Is it possible to unlock the bootloader of an XT925 that can only boot into fastmode? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone is boogered up so bad that it just boots into fastboot mode. I have been unsuccessful in flashing the stock ROMs. It's the Canadian version with unlocked GSM. I'm hoping that unlocking the bootloader will help me to flash it and get it working again. I have tried using the Motorola site but it says my phone cannot be unlocked.

Anyone?? Please? I have search these forums for days and cannot find the answer to my question. If it's there I'm finding it. Any help would be appreciated.

I know Rogers allows unlocking the bootloader. As I recall, you're a Fido user (which Rogers owns) right? Are you still looking for the Fido 4.1.2 SBF? I think I can track it down for you. I'm surprised Moto won't unlock the bootloader via the website. Have you tried Motoclypse (I think it's called) to try and unlock it? I guess you'll need a running ROM first.
Lemme know what you need exactly and I'll see if I can hunt it down for you.

CWG... Thank you! I've scoured a few sites that are still up and running (best one so far is motofirmware.com.) I found and downloaded this.. 9.8.2Q-8-XT925_VQL-12.2_CANADA_VANQJBLTEFRCI_P004_CFC_fb.xml but cannot flash gpt and boot partitions. I have tried editing the xml file as suggested in other posts to prevail. Is there a way I can positively identify which region my phone is? I purchased it brand new from a Canadian seller on eBay. The listing said that it was a Rogers phone but when I unlocked the GSM the key came back as being from Fido. There was no carrier specific apps on it. I'm at the most current level of firmware on it by the carrier as of a few weeks ago.

I got the bootloader unlocked!!!! I was originally entering the code into Motorola's website through Chrome and something told me to try it through Firefox.... success!!

Awesome, so you're good to go or still need a SBF for Fido?

[Q] D2G not asking for unlock code

Hi
I bought D2G from ebay it was listed with bad esn. It's not asking unlock code or anything, reads the sim card, changes to global mode, connects to a network(jumps from one to another all the time) but no service when I try to dial a number says network not available. So what is wrong with my phone? is it unlock?something is wrong wit the radio? or what?
If it is not asking for network subsidy code, then it must be unlocked if it works with your sim. Make sure it is set to GSM/UMTS mode, not Global - if your sim is active you should get reception. At least on 2G (GSM). If you are not getting reception, something might be wrong with the phone.
It might also be running a custom ROM (unlock requests only work on Blurry ROMs afaik); another possibility is former owner going to the “hidden” menu and choosing “USA Band”.
In the latter case, you need to SBF.
thanks Gasai Yuno custom rom was the problem now it's on stock rom and is asking for unlock code. I'll try to unlock it thanks again

Good catch! I wouldn't thought somebody would sell their phone without bringing it factory default first..
Good luck to OP with the unlock codes - hopefully your phone won't turn out to be from those Verizon played with..

Flash the stock ROM.
I try to flash stock rom (kdz extension) but it doesn't work because my boot recovery is not stock recovery. What should I do to remove CWM recovery for my phone model LG Optimus G E973?

[Q] Updation of Unlocked AT&T HOX...is it possible to update. If so, How??

I have a unlocked At&T HOX ...i think it is network unlocked...I did it by entering a code and the phone is working fine here in India with other networks..
My Android version is 4.0.3 and software is 1.85
I came to know that there is a update for HOX with 4.0.4 and i think 2.22...
My question is..as i unlocked it...If I update my mobile to this new version..does it get blocked\bricked....what are the safety measures to be taken..please explain...
I am scared to do as I don't have good enough knowledge...
Also, if the update is succesful am i supposed to unlock it again...if so, will the existing unlock code work??
Please someone guide me...
many thanks in advance...
You should unlock your bootloader first. It sounds like you are just sim unlocked. You also won't get an OTA if you are using a different carrier so you would need to run the RUU. I have never sim unlocked a phone before, but I would guess you might have to reenter your sim unlock code again.
I mainly took the 2.20 RUU for running on AT&T network, which I think was an improvement over 1.85. Since you are not on AT&T I would recommend unlocking your bootloader, and flashing a radio that's best suited for your carrier. If you take the 2.20 RUU you won't be able to flash radios anymore.

Are you currently rooted? I would unlock your bootloader and do SuperCID before doing any updates. That way you can always root your phone.

I wouldn't recommend 2.20. Once you run the 2.20 you have to flash the boot.img for any ROM manually (so you can't use restore a backup on the go without a computer) and you can't flash radios at all. Being that he is using this phone internationally, being able to flash radios may be pretty important.

what i said.
not being able to flash boot.img in recovery is the most annoying aspect of flashing the 2.20 ruu when you are already bootloader unlocked.

