THIS ONE is newer, faster and better on battery. Also includes rooting tools (to be flashed from recovery).
One malybru quoted is also good, but is GB, one i linked is ICS.
P.S. I'm using it at the moment and am very happy with it (rooted)

Hi,
All I know is that it is very close to stock.
I have never tried it myself.
It will not hurt to try it for yourself.
You can of course flash an RUU of your region and carrier.
This will return your entire phone(including recovery) back to stock.
It will leave you s-0ff.

No, if you still want s-off and root you are better off flashing one of the stock roms.
With ruu you will lose root, custom recovery and other goodies.
BTW, if you have a look under our avatars you will see why we cannot be on T-Mobile US.

RUU stands for ROM Update Utility. It is a utility you run on your computer to flash your device via USB.

I never rooted or flashed or anything to my one s, yesterday I got the official jellybean update and so far I hate it
sure they made some things good, contact pictures aren't low quality any more but the downside out weighs the good stuff, I can't play any games cause it lags, the 3d effect on my home screens is gone
all in all I want to downgrade back to ics, the official htc ice, not custom ones. I'm willing to root or w/e it is asking is my phone is how it was yesterday before the update
please help, oh and I have the s4 processor
Edit: even after turning everything off I'm using up 800mb ram out of the 1gb
AW: Downgrade from 4.1.1 to 4.0.4
RAM management on Linux/Android is different as the windows one.
Full doesnt automatically means bad, but yes the usage is higher then on ICS.
Only way to revert to official ICS is downgrade your HBoot or getting S-OFF and installing the ICS Ruu.

if s-off, hboot and ruu are unknown for you the procedure could be very risky for you..
maybe think about flashing a custom rom which is based on 4.0.4, like zenRom or Trickdroid 7, its much easier than downgrading etc.

this is normally the ruu, doubleklick, and it makes everything on its own.
but the jb-ota updated the hboot, so the ics ruu isnt compatible anymore.
to let the ics ruu run again you have to downgrade your hboot.

Fyi you will lose warranty if you attempt any of the above steps I.e root, s off etc. I think you should give custom roms a go if you are going to unlock bootloader and root. Trickdroid is pretty much stock but better and viper is amazing. Using hasoons all in one tool is probably the easiest way to unlock phone (stickied in dev section).

Manual Upgrade
Hi Guys,
I'm using an unlocked T-Mobile .... Its not rooted yet .....
But the software upgrade won't work .... The update gets downloaded (as I can see the update file in my file explorer) but it won't install ....
The phone merely restarts ....
I have 4.0.3, and want to upgrade to 4.0.4 .... fed up with the multi-tasking issues.
Is there any way to install the upgrade file manually, or do I need to install a 4.0.4 based custom ROM?

I rooted my phone with advanced ace hack kit. I think its now rooted and s-off.
Its not important to be rooted. How can I return easly to stock ? flashing stock rom or not ?
edit: because I will give my telephone to my friend to use. the stock rom is the best. It hasnt any bugs. SO I want to return stock rom.
You can just flash a stock ROM, keeping root and S-Off. It will be stable bit your friend could also have root sometime in the future if he ever wants it. I say this because AAHK was retired, so if you go entirely back to stock you may never get S-Off again.

if you are S-ON you have to use a ruu with the same firmware as yours or higher one
otherwise flash another rom from recovery
by the way what problem did you meet when you used the ruu?

is this a full stock rom or do you need the ICS 2.35 RUU first before running this if you want to go back to stock? The DL is about 700 MB so I surely hope it's the whole thing otherwise, that's a bit bloated for an update...lol

I haven't heard of anything about that but I haven't really read much about it either. For me S-off isn't a big deal. it makes things more convenient but isn't necessary. Really only affects updating radios and blackbox partitions. As long as I got access to recovery and system, I'm fine.
