Alright so I have had Andromeda 2.0 installed on my captivate for quite a while now, needless to say those guys did an excellent job building that puppy. I was even able to turn one of my die hard AT&T friends toward it. I grow tired of things quickly, so now I'm looking to upgrade my phone once again to a new ROM. I haven't made up my mind completely yet, I still love Andromeda might switch to a new kernel IDK. Give me what you think will be a good ROM for a somewhat newbie ROM flasher/user/developer.
But any way, the real reason why I'm posting on this forum is because a scholarship opportunity that became available to me.
But any way, the real reason why I'm posting on this forum is because a scholarship oppurtunity that became available to me. The scholarship is called "Your Question Your Mark" and it valued at 40K (10K/year). UD is a private school that has an excellent engineering program that has many ties to WPAFB, and allot of respect. The downside is UD costs a pretty penny, and my parents don't want to fork over too much dough. So the most of tuition lies on me. Financial aid from FASA is out out of the question too.
I've already been accepted into the UD electrical engineering program, and I hope to major in electro-optics in the future.
So what am I asking from the viewer of this thread? Just go to the link and click on the like button under my video, and if you are feeling saint like distribute the video to other laser enthusiasts and friends. You don't even have to watch it, however you may learn a lil something. You will need a Facebook account to do so though. If you don't have a Facebook, they are pretty cool an all...
You can look through some of the other videos, just don't like any of them. Please! It is competition based on the amount of votes you receive. The top 10 videos with the most votes are to be judged, 3 videos are selected. 1st prize is $40,000 and 2nd and 3rd are only $2500. Yeah I know big drop off.
Sorry about the choice in music, originally I made a pretty sweet intro using Animoto to Livin on a Prayer. I posted the Intro on YouTube then ripped it off, just cause Animoto doesn't let you own the video. Needless to say I violated several copyright laws, so I decided to play it safe then sorry and use some copyright free music.
Hope you all will enjoy the video as much as I will enjoy your all's vote.
The link is now under this post, its where it says I last edited it. Forum rules say I have to have at least 8 posts before I can post a link. So please do this for me, and just copy and paste the link into your address bar.
What does this have to do with the Captivate?
No idea, but ud (University of Dayton) is pretty expensive. I live just about 2 minutes from it. Without them and Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton would be dead. But ya, what's it gotta do with the captivate?
You are definitely not following forum rules by posting this. No report button from the xda app but it should get locked/deleted. Good luck with school but this is not the proper forum.
This is my Captivate. There are many like it but this one is mine

I stumbled on this review while looking for info on new ROM's. It paints a decent picture of my ugly but hardy tablet. If I ever sell it, this article would be a good link to help bump up the price . It's a half decent read and at least half-way accurate. Check it out: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/8017833/viewssonic_g_tablet_the_best_android.html?cat=15

Ugly? I wouldn't say the thing is ugly.
The article's author is Chris Matier. The OP is 'matguard'. Coincidence? Perhaps. Still, good article.
Hmmmm, who is this really?
Anyways, very good review. It kind of explains why I still kept and use it after going out and buying an Ipad 2, and I am still running it stock.
The Ipad was necessary for the very good business apps I needed and really like and use. But other than being an owner of Ipods I have never been a user of Apple. Right off the bat, the closed society and structure grates me more than I thought it would. I could never go with their desktops or laptops.
By the way, I had used two credit cards on the Itunes store and both had the numbers lifted with attempted big purchases from the thief. Now only use Itunes gift cards but WTF? So much for Apple's security. They just go into denial mode when anyone complains or points out defects.
This review pretty much states my reasons for having the tab and loving it also. I jumped on it during a woot sale. Tried to go unrooted for a bit, but the rooting was easy, the roms are fun. I enjoy my tablet greatly.
This review is spot on. Explains all reasons I like and dislike my tablet. XDA is a necessity for this tablet to shine.

Wow. What a year.
We still have a month left in 2012, but one thing is certain: Quite a lot happened in the world of mobile development in 2012.

