Post your battery life screenshots - HTC Desire S

Hi.
I decided to create this thread in order to check how affected battery life is from different types of usage. Every user uses his phone at his one way so some might get more, others might get less. And also post please how are old your batteries...
Thanks in advance

I don't have screen now but usually about 4-5 hours of screen on + wifi

what?? 4-5 hours?? I don't belive you!
what's your configuration?
i arrive to 2 hours/2:30 max.. and i have a mugen battery...

original 1450mAh battery (almost one year old), stock rom + kernel(stock rom does have good battery life compared to for example sabsa prime or ICE DS), auto brightness, 2G only....I can go up to 4-5 hours of screen on time (with wifi on)...after 2 hours I still have 40-50% of fuel left ...I charge it usually every 2 days

Orginal battery is better then mugen battery,

Hi All,
my HTC Saga is doing really well as a phone and I don't really need much more than that usually, thus I manage to get 2-3 full days on battery.
Attached two typical screen shots, when I do: few texts, few phone calls, 2-3 email/weather sync on WiFi a day. 3G/WiFI typically off. Airplane mode at night (all radio off).
Cheers!

would you guys wanna post the dump from BBS? screen shot doesn't tell much about usage....

That's a pretty good time, do you think battery life is better on stock GB than custom GB/ICS? How often do you use Wi-fi? Currently on Fallout v5

Can someone tell me why me battery life is so crap on HTC sensation. I'm using evo 3d battery which is 1730 mah.but what's annoying is that my brightness is set to auto and 15 second to turn the screen off but still my display is using more than 90%.
Please help me because everything is turned off and only wifi is on.

And change back to the Sensation battery, it's actually better than the 3Ds. The Evo guys are using the Sensation battery and getting about 2hrs more in back to back tests. Be happy you don't have a 3D. When I had mine, I got 2hrs hard use with 4G and 4hrs with 3g. I get 8hrs with my Sensation overclocked.

Well for starters, your screen was on for almost 2 hours straight and your signal wasn't very good for most of that. I can assume that since your screen was on for 2 hours straight you must have been using it or the screen would not have been on that long. Streaming a 2 hour movie on a not so great connection will eat your battery up almost completely, especially if you are using full brightness. Android phones in general are battery eaters. My Sensation battery life is actually a lot better than my Vibrant was so I'm happy. Buy a couple batteries on Ebay for 15 bucks or use Juice Defender. I use my phone pretty heavily and can make it through the day. I can get over 24 hours using Juice Defender.
Did You wipe battery stats after change battery?
Also tell us which ROM and Kernel You use now. I'm sure that 3/4 ROM's here are useless. I have ROM from new leak and have 0 issues, also with battery.
I got two Anker 1900mAh batteries and they made a reasonable improvement to my use.
Typically with full sync and okish signal I got about 1h40m of screen on time with about 14 hours off charger.
With Anker under the same daily use its between 2h to 3h screen on in the same period.
Also that means I now have three batteries.
Sorry to say but having owned a Motorola Milestone, Galaxy S, Nexus S and now Sensation I can simply say that the battery life on Android is crap in general for heavy users.
My girl has an iPhone 3G and 4, the screen on time is often over 6 hours which I put down to intimate development of software and hardware.
I am choosing flexibility over longevity for now.

It's the kernel that's in the version of the ROM you have.
Flash 3.6.5 XE and it'll fix the problem.
Also having Wifi on and using it for 2 hours straight will drain your battery.

Did you calibrate or change radios recently? You could have a defective battery(s) or maybe the kernel is causing excessive drain.
I noticed this issue too when I was using Sense-based ROMs before I switched to a CM7-based rom.
Been off battery for 9 hours and 9 minutes with 77% left - I've never seen battery life this great and I don't think I see myself going back to Sense any time soon for my HTC Sensation 4G.
I was very disapointed with how fast the stock HTC Sensation battery drained even with normal use, just like you.
I took the advise from some here and got the Anker battery from Ebay for 10.00.
The best thing I ever did.
WOW! Did it improve the battery life on the Sensation.
Now I do not have to worry about the battery draining down fast on me.
With the Anker battery, my phone lasts all day and into the night .

i have just recently bought the evo3d battery the only reason i did not buy anker is because for some thick reason i didnt wanted to buy the anker battery beside i bought the legit evo3d battery which works for sensation. i dont want to buy anker battery for time begin because i dont think i need three battery beside yesterday i just installed 3.6.5 and for time being the battery lasted me very good and if the battery give me 12 hours everyday than ill stick with these two batteries
3.6.5 is using battery more effecient than 3.6.4 did thanks to a member who told me to install 3.6.5

[Q] Battery Thoughts....?

