[Q] verizon galaxy sIII flashed to revol wireless help? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

First off i want to thank you guys for all the help i've received for my various phones over the years, usually there is a thead for anything i need but i cant find anything on revol wireless.
I recently flashed my 2 S3's from verizon to revol(which i believe is like cricket?) my phone was rooted stock 4.1.1 vrblk3 my girl's phone was not rooted. my phone was done first, at revol the used houdinisoft to flash, passed first time no problems, make calls have internet and they put a houdinimms app on for picture msg. it didn't seem to work so i removed it but now mms doesn't seem like it wants to work most of the time, but my phone (mostly) works...
After using the service for a few days and seeing coverage was ok we decided to flash her phone went to the store and there was a different person there(big shock, I know)but she didnt really know what she was doing i suspect, anyway she tried and tried and kept getting fail after fail, called tech support after an hour and a half my daughter was restless and hungry and we had other errands to run so we left the phone and came back later. when we got back she said she got it, and just had to do a system update to get the internet working, COOL! well another hour goes bye and she gives up and says i should come back monday when the manager is there... i was just wondering, is there a better way to flash to a different provider? i have ODIN im comfortable flashing roms been doing that for years! i know I need a good PRL list, but short of that im stuck any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Use caution flashing your i920 from Verizon using the samsung update

I have read a few articles/post about flashing samsungs new udate from their website for the i920. I think the only thing the update does is patch the radio(qualcomm) for people who have been getting dropped calls or not receiving calls from time to time. After reading about some phones being bricked during the update, I decided to go ahead and try it myself as i have been having some minor issues with not receiving some calls.
Sure enough, during the update process the upgrade froze while at 31% during the update. I let it set for about 30 minutes and nothing ever happened so I had no choice but to unplug the usb cable and try to do a hard reset. My phone was totally bricked and I had to get a replacement today. I even tried flashing a custom rom to try and recover it and no luck.
It turns out that the upgrade provided by samsung is not an official one approved by verizon according to the VZW tech in the store. When I took my phone in I told them that it had just froze over night while I was charging it and that's how it was when I woke up in the morning, becuase I did not know if they were going to try and screw me over or not.
So I highly recommend that you stay away from this update if you can. IMHO it is not worth the trouble. Just wait for verizon to release an update.
I am sure this is posted else where but I wanted to have this in the CDMA section so that other users could easily see it, and they do not have to go through the trouble I did today.
I had no problems flashing the update. However, I also had no trouble with dropped calls BEFORE flashing the update, but started having dropped calls after the update.
So unless you are already having issues which need a fix, I would have to agree with das, and say wait. There is the bricking risk, plus it may cause more issues than it solves.
samsung has temporarily pulled the update from their site. Maybe they are fixing it so it does not screw up your phone...LOL..I hope so becuase usually when my wife calls me she has to do it twice as the call is dropped before I can answer it or my phone some times does not ring at all. It's not a constant problem but it is annoying.
Agreed on issues w/ ck24.
The update damaged my first i920 during flashing. Used Vista prem 32-bit following Samsung's official PDF and no SD card in unit. Doing some searching on the net shows that even if you follow the detailed instructions from Samsung's PDF, it may stick the phone @ 31%,. While not technically bricked, you'll have to use Octans (not mini) and Shemmy's help on Modaco, to get it back to OEM ROM. This happened to my first Omnia II (i920), VZW promptly gave me a replacement by just telling them the unit stopped working (which it did, after getting stuck @ 31%).
I originally flashed the first unit due to that unit not sending texts if a user leaves my local VZW cell tower (say like if they are in another state or out several cities away). The update fixes issues w/ the Qualcomm radio (secondary PDF stated this on Samsung's site, before they took it down). VZW's techs are completely unaware of the issue apparently, as they show/feign ignorance when asked about the update and the issues w/ the i920. This is unnacceptable on Samsung's part for not having better quality assurance before releasing it, and on Verizon's part for not having informed techs. The failure rate for the Samsung update is so bad, that as stated earlier, they temporarily removed the update from their site, do a search for the i920 on their site and scroll down to "software" at the bottom, then on "Install Guide, Others" and you'll see it's "temporarily unavailable". I'd wait till it's posted on VZW's official site for the phone @ supportdotvzwdotcom/clc search for "Omnia II." Just like they did w/ the i910.
I have successfully used Wozzer's Stock ROM to flash back to the original ROM via OCTANS. Found on the Modaco site.

