heeeeelpppp - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

i was doing a restore on my phone, i didnt notice my wall charger wasnt plugged in and battery died during restore now phone wont turn on and it seems like battery isnt charging . please help does anybody have a solution for this

Pull battery
Wait 30s
Install battery (don't turn phone on)
Wait 30s
Plug charger into device and wall. (leaving phone off)
You should see the green Battery on your screen.
Wait a while for it to charge up.
If device is charged but not operating properly, enter into Recovery and flash your Nandroid backup.

thank you im trying it now. im at the step where i plugged it in but i didnt see the green battery on phone. its still plugged in now

May take a minute or so.
Also, make sure your charger and usb cord are operational

i just saw the circle like trying to load when i plugged it in but then just a black screen

If you've waited a few minutes, and still no green Battery,
Follow the above steps again regarding battery pull, etc.
Then leave plugged in, and enter into Recovery.
Hold 3 buttons at the same time.
Power, Home and
Volume Up I believe.
Flash your Nandroid.
Let me know.

i tried it twice but no green battery. it seems like is going to load the green battery but then just goes black screen

Follow the Recovery steps I outlined above.
Let me know.

ok thank is working now thanks alot man

Glad you got it working
Did it just take a few minutes for the green Battery icon to display, as the battery was depleted.

actually green battery never appeared but. if i tried to turn on the phone just with power button wasnt working. but when i did the 3 buttons it work. thanks

So you had to enter into Recovery mode?
If yes, likely because the Restore was interrupted, which borked the device.

yes i had to do that

Sounds good

Motorola XT 720 Start up problems

Why won't my XT720 start up?
When it is connected to my charger, the four action keys light up. Despite leaving it to charge overnight, it appears that the battery isn't charging. The phone won't start while it is charging, neither when connected to the mains or to my car power supply.
I bought a new battery without any improvement.
When I access the bootloader screen it says there is too little power in the battery to program the phone.
The phone is not recognised by my computer when connected.
The phone is running Froyo 2.2. with Dexter rom.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions......apart from binning the phone!
Thanks!
I think the phone likes to selfboot with too little charge. See if you can shut it down cleanly so it won't autoboot. It's annoying but you may have to watch it very carefully to catch it when it's trying to boot because it will drain itself back to death very quickly.

Hi Oakham, do you have any update to your case? I have the same problem now.
Yesterday, I noticed the battery bar went down to orange region (about 30%?). I plugged it to the wall for about an hour (the charging symbol showed up). Later I found out that the battery bar did not move (still stuck at orange region). Later the night, I tried to charge again (the bar was red at about 15% or less). The charging symbol showed up. Later I checked, the battery bar did not improve but declined. The phone eventually went out of battery and turned itself off.
I tried to continue to charge using both the wall outlet and PC USB. No luck. I could not even power up the phone now. Did you manage to resolve your case? Anyone got the same problem and found the solution?
I thought about buying a new battery to try, but then I saw your post, so I hesitated.
Thanks.

I've had this problem. Watching the phone closely while charging and pulling the battery whenever it starts to boot works. After about the fourth time doing this I got a battery charger from amazon for ~$5 because it's gently loving annoying.

Thanks for your advice.
So when you first bumped into this problem, how did you get it back to boot up?
I followed your advice to watch it while it's charging. When I saw the motorola logo showed up, I pulled the battery. Then I plugged it back and let it charged for some more time. Then I tried to power up the phone. The motorola logo came on and then the big battery symbol came on saying it's 100% full (but i knew it's not). Later, those 4 soft touch button lid on. This cycle repeated. And I'm clueless.
Please let me know the steps you took to recover your phone.
Thanks.

Once you get into the system use 'power off' from the menu. It won't autoboot then and you can leave it in the wall overnight. I think. A voodoo doll may work, too. It can be really frustrating, but I've been able to get out of it every time so far. Like I said, I got sick of this game and found a battery charger for pretty cheap.

Try deleting batterystats.bin and doing what M said.. can you get to open recovery and charge from there?
I also had the 'M' logo screen, stuck on-screen when the charger was connected. There is a post which suggests, for this, 'Pull battery.2) Insert battery and hit power button;3) As soon as you hit the power button, hold the volume up button down until the unboxing logo comes up.'
As my phone is still under warranty, I sent it back to see if there is a physical problem. I'll try the above suggested solution when my phone comes back from 'Motorola', whether or not it is repaired by them! I've also bought a battery charger for the phone's BP6X battery from e-Bay (£9.50, including another battery.)At least I will then know that a battery is fully charged before I try fixes.
Thanks for the other posts/replies!

In my experience OR drains faster than it can charge.