Rom: Ordroid 3.0.2
Kernel: bricked 1.0 - default 1566/192/486, low OC gpu
Battery: Anker 1900
Auto Brightness
3G mode only (cuz of network)
Undervolt: -50 from stock bricked voltage
With those settings... in 1 hour of screen time I have seen to gone from 89% battery to 40% :S...
is it just me... or does that seem a bit drastic fall? I see people with 5 hour screen time... how are you guys achieving this....
please if you can include all your setting as well....
PS: is there better battery savings in sense 3.6? or does it make no difference?
It depends on what you do. If you play some really hardcore games. It's going to be like that. If you just browse the web you should be able to achieve the 5 hours mark. It can also be that the battery memory is not accurate.

The 3g only mode chew through battery too, but not to the point of 40% in 1hour.

do a restart after that 1hour and see if battery level pump up again..
if it is .... it would be fine
Ya I've noticed if I restart it does jump battery up a bit... But that drains very quickly too....
Longest battery I have gotten was 16hr on wifi... But the screen on time max was 2 1/2 hours... Which makes no sense cuz my s2 has a smaller battery but I could use it a lot more
I have the same rom and kernel but using the stock battery and I have never got more than 2hours on hsdpa browsing. It is extremely annoying to not have the ability to go somewhere without carying a charger. But at the same time I found out that my phone has very good battery life when sleeping. It never drains more than 3% over night (7-8 hours). So the problem is that the screen drains battery quite a lot. Also my phone gets really hot in the lower area of software buttons, is anybody else experiencing this?
Yep that overheating happens to me as well if I'm playing a game or something for 15 minutes or so... I read that that's a hardware issue with no fix :S...
And yep that's the same battery life I get... Which is very sad ... Really no way to use this phone as a work phone with the pathetic screen time -_-

i agree with u it's really waste for sensation..

Sensation XE Battery appauling

Bought the sensation XE a couple of days ago. The only think I keep about is the battery.
I have two HTC batteries and I have been using them simultaneously (taking one out put next in, other goes on charge etc)
I am going through two full charges a day and am on the third battery.
This is crazy, is it me? What am I doing wrong? Might me ICS..?
What settings are you using on your phone? (auto brightness, background data..etc...) And what is your usage rate? Are you using stock or custom ROM?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA
What apps do you have installed and what accounts on sync?
It usually take a while for the battery to reach it's full capacity. Give it like a week, then judge the battery.
my battery was horrible! I finally put Anker battery in ,rooted, got custom Rom, now its excellent! Very happy! Can go all day without charge!

Mind posting a picture of your batt stats? And how many hours of screen time you have. Here are some tips..
1. Use manual brightness. I usually use 10-50% only. The lower your brightness the less power you consume.
2. Disable auto sync. Disable push notifications unless really needed.
3. Disable led lights and vibrations for keyboard and soft keys.
4. Use mobile data only when you need to. If not, turn it off.
5. You can try juicedefender. Works for some, doesn't work for me.
6. Don't use live wallpapers.
7. Run a custom rom and kernel. I'm using virtuous inquisition 4.0.2 with sebastionFM 1.4.1 kernel. It's fast smooth yet easy on the battery.
8. As your battery is still new give it a few charge cycles. It should stabilise within a week or so..
9. Do download betterbatterystats and check on what's hogging your battery. Also check with cpuspy whether your phone goes into deep sleep or not.
With the methods I've mentioned I'm achieving about 20 hours standby with 5 hours of screen time. I consider myself quite a heavy user. If you do your math that's like 15minutes of use per hour.

I get 4:10 hours of screen on time only. Every single time +/- 10 minutes. Charge every 2 days.
95% of 4:10 hours is web browsing, Words with Friends and Draw Something.

Wifi, Mobile Data controlled by Easy Battery Saver on Intelligent Mode.
Brightness-> Auto Brightness. Most 50%+ because I work outdoors.

Gaming-> Only 2D.

Web browsing -> Mostly Wifi only because I have Wifi wherever I go.

My iPhone 4 used to last me 3-4 days. The screen on time for that was 7-8 hours. Yeah so the battery life is really appalling. Buying iPhone 5 (6) when it comes.

Battery Life Complaints?

