Is it possible to have the WP 8 keyboard on Samsung Omnia 7 with WP 7.8?
I like the emoticons section of the new OS keyboard.
It's possibly to have dictionary from WP8 but I think nobody needs as much this WP8 emoticons to bring them here.
So, Can I get the Arabic keyboard from the WP8 to WP7.8? That will solve lots of problems
Oh, check Bazaar or Marketplace for that.
I'm Polish so I only updated my dictionary with file from WP8, from about 3mb to ~15, so there is a little difference
Hmmmm, Thanks for your answer, but I need more than that!
We, as right to left and connected-letters language script, are suffering from the:
1- Font (words are in seperated left to right letters).
2- No dictionary for words suggestion and correcting.
AND THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN SOLVED IN THE WP8
So I wonder if we can export language packs from WP8 and inject them into WP7.8
Thanks

The program alters Spanish or German system keyboard into one of the supported languages (see the list), or extends English keyboard. That will allow you to write text in your language anywhere in Windows Phone 7.
Starting from version 3.0 the application registers the keyboards in the system. So they are available under their own language switch.

It's sad because the fonts apparently supports it. At least they support chinese as some of my contact have chinese name and they appear properly in the text editor.
What's really missing is the IME or a virtual keyboard

Not that sad, geez, the phone is a month old...

It's sad when a product is restricted to iso-latin. Even if the product was not intended for outside of the US market a good chunk of the population in the US speak and use a second language on a daily basis. Whether it's Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese, Russian or something else.
I18N is a pain, and managing different IME is another bigger one so I understand why it was postponed to a future date.
so no chance for arabic support till now
heeeeeeellllllllpppppp
somebody should help us (Arabic language speakers) to fix this G1 phone Arabic support issue ,,, when I read the roadmap and did not find any plans to support Arabic, i felt disappointed...

this is only a half solution for the problem ... haven't tested it yet

For Arabic support: http://www.2shared.com/file/4721532/c336ef8d/update.html
It's JF1.4 (RC30) with arial as the fallback font. You can read arabic msgs and websites but no writing yet.
Same goes for everyone else: If you need your native alphabet, just replace DroidSansFallback.ttf with whatever font that supports your language.
are the letters connected too?
looks like someone made it already.. but i hope that we will be able to get it free, as it is with everything "OPEN source"

NEW app!
I have created an Arabic Keyboard on the market, check it out.
Hey everyone. I've got a Samsung I600 but its USB port seems not working now...
The ROM is WM6.1 OS and preinstalled with a Chinese input software (But not T9, I don't see any T9 in this ROM..)
THE THING IS, that I need to type in Russian alphabets, so is there any kind of input software for QWERTY keyboard to type in Russian alphabets?
I searched for the forum but only found Russian input softwares for touch-screen devices. Such as Resco or FingerKey etc. etc.
If necessary, I'd rather delete the original Chinese input software for the privilege of typing in Russian....
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
=================================
Update a bit,
I renamed the folder of Chinese IME and successfully blocked it (It's in some way just like a cockroach for me...). And I installed the T9 Russian input to my i600 device successfully.
tinyurl.[com]/ybvsq8a
But the question is, that the T9 that I installed is for Numpad phones, i.e. the keyboard layout is completely out of control! And to type in Russian I can only use num keys instead of qwerty-йцукен keyboard.
I wanna solve the problem cos it also affects my English input. that is to say, if I switch to ABC mode, Q=Q,W=W, but T=а\б\в, U=г\д\е etc. etc.
I checked the document below but was baffled, cos it's for German and the keyboard is completely different, I can't find where to put Б and Ю on my i600 keyboard...
tinyurl.[com]/y4kux3l
SO...I STILL NEED HELP..
Maybe a specially designed T9 for qwerty keyboard will work or, I want to know how to redefine i600's keyboard layout.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

But I've got no T9 in my ROM.... so this won't work.
I'm just wondering if there is any kind of software, for example that creates a virtual keyboard for Cyrillic alphabets or something like that...?
BTW How to say 'Input software' in Russian? I looked for it in the dic but no clues...

Hi,
This weekend I bought a HTC Flyer and I'm so happy. There is one thing though that's killing me...
I also bought a Bluetooth keyboard so I can write faster when I write large texts etc. The thing is though that I can't change the keyboard layout to German (even if the Keyboard has a physical layout of German, the software keyboard layout is still English).
I can't find anything under the "Languages and Keyboard" settings so I'm currently a bit desperate.
How can I get my German configured android system to understand to use a "Germany layout keyboard" and not a "English layout"?
I really hope that someone can support me here...
Thanks
Hirrsson
PS: Please consider that I'm really a android newbie so I don't understand all the terms etc yet....
hello there to everyone
as this is my first post on this forum, i'd like to take this line to thank all of you whom share information, knowledge, and whatnot to all others: Thank You.
posting here to request the same informtion: pairing an external bluetooth keyboard forces said keyboard to be in english layout, whatever the keyboard. (in my case: french).
In locale the bluetooth keyboard does appears, offering Three settings, but none regarding layout.
I personaly see this as a feature that is lacking due to the fact that the os is intended to be primarily used via touchscreen keyboard; but i also think this feature is needed big time. now heading to official android feature request to see if it has been added to newer versions (am runing 2.3) and if not, request it.
I did this for my Stowaway Keyboard. It is a lot of work, you need root on your device, rootexplorer and Hexeditor.
I can guide you through if you wish.
Which phone? Which keyboard? What has to be changed? öäü? y-z ???

can i get arabic support for my htc t9292
It complex script language,
so it will develop after mango.
my language too.
Locale ID
i don't think so...MS put so many languages in mango...but i don't think there is any right to left language...like persian...like arabic...
in mangob2 it's like the same before....don't supported right to left languages in web...
Until Microsoft adds official support for it, just use the Arabic Hub app from the marketplace, you'll find it at the bottom of the list of apps though listed as "المحور العربي" (Arabic Hub).
What's in stall for the future post-Mango? John McConnell explains the challenges:
"While I hope you’ll agree that Mango is a step forward, I’m all too aware that there’s still much to do. Two areas we’re working hard to address in future releases are languages with complex scripts and extending services to more markets. Let me briefly explain.
Complex scripts are used to write languages such as Arabic and Hindi, where the displayed character depends on its neighbor (“contextual shaping”), and languages written right-to-left such as Hebrew and Urdu. Many of the controls used in Windows Phone require enhancement to properly display such scripts."

Hey fellow XDA forum users
I'm thinking about going from Andoid to WP7 (Lumia 900?)
The only problem I have is the dictonary language. I'm from the Faroe Islands, and there is no official support for our language (we are only 48.000 people). On Android I could download an app called Scandinavian Keyboard, and then download a Faroese dictionary on top of that.
I think I've read sometime before WP7 was released, that they did not open up the keyboard as much as on Android, is that true?
Is it possialbe to add a keyboard and words?
