Verify the file us good and for your exact model of phone. Then wipe everything and re - flash from recovery. Make sure to install a GAPPs package if you need to.

Root sidekick quick and easy. One click with recovery

Guys so i wanted to root my phone and
1) i just didnt have to patience to do all the work
2) i didnt get some stuff
3) and i wanted to do this quickly and effectively
i found this youtube video after like an hour of searching and it worked GREAT. [Video and end of post]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
pretty much the instructions are to:
Download the drivers first *NECESARRY*******IMPORTANT. this is one of the ke things cause without this is wont work in the beginning
*JUST A MENTION*
i tried doing this on my 64 bit system and it wasnt as easy when i did it on my 32 bit.
so it could have just been my comp.
just a heads up.
64 bit driver:
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x64.shtml
32 bit.
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x86.shtml
After that you're going to download this file:
http://tinyurl.com/Sidekick4GALLinOne
this is the file/folder whatever that will root your sidekick and add the CWM.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^REQUIRES WINRAR^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok so to start rooting and the CWM
1) You're going to install the the driver that you download...64 bit or 32 bit etc.
2) after that you're going to set your phone to "USB DEBUGGING" when connect and ofcourse
connect your phone
after that your open up the folder thats called "sk4g root with good recovery"
3) ignore everything you see and just go straight to run.bat
4) click it and then wait, "Press any key to continue" press anything
5) let the thing run and you should be set at the end.
ENJOY
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
your phone will reboot during the process and that is ok
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
if your doing this to install a new rom i recommend ayoteddy's GingerCloneV2. if great and has barly any glitches

You cqnt just flash cwm from rom manager, you have to trick the phone into booting into a cwm "clone" there is a thread on how to do his, I am in class now, but when I get out I will post the link, or you may be able to find it.

This phone doesn't have much of a life left anymore anyway. Most people have already left. The phone was a great idea, just needed to have better specs and have a more open source. Right now its just on it's last breath. Kinda makes me sad, the keyboard was amazing. The doubleplays keyboard doesn't even compare. But I couldn't handle how slow a single core CPU is. As with most people.

BRICKED!!! Please help.

I backed up my phone using non-root apps. Wiped out my phone.
Rooted using SuperOneClick, worked perfectly, installed ROM Manager, updated CWM recovery, booted into CWMR, and tired to install RAGE 4. BRICKED.
Then found out how to get into download mode, ODINed back to stock, downloaded ROM Manager, updated CWMR, booted into CWMR, wiped out everything (Dlvik cache, system cache, etc), and tried to install another ROM (Revolution 170MB), BRICKED!! Except this time, I can't get into Download Mode to get back to recovery. I get a pair of logos, a picture of a phone connected to a pc with dots, and an orange triangle in the middle with an exclamation point...
Please help.
LOL that is an alt download mode us one click hemidall by adamoutler and it should work btw rom manager from the market does not work nor ever will
Check your mounts when you flash, k?

Agreed with the two above.
Check your mounts before flashing with NORMAL CWM.
However, if you flash krylon360s voodoo recovery you can't brick because of your mounts. Highly recommended.

OK. Here's the thing, everyone keeps saying check your mounts, check your mounts, again and again as if this is elementary knowledge. While I understand that this is a fundamentally important step, I don't understand. The noob guides do not talk about "checking your mounts". Google just talks about checking car mounts, adding android in the search doesn't help either.
Could someone please explain to me exactly how I check my mounts, and what the information in the checks mean? That would make me feel a lot less dumb.

I was able to get back to stock thankfully.
But I wasn't using the ROM Manager from the market, I was using the one downloaded straight from the CWM site. It was able to flash CWM and I was able to boot into CWM Recovery from the app, but could you please tell me why it doesn't work, or what doesn't work? Cuz it looked like it was working to me. Plz frgv my noobiness.

This thread might clear it up. MIGHT ... cos it confused me at first (as did all the other ROM installation advice, etc about mounts) but I think I finally got it in the end ... or maybe the thread has the wrong information you might as well check it out! -> HERE.
PS - if the info in the thread is wrong, can someone provide clearer & correct answers please?

rom manager app g2x

hello all, im very new at this. I currently have G2X rooted stock rom GB, I saw oon googple play about the rom manager and i saw the video example on how they can change the rom. I want to know if anyone has use this app what are the specific steps to use this app with the g2x. I know the phone is special and it may or may not work like the example on google play, also is this app worth it and can it be use safely without damaging the phone.
thank you for the time
You need to flash CWM using NVFlash on the G2x; ROM Manager won't do the trick.
Look in the forum fire a thread titled "Getting Started with your G2x" or something like that.