Good job man, this is exactly to what I was referring to. I'm unable to post links until the noob lock is off, but I was referring to a specific post on Modaco under the i8000/i920 section. In it, Wozzer had done all the hard work w/ the stock ROM, and Shemmy successfully tested it to revert an update damaged i920 back to stock w/ Wozzer's ROM. I too can attest to successfully using Octans (not the mini one) to bring the phone back w/ this ROM. As long as the phone turns on (even to that "connect to PC" error screen), it'll work.
Getting the radio properly fixed however, that's another story. Will still wait for VZW to post the official Samsung (fixed) update on their i920 support section. Hopefully then I can get my Qualcomm radio working fine on this (my 3rd, and not by my hand) Omnia II.

[Q] Really slow downloads on Evo, please help!

I have searched all over the internet for a solution to my slow download speeds on my rooted EVO & have found nothing. I've tried many things including data wipe/reset, changed HTTP PD proxy port to 0 & HTTP PD proxy address to 0.0.0.0 & other things that have been suggested. If I want to download a Rom it can take anywhere from an hour to four hours to do so! My sister also has a rooted EVO & she does NOT have the same problems I do with mine. Could it be something that I flashed or installed? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Also, my internet speed seems to be just fine.
I am having a similar issue. I get SUB 100k download speeds and 600+k upload speeds.
Tried the above mentioned 0.0.0.0 ... complete reset of the ##data#. Finally gave up, unrooted, called tech support and they had me ##data reset 3 times and was recommended that i take it into the store. took phone into sprint store and showed them. They performed ##data (again), told me they updated my PRL and my phone was fine. Walked out into parking lot, checked speed 18kbps!
1 week later, took phone back in, same issue, they reset and reinstalled the phone to factory via HTC software in store. Was assured it was working correctly. Used my girlfriends phone side by side with my own while tech observed. Youtube'd "Shrek", selected first video on both phones. Her's played flawlessly with about a 2 second buffer about half way through, at which point mine was at 8seconds in, and finally errored out. Tech told me it was because the sprint network is at capacity and should clear up when we can all get 4g. I asked why the difference between phones and he said because we have different numbers...
I am sick of it... but refuse to pay the deductible on the phone insurance (when i break it).
I will let you know of a solution if i find one.. but i have since re-rooted and and dinking with the issue right now...
BTW, since he didnt mention it.. i have tried several different radios.. all with the same results.
Thanks That would be great!
I have too tried switching between different radios & i get the same results.
Problem went away for about a day after flashing the latest MIUI rom but unfortunately i'm back to square 1.
Had my phone replaced after complaining to tech support on the phone. I explained that each time i called sprint, they said there is something wrong with my phone, I go into the sprint store for diagnostics, and they say nothing is wrong. New phone is working flawlessly.
try using another kernel. as you see here for my phone under the changelog (22 August 2011), there are network options that are affected by the kernel.
dont use that kernel of course. use a different kernel for your phone

