It probably could be done with a skin(ones that install to data app folder work on stock). I will try and play around with it in a couple days when I'm not so busy for you if no one has helped you out or has any other ideas.

[MOD][FINAL] UPDATED! Remove Status Bar Icons (Loc/Battery/Clock/Alarm)

You can remove a few icons from your status bar using the files below.
If you apply another theme with a services.jar modification, this will either overwrite or be overwritten by that modification. The services.jar for that theme must be modified manually.
UPDATED!
The modifications are now built using the latest HTC 2.2 build.
Build v3.21.605.1 (final).
hideLoc.zip - hides only the Location reticle (crosshair).
hideLocClock.zip - hides location and the clock.
hideLocBatt.zip - hides location, and battery icon.
hideLocBattClock.zip - hides location, battery icon and the clock.
hideLocAlarm.zip - hides only the Location reticle (crosshair) and alarm.
hideLocAlarmClock.zip - hides location, alarm and the clock.
hideLocAlarmBatt.zip - hides location, alarm and battery icon.
hideLocAlarmBattClock.zip - hides location, alarm, battery icon and the clock.
hide-default.zip - hides nothing. Use this to revert back to normal.
This is a simple update.zip to hide the icons from your status bar. It does not disable E911 location services. Also, this is not a theme and does not simply replace the icons with transparent images. The icon resource is just hidden from view (using the .setVisibility() method).
REQUIREMENTS:
Requires deodexed ROM
Requires the HTC frameworks
Requires 2.2 Froyo
As always, you assume all risk applying any update to your phone. I'm not responsible for any damage direct or indirect caused to your phone or your social life, into perpetuity, forever and ever.
Instructions:
1. Nandroid backup
2. Apply in ROM Manager or Clockwork Recovery.
3. Reboot and wait for boot. This may take a few minutes while your system runs dextop.
To modify the Status Bar manually, please see this reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780324
thank you, hated how this icon took up space.
after applying it, it took a few minutes for my phone to start up all the way, gotta be patient
applied it on pmf 2.0
does this simply remove the icon and leave a blank space, or is the space actually usable by other icons now?

This is not blank space or transparent icon. The icon is actually removed from the bar.

awesome! i tried it on 2.1, but all i was able to do was delete the icon from the framework which left a blank space. i will definitely be applying this patch. thanks!
Great Job!!!
I love this. Do you think you could post a mod to remove the clock from the status bar?
Thanks for the share.
Weird.. Wifi errors out after the long ass reboot it just took after installing the zip. Hmm.. Guess Nandroid it is for me. ;/

[MOD] MAKE YOUR OWN THEME!! Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen

let me start of by saying I TAKE NO CREDIT for any of this... only think i did was discover this amazing thread.. (i've know about it for a quite a while now, but don't know why i hadn't decided on posting this here)
im only posting this thread here because not a lot of people in the cdma hero community know about this... and yes this should work with YOUR ROM, whatever that is you have.. seems to be pretty universal now...
here is the link to the main thread, with all credits going to the guys in the desire forum:

I tried it, but all my gapps were continuously FCing so I had to nandroid back. I might try it again without notification settings (I only did part of those, so maybe that screwed it up).

are u installing this over a current theme?? are u adding any transparencies in the notification bar? what rom are u using? i've had the gapps FC before with this, but got everything worked out to where everything works perfect now..
I'm guessing CM 6 comes with a theme.. so I'm gonna say yes. I didn't make anything transparent, but I only did settings for part of the notification window.
What sucks now is that I nandroided back to a backup I made earlier today and it made everything like I just flashed CM 6 but LauncherPro kept FCing.. trying to nandroid again. :\
Edit: Can I choose sense icons without having a sense rom? If not, that's probably my problem.

sense icons are fine... i've used them before..
try this, flash cm6 again (do not wipe) just flash the same one ur using again.. then flash ur theme u made.. (do not flash gapps again).. then reboot
If I remember that kitchen gave me issues a whole back with the rs folders... open your apk and look in the res folder check to see if v4 was appended to any of the drawable folders, if so delete the v4 part in the name and resign it.

