Nope did not loose my custom recovery. Its very clean and appears to be stable.
P.S. I flashed all 3 with TWRP in order
1) ROM
2) GAPPS
3) SU
After a full wipe of course...
My Nexus 7 isn't here yet, but this is incredible. I'm coming from a Droid Charge and HTC Rezound-- I won't even know what to do, its almost confusing to have choice.
You beat me to the punch I just compiled 4.1.1 r3 late yesterday. Thank you from a fellow purist.

Great job man,downloading now .
I'm confused, how is this any different from the official 4.1.1 OTA update? What does Google add or change from source other than the Google Apps?

AOSP roms if they are the latest build include the newest fixes and updates straight from Google. Also true AOSP roms do not include gapps. Gapps are not open source like Android. That's why they are flashed separately

That's weird. I thought nexus 7 was supposed to be stock AOSP Jellybean.
Lucky people with the device. I'm still waiting on mine to ship. 16gb version.
how is this rom running? really smooth and fast? im planning to flash this tomorrow..sounds very appealing to me. pure aosp should mean fast.
Running great for me.
great rom...really smooth and fast.
is it possible to lower the nav bar like how it is in jr5? i think it looks better that way lol.

This is a pure AOSP Rom, and I'm gonna keep it as such unfortunately. However if you wanna rip this Rom apart and edit the nav bar to whatever specs you desire go right ahead, that's why I uploaded this so we can have a stock base Rom to do with as we please.
So given that this aosp does the op know what main differences are between it and the jb that comes with the n7?

Well, I didn't try to download the rom, since I can build this just fine at home (and do).
But I did try and grab your gapps, since I was having a hard time finding a gapps package that mirrored my original factory gapps.
But I figured I would let you know your dropbox has been suspended for large activity. Maybe you know, but since it isn't in the OP...
Edit: And if you are selecting option 4 in lunch (userdebug) then root access is included. Are you building 'user'?
Edit2: Looked at the fixed link. eng has root too. So they're gonna be rooted, whether the flash the su or not. Although most builds just go for the userdebug. eng just adds more logging services, FAIK.
Hi guys,
I saw that in the cm9/10 roms the fonts are more little and thinner then in the stock rom.
can I change the fonts like in the stock rom?
Yes you can, but you need root access to do it manually, but I don't know if there is an app to do it without root.
Do some search and you'll find some answers, I'm a little bit lazy now to do it for you

This is a bit of a merge-post from two other forum posts I made (here and here) before I realized that there was a forum specifically for the G900P Galaxy S5.
To sum things up, I'm just kind of curious as to why it seems like there is next to zero custom ROMs that explicitly support the Sprint G900P version of the S5. The only one that I have found (which I am currently using) is the R.D.D.T ROM, as well as the other two similar builds of the same thing. This brings up my main question.
From what I've gathered, deodexed ROMs were originally used to be able to edit things such as status bar colors (clock, notification icons, etc) and even the icons themselves. They boot 'slower' but after the initial boot it is not that recognizable as newer hardware more than compensates for this issue.
So I have flashed a deodexed ROM onto my phone (R.D.D.T.). Now, this ROM also has an odexed version as well. I assumed that having the deodexed version would allow me to edit icons, colors, etc. However, I'm not quite sure how I can do it.
I have seen and read about people installing custom, deodexed ROMs onto their phones, and many of them (Alliance, X-Note) will come with either an app pre-installed on the ROM, or a ROM-specific menu in Settings. This menu lets them customize things in the way I would like to be able to. The problem is that, at this time, the G900P (Sprint) version of the Galaxy S5 is not supported by either of those ROMs, or many other popular ROMs for that matter. R.D.D.T. (and R.O.D.T as well as the Mystery Build) was one of the only ROMs I could find that explicitly supports the G900P. I like the concept of this ROM, as it seems like a good, no BS bloat-less ROM that is otherwise very close to stock Android. But, I do not believe it came with any ROM-specific way of editing colors, themes, icons, etc. So my question is a few parts I guess:
-Is there still a way (downloadable app, editing files, etc) for me to be able to edit colors on the S5 with this ROM?
-In a situation like this, what is the benefit of having a deodexed ROM installed?
-Are there other ROMs similar to R.D.D.T. that currently support the G900P S5 which additionally offer customization?
-What is it with the Galaxy S5 that is causing so many ROMs to not officially support it?
Sorry for the long post, but my primary aim here is to learn everything that I can about this.

I just switched to this per your recommendation. It had quite a bit more included than the ultra-streamlined R.D.D.T, but definitely a lot of customization there! Though I sort of wish it had an option to link certain aspect's colors together, like Alliance or other ROMs allow. Instead you have to go through and copy/paste a color for each aspect. Nit-picking though
Anyway, I do appreciate the suggestion, but I'm still looking for an answer to my question regarding the needs/desires for a deodexed ROM. I'd have to imagine that M.O.A.R. is deodexed because of the color changing capabilities it has, yet R.D.D.T. is also deodexed, but doesn't support these kinds of changes. As I stated in my OP, I was under the impression that customization was the primary reason for a deodexed ROM.
Deodexed just means you can rip/push/edit whatever you want inside an apk (images, parameters) and not have to rebuild the odex file for the apk. You can do the same things on odexed, its just a *****. Deodexed is just far far far easier to edit.
Also, as for MOAR and RDDT: just imagine that MOAR has a built in gravitybox. That's literally all it is.

I see. Is that something you can do after the ROM is flashed? As in, could I flash R.D.D.T. and then edit an APK and reboot to get that effect? Or is it done upon building the ROM itself?