Just make sure you use NVFlash and your good. First time I tried to get cm7 on my phone it got stuck in a boot loop easy to get out of but just use nvflash saves u the hassle I'm pretty sure somewhere on the cyanogenmod forums they got a guide on exactly how to use it with pictures worst comes to worst Google it

thank you all very much...my phone already has the CWM... im just very nervous of chaingin the rom again. When i got this phone it originally had froyo and i didnt wait for the OVA update so i use lg then i had a few problems so i rooted to fix the battery with some apps and now I want to change the rom to the cm7 rom but im very nervous about it and i need to know how to do that and how to download that rom
As long as you used NVFlash for CWM, it's super easy. Just download the ROM you want and save it to your SD card. Then go in CWM, wipe data, cache, and system, then choose "install from zip file"and select the ROM you downloaded. Voila
Oh, and don't forget gapps, too. It installs the same way

You could easily find this but
1.download cm7 and appropriate gapps
2.go into recovery recommended you make a backup
3.wipe data and factory reset, wipe cache partition, go to advanced>wipe dalvik cache
4.go back install zip from SD>pick cyanogenmod
5.install zip from SD>gapps
The names of what to click may be off by a bit and You probably already found this or know how but just in case xD

The good thing about this phone is it's practically impossible to brick it. Worst case scenario you can always use NVFlash to recover it

[old, ignore] anyone plan to root a virgin phone? (no longer necessary, ignore this)

EDIT: Thanks guys, I no longer have this need. Thank you
Folks,
I'm trying to generate a root method that doesn't trip the flash counter in the download mode. If you boot in the download mode, there's a counter for how many non-stock flashes you've done. Anyone here who has rooted has likely tripped this counter and is at least at "1" if not more.
One of the devs helping me with my work has requested a partition from a non-tripped phone, but that of course would require having root. So I've created a flashable stock samsung rom with root injected. But I need help testing it.
The counter is one of those things that could get your support request denied if you ever have to take your phone in for repair.
Mind you... if the test doesn't work, the phone will have it's counter tripped... and that's all on you. I can't be held responsible. I mean, I suppose you could hate me, but it's your own fault for helping
Any takers?
Any phone can meet this requirement by flashing the reset counter package that used to be on here... I think someone linked the package and it's in the themes area. Then the flash counter will now say 'no' but it will still say custom binary. To remove this flash back to stock and update to ics via kies. Then the flash counter will say no and binary will say Samsung official. Hope that will help.
Edit: if the reset counter is no longer there I believe it's the same as the sgs2 (I think that's where the OP pulled it from when they posted it in the themes area). Or if you want I could put the copy I have on dropbox and link it here.

ahhh, ok, lemme find a place to upload my modded root injected tarball.
Mostly, I want to make sure that, if you go into download mode, it says that the counter is at 0. If it's not at 0, then this is pointless
The idea is to upgrade to the latest version through kies. Either that or do a data reset/wipe and then stop the phone from booting when it goes to reboot.
Then, boot into download mode and flash my root injected tar through odin. Once that's done, when you reboot, it should be rooted. If you then go into download mode again, the counter should still be at 0.
If this is the case, then I'll ask you to get me the contents of a partition on your phone.
For now, lemme find a place to upload my tar to. It's huge.
EDIT: Wait... just saw the other stuff... lemme try doing that. If it doesn't work for me, we'll proceed

Oh, thanks, Yeah. Was just trying to generate that partition.
I have a 600M tar file you could flash with odin and wouldn't trip the counter, but it'd take 2 hours to upload, and I'd need somewhere to upload, which is near impossible at that size.
The partition flash that's in themes & apps is for the T989, so maybe there's some bad identifying information there, who knows. While it'd be nice to have an exact version for our phone, that method is good enough for me and for the dude asking me for it
Thanks though!
You could try adrive.com it allows 2gb per file, though I'm not sure on the speed side of things. Seems they have an Android app too.
Lol no worries. I've sent back three phones so far with that other flash. Worked just fine