Confirmed working on CM6RC1... Although not much in the way of theaming very limited but cool non the same. Very easy to use even for the beginner. What it changes should be pretty universal as long as you pay attention and choose the correct android version.

I don't even know how to open an apk..
Used this to get the circle battery with CM 6.1 RC1, my only issue is that now it displays a big "Roaming Indicator On" on my lockscreen (where the "Sprint" would usually be), and the roaming triangle is showing up in the taskbar (even though I'm like 98% sure I'm NOT roaming). Anyone have a suggestion of how to get rid of this? Maybe something I did in the process of cooking up the zip? All I want is the stock CM6 pulldown/notification bar with the circle battery, and also have the option to turn off the power control widget in the pulldown.

The issue comes from, I believe the ROM loaded on the site is actually from a GSM, so yeah, uploading the one right from your ROM works wonders.

I did it again and this time I checked the "include icons" and chose G4 blue sense 3D. Again they didnt show up This time what happened was my icons that were blue tinted (running Extremely Blue) turned white. Same stock icons, just white instead of the blue tinted ones. Can I use the sense icons?
Thanks
If it makes a difference I also selected the white notification bar icons as well, H1 DeFrost.
That was it, only chose the G4 blue sense 3D this time and it worked perfect! Now I need to do it again as there are a few I dont care for and would rather have my blue tinted ones, like signal bars
Now I got it looking BAD-A$$!!
Question,
When attempting to modify the Status bar notification I dont get to see the progress I am making. It looks like the Kitchen is supposed to let me see what each mod will look like as I change things, shouldnt that checkered area to the right of status bar mod settings show a preview of what I a doing, while I do it?
EDIT>>>>> Nevermind, I found to click generate at the bottom of page
Thanks
Alright so I redid my phone last night (starting from scratch when I know a little more about this stuff is good ) and tried this again, got the circle battery mod and the status bar icons and it works great!
If it helps anyone, I uploaded my framework this time instead of choosing from the list.

Blue Themed Status Bar, Battery Mod, & Pulldown Notification Window

UPDATES
version 2
I just wanted to share with you all my custom status bar, honeycomb style battery mod and drop down window for all GINGERBREAD & FROYO GSM roms with CWR except cm7 (I will make one if interest arrives)
CDMA users: SOMEONE SEND ME A STOCK FRAMEWORK.APK
I took the gingerbread overcome gold theme and icons and changed some things.
Thanks to the overcome gold guys.
Thanks to mendozinas for making most of this possible.
Here is what I changed.
*BatteryMod - changed it to a colorful blue hybrid Honeycomb style icon, that shows percentage, and changes progressively from red (low batt) to yellow, light blue then a darker blue. Appears on your lockscreen also.
*Window Animation - TAKEN OUT, BACK TO STOCK AMINAMTIONS upon request.
*Changed overscroll glow colors to custom light blue, dropped transparency of windows
* Status bar icons are now blue
*Status bar - changed background
*Status bar time is now blue. so are written notifications. New blue status bar system radio icons
*Dropped transparency of carrier label
*Customized the Drop down window. window is 0%, also altered style and color of Notification bar, header is transparent now. Made Background transparent around 4 service icons its now blue on black with white text for ongoing items, instead if black on black, dropped transparency
* made the colors more uniform
*A few more things.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL GSM USERS

Everything looks GREAT! No offense to AB86 or the Overcome team, but the notification bar on RC1 was not functional. This looks great, and I love the animations! The new clock font for the lockscreen is pretty cool too.
All in all, 9 stars out of 10
Also... since you obviously know the answer to life , the universe and everything("42"), I wont mention what I think would make it a 10/10

Rule #1 of flashing ANYTHING. Nandroid first, flash second.
You need to reflash your stock ROM most likely... Unless you can piece together what changes where made and rewrite your framework.... Yeah, that'd be fun :/ Or if you have a Nandroid, use it... But if it's not recent, you'll loose any changes since the backup.
Fantastic work mate. Genuinely different from most I have come across and fun too!! The fonts very cool I think, not sure about its longevity but for now I'm enjoying it.

