[Q] Bluetooth for (apparently) device not compatible for bluetooth. - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I have a question for all of you.
I bought an Irulu 7 tablet that was advertised as not bluetooth compatible, and i decided to look at all the apps, and on all apps section I found an app called "Bluetooth Share". I was wondering, since it doesn't have any other hint of bluetooth capability, if I could get an app that would enable bluetooth on it?

Bluetooth is a piece of hardware. If the tablet doesnt support bluetooth then there is at least a 99% certainty that it does not have the bluetooth hardware. That is not something which can be rectified with an app.

Ok, is there a way to check if i have the bluetooth hardware, or is it a bug with the os that an app called bluetooth share is on the tablet?

[REQ] Possible Bluetooth App

Wondering if there's a way to make my Evo behave as a Bluetooth headset so I can connect it to my PS3 when I go online. I always seem to lose my BT headset and would be great if I can use my Evo and broadcast it over its external speaker. I've tried searching in the Market and on the net for an apparently that would allow us to do that. I would imagine since our phone is BT ready, it would be easy to cook up an app to allow this function. Problem is I have zero app developing experience.

i think the playstation's Bluetooth works a bit different then normal? I think this because of the way you need to pair the controller on PC bluetooth dongles. It's not as simple as a regular bluetooth device.

Well, out of the box, if the Evo offered a BT service as a "headset" then it wouldnt be a problem. You can use any bluetooth headset on the PS3 as long as you have the sync pin, ya know.
So it sounds possible, but I'm not a developer either so I don't know for sure.

[Q] Bluetooth Issues

Does anyone have problems connecting their Desire S to Bluetooth devices?
My phone seems to pair to my Bluetooth hands free kit but no connection actually happens. The same situation for another Bluetooth kit i have and also my laptop!
I just upgraded from a normal Desire and it worked perfectly with all the devices.
I tried changing the radio and also upgraded the Rom from 1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.080 5U_38.03.02.11
to
1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085 AU_3805.06.02.03
I have searched for solutions but have not found any on XDA

My main Bluetooth device is a Merlin Car Mirror Kit V2.
When connected and properly paired it should 'beep' twice, but now it just connects and the phone says its paired. When you make a call it shows it is dialling but no sound comes through both ways.

Bluetooth issue in car

Whenever I connect my phone by Bluetooth to my car's stereo, only the front speakers work, nothing from the 2 rear speakers. I've tried adjusting the fade and checking settings in poweramp but still nothing. I'm not sure if this would be an issue with my phone, the ROM, or the car audio system. I'm thinking it's an issue with the car's audio but I figured I'd ask here in case somebody else has had the same issue. I am on liquid smooth 3.0 April 24th build with elemental x kernel but I had the same issue with my galaxy s4

I have no problem with nexus 5 and my car Bluetooth connectivity.
Make sure that your audio system, GPS and make and model are compatible with the bluetooth from the phone. Some other connectivity issues are that the car kit cannot decode the Bluetooth device that it is trying to connect. This decode means that the system cannot recognize the name. This is a frequent problem when devices have been upgraded. While your system may have worked fine before, upgrades can cause problems because the compatibility all of a sudden changes. This is an issue that has not really been addressed by the manufacturers.
Another frequent problem that can occur is that the Bluetooth will connect but then it will not stay connected and only one speaker is running,. Many times this can be a hardware issue.
So the bluetooth device can connect but it does not work properly. In this case there is an issue with the stereo connection to the Bluetooth unit. There is nothing actually wrong with the bluetooth or devices but this is a software issue. To fix it see if the manufacturer is offering any updates. If one person has had the issue then you can bet that many people will have the problem. This is a problem with the car kit software as no matter which phone or earpiece you use the audio will not play from the speakers. Check that the vehicle supports bluetooth audio as some only will support bluetooth phone calls. These are 2 very different things.
Most of the time, look into the settings for the bluetooth and the car system. If the car battery should die then the system may reset to the defaults. This means that all of the current settings will be lost and need to be reset. Not only will you need to check the settings in the car system but also in your phone or other bluetooth device. In order to correct the bluetooth settings the device will need to be connected to the computer.

I have an aftermarket Kenwood double DIN deck with Bluetooth 2.1. It connects perfectly fine, shows up with Nexus 5 when pairing, shows the song title, shows the name of the person calling... It works great when plugged in through the aux port, but of course doesn't show me any information that way. When I had the S4 it showed up as SGH-M919. It stays connected just fine and I had it playing for a while before I tried turning up the volume and noticed it didn't sound right and figured out the rear speakers weren't playing.
I just checked and noticed there is a somewhat recent update on Kenwood's site but it was still about 3 weeks before I bought the deck... I'll try doing that though. (edit) just checked again and the update isn't for my model, there's no software for it
Thank you for answering since I'm pretty sure now that it's a problem with the stereo and nothing to do with Android lol
Kind of embarrassed to admit it but...I did have Car Toys install it so... they probably didn't do a very great job. I knew I should have had either Best Buy do it or tracked down a friend that could do it. Oh well

[Q]

My nexus 5 is paired to the PC but I have no handsfree option when connected. anyone came across this? microsoft bluetooth stack on the lapptop which is samsung np9003xc (series 9). Anyone has similar a problem?
The paired Nexus 5 properties shows handsfree telephony gateway but there is nothing in the services for that. Services only shows Send File, Play Music and Synchronize PIM Data.
I wonder if the problem is due to the stack or anything else.
Any ideas?
Ehud
Are you sure the laptop is supposed to act as a headset?
Please can you use proper thread titles?

Sorry about the problem with the thread title - somehow I didn't get it right and have no idea how to fix it.
Getting back to the issue at hand - I've read extensively and I can't understand if the problem is on the side of the laptop - a Samsung Series 9 running Win7 64-bit and having an Intel Centrino advanced n-6235 wifi/bluetooth combo card or on the side of the Nexus.
As far as I can understand what would be needed is a2dp support which in win7 isn't built in and has to be supplied by the bluetooth radio vendor which maybe intel didn't do so although the service shows up in the bluetooth device properties (Nexus 5 in this case) it isn't really working so I can't use that option.
I'm sure others may have come across a similar problem and I would like to know if there may be an issue on the Phone side as well...
Thanks,
Ehud
The phone options are determined by the bluetooth device at the other end. If you can connect to a bluetooth headset properly, that rules out an issue on the phone.

[Completed] Bluetooth HID problem: nonkeyboard devices detected as hardware keyboard

With Android L and M, this problem seem to be more prevalent.
I have a Bluetooth headset, 4.1 and all that. it works fine, except on Android, it registered itself as an HID device, not as BT headset. (In BT settings, it shows as keyboard) though it works fine as a headset it is very problematic as this also means the phone will not show me the soft keyboard until I go into IME and turn off hardware keyboard.
I've since seen other people reported this happening with Selfie sticks (BT version) and possibly other devices.
How can this be resolved permanently, i.e. ignore hardware button on device X? Or does this require a patch, Xposed module, etc.? If replacing the device is not practical? Or is there something in Bluetooth settings that can be manipulated? Root / tasker / Xposed?

Greetings,
Thank you for using XDA Assist. For further assistance, please ask your questions here:

Good luck!
Actually I answered my own question:
Regarding the headset, I went into bluetooth device settings (the little gear next to the device in Bluetooth) and turned off "input device" profile.
Selfie stick is another problem. Turns out those are ONLY meant to work inside camera apps, preferably Stock camera (not Google Camera, which can be a problem on Nexus devices). They HAVE to act as input device. No other way around it, unless Bluetooth SIG want to define a category just for remote triggers / selfie sticks.