[Q] I think my girlfriends phone is fried! Can't open serial(COM) port in Odin

First of all I'm a "noob" when it comes to the ins and outs of the whole mobile phone rooting idea and processes. My uncle got me on board with this and is currently 700mls away...
Back ground on the phone, its a samsung epic 4g and it was rooted, I hadnt added any roms onto the phone. My initial attempts to do so after driver downloads and youtube videos etc...I had a hiccup at one point and had to reset the phone back to factory using odin. Very helpful by the way, saved my backside. I was able to get the phone rooted again and recovered the rom that I had saved on my gf's phone. My last attempt at getting a rom on her phone via attempting to change her eco5 version to ext4(I believe thats what i needed to do in order to get the syndicate rom on there) failed miserably. Either I didnt follow the video correctly or there were some pre-reqs that I hadnt covered prior to my attempt.
Long story short the odin attempt was taking extremely long and my phone got disconnected in the loading process. Her phone was showing up this danger sign with a phone/exclamation mark/and a pda...bad stuff. It finally let me reset it and i had what seemed to be her old rom...but with NO SERVICE! How do I get service back to her phone or am I screwed?? Someone, anyone please help me, let me know that there is some sort of full factory reset or something!! please...until then, ill have to break the news to her. I have full insurance and looks like it might end up being used.
A desperate user---
Don't worry if its just not getting service then you can get the apn settings for your carrier and add them manually that's what i had to do once.

[Q] US Cellular SCH-950 I must be missing something here!

Okay, so first of all, yes, I am completely new to this. However I'm no idiot, I'm just more on the hardware side of computing. Anyways, I've searched the internet for well over twelve hours now trying to get a custom ROM (that I found here, Android Revolution HD 6.0) onto my Galaxy Note 2 (SCH-950). I live in the US and I have the 4G LTE version, N7105 I think... and I'm getting nowhere. I've downloaded the tool kit, Odin, probably reset my phone 40 times by now. No one else seems to be having this problem, at least not that I can find. So, really I just need like a direct instruction on how to root and flash a custom ROM onto this phone. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!
EDIT: (even though no ones responded yet) I tried a few different ROMs and it kept getting stuck at the "Samsung" screen. The final one I tried is Doedexed V1.2. It got to 20% and then restarted. It also looped up at "Samsung." So I flashed over a generic recovery backup I have for the SCH-950 and then suddenly everything looks different, as If Doedexed V1.2 were suddenly applied. Everything works fine... occasionally something is in a different language, but that's minor. I know it's still my voicemail lol. So... yeah... I could definitely use some info now lol

Needing help putting phone back to stock

I have a verizon branded s7 edge. I ran a combination file on it to try to get rid of FRP. Long story short on why is because my buddies wife ended up having a psychotic break and changed all of his passwords and accounts to his bills, started seeing things that weren't there, thought he was out cheating, and destroyed all his possessions. He tried to have her committed but since they weren't married and some stuff I don't know of she was never put in the hospital for treatment so he left her. Basically went crazy. So he had just bought the phone and after she changed all the account information and emails, the passwords were lost and the phone has been a paperweight. The phone is brand new and had only 2 weeks of use. End of backstory of phone.
I tried running a combination file on it and got it to boot up with that. For model number it says SM-G935A but shouldn't it be a V since it is verizon branded? I can't find a file to run in odin that works and get different errors with each firmware I try verizon and att.
Model is Samsung-SM-G935! [SS]
PDA is FA60_G935AUCU8ARJ2
Phone is G935AUCU8ARJ1
H/W is REV0.7
CAL.D is 2017.07.31
Android security patch January 1, 2016
Build # is MMB29M.FA60_G935AUCU8ARJ2
I have tried different versions of odin and tried the following firmware files
AP_G935VVRUACSH1_CL14274526_QB25694462_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar
AP_G935VVRU4CRE5_CL13527029_QB18290732_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar
and a few more but deleted them.
I am currently downloading 6.0.1+Marshmallow+S7+Edge+Firmware+Files and SM-G935V_1_20160804145414_ocj96ulu4y_fac.zip
to see if that helps. Did I use the wrong combination file and making the phone think it is att or is it really a G935A? I can download and give any information just might take a little bit to download. I even tried using Frija I believe it is called to get the firmware but go an error when updating the phone.
Am I doing something wrong or is the phone still a brick. If I don't get it working that is fine but I am interested in how this stuff works but there is so much information that it is a little overwhelming.
Edit: Got back to default firmware but still have frp enabled. That was a let down but at least I am not stuck in Combination.
