Is having your CId set as 111111111 a good or bad thing? Does the CID have to do with caller ID or something else?
No it's not a bad thing and no... You can change your cid back to stock if you want after you s off
It has bricked many phones. Very dangerous!

That's incorrect. It's known as supercid. You need it to get s-off.

I'm old school so I changed my cid from 11111111 to !!!!!!!!. I've heard this makes your phone brick-proof.
The CID is not the telephone number, it is a computer code that is used in tandem with a modem script. A modem script is a file that is used to connect to the cell tower. It is how they reverse look up your number by a unique identifier assigned to the phone. When you s-off you remove the "password" to the device to gain a true root. Until you s-off you only have temporary root.

I don't work for HTC so I can't tell you. Are you paying for service? Or using your warranty? If you're trying to use warranty, it was voided the second the BL was unlocked. You may luck out and they might not check or see it. What's the worst that could happen? They send it back and say they can't service it?
If you bought it from AT&T, return it to AT&T. There have been a bunch of reports by folks on here that have had warranty honored by AT&T even though the bootloader is RELOCKED. And haven't seen any reports of AT&T doing otherwise.

It will always only say RELOCKED. Only way for it to say LOCKED is if the bootloader was never unlocked. Some think the flag can be changed to LOCKED if we get S-Off. RUU will only remove the TAMPERED tag. It will not make it back to LOCKED.

okay.. so lets just hope that someone will make s-off happen for our device
Maybe start with supercid first
i understood that we need to get supercid before we can get s-off?
So i think we have to start dig around mmcblks with a hex editor to achive that.
i did a little search and i think it could be somewhere in /misc, but don't let my n00biness guide you wrong. they have it in S4 on mmcblk04. i did same mod to my HOSs3 but cid didn't change so the S4-method doesn't work . Does anyone have any knowledge about the whereabouts of the cid?
yes, superCID is starting point for getting s-off

In fact, with this method cid will change. But spl will re-write it back at next boot. So it is not mmcblk0p4.

Just sitting there and doing nothing won't do anything. If you have basic knowledge of the Android/HTC filesystem and some adb commands you can try different things if they work. I'm searching on the internet how other HTC devices got supercid and I try the same thing on the One S. But it's not working out well because of the r/w bug on Trickdroid 6.

Hi,
I've got SuperCID and now I wonder if there's a way to determine what carrier the device is.
This is in order to know which RUU I should install.
Code:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
EVITA PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
CID-22222222
HBOOT-1.11.0000
RADIO-0.18a.32.09.01_2
OpenDSP-v28.1.0.32.0504
eMMC-boot

There is no carrier logo. Just htc and beatsaudio. It was purchased in Canada. I guess that I should just leave it.
Or is there some way of knowing what my CID was before I changed it... Is it stored in some other place? Is it stored in some app that I have a backup of? Is it stored in some place by some procedure that I may have run in the past?
Can HTC tell from the IMEI, perhaps? Or other details? From the baseband?

typically SuperCID changes the CID in /dev/block/mmcblk0p4 or /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 It's possible that it's still within one of those files if you pull them both and have a look with a hex editor. I think it's stored in another file too.. maybe mmcblk0p6?
I don't know if HTC can tell from the IMEI but they might.
Search in the forum the radio and hboot doesn't seem to me like official AT&T it looks like telus or rogers I'm almost sure that from that information (hboot and radio) u can know the last ruu that had been run on the phone therefore the company of it. Imei it's a good one too but instead of HTC try calling different companies. Carriers need imei don't think HTC does so why keep them. Good luck
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
If all that was done is supercid and no changing of firmware files, this phones hboot/radio/dsp matches Telus 1.91.661.4.
Curious, say he had the Rog111, could he change it to Tel111 and then RUU with a Telus rom?

Changing ROGER001 to TELUS001 should be enough also those 2 devices share the same MID PJ8310000 which would also help to get past checks.
Devices from other regions with different MID's may fail if you only changed the CID.
I see, sounds doable.
I may do this with my other One XL.

Most would just supercid and s-off. Then any RUU from any region will typically work.
I don't plan on re-locking bootloader, so I was wondering if changing my CID back to stock would cause any problems. Didn't think it would but I thought I should ask around. Also, AT&T's CID is CWS__001, right?
Thanks
