Yes after the 6 entry need to make sure copy per letter caps and number thanks

I bought a new Photon Q two weeks ago and it came with software version 14. It let me unlock the bootloader through Motorola's page but it did take a couple of tries to make sure I entered the key correctly because there were long chains of 0's for some god awful reason. Once I did, everything went smoothly. Here's the guide I used:
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/08/20/how-to-unlock-the-motorola-photon-q-bootloader/
Might just have to keep trying. I haven't read anything online about them no longer providing unlocking.

Make sure that it is spelled correctly because that's what happened to me. Like I missed a zero if I tried typing the whole thing manually. Then I discovered I can copy from CMD (didn't know that before). Even then I had to get rid of the spaces it left.
So yeah, just make sure and proofread.

Not all bootloaders can be unlocked
Hey, I wanted to point out that not all bootloaders can be unlocked. The Photon Q on C Spire cannot be. Only the Sprint ones. I know this from trying the step by step directions that brandontowey provided a link to as well as contacting Motorola support. They confirmed that only Sprint Photon Q's are eligible for the bootloader unlock. So, my question is, does anyone know of another way to root the Photon Q? Thanks in advance.

people who rooted without unlocking were using Motofail2go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1940594.
but Motorola patched this in the last update to ASA 14(Sprint verion anyway), so depending on what software verssion you're on, i don't know if you can root or not!

Hmm, I thought I saw someone posting unlocking CSpire Photon Q.

Thanks Skrilax_CZ and yogi2010 for your replies. I will keep searching the forums. I am sure there is a solution buried somewhere here in the forums. Having a phone with a small regional carrier makes it a tad bit more difficult to find what you're looking for. But I have never been let down when I search here on xda. Thanks again guys. If I happen to find the answer I will come back here and let everyone know.

Though it's very strange that official unlock would fail for any Photon Q on the market, the following should work for any Q:
1. saferoot to gain root access (needed for motopocalypse in the next step) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758
2. motopocalypse to unlock the bootloader - http://vulnfactory.org/blog/2013/04/08/motorola-bootloader-unlocking/

Hi xdadevelpers team unfortunately i have installed an unoficial rom for my device from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069935 it works very good and no thing wrong with it but i have to send my phone to the Authorized agent here in egypt because of a problem at the sim card place in the phone so i need to get back to the official kernal which is ics is there any way to do this please help me
have you noticed, that this is the Razr HD section ?
And yes. MOAR fonts
Though you are indeed in the wrong forum, i'll help you out
There are 2 possibilities:
1. Your bootloader is unlocked:
Grab the appropriate Stock FW here: XT910 Stock Firmwares
And flash your phone according to this guide: http://www.andromods.com/tips-trick/how-to-restore-unroot-droid-razr-m-xt907-stock-original-firmware.html
Though the guide is for the xt907, it'll also work for xt910. As long as your BL is unlocked...

What do you mean by saved cid? Is your phone carrier locked? Or what are you trying to say? You should pick a stock fw, which is at least your country/region better also from your carrier. It may also not be available at the site i mentioned.
If it is not available you could try and make a request. See the op of this thread
There is no such thing as an "unlocked bootloader" XT910 nor any other OMAP chipset Motorola device unless it is an engineering model with an NS bootloader.
There is no OEM unlock available for those devices and there never will be as the bootloader was never designed to be unlocked.
Motorola themselves have stated as much publicly.
This person has wiped their CID. partition in order to successfully flash a firmware from a different region onto his device.
He should seek advice in the proper forum fro those who have experience with this type of cross flashing issue.
It is precisely as a result of the locked bootloader status of these devices that these kinds of issues arise when users attempt to update their device with firmware not intended for their specific hardware or regional configuration.
Uh thanks for the heads up, wasn't aware of that. I assumed that motorola devices would be all similiar with this.

Cannot seem to root/unlock my SGH-T769

I'm a little lost here.
Phone specs
Android 2.3.6
SGH-T769
I want to root/unlock the phone.
I followed this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919228
Then I pop out the T-Mobile SIM card and insert the StraightTalk SIM card -
However, when I follow this procedure, I still get the 'Enter Network Unlock Code' :cyclops:
What am I doing wrong? The reason I ask - I have another phone of the same spec, but I updated the Android OS to v 4.0.4 and it worked like a charm.
Silly question - but is the above procedure ONLY for Android v4.0.4? Can anyone shed some light for me? I'm clueless. I don't wanna screw up my wife's phone. :crying:
Thanks - G

Hey - so, here is what I've done. I've brought this thing back to the T-Mobile stock image.
I'll admit - I'm a little lost.
Questions:
1. Do I need to upgrade the firmware to root/unlock this device?
2. if no, can someone perhaps point me to a thread as the only one I can seem to locate is the unlock for v4.0.4
3. if yes, I seem to have changed something and Kies will not let me update it.
4. also, if yes, I am wondering if I can update it using Odin.
Thanks for your help!

