what's there to kid about. many phones can connect to the wii mote. search the market. there are a few app that accomplish syncing a wiimote to android. unfortunately the wii mote is not compatible with the Samsung bt3.0 stack. cm7 is bt2.1 and fixes that problem.

No joke...thanks for responding before doing a basic Google or market search...its working on my atrix but the infuse has a much better screen and HDMI mirror function

umm wii mote + hdmi+ smartphone + sega emulator = portable entertainment and a way to make friends envious. it is a common request actually and its great for travel and parties (my friends are geeks-hence me frequently visiting a cell phone forum) and it is great especially if you have kids or a nephew (I have 2 nephews)
This sounds awesome. Any other non-conventional devices connect to the phone?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
well the wii mote doesn't work on the infuse(works on most other androids) , but you can use a standard mouse and keyboard to game and navigate the ui. there are some game controlers that work but I can't remember which ones. search the sgs sections if you are interested.
Awesome, keyboard/mouse would come in handy considering these come with HDMI adapters, tomorrow will be a fun day. Lol

Anyone know of a way to change the Bluetooth stack manually because I had it working on cm7 captivate........
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
CM7 uses "googles bluetooth stack which is why it works. This might point someone in the right direction as I have no idea on how to change it.
On all non AOSP kernels the "Bluez" Stack has to be cooked into it. It's tougher than..., well I don't want to mention it.... and easier done with CM which is based off of AOSP.
Same with Sense roms as well, which is why I had such a hard time bouncing between AOSP and sense roms when I had my N1.....
Plus with our HDMI output, wouldn't it be just as easy to use the onscreen buttons on the phone even though there will be an overlay on the main screen...?
Well I got it to connect to my Infuse (and Touchpad). All the keystrokes are detected. Only problem is that they don't translate in N64oid or Tiger Snes--as if they aren't working.
Anybody find a workaround?

Most emus with external controller support have the option to disable the controller overlay. Doesn't do you any good to not have the overlay without external input though, but I have tested this via HDMI output on the *-oid emus
havent tried wii mote, but i have successfully connected a ps3 controller & used it with psx4droid & snesoid

You know you've wanted to play some games on an emulator on your phone. Old classics from the NES/SNES/GameBoy era.
Here's what I've tried so far (all under CM7):
Using my wiimote + nunchuck:
Download BluezIME-v1.14-Wiimote.apk (or the latest version that ends with Wiimote) from http://code.google.com/p/android-bluez-ime/downloads/list
Install it, and select Bluez IME as your input method. (Settings > Language and Keyboard)
Put your Wiimote into discoverable mode by pressing and holding 1 + 2 until the 4 indicator lights start flashing
After a few moments, BluezIME will recognize your Wiimote and list it
Select the Wiimote
Now you can use your Wiimote as a virtual keyboard!
Go into your emulator and select keyboard as input method, and configure the keys to your liking.
So far I've only tried SNESDroid as an emulator, but this should work with ANYTHING that accepts keyboard input, including your SMS app, web browser, etc. It's mapping your Wiimote keys to keys on a virtual keyboard on your phone.
Enjoy!
I'm big on emulators. I actually have quite the collection of real Sega, NES, and SNES cartridges. I wish VB supported the bluetooth drivers needed to use controller connectivity. I love having SNESDroid. I use my PS3 controller as an SNES controller for my emulator on my laptop. With CM9 about to drop, I will definately be making the switch, and hopefully CM9 will support the bluetooth drivers needed.
I would love to play someone in some Killer Instinct, or something else if they want to play on a PC emulator. All you need is ZSNES v1.42, the ROM, and Hamachi. Works perfect. I have a killer instinct tourney server on Hamachi.

As for emulating on phones, The app fb recommended doesn't have Sixaxis support yet, so I use Sixaxis Controller app. On the ICS roms, when you use that app, it makes the emulator a little laggy at times, like during high combos on KI.
wicked4u2c has posted a video on how to set up emulators on Android devices. He covers downloading the emulators/games, setting up wireless controllers, and connecting your device to your TV. If you get the chance, watch some more of his videos, they're excellent and cover many different Android related topics!
Also, while the free emulators are decent enough, I personally use Robert Broglia's emulators. They do cost a few bucks for each one, but his emulators are extremely accurate and very customizable. The ones I use (MD.emu, NES,emu, GBA.emu) run great on the Galaxy S 4G with only minor slowdowns here and there.

@ Cooptx- I read something about Samsung have f'ed something on our phones....something to do with L2cap connectivity.
As fb said he got it working, but he was on an MTD rom. I'm trying to get it on BML.
Look up Phonejoy. I've read about success stories with our device, I just can't figure out where to buy. The website is in between repairs.
BML is GB roms right? I am on MTD, so I should be fine.
Sent from my Xoom using xda app-developers app
Yeah mtd works fine with Wiimotes but not so great with tv out
bml is the opposite. Can't win.
Ultragen has tv out with no green bar in landscape. It seemed to be a pretty solid rom too. I just like GB better. Seems to be snappier for me. My quad scores are double on GB also. I think this phonejoy thing is gonna be the best bet for our phones on GB. However, the website seems to be out of stock.