My favorite story of the year: BotBrew. http://www.xda-developers.com/search/botbrew
One of my favorite videos this year was the unboxing of the Auraslate by Adam Outler. I thoroughly enjoy watching his videos.
Once I go through everything tomorrow I will add more.

nice thread
I always liked XDA's Nexus 7 "Unboxing." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNWRto0Vf0M
Hello!
I loved all articles in 2012 and I was reading them while having fun, so it was very good. For videos, I particularly liked the XDA Unboxings, and the unboxing of the SGS3 was hilarious when Jordan "fainted" when he saw his device was taken apart.
So yeah, a great year at XDA, wish you another like this!!!!!!
I'm a big fan of Azrienoch's This Is Why We Root video. It really sheds some light on the possibilities after rooting your device, as well as providing information as to why someone would want to. I'm an advocate of being able to have total control over a phone that you've paid good money for, and now I have a resource to direct my friends to whenever I hear the question "What's so good about rooting your phone?".
The story of the HD2 getting a WP8 port
cracking the gsIII bootloader on verizon
I like XDA unboxing videos.
My favorite is Verizon's Samsung Galaxy S3 unboxing
azrienoch's video on Why XDA-Developers.com Roots Android(http://www.xda-developers.com/android/this-is-why-xda-developers-com-roots-android-xda-developer-tv/)
is my favorite
After lurking for a number of months this is the first subject that has compelled my procrastinating fingers to register.
Best video all categories - Azrienoch "This Is Why XDA-Developers.com Roots Android"
The others are difficult to choose from as they're all great and I feel it is almost a betrayal to say that I've preferred one more than another thus I'm just going to give a special mention for TK who has improved exponentially with every video made.
Big thanks to all for your efforts.
Good

mine was the news that sammy will update s advance with JB
I have brand new unopened olloclip lens for the GS5. The embargo on this was lifted just yesterday, so I assume it's not for sale yet. Though I could be wrong. Not sure if you guys are familiar with the olloclip, but it's fairly popular in the iPhone community. If you're not familiar with it here's a YouTube video:

I want to give someone in the XDA community a chance to use it. It retails for $69.99, but I'd rather just give it away as long as you don't mind paying for the shipping (I'm located in Los Angeles). I actually attend CSUN, so if one of you is a fellow Matador then that'll make it easier on me to give it away.
I'd really like it to go to someone who often takes pictures and would use it. All I ask for in return is just a brief review and what you thought of it. Just comment below as to why you want it, and what you'd use it for and I'll DM one of you.
Here's a pic of it: http://imgur.com/TXZmU4o
I don't work for olloclip nor am I affiliated with them, but if this violates XDA rules in any way then I apologize and feel free to delete if you're a MOD.

I've never seen that design before. Quite original I must say! Paired with the S5's camera sensor, it must be quite fun to take pictures with it! Seems a fun thing to try! I often use my D90 Nikon camera for daily pictures, but I've got my new S5 some days ago and the camera is pretty impressive!
Hey!
I would love to try out this lense for you mackster248. I love taking photos daily with both my mates and family just to keep memories that i can look back on. I also love going around and getting many scenic shots of places i travel in Australia when camping with my family and even school. I would definitely love trying the lense out for you and giving you a review on how good, or bad it may be.
I have actually been wanting to purchase a fish eye camera lense for quite a while now but have not gotten around to it. Hence me responding to your post here as it seems like a great opportunity for me. The other features on these lenses seem actually pretty cool and handy and would enhance my photos going by what the youtube video expresses.
Only problem is if you do want to send the lense to me, i live in Australia and i am not sure you would be willing to post here, if so that would be tremendous.
looking forward to hearing back from you. :good:

Wouldn't mind trying it out. However, I use a lifeproof case. So I don't think it would work too well I really wish someone would make one for phones with cases on it. Everyone says "just buy/use a camera" well sometimes you don't have the money or the camera with you. I always have my phone with me and can always leave the lenses in my day pack when hiking or in my car when driving.
Hey there!
I would LOVE to try this lens out if you haven't already found an acceptable candidate. I am currently taking a photography course at Emory University in Atlanta, GA so this would help me add a cool dynamic to my portfolio. I wouldn't mind paying for shipping or writing a review either! Thanks
Here in this Google+ Album you can see a few pictures made with this lense(s) on the Samsung Galaxy S5:

Has anyone tried the Moment Lens on the S5? I am considering getting one for my N5 but would like to know how it performs on larger sensors (=future proofing)

My brother made a Note 5 Rap Review. The S7 and S7 edge are stunning devices, although 6 months in the Note 5 is still a beast. Enjoy! It is informative as well as entertaining. Trust. https://youtu.be/p6QcJkK8d88

Would be nice if it was shorter for a commercial he hit all the selling points of the phone ??
Watched it, two super thumbs up. Also appreciated the way he displayed the some of the note5's nicest features as well. All around super nice.