Rooting and unlocking are two different things. Rooting is more like freedom to what you do on your phone, like mod and tweak it. Unlocking on the other hand is to use on any carrier you wish to use it on. To unlock there is a guide somewhere in this forum (which you should be able to find).

Hey! Thanks much for all of your suggestions. However, I need to tell you that I was the one that phoqued it up!
It was my wife's phone - SGH-T769.
Like I had said in a previous post, I was getting a 'network unlock code' - sigh.
I followed the exact procedure - to the letter - double, and triple checked my work . Still getting a 'enter network unlock code'
She came home Sunday afternoon, I was still fiddling around with it. She looked at me and said ".....do you think maybe it's a bad SIM card..? I'm not technical, but you've tried it on two phones of the same make/model..."
I looked at her like "...holy ****e..." - I looked closely at what I was doing. Guess what?
When you purchase the Straight Talk kit, there are 4 SIM cards in there - two micro/nano SIMs and two standard sized ones. The one that worked for my SGH-T769 was the orange SIM card - I was trying to use the gray one with hers.
This, my fellow Nerds, is what is known as an Epic Failure on my part - one for the Wall Of Shame for me. My wife has a degree in Criminal Justice and I have a degree in Comp Sci and Mech Eng. I guess skoolin' can mean absolutely nothing sometimes!:cyclops:
Problem solved - thanks to my wife - I think I'm gonna keep her around. Girls don't have the killer instinct and perverted mind that us guys do, so their brains can function a little more clear than ours can.
The frustrating thing - she is right 9.5 times out of 10. I just have to accept in lots of aspects that she is smarter than I am.
Thanks Bugs - Love ya!:highfive:

photon q unlocking have got questions

id like to say iI solved both issues from the previous thread, battery had a small tear in the ribbon causing intermittent connection issues so here's the questions
1. I plan on doing the sim card mod to this unit and was wondering how the mod functioned in the states and what software/boot loader unlocking and or carrier unlocking can be done to accomplish this?
2. I attempted to unlock the boot loader last night and the Motorola website claims the unit is not unlockable the phone is from sprint and it is a photon q late, anyone else have unlocking issues?
3. I am no stranger to hardware modding, but am a ccomparative noob when it comes to boot loader unlocker and or carrier unlocking so advice in this area would be helpful as well, are they different or the same thing?

This is the only thing I can legitimately comment on. I just unlocked my replacement Photon and it took about 7 times of entering the adb id code into the Motorola site to actually get it right. :
- The fact that there are around 22 0's in a row doesn't help, double check your entry a few
- omit anything that isn't a single letter, number, etc (can't remember if they use symbols). The [info] or I think [bootloader] before each line, any spaces, etc.
- save your id and the email with your unlock code. Not sure if you'll need it but you never know

you must have root , unknow surces checked on and phone in debuging mode after you press run.bat from unziped file

ok so i was able to acheive root, Fixed the bump shutoffs and fixed the fastboot dropping out issues, and actually managed to unlock the bootloader but now im planning on doing the Cornholio's sim card mod and want to know what software should be flashed b4 i mod the sim slot to flush out the old sprint garabage, also i noticed Cornholio mentioned that the "NV" needed editing to make the unit useable on GSM in the USA networks soo any further info would be very helpful
ok so i messed something up, got cmrcovery installed, an attempted to flash a custom rom, and well, it didnt work, it aborted half way though the installation and left me kinda cold, I can boot into CWM recovery but thats about it soo since this is my first attempt at all this I could use alil direction on how to correct this lil fubar anyone got any Advice?
Edit So phones now fixxed and booting again, Have Cwm version 6013 got the Stable version of cwm and the rom installed correctly and booted So heres the Question Of the Day, how Do i Edit the NV to get this sucker Usable On USA GSM NEtworks?
Same question! i have the hard mod and software mod done but it need to NV edit so that i can have it work on gsm networks with at&t.

You created a thread specifically for this question, which I answered. Why are you posting the same question in other threads?
the answere you gave me was for a different phone, after looking around alot of people were saying it would not work on photon and would brick the phone, I wanted to look around and get other people's advice. Thank you for the answer, if i cant find any other option i will try that method regurdless of risk.

If someone says that NV item 8322 edit does not work to enable US GSM network usage on Photon 4G (MB855 - NVIDIA Tegra 2 based device), then he's right.
But in the case of Photon Q 4G LTE (XT897 - Qualcomm MSM8960 based device), which is relevant in this forum, the NV item 8322 edit indeed works.
It has been already confirmed by numerous posts in here.
All Motorola MSM8960 devices introduced in 2012 are very similar and the NV item 8322 edit is proved to be the way to unlock the access to US GSM networks on all US carrier specific moto_msm8960 models. Photon Q is no exception in this regard.
You also need to use fsg.mbn from Atrix HD, older 4.1.1. Otherwise it will not work. Then in QPST you have to disable automated switch to CDMA. Tested personally & working.