Damn!
I had about the same. Battery got drained down from 80% to 5%. Then the screen for "please plug in for charging" appeared. Some moments later the phone went dark and now I can't get it to work again. It doesn't react on the power button. Even when plugged in the charging-symbol doesn't appear. I can't turn it on. Sucks!
Any ideas?
My phone has been repaired by Motorola, under warranty, and returned after four days. Accompanying report is brief: 'Software update and screening'. Seems to be working fine.......just like a brand new phone!
This morning i find myself in the same situation. My phone have the soft keys iluminated but it didint work.OMG... what happend durring the night. So i tried to boot the phone but nothing happend, and after reading tje post on the problem i have tried to remove the battery and put`it back, tryed anothe reboot, and holdind the buttons power+vol up. Nothing worked. But when i have tried the combination power + vol up + cammera shutter and plugged the cable. at first nothing happend. but after i have relesed the buttons the logo apeared and started charging. after that i powerd on my phone normaly
My phone does that everytime it charging and I remove the plug when it's in sleep mode. I have to remove the battery and it's power on normally.

[Q] G2x stuck after battery died.

I was using CM7 build #19, my phone said it had 53 percent batter life left but suddenly died (i assume broken battery driver). My phone wont charge the battery now so i can't to a restore from my backup, and all my phone shoes is the empty battery symbol when plugged in, its been plugged in for over an hour and still shows this. Any ideas how to fix this?
Did you try pulling the battery out then putting it back in? When the phone experiences the "sleep of death" it wont turn on or charge until you pull the battery.

Yep i have tried it many times, if i take the battery in, hold the power and volume down button then plug the phone it, it will show the lg logo for a second then turn off again. I only saw the low battery symbol once too

sweet that did end up fixing it, i had to take the battery in it, hold the two buttons and plug the phone in, once the lg flashed on the screen i had to put the battery in it then and then it worked!
Many thanks! I encountered the same problem while my battery was at 90%. I too was on a CM7 nightly, not sure if it as 19 or not. The phone died for no apparent reason and would not boot back up. I just got the dead battery symbol when I held down the power button. Simply removing the battery and putting it back in did not help either. I had to follow these steps to make it work, which I derived from the suggestions above:
1. Unplug phone from charger
2. Remove battery
3. Insert charger
4. Hold down both the Power+Vol Down buttons
5. Boot into Clockwork
6. Insert Battery, while still plugged in
7. Perform a restart from Clockwork
It booted up fine after this point, and showed that I had 90% battery still. Several other combinations of these steps did not work for me.

[Q] Let battery die after flashing new rom, now it wont charge

Ok guys, I'm in a predicament, I flashed the latest AOKP build 3 (clean flash) flashed IMOv.16 cache/dalvik/permissions and everything worked great. This was around 2pm. I spent the rest of the day just messing around with settings getting it how I liked it. even after several reboots. Now my battery dies around 11:45pm so I plug it up and it vibrates once, the charge screen shows for a second but the charging icon doesnt spin and then cuts off. tried it for about 30 minutes in the wall, 30 minutes from usb from computer, now its been in the wall for about an hour, if I unplug and plug it the phone does nothing, but if I pull the battery put it back in and plug it up to either power source the charge screen shows for about a second and then cuts off, but nothing happens after that any suggestions? has this happened to anyone else? what should I do?
Ok im not sure why that happened, but I fixed it. I pulled the battery, put it back in and instantly help VOL down + Home + Power and I got it tothe screen before Odin. So I was going to flash stock, but I figured if i can get into Odin I can get into recovery so I pressed down to restart phone instead of up to enter odin mode and it restarted and booted up, with a significant charge on it! Phew thought I had done something bad! :victory: My blood pressure is returning to normal now, but why did that happen in the first place? Will it happen again if my battery dies?

HELP!!! Battery died yesterday and phone won't turn backon!

Last night I ran my battery down to the point where it said Powering Off or whatever. I charged it all night and nothing. When I plug it in, sometimes it has a red LED in the upper left for a econd or two, then does one vibrate, then becomes completely unresponsive.
I've tried a battery pull and hooking it up that way. Same thing - red LED, one vibrate, then nothing. Some times when it is plugged in, it will show a battery picture with no juice for just a second then it all goes blank again.
I am running AOKP build 4 with Slim Kernel.
HELP!!!!!!!!!
I would try another battery, sounds like the one that you have us showing up as dead even after charging overnight.