Good work man. Just a tip and a request. First add an extra step of fixing permissions after flashing this in tabs that has other modded themes otherwise it will flash but wont be applied on boot.
As for the request (you did say you were open for change). Can we have the notification area clear instead of white grid (hehe reminds me of primary school math notebooks).

[Q] Possible to make status bar black?

I know the triumph is the new kid on the block and doesn't have a lot of dev or theme work for it yet,but was just wondering if anyone has accomplished making the status bar and pull down black with white lettering? if so... how?
thx
I've tried a couple metamorph themes, as well as an apk I found named GingerBar, all to no avail. Hopefully with CM7 just around the bend we will see black notification bars on our triumphs
I've been trying the same thing. I've tried flashing several metamorph themes and such, even .zip to be installed from recovery. Nothing actually worked. A few metamorph themes just installed indefinitely without finishing. I did a restore from my backup just to make sure there's no damage. I made this thread on HowardForums and someone suggest UOkitchen or whatever it's called lol, but that's seems crazy time consuming. Also, someone posted a screenshot here on XDA in the show your homescreen thread with a modified status bar, might be worth sending him a message asking how, maybe he or she would be willing to help

Yea just go to Droid pirate and use metamorph... who really needs a clock on the status bar anyways? U can theme all the notifications and status bar icons and turn the bar black.
MOTWX435KT
I'm still working on the "white text" half of the conundrum, but in the mean time something like Fancy Widgets should be good enough.
Although a black-bar-white-text theme is something that's a personal goal.
Metamorph makes it easy, but it has a lot more bugs than flashing a theme.

[Q] Hide System Bar on ICS?

Is there a way to hide the system bar?
maybe something like THIS?
+1
Love this idea
Try the link below for the apk........... i havent tried it on ics yet
was just going to post up as an attachment but its not frickin working on the ics browser
http://ppareit.github.com/HideBar/
it is not working for me
me either - sorry guys
From what I understand, Google pretty much locked it out completely, so it's impossible at the moment to hide the status bar. It's really annoying. :/
From the author of Honeybar: "*** Important note for ICS users: Honeybar is unsupported on ICS and will not hide the UI bar. I have examined the source for ActivityManagerService and it currently appears impossible to stop com.android.systemui"

Damn that sucks. I hope Google changes their mind or someone finds a way around this problem. I find it extremely irritating to use video and reading apps with the system bar at the bottom.
I guess I will stick with Android 3.2 for now.
There's a tweak for the Galaxy Nexus that remove the bottom bar entirely, and the person who posted it says to use ButtonSavior (on the market) to replace the soft keys. The newest AOKP rom also includes a feature to remove the navigation bar which I assume is pretty much the same as the bar on tablets.
The mod is over on RootzWiki, not sure if I can post links to it, or if it will work for the TF or could be adapted for it.
See, it's things like this that make me wonder. Why in the world would google, or anyone, lock things down so much that nobody can change anything? Disabling the status bar in honeycomb didn't do any harm. I never heard a single complaint of a bricked tablet or software problem because of disabling the status bar.
Yes!!!

Where? Searched for "status" "system" "bar" "hide" in varying combinations as well as individually. Could you point me in the right direction. TIA.
From looking around the framework-res etc what i have seen that ICS is based on a theme called holo. Now if we could modify the framework-res and strip the black and make it transparent it should be able to be done. Decompiling it has been no problem however I am too new at themeing to provide any definite answers to recompile framework-res as i have tried but it just will not register as a proper apk. There is one issue with that however, the holo theme is involved with almost everything to do with the system. Example backgrounds for the menu system and the onscreen keyboard and a pile of other stuff plus the assorted icons would still be present back button home apps button clock and wifi.
All the edits were because my cursor diappeared.

It's part of the ROM. They don't appear to have a separate app to hide the system bar, so we have to use the full rom for now. It works the same way pre-ICS Revolver did.
