not work me the 3 g or 4 g in my phone, is originally from t-mobile and I have it with orange, any way to resolve this problem?
You need to provide more information about what the problem is. The more information, the easier it is to diagnose the problem.
What ROM/Kernel are you running? Are your APNs set correctly? Did you install something that might affect the radios?

the ROM is Cyanogenmod 9.1.0 Release 8 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730954 APN is correctly, to unlock it, use the SGS4G AROMA Unlocker

I've used my tmobile sgs4g on orange, it works just fine, you just need to remember to call up t-mo and enable international roaming.

Does anyone know if its at all possible to build a mod that can enable the GSM Radio for the Verizon SGS3? As of now only the CDMA and LTE radios are enabled, but Verizon plans to enable global roaming "in a future update". Seeing as how i'll be going oversees in 2 weeks I'd like to know if any of you talented devs has thought about creating a script or mod to enable global GSM roaming?
enable GSM radio on vz sgs3
Someone should correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe adding GSM support would require 2 things:
1) support in the modem software (I don't think we have the source for this right now)
2) support in the kernel (I also don't think we have the source for this either)
I think we are at the mercy of VZW's release schedule for global roaming until we can solve our bootloader issues and get source (which may never happen).
Right now, InvisibleK and other devs are devoting a lot of resources to flashing a custom bootloader. So far, they've been able to flash a custom boot.img to the recovery partition (including an insecure kernel). A potential downfall is that we loose our recovery partition in the process. They've been able to overwrite the bootloader but there is another check somewhere else. Perhaps a HW check in the snapdragon s4 (qualcomm secureboot)?

I have noticed GSM settings and international settings as well on sprint's version. I wonder if they plan on doing the same thing..
I'll be following this thread.

i guess not =( would be nice ya know for sprint to be able to work with gsm.
not sure they have the slot for the sim though.
If Verizon plans on adding support then maybe all it needs is an unlock. Anyone with an unlocked verizon gs3 try a GSM sim?

Mike Reid, developer of Spirit Radio app, has been working a lot on this. He states the problem is with the LTE radio in the North American version. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732685
Hi guys,
So I know it is super specific but I was wondering if anyone has used their Verizon GSIII in Portugal. I know theoretically it should work but I was looking through this thread and noticed that user Beemer533 wasn't able to get SMS and data to work even though he has used the same method in many other countries. Do you think the new update that Verizon launched a while ago should have fixed it? I know Beemer533's problem was before that update.
Thanks so much!
It should work fine, use a custom touchwiz rom though, if you are gonna be stock then you dont be able to get Data working

I'm using CleanROM V6. That should work, yeah?
Also, I just wanna be absolutely sure, should this work by just putting in the sim card or should I still use the method described in the OP of that thread I linked?
Thanks again!
Buy tomorrow this exact model
Tomorrow i go buy a cousin this exact model...
I read all the posts and my question is simples. This Verizon model works in Portugal with GSM to make calls and sem text messages, and with 3G?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to say but I will be arriving in Lisboa on Monday, I will let you know if I get it working!
I am here in Lisbon now and voice, sms, and data are working perfectly. This is with the latest CleanROM R6 based on Jelly Bean. I believe you need a custom ROM like this to get data to work properly.

Did you automatically get the APN? or have to install a apn manager app?
Before I arrived I did install an APN manager app and I put into it all the possible APN's that Vodafone might use. But when I put in the SIM card it picked it up right away without me having to go into the app or anything. So I think the APN manager is not needed, but you may want to set it up before hand just to be safe.
Cheers!
Hey, I apologize if this isnt the forum for this, but I'm looking for a way to get my friend's metro PCS S3 rooted recovered and rom'd. Now, there doesn't seem to be a wealth of information on it, but I figured that the vzw and metro variants are pretty similar as they're both CDMA, and found some guy on a forum *somewhere* saying you could flash over roms and get everything to work, but he didn't really elaborate on that any. I'm pretty lost here, I don't even know if the metro PCS s3 bootloader is locked or not, but any information would be helpful.

Starting off the MetroPCS Galaxy S3 has a unlocked bootloader. To root the device you can use the US Cellular version of CF-AUTO Root http://download.chainfire.eu/230/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-d2usc-d2usc-schr530u.zip. You can get CWMR for your device here http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.1-d2mtr.img or if you prefer the touch version of CWMR http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.1-d2mtr.img. As far using VZW ROMs I have also seen people use them and they usually work fine except for data and sms/mms problems however some APN tweaking should solve these problems.

If you go under settings>more settings> wireless and networks>mobile networks>acess point names or similar you should be able to edit the APN settings which provide the information you need to send and receive data and sms/mms. For a good ROM I would recommend taking a look at CM 10 or CM 10.1 nightly builds from here.
Hi Everyone,
I'm using a Samsung Galaxsy S3 LTE i9305 and it has been working flawlessly in Australia on a stock and custom ROM.
I'm currently travelling in the US and I have purchased a T-Mobile prepaid SIM. After inserting the new SIM I have been able to get a edge network connection and making phone calls works fine. However, ive only been able to get a Edge data connection, no 2G, 3G or 4G. This occurs in all locations, I have been in 4 major cities and it is the same.
I called T-Mobile and we checked all the settings. They were unable to find anything wrong and escalated my issue to the 3rd level team. I'm waiting to hear from them. In the mean time I have tried the following wihout succes. The phone is running cyogenmod 10.2 Nightly, I upgraded this to the latest 11.x Nightly and the result was no network connection at all. Furthermore after the upgrade I was not able to enter any APN settings, it was as if no SIM was insirted. Next I tried downgrading to Cyogenmod 10.1 Stable release and the result was the same. Finally I tried installing Paranoid Android 3.99 RC1 and again same result, no network at all.
Im running out of ideas. My next move is to try a stock rom but I hope I can avoid it because it is a large download and I have no access to a computer. What do you guys think could be causing it?

What is your radio version ? Is yours International version ?
I recently received an AT&T G3 from a friend and would like to use it on T-Mobile, with T-Mobile's wi-fi calling enabled since I get terrible signal inside my home. The phone is currently sim locked to AT&T. I do have it rooted but that's as far as I've gone.
I have two questions:
1) what is the best way to sim unlock? does anyone recommend a service? I'd like to get this done quickly so that I can begin messing with it on T-Mobile.
2) will I be able to install a stock T-Mo ROM on the device to access T-Mo specific features/apps, and how would I go about doing that? I am familiar with flashing ZIPs and reverting back to stock, but I've never gone cross-carrier before. Does it even matter?

If the phone was fully paid off you can unlock it for free on att website.
No you cannot. You'll run into big issues and or soft brick you can only flash what your model is. You may flash a custom D851 based custom rom if that's available if someone's built it for the D850 but you cannot flash other models stock roms.