Just unplug the phone... pull the battery... put the battery back in and WITHOUT plugging the phone in turn the phone back on (may have to hold the power button for a little while).
Strange plugging in the phone without a battery should bring up the charging screen with a question mark in it I think
So the problem has been remedied, though I would like a little input to better document this problem and solution...
I took the battery out, plugged the phone in, then popped the battery in. Really quickly, I got it to enter the weird screen where it is an exclamation point in a yield sign (I forget what combination of buttons I pushed to get here). It said Volume up to continue or Volume down to do something else. This is where it was fuzzy because I was freaking out about having to buy another phone.
Anyways, I hit the volume button that was supposed to reboot and it went through the boot sequence and showed me charging at 98%. This is strange because it was plugged in all night but non-responsive - not power, no heat, no nothing.
So long story short, if running this ROM/Kernel combo - DO NOT LET THIS THING GO TO 0%!!!
And if anyone can tell me what combo I pressed to enter that screen, it would be very helpful. Thanks guys!
The screen you got to is called Download Mode..
Download Mode - This is a setting in which you will put your phone when using Odin. There are other ways, but most people will reach download mode by powering down, removing the battery, and holding volume down while plugging the factory usb cord into the computer and phone. Odin can only communicate properly with your phone if the phone is in download mode.
For future reference you have to
1. hold volume down + power + home button
2. Per on screen instructions, press volume down to reboot/restart device.
This is a documented problem and one that has been posted about numerous times, glad you figured it out. Also, this will always fix the problem so you should not worry if the phone running this ROM/Kernel combo runs down to 0%.
too bad samsung doesn't have a genius bar.....lol

Is my Nexus5 dead or only its battery?

Howdy!
My phone doesn't work anymore, and I try to assess what's going on. I searched before posting, and I decided to post here because I found mixed answers.
Context:
I bought my phone in January 2014. I took extra care of it, it has never fallen on the ground from high, no scratch, nothing. Regarding the battery, I tried as much as possible to charge when it was close to 0%, I wasn't a heavy user of my phone, and I was turning off a lot of things so that the battery would not deplete quickly (Wifi, localisation, Bluetooth, auto-typing, et cetera...).
However, recently (the last month), I was feeling the battery was weak, depleting more quickly than before. I also felt the phone was warmer than usual. Sometimes the phone would turn off suddenly when I was short on battery (under 15%) and using a "heavy" feature (photography with flash, video game).
A week ago, the phone suddenly turned off, never to turn on again. The phone died. I was just typing a message, the phone was charging and the battery was around 60%. I was surprised.
As of today, the phone doesn't turn on. Plugged on a wall outlet or on the USB port of my computer is the same.
I tried many combination of buttons to fastboot, reboot, reset, or whatever, nothing sparked any life in my phone. (I tried holding power key for 30s+, 15s+ ; I tried holding power key + volume up for 15s+ ; power key + volume down ; power key both volume ; in fact whatever combination I could read here on XDA forums, on Reddit, on Google Forums...).
My first insight was: it's just the battery. I can buy one off the internet, and voilà!
However, when I plug the Nexus 5 on my computer via USB, the computer reacts with the sounds when you connect something. Is it just the battery then?
At first, it was saying: "QHS_USB BULK", and the computer was trying to install whatever to make that peripheral work.
When it was done, it read "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM4) has been correctly installed.
Hum, okay.
Still, nothing shows in the peripheral.
I continue to hear the plug in plug out sound when I... plug in and out my phone in the computer, but that's the only thing.
With all that, I can't really tell if all the phone is dead, something grilled inside or I don't know what; or if it's just the battery that is dead and the phone is unreachable and unrecognizable when "there is no battery" in it.
I'm not sure if I shall invest money into buying a new battery.
Do you guys can light my lantern on that matter?
I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Cheerio!
If I may just address a little bump on this very subject of particular interest to myself :3
Cheerio!
Any insights on this? mine´s doing the same. Doesn´t turn on or go into bootloader, when i connect to charge it red light blinks for like 10 sec and then goes off. Nothing happens after hours of charge.
Did you try replacing the battery as you mention on the post?
Sorry, but have to say this with caps: BLINKING RED NOTIFICATION LED MEANS ITS DEAD BATTERY. Can't be 100% sure, but usually it means that the phone doesn't have enough power to boot up. Mine did this when it drained to the absolute 0%
edit: There can be other problems with power going to phone, but if you are lucky its just the battery.
So i changed the battery. When i plugged it to charge no red lights came on, just the typical white battery with the light bolt appeared for a few seconds, after that it went on with screen off (or at least i thought it did). After 3 h of uninterrupted power charge i went to turn it on. Nothing happened. Can´t turn it on or go into bootloader.
Nothing happens on my pc when i plug it. No sound and nothing on Device manager (no drivers for nexus 5 installed, don´t know if that matters for windows to recognize it as any device even if its not as android device).
Edit: yeah, i got enlightened and literally unplugged the battery and plugged it back in and it worked like charm. I get stuck on the intro animation but i can get into bootloader and recovery just fine. Just gonna install those drivers and flash something. right? Thanks to everyone that read and even more to those who replied!

Yeah, search from youtube how to flash factory image nexus 5. It should make it work. And try to find video with using adb instead of toolkit, adb is way more stable/trustable. (ADB is the android debug bridge, it may look like very hard and confusing but in the end its just typing 1 command and it flashes everything needed) If you need help in flashing the image, just ask!
Try this, it installs only tools needed for adb (also drivers) http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/tool-platform-tools-adb-fasbootdrivers-t3061441
Edit: This should work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ka5dnPghzI
