[Q] can I use official OTA zip to update my phone? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I'm currently on cm10.1 with s-off and unlocked.
just wondering if I can use the JB OTA zip file from ruu.androidfiles.org to bring my phone to official JB. If yes, can I just load the zip file in TWRP and flash that way? thanks!

If you do it may lock your phone back down and I don't know what would happen if you flashed a sense based update to an aosp ROM.

Just flash a stock rooted ROM posted in Development.
Simple rule, don't install OTAs on a rooted Android device. At minimum, you will lose root.

[Q] ics ota brick?

does anyone know if we will still be able to update via OTA means if we unlock bootloaders,root,s-off etc.... on sony ericsson phones they cant update if they unlock bootloaders.
sorry if this was already answered i didnt find it..... :/
No, not if you're not using the stock rom.
Custom roms will always be updated faster than stock OTA updates.
so when the official ics is released if i reflash stock rom i will be fine when updating?

You'd have to be on the stock rom and stock recovery. So you might aswell run the RUU for your phone and you'll be good to go.

Stock RUU.......
Seems the stock ROM's aren't perfect. Take a chance......
When the ics ota comes out it will likely have a new bootloader which revolutionary won't like. Htcdev should work

Updating to 1.85

Hey guys, can someone tell me how to update my phone to run on 1.85 or higher. I'm on a mac and already rooted with unlocked bootloader. I'm not opposed to running a custom roms.

Do you have a custom recovery? If not, look around for CWM or TWRP. After that, download a rom and you'll be on your way Use the custom recovery to flash it (rom threads have more specific instructions) CleanRom 2.6 is what I'm running and I love it. It's based off 1.85/1.88
If have cwm then the only thing I need to do is flash the rom. Will that automatically put me on 1.85 or whatever? No other installs will be needed?

Return to stock

I am getting a warranty service done for my phone, as its borked. I don't want to download an RUU for my HOXL, as my internet is very slow (256kb) I have ViperXL and TWRP installed, with an unlocked bootloader. I need the stock recovery.img and stock kernel if possible. I have the stock ROM already flashed, but need these elements. Thanks for the help!

how did you flash the stock ROM file?
Downloaded it on my phone on my 3G plan through AT&T. I then flashed the boot.img through an app called flash image GUI, rebooted recovery, and flashed the stock ROM file posted in the dev section. I would download the RUU in the same manner, but my internet on my HOXL isn't unlimited.

Flash to JB from ICS?

Is it possible it not use the upgrade method and just flash up to JB from .30 ICS?
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
Do you mean flash to stock JB, or some other JB ROM? If you're on .30 ICS you're still on the ICS bootloader. There are a few JB ROMs that will work on that bootloader, such as the early CM10 and Baked ROMs.
If you want to go to stock JB using an ASUS ROM, your only path is via upgrade, either OTA or by placing the file on your tablet and rebooting.
Ah I figured that was the case. I'm using the guide from the sticky In dev. When I copy the files and reboot to recovery I get a dead Droid. I will try again some time from scratch.
Does Ti back up restore every thing if I do get the JB update to stick?

CyanogenMod from ViperXL

Hey guys I have got the ViperXL, the newest one on my HTC One X from ATT and I am going to eventually try this cm-10.1-20130421-UNOFFICIAL-evita.zip the newest CyanogenMod located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2205183
and I am wondering, how do I do this?
Do I have to reinstall the jellybean ruu I downloaded from HTC and then do the CyanogenMod? Or can I just go straight to CyanogenMod. Thanks guys.

[How-To] Downgrade your Touch Panel's firmware (and upgrade back)
You might need this depending on Hboot. Also may need to fashboot flash boot.img. otherwise just make a backup and wipe everything accept external SD. Then install in recovery = profit

I don't know why would I have to downgrade? My hboot is 2.14. Can you maybe be a little more specific. Thanks
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Also you don't need to flash jelly bean. I was in 4.0.4 before the official update came out and I was already on four ROMs that were jelly bean based
Because aosp ROMs have a an weird affect about the touch screen not working when on 2.14. So go there and downgrade your touch screen and then flash over cm
Sent from my Carbon-ize Evita using xda-developers app
the 2.14 hboot came with an update to the touchscreen firmware. No source code has been released so support for it cannot be built into AOSP/AOKP Roms. Hence, a downgrade of the touchscreen firmware is needed to run them. It's quick and painless.