I have the same problem
hopefully someone is going to help us
I have heard it mentioned that you can temporarily root the ATT/AIO/Cricket XT1045 on Android 4.4.4, but not permanently (yet). I have no idea how, though.
Can someone help us out?
I had an hour or so long talk with an AT&T employee who actually knew what they were talking about. I believe due to restrictions in ATT tech chat, he was unable to post either links or straight out tell me how to do it, but he said that it is very possible.
Perhaps people should try logging into their AT&T account and using the tech chat to see what someone can come up with.
Has any progress been made on this? I have XT1045 from Cricket Wireless (owned by AT&T) and the bootloader is not unlockable using the conventional method.

OK. Here I go. Sorry I'm kind of new to XDA. I too have a xt1045 and I just unlocked the boot loader and I too am on ATT.
I bought my phone from Motorola unlocked, idk if ATT or cricket or whatever carrier sells them unlocked too. That may affect bootloader unlocking since you may need an unlocked device to see unlock boot loader.
Now down to the bootloader code.
Make sure you are copying the code correctly from the command prompt. I think the first time I tried to unlock bootloader, I may have copied wrong or something like that. Also, I have heard reports of people retrying, have their devices verified, and getting a code to unlock bootloader. Hopefully that is the case for you guys and unlocking is a viable option.
Hope I helped
Feel free to ask me question about unlocking the bootloader.
I haven't rooted yet and I am getting ready for that.
FYI: you we're able to unlocked your bootloader only because you purchased your device directly from Motorola. The rest of us who purchased from a carrier are F*CKED.

Yeah except i was only replying to him saying if you got your moto G from a carrier it's locked always your f**ked , and that aint so ..
And I didn't say carrier unlocked uh I got it from a carrier new , so yeah soon as I opened the box and entered bootloader it said unlocked yes and no warning screen upon boot either saying this device has been unlocked .
For you guys with At&T-XT1045 or any try this k , Lemme know if it worked
1.) Unlink your Device from motorola ID which means dont be signed in from your device in settings menu -unlink it & don't log in with your google account neithaa dawg.
2.) Unlink from motorola site if needed if option is there
3.) Sign into website and drag the entire policy bar to the bottom (like you read it in entirety) click I agree and check for key eligibility again
4.) Try again with IE 11 if you haven't used it already
5.) recheck your string letter for freakin letter removes all spaces make sure you include # signs try one more time.. There are 4-5 spaces when you just copy/paste the string so paste the code into notepad with any extra spaces deleted please.
See here from about 3:00 on -->> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjsO7t5ulhw
6.) If all that failed spend $25 get http://theroot.ninja/ ( for only 5.01 or lower - doesn't work on 5.02 I heard)
7.) If all else has failed head to thee motorala-forumwhere they are informing moto G owners to send email with their fastboot oem get_unlock_data + fastboot getvar al, and they should be able to accomodate you..
8.) Proceed to adb Sideload or Flash This Total Sauciness Either Way Moto G 2014 Owners

Does not work for me, i have Moto G 4G XT1045 from ATT.
Anyone tried to Flash another firmware? i will try that i'll bring news here, hope my IMEI don't desappear :/
Grettings!

Is it possible to unlock the bootloader of an XT925 that can only boot into fastmode?

My phone is boogered up so bad that it just boots into fastboot mode. I have been unsuccessful in flashing the stock ROMs. It's the Canadian version with unlocked GSM. I'm hoping that unlocking the bootloader will help me to flash it and get it working again. I have tried using the Motorola site but it says my phone cannot be unlocked.
Anyone?? Please? I have search these forums for days and cannot find the answer to my question. If it's there I'm finding it. Any help would be appreciated.
I know Rogers allows unlocking the bootloader. As I recall, you're a Fido user (which Rogers owns) right? Are you still looking for the Fido 4.1.2 SBF? I think I can track it down for you. I'm surprised Moto won't unlock the bootloader via the website. Have you tried Motoclypse (I think it's called) to try and unlock it? I guess you'll need a running ROM first.
Lemme know what you need exactly and I'll see if I can hunt it down for you.

CWG... Thank you! I've scoured a few sites that are still up and running (best one so far is motofirmware.com.) I found and downloaded this.. 9.8.2Q-8-XT925_VQL-12.2_CANADA_VANQJBLTEFRCI_P004_CFC_fb.xml but cannot flash gpt and boot partitions. I have tried editing the xml file as suggested in other posts to prevail. Is there a way I can positively identify which region my phone is? I purchased it brand new from a Canadian seller on eBay. The listing said that it was a Rogers phone but when I unlocked the GSM the key came back as being from Fido. There was no carrier specific apps on it. I'm at the most current level of firmware on it by the carrier as of a few weeks ago.
I got the bootloader unlocked!!!! I was originally entering the code into Motorola's website through Chrome and something told me to try it through Firefox.... success!!

Awesome, so you're good to go or still need a SBF for Fido?

Nope. I'm good. Installed the one mention before and updated to KitKat.