I was just wondering why there are so many complaints about the battery life on the s3...right now I'm on aosp pure Google and with 18 hours on the battery for the day I'm at 87%...This is pretty average with most of the aosp Roms I have used...I turn of WiFi and 4g unless I'm using them and I have a few battery tweaks in my init.d and build.prop that are on just about every site that is android related and are pretty easy to apply... If .7 % per hour is really something to complain about then get a junky flip phone...you should be able to get like 3 days out of that...battery drain is going to happen when you basically have a handheld laptop with the power and capabilities the s3 has...Just sayin

A lot of people here are considered in the 'heavy usage' category, which the stock battery drains quickly. For me, I could drain the battery in 5-6 hours easily. And fyi the time the phone is on matters very little, it's all about screen on time. With my extended battery I get 8-10 hours of SCREEN ON which is the most important aspect, glad the stock battery works okay for your usage, everyone is different.

Unfortunately I believe you're confusing uptime with the amount of time the screen is on, I can guarantee you do not get 8-10 hours of the screen being on in a single charge with the stock battery, even at the lowest brightness setting. Post screen shots of those two screens when you get that much, I'd love to see it! That was only my 3rd cycle with the 4400 mAh battery, it's even better now, I just haven't taken any new screen shots.
Oh, and my brightness was at 50-75% that day.

Battery life bad even on Anker 1900!!! Help!!

Hi all,
I brought my HTC Sensation z710e about 14 months ago, and I'm a pretty heavy user, so battery life took a hit.
After about 8-9 months i got 4-5 hours screen on time on the stock battery. About 7 hrs heavy usage. I tried formatting the phone, and kept an eye on battery abusive wake locks, but to no avail.
To rectify that I've tried various roms (Elegencia 4, VipersS 1.6, Albinomans CM 10.1) among a few and also tried undervolting the phone. Nothing.
Then about a month ago, I brought a 1900mAh Anker battery which according to a lot of XDA threads is the problem solver for all battery issues.
I've been using that battery with Albinomans rom, and I have tried wiping battery stats to ensure the battery starts from a clean slate, but still I get barely 7 hrs, far from the promised 2days.
That leads me to conclude that something is wrong with my setup. And having tried many roms and kernels, formatting my phone and doing most other stuff suggested on the XDA threads, I cant work out whats wrong.
If it is a hardware issue, is there any way of finding out what it is, and what would be the way to rectify.
Any help would be higly appreciated
(although I've been and rooting and playing around with my phone for abt 3months now, this is my first thread on XDA. It may be a little unorganised in the way its written. If i've left any info out plz let me know. Thanx)

hello, if you use many applications that constantly require the 3G part of your mobile , it is quite normal ...
With my stock battery, i'm about 20hours and more but if i play games for a long time it's normal that battery drops.
I even think that you can be happy that your battery takes 7 hours using it a lot.
Try these CPU settings :
Governor Lazy or Badass
Min : 384Mhz or 432Mhz

hello, if you use many applications that constantly require the 3G part of your mobile , it is quite normal ...
With my stock battery, i'm about 20hours and more but if i play games for a long time it's normal that battery drops.
I even think that you can be happy that your battery takes 7 hours using it a lot.

This part all rings true. You cannot measure the battery life by how long you go between charges. That's almost irrelevant information because if ti's set up properly the phone will use very minimal battery when the screen is off.
The proper way to measure the battery life is by how much screen on time you get plus phone talk time between charges. With an Anker on Albino's CM10.1 ROM that should be 3 to 5 hours depending on a few other things. If that 3 to 5 hours happens all at once, then you'll need to recharge in 3 to 5 hours. If you use it sparingly over 2, 3, or ever 4 days before you've use it for a total of 3 to 5 hours, then it'll last that long between charges.
The 2 things that use the battery are the screen's backlight and the cell radio. Those two things are the battery users. Bluetooth and Wifi are too. But theoretically you're not using bluetooth or wifi unless you are talking on a call or having the screen on. So you can still measure by the scren on plus talk time. And if you use bluetooth and wifi a lot your total use will be closer to 3 hours than 5 hours.

This part is not true. It has no effect on anything. And when you install any ROM the battery stats are going to get wiped anyway because you are replacing the entire contents of the system directory.
No amount of wiping battery stats, calibrating batteries, or any of that mumbo jumbo is going to help. It's all snake oil.
Also keep in mind that you do need to give a new ROM 3 to 5 full charge and discharge cycles before you really see what the battery life is like. If you're jumping from ROM to ROM every day to test battery life you'll never get an honest look at what batter life is like on any of them.
Kernel
Thanx very much,
Any suggestions on what JB kernel to use??

On albino's ROM? You only have 2 options. The one that comes with it, which is perfectly fine. Or SultanKernel, which isn't terribly different. But the install process of sultan gives you more configuration options.