No I didn't root it...I got the phone and unlock code (Seller sent both to me)...once i got it just inserted other carrier sim and unlocked the phone...apart from this I didn't do anything...it is as it is...As another friend mentioned, I think I did SIM\Network Unlock...
What is the way to root the phone....and how to unlock bootloader...???

I don't really know what to tell you. You should do some more research first. We told you already what you "should" do.
root, unlock bootloader, flash recovery, flash custom rom, if you have trouble with network try different radios. do not take an ota or ruu, i am sure you will regret it.

[Q] xt910 downgrade

Hi xdadevelpers team unfortunately i have installed an unoficial rom for my device from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069935 it works very good and no thing wrong with it but i have to send my phone to the Authorized agent here in egypt because of a problem at the sim card place in the phone so i need to get back to the official kernal which is ics is there any way to do this please help me
have you noticed, that this is the Razr HD section ?
And yes. MOAR fonts
Though you are indeed in the wrong forum, i'll help you out
There are 2 possibilities:
1. Your bootloader is unlocked:
Grab the appropriate Stock FW here: XT910 Stock Firmwares
And flash your phone according to this guide: http://www.andromods.com/tips-trick/how-to-restore-unroot-droid-razr-m-xt907-stock-original-firmware.html
Though the guide is for the xt907, it'll also work for xt910. As long as your BL is unlocked...
2. Your bootloader is locked and you're on safestrap:

And above all: Next time post your question here: Droid RAZR Q&A

What do you mean by saved cid? Is your phone carrier locked? Or what are you trying to say? You should pick a stock fw, which is at least your country/region better also from your carrier. It may also not be available at the site i mentioned.
If it is not available you could try and make a request. See the op of this thread
There is no such thing as an "unlocked bootloader" XT910 nor any other OMAP chipset Motorola device unless it is an engineering model with an NS bootloader.
There is no OEM unlock available for those devices and there never will be as the bootloader was never designed to be unlocked.
Motorola themselves have stated as much publicly.
This person has wiped their CID. partition in order to successfully flash a firmware from a different region onto his device.
He should seek advice in the proper forum fro those who have experience with this type of cross flashing issue.
It is precisely as a result of the locked bootloader status of these devices that these kinds of issues arise when users attempt to update their device with firmware not intended for their specific hardware or regional configuration.
Uh thanks for the heads up, wasn't aware of that. I assumed that motorola devices would be all similiar with this.

[Q][solved] device not avaiable unlock bootloader

Hello, my moto g is a locked bootloader, if I change the rom it, I'll get it unlock?
You have to unlock the bootloader first from here if you have a Moto G https://motorola-global-portal.cust...e/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a/action/auth.
Yea in order to install a ROM you have unlock the bootloader, and no installing a custom ROM won't unlock it you have to use the site above to unlock it. If you have a phone locked to any tariff like T-Mobile you won't be able to unlock it even if you unlock the Sim due to the addictions in the software and you will get a message "device not available" or something like this. So you can use guides available on the internet to solve this.

You can`t flash anything if you have a locked bootloader, not even a factory image and certainly not a custom rom. What is the problem on the Motorola site, could you post a screenshot when you try unlocking the bootloader via that site?

Well I haven`t unlocked my Moto (and probably won`t) but maybe you could try following this tutorial to the letter http://xperiahtcrootingrom.com/unlock-motorola-moto-g-bootloader/ or else Google around for users with your similar issue.
thanks for the support, I'll try this link.
wrap your head after a bit I decided to risk it all, I had a rom americamovil br ( claro Brazil ), this did not allow unlock the bootloader, so I installed the fastboot one retail rom Brazil, and yes I got this unlock the bootloader , noting that the risk of losing the IMEI is great, so think carefully before deciding to do the process.

XT1028 (USA VZW PP) Flash to another carrier?

Okay so I bought a used XT1028 on Amazon, and was disappointed that I couldn't root it due to the eternally locked bootloader (thanks to stock 4.4.4).
So I decided to stick with stock until the Lollipop update comes. I talked to Motorola, who told me to contact VZW. I called VZW, and after a few forwards, found out my device is "PIB Locked" which means it needs to be scanned at a Verizon store so it can be activated.
I don't want to do that, nor do I think that'll help.
So after some research, found out that I might need to flash another carrier to be able to get the Lollipop update.
How true is that, and how do I do so? I'm no stranger to flashing a ROM, but a carrier might require some learning.

you could possibly downgrade the to 4.3 then root but don't downgrade the bootloader. also you must use official motorola signed software. some had success others were pissed.