Sure. Just needs a soft reboot or restart the apk you modified.

This is everything that can currently be flashed on the 4.4 update without bricking your device. Which is unfortunately not very much .
I will keep this up to date as much as possible. Post in this thread or PM me if you think something should be added to the list. This can include anything (roms, themes, mods, etc.) that will work for anyone with a locked bootloader using safestrap on 4.4.

It's because it's a TouchWiz 4.4 thread, not an AOSP 4.4 thread. I want to make sure people don't get confused. But it is the kitkat OTA.
@BadUsername thanks for this thread, I'm currently working on my girlfriend's Galaxy S3 she got so this list is helpful. I have one question, since this isn't my primary device, or rather my device at all...is Towelroot advised to gain root?

Yes, towelroot is simple, safe and very fast to gain root. It is simple as just like you install an app from play store.

Hi, I have a question about my locked bootloader and baseband and what not that I can't find any answers to.
If my Verizon GS3 (SCH I535) is running a 4.3 TW rom on baseband I535VRUCML1, can I Odin back to stock, take the OTA, and then flash superliterom? (which is NE1)
Cause I know this locked bootloader is finicky about basebands. Will my baseband stay on ML1 or is there any way to change to NE1? Or any way at all for me to get 4.4 with as little touchwiz bloat as possible?

That's your only option to get kitkat, and yes that is the correct procedure.
Not sure why you'd want to do that though, you're making your phone more limited by taking the update, and you aren't gaining much in terms of functionality.

Well you take what you can get with this locked bootloader, and there are some apps that only work with 4.4 (google camera, for example), plus bug fixes and some new features /improvements. How's it becoming more limited? (genuinely interested if you have a drawback to flashing 4.4)
Oh and can I change basebands without bricking? You were a little ambiguous.
Thanks for the advice and this thread though :good:

You have a couple good points, but simply compare this thread to this thread, you'll see the difference.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50115986
Again if it's not a huge deal to you, then taking the update is fine. Some users report worse battery life on 4.4, but I have no way of verifying users experience. Just remember, once you take 4.4 your rom choice immediately diminishes.
For some reason I can't post links correctly, but check that thread and look at the 4.3 download list.
keyboard
I updated and rooted to 4.4.2 KK, and really like it (except for some battery drain) and the stock keyboard. I had an old Samsung keyboard zip file (Note 2 or Note 3?) and I flashed one of those to get the numeric row on top, and now my Samsung keyboard keeps force closing. I downloaded and installed the Google Keyboard, but wondered how I can get back to my stock keyboard, or even better, how to get the keyboard I was trying to install. TIA!

The following information is what I have gathered by comparing the ROM's available:
The 3 ROM's choices for locked bootloader NE1 are:
Stock = all Verizon/Samsung Bloat included
PaulPizz = mostly debloated with added torch, tether, ringtones, 5x6 Launcher, AOSP style icons
Superlite = completely debloated, with tether
Specifically, PaulPizz includes the following things which are not in Superlite:
S-Voice, allsharecast, mobile print, swype, secExchange, VPN, talkback, secEmail, samsung hub, photo table, localFOTA, gmail, gmsMaps, easysettings, kies, musicfx, myVerizon, galaxy4, SPG, voice recorder, torch, kies, musicFX, sCloud, and a few other things...
I would just like to mention an amazing rom that i just recently discovered that wasn't in our section It is PurifieD 3.5 rom over in the GT-I9505 section it said that it would only work with twrp/cwm and i was able to get it to boot with safestrap 3.75 after 1 slight change it has the option to look like samsung touch wiz or pure aosp theme and aosp lockscrren and apps stock messaging light or dark theme aosp dialer and contacts, clock, browser and more so i encourage everyone to check it out because it is smooth!

Yup. This ROM was ported by Gogollie. This was built with a TouchWiz kernel, that's why it boots, it isn't real GPE without the GPE kernel. Just themed with some AOSP apps.

actually no 3.5 I have never ported. If its davy's ROM still its probably Stock International Wanam ROM Build with KNOX and other crap cleaned up with options to install AOSP apps by DSA creator of BlackBox another great Hybrid or its 100% TouchWiz with his Domination theme flashed over the top. If you dont know what Domination is in terms of a theme its one of the greatest themes ever made. I miss the option to go white with it sometimes tho. Its themed to look nearly identical to AOSP. Theres other Aroma options to MOD the ROM to act more like AOSP or install AOSP Apps like Calculators, Camera, and stuff. The Aroma installer is pretty nifty and lets you somewhat De-Bloat while installing it.
My newest ROM looks completely different and installs at half the size. Its also a minimal install / beast with speed and battery. I dont know its been posted here but you should be able to use it no problem. with safestrap just flash your modules to get wifi working. and if your at&T you might have to flash an apn patch to replace the apns from /etc directory with your own. or maybe manually entering them would work too. Its nearly all AOSP but yes in order to maintain good data signal, wifi, tethering, usb, etc I had to make a ROM over the TW so the Stock Kernel that most of AT&T/VZW has to run with a locked bootloader would be able to use these features of the phone with no problems. Theres also a "Smoke Weed Everyday"Nate Dogg Audio Clip during shutdown that I accidentally forgot to remove before releasing so if at work or school you might want to delete the file PowerOff.ogg from the /system/media/audio/ui folder you can also replace the file or PowerOn.ogg for startup sound with any mp3 or ogg file just rename it to that file name...

I've ran Purified for a long time on the 4.4.2, it's a TouchWiz-based ROM so it works with Safestrap just fine. It's using the Domination AOSP them package, it's a solid rom and I'm happy to see it's update I'll have to switch back.