Hey guys!
I am a massive android fan and i have done all sorts with my Samsung Galaxy S! But I am dissapointed
that the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 doesnt have much support :/ so i want to know what cool things i can do with it!
What i have done is rooted it and ran apex launcher on it but thats as far as ive gone. Until stable cm 10.1 comes out i wont be installing
Custom roms i just wanf to know cool thing i can do with this awesome device!
Eg.
Custom ui buttons (back, home, task manager and screenshot)
Custom multitasking apps.
Etc!!!
Thanks in advance
(Links if applicable would be appreciated
cm10.1 is stable.
you have custom rom fully working based on samsung firmware
aokp is stable
paranoid is stable
baked is stable,
sure it's not that much but enough to have fun
I am very aware of that . I'm just a big fan of CyanogenMod and I want the first ROM on my tab to be the official stable version of cm 10.1

the coolest thing about the galaxy is its IR (infrared). If you go CyanogenMod, which im also a huge fan of, you'll lose this option (most roms out there lack of these function as i learned that IR drivers from samsung are closed source.

The IR is fairly useless. I programmed it to work my tv, but the peel app gave me hardly any buttons, and since I use my tv remote to control xbmc through cec it was pretty useless. It also couldn't control my sound bar properly. The only other app I found that uses the IR blaster is touchsquid which is very over priced. If your home theater is more complicated than a tv and cable box its pointless. Not to mention I can use a remote without looking at it since I can feel buttons. The peel app is more about being a program guide than a useful remote. While I think the IR is a neat feature to have, it's not even close to being taken advantage of.

I love Peel app remote control and find it really useful since I have mutliple TVs and multiple houses, and also Viggle which gives you prizes for watching TV. I also have the Vulkano streaming device so I can watch my cable shows anywhere or watch 2 or more sporting events at once.
You could use it to controle your pc with remote desktop app

there is so much you can do...
First thing, I hope you upgraded to JB before rooting your tablet or you will have to flash CyanogenMod 10.1 to upgrade to JB. I flashed CM 10.1 and I love the upgrade to android 4.2.1
As far as cool things...
1. Install Linux...
2. Install droid mote server and droid mote client on your phone.
3. Install team viewer to control your computers remotely
4. Upgrade with custom ROMs
5. Its all about apps with android...I love playing games like dead trigger or shadow gun on my tablet and using droid mote client on my phone as a joystick/controller.
6. Grab custom apk files from the internet like map for android.
Most of these ideas have already been mentioned I just thought I'd elaborate more...
Hi, I got the VBA emulator on my mac. I got a bunch of Roms off of coolrom.com and these Roms work great on my phone but when I open them on the VBA they are tiny , you can not enlarge them, also there a no controls on how to operate. So what I'm asking is where can I get good Roms and how do I use the controls.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
If you're having that much trouble with the emulator, try another one
I have VBA on Windows - it lets me re-size and you can check out what the default controls are through the menu.
If it works differently on a Mac, perhaps as suggested try another one.
OK I'll try that thx but any suggested emulators

New thread further down the list! SWEET!
I got this tablet for school, trying to go paperless. I came from TF-101, now my wife's, so I know how things work. My question is, what is the best most stable Rom for this device? I like customizable roms but stability is a must. Any ideas out there?
I tired Omega but had problems connecting to my schools wifi, we have to use a third party app to connect, went back to stock and no problems.
Also, whats the best keyboard and word document for this bad [email protected]# machine?
pbaldw10
Unfortunately there is no specific one rom.. U will have to try a few roms and see what fits the best.
Omega rom has been the best for me, but very slow with updates..
Keyboard - best is the default one but lacks spell check.( there is a mod available in this forum) . I use swiftkey for typing and default for handwriting..
Word document -i like officesuite pro but Many like polaris , etc are good too

Im starting to think just leave well enough alone. I love it so far and each day I find something new. Tried Omega and collection v6. Stock seems to be the best so far.
Any ideas on dock able keyboards and can I use a mouse with this. Im thinking full laptop replacement.
S- pen is nice, but sometimes you just have to type.
Ps
Odin is awesome, its like flahing roms and restoring is completely encouraged.
A word app you might want to give a try is CloudOn, a free app that is as close as makes no difference a full MS word and Excel for your tablet. It's not perfect and it lags a bit (at least here in Europe, maybe it's because it's webbased and the servers are in the US) but it has the advantages that all equations, tables, pi pictures, figures and so on you have in your document is displayed properly.

try redemption rom :good:
First off congratulations on the note 10.1 !. Personally I would stick with stock, maybe root it, debloat it and enjoy. There are a lot of great roms out there but there are a lot that suffer from weird quirks and glitches, Also I would advise against using any custom kernels or overclocking as they have a tenancy of causing crashes in my experience

I'll second CloudOn, and also second the lagging. If you need to do some serious work in Excel, I don't thing it can be beat. Else you can usually find me in Google docs for first stays of papers, notes and things like that.
As for keyboards, I picked up a Microsoft wedge bluetooth keyboard and couldn't be happier. I found a new in box item on eBay for $45 shipped, in stores I think they are closer to the 60-70 range.

Nothing against any developer, but without source code hard to get perfect results. Most very good considering.

+1 to Papyrus.
As I just got this tablet a few days ago, still undecided whether I want to keep it or not, the smaller development kinda surprised me.
If you're using it to replace paper for school, you're best off with a rooted stock rom so you can do multiwindow everything but keep everything stable. Also, lecture notes + dropbox => golden notes.

You missed my first post, "the best rom is already on it".
Correct. The standard firmware is very stable.
I use lecturenotes to take handwritten notes it also allows you (with the extra plugins) to record the audio while you make your notes. You can even record the audio plus a video of the notes so you can play it back after.
Another small recommendation, if you like mind maps simpleminds is great.
