GPS/maps - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

Is there fix for GPS/google maps to show you facing the right direction? When in compass/normal mode I turn to the left and it shows me going right, I'm facing one way its facing the other and vice versa..it's really irritating.. and it places me a block from where I actually am so I can't really get directions with Google maps..

+1 i have this problem
Enviado desde mi SAMSUNG-SGH-T769 usando Tapatalk 2

Just tried the compass appfrom play store, its almost 90 degrees off....odd....maybe this could be why? (http://www.foxnews.com/science/2013/01/14/perfect-solar-storm-sun-activity-to-peak-in-2013/) I seen something like this on the news a couple weeks back....
Edit after a little more research , where in a geomagnetic storm as of now (http://www.n3kl.org/sun/noaa.html)

I haven't been on a stock ROM since a week after i got this phone lol so I wouldn't know the behavior comparison. If someone could shed some light on this issue because just like you guys I'm having the same problem.

Yea I'm having the same issue. On google maps our phones are as much as 90 degrees off at some points and as little as 10 or so minimum off. Using "compass" from the google market they show about 20 degrees off when stacked on top of each other. One is running stock ICS and the other is running CM10 12/8 nightly with Blue Lightning kernel.

Nothing special just the first one I seen in the market. Seems to be pretty close to google maps when standing still for me on stock and CM10 so I used it as a reference.

Seriously... -_-
My phone is sitting on my desk..facing 90 degrees clockwise..and the locator keeps moving in the street or across the street..facing to 90 degrees to the left..makes no sense..

I use Waze for GPS its actually really on point, but i wanted to give a more accurate reading with the "compass" app on 4g and GPS and where the sun sets it says estimate around 340° to 350° North?

Has anyone tried the a-gps fix in the dev section? I remember it decreased my lock on time down to like 2-4 seconds but I dont know if it actually will fix direction or anything. I'll try and flash again when my other phone gets home.

I have seen it in the dev section just never tried it, I would now but I don't have enough time, when you get around to it message us the results I'm interested to see if it'll make it a little more accurate or not.

Sure thing, I remember the lock on time was insane with it. I hate using the stock ROM but I need wifi calling at work I never thought I would be using stock while my gf is rolling CM thats for sure.

Off by 90 degrees
Running Blaz3r 4. compass off in all apps including GMaps. I suspect its a kernel issue, any insights?

Can someone link to the thread? Did a search but it didnt show up. With liquidsmooth I always have to restart my phone to get it to lock on to GPS.

[Q] How to calibrate accelerometer?

Hello, my accelerometer seems to be off, tilting to the left by about 10 degrees. That is really annoying. I have tried some calibration apps but nothing worked.
Has anybody had any success in recalibrating the accelerometer?
Do you know any app/script to something that i can adjust the damn phone to its correct level?
Help would be appreciated
You can calibrate in the settings

thanks, but this only calibrates my gyroscope on a flat surface. I am having problems on the Horizontal axis holding the phone up
P.S I think that the calibration does not work on the leaked ICS

[Q] help with my battery performance?

Can anyone look at these screenshots and advise me on how I can get better performance from my battery? I just flashed SkyICS (latest version) hoping to get better performance from my battery, but it doesn't seem to help. This is with what I would consider medium to heavy usage. I used my phone most of the day to browse the web and check facebook.
Any ideas?
Yeah a bigger battery and some fairy dust
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
That's with an extended battery....
Bro heavy users like you and me can only get by by keeping a charger on hand undervolting underclocking
Edit: but 4.0 rom's don't have custom kernels yet
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Looks like the screen has been on for at least 4 hours. All you can really do is underclock it and freeze all the stuff you don't use.
Guess I will research how to underclock.... any good starting points?

I prefer no frills cpu. It will report the wrong settings when the toast pops up, but if you check cpu spy you will see it's working
Here's a couple basic and obvious tips and you might already know this, but no one has mentioned it yet in this thread so...
Turn wifi off when there are no wifi networks to join, but I've heard not to let it sleep when you are wifi connected.
Leave bluetooth and gps off when not using it. I don't let allow any of google's location services to run in the background myself. Not sure how well that helps the battery though.
Some people say leaving off autobrightness turned off will help battery life and some say leaving it turned on is better for battery performance. I'm not sure who is right but you might try it both ways and see if one is better for you.
I've tried most of those things and they don't seem to help.
I'm in an area with lte but coverage is spotty at work. Could that be what is mainly killing the battery?

There is no normal, everyone has different setups, different apps, and different lifestyles. If you're saying the screen has been on for 41 minutes, that seems ok.
Thanks for the help everyone. I guess I'll just keep chargers handy

GPS doesn't play nice

First post in this forum, coming from both HTC Desire HD and Motorola Defy forums.
Just got a Atrix 2 from the market place and I like it. I was having issues with reception on my HTC phones in my basement. Someone suggested I try a Motorola because of they get great reception. I bought a Defy and sure enough 15 -20 dbMs better in my basement.
I just couldn't get use to the smaller screen on the defy so I picked up this phone to try it out.
My issue is that the GPS works, no issues with maps, nav or GPS status and tools. However, faster fix and my golfing app won't work? Faster fix just sits there with a white screen and my golfing GPS app tells me that my settings for the GPS are wrong?
Anyone else with these issues? I have my phone rooted but haven't flashed any new roms yet.
Thanks in advance.
Wow, over 200 views and no response! Am I the only one with this issue?
Would be nice to know if flashing a different rom solved this issue as I'm still on the original. I thought I would wait a couple of weeks before I started flashing again as it's been a nice break, lol.
I am having the exact same issues but with my jogging apps. None of them can get a location for me.

it is somewhat faster than the other ICS builds. What has to be done to get it up to full Linaro speed? Is that waiting on a real ICS kernel?

OK. First full day of battery life, starting at 100%, not yet soaked in. I have gotten 14 hrs of heavy use and 2hrs+ screen on time and still have 15% remaining. This is about 1-2 more hours than i was getting on a couple of other ICS ROMs. I will come back in with an edit if i stick with this ROM long enough to let it soak.

I tried doing that and then rebooting too. No luck :/
I still prefer codename. It seems to run fast even though it benchmarks as slower than the other ics roms.
I also tried the second testing build, and the GPS doesn't work there either. :/
