure what you're getting at in the second sentence though, sorry.
Okay what I mean by the second sentence is that Aparted is available for pc and as apk for android, which one did you use??? And when you partitioned the sd card what format did you use NTFS, FAT32, FAT16 etc.... and also did you wipe the sd prior to formatting it???

I used the android one, a fat32 format, and yes.
Okay, basically what I think is going on is that my phone just doesn't support apps on SD card. Something about the way my filesystem emulates an SD card or something, so it's not a capability I can just unlock from the phone. Anyway, I've been able to sort of work around the problem by using link2SD with an aparted partition, which looks like it's working perfectly, as far as it goes. If anyone else runs into a problem like this and finds a better solution please let me know!
Thanks for all the suggestions.
Awesome, and link2sd is one of best app2sd apks available....cheers man

Sd card, for ram, and regular storage?

I've been starting to look into adding ram to one of my devices by using an sd card. But, can you still use the rest of the sd card as regular storage at the same time? I keep all of my photos on my external, and ringtones, notifications, many things.
I'd love to figure out dedicating part of an sd card as ram, while still using the rest of it as regular storage
I looked around a bit, and I've seen YouTube tutorials about using sd as memory... But none mentioned using as regular storage at the same time.
Anyone more experienced who could share further info would be awesome or if there's some place better I should be reading, feel free to share that link with me too

Still need help with this... As far as my research shows, you can only see your sd card within your phone and can't use an sd card reader with your sd card as windows won't see it.
Is there some way to allow windows to see it as well as having it partitioned for ram??
I'd really really appreciate the help on this!!
If the first partition is fat32/exfat, both android & windows will recognize it. The 2nd partition can be the swap.

Thanks for the reply
I did try that idea, but to put it into the phone, at least the rohesoft test program only saw the partition meant for storage. In this case I used a 16 gig (which is actually about 14 gig), I decided to set aside 2 gig for the swap, but that test program only saw the regular storage partition of about 12 gigs. How would I set it so that the ram program will see the second 2 gig partition as well? I tried them both as fat32, is that a bad plan?
I have a new observation... My phone, running 4.0.4 does not see any swap files. My tablet running 5.1.1 does see swap files, using the exact same sd card. First as fat 32 and tried 2nd as ext4. Is there another option that will work for ice cream sandwich??
I haven't tried it yet but would ICS see ext3 or ext2 better?
Officially can't get my phone to see the other partition at all!! I can get swapper to create a swap file on the *same* partition as I want to use for media only!! I thought the whole point was that only part of your card was dedicated to ram use?
To go into recovery and go into mounts and storage, it shows unmount sdcard, which means it is already currently mounted. That was why I thought maybe my tablet could see a swap partition but my phone could not. That theory is garbage now as they're both mounted. I can't even manually create a swap file on the 2nd partition in my pc cuz the computer won't see it except for in the mini tool !
I'm getting so frustrated. I'm so afraid to do so unpartitioned and run the risk of files like irreplaceable pictures deleting themselves in favor of ram space.
Is this just plain not possible??? Help....
I can't even see the ext3 in es file explorer, or even as a choice to have the roesoft tool manually create/test a swap file there
I'm running out of ideas that I have any clue at all of what to do. Could *really* use the help....
