AudioOut_4 partial wakelocks draining battery - HTC Butterfly

My main problem with the phone is the high battery drain when idle . If idle 5 hours , the audiout_4 wakelock will show 5 hours. Battery drain than averages 3%/hour !!
I have disabled all sounds in settings ( except of course phone calls n messages)
I have also uninstalled some music apps ( Poweramp, winamp)
I am not able to identify what apps are causing this drain
I do not faced such a wakelock in my other androids
Any guidance is appreciated

Here are some reasons:
1. Haptic feedback on 3rd party keyboards
2. 3rd party sound enhancements like dsp manager , volume+ etc
Are you on stock ? Rooted and what kernel ?

I am on stock and unrooted
I have disabled all haptic feedbacks . I have installed vol+ and will try remove it and see whether it helps
Thanks for the tips

From what I know about audioout locks that app could be the main culprit.. Just remove and run phone normal for at least a day to get some new stats

I'm getting this on my HTC One. I'll try disabling haptic feedback, as I don't use anything else you've mentioned.
Thanks all.

Still getting them, although since disabling location settings in Maps and haptic feedback my battery life has increased massively.
I've uninstalled 'WE7' music app as that's the only one I have installed that's not stock, and may be causing the this wakelock.

deep sleep on cm10

hi, i have an htc sensation 4g running cm10 jelly bean rom and i wanna know how to put my phone on deep sleep. im on bruce kernel 3.0.49. can some1 please help?
I believe the device should automatically go into sleep mode when not in use. I don't believe you have to do anything for this to occur. Make sure none of your applications are running on there own.go to settings, apps, running apps and see what's running. Leave system apps alone however if other than system apps are running you can close these apps. Just press on the app and a menu will pop up. The running apps other than system apps could prevent deep sleep. Make sure you don't shut down ANY system applications that are running. Those should be fine. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

If you're a little adventurous you can check out the Q&A thread about Bruce's ROM. Skipjacks and Tobitge have put together a list of processes to kill using system tuner (I think). The wakelocks are a known issue and perplexing to say the least. I am beginning to wonder however how big of battery drain they really are... I'm having pretty good results despite them.

does it improve battery life tho?
Yes it would if they could improve the wake lock situation. Check out as above thread suggested, they possibly know of a fix! Also have you considered a extended battery? Extended battery really helped my battery issues. But in this case it sounds like a known issue with something in the rom causing wake lock
This is where your drain is coming from. Check out the fix above. See if it helps.

This only helps with some specific Google Services wakelocks. The Android framework is causing some other wakelocks through the AlarmManager service (Not the same as the alarm clock). These wakelocks have proved very elusive to destroy.
The modifications to the google services framework that Tobitege and I worked out do seem to have some impact on battery life. But if you are a big user of Google Now or GTalk, these modifications are not for you as they break both of those services (mainly because those 2 services were 2 of the 3 main causes of Google wakelocks)
The thing with the battery drain because of these wakelocks is that they drain the battery during sleep, but that drain isn't being properly reported in the battery stats (this is an electrical physics problem related to how a slowly discharging power cell can give a false reading of voltage, not a software problem). So you'll have the phone in sleep for 3-4 hours and it will show no discharge despite constant wakelocks. But us the phone for 10 minutes and the battery quickly drops 15%. In reality it drained that 15% during sleep due to the wakelocks. The battery stats just weren't showing it right away.
Bruce did make some tweaks on 10/27 that have improved the Android inspired wakelocks noticably. But they are still there.

No CPU deep sleep

Hi,
I am not sure if this should be posted to specific forum for my Moto X. If so, please let me know.
The battery drains very quickly. I used CPU spy and it showed that phone never enters deep sleep, even though I barely uses it.
How could I found out which application is preventing the sleep?
Thanks
Like Sewrizer said, search for a wakelock detector on google play store and lock your screen for some time
It should show you which app is causing this problem
I have Moto X with 4.4 and no root. It looks like Wake Lock Detector would need root on 4.4. Is that right?
Thanks
betterbatterystatus is also a good app that helps with analysis of battery drain.
Anyway in the case you know you only need to check wakelocks, but I would still recommend BBS for you (of cource, BBS can analysis wakelocks as well)
@redhonker
BBS did not work in 4.4.4 in non rooted mode.
It happened to me on Moto g. Some culprit app drained battery. So i used DS battery and greenify together.
DS battery- Slumberer mode (This forces deep sleep i guess)
Greenify- Allows you to shut down nonsense background apps.
Now phone is back to normalcy. Again CM battery doctor listed some music app as "Fast draining" I uninstalled some.
As general advice:
Disable auto sync and poll frequency of your email and other apps and get back your motto x. Enjoy
Press Thanks if helped.

I thought greenify needs root as well. Will try it.
This KitKat change is really bad. I don't know why they want to prevent users to know more about their battery usage.
What is CM battery?
Thanks
Greenify has a hack for non root. You can enable hibernate feature from home up button for screen lock pin enabled devices through experimental menu.
For non - pin screen lock devices go to experimental menu click "automated hibernation". This will enable hibernation after screen off.
I prefer home button scroll up menu for " hibernate + lock screen ".
CM battery doctor was previously KS battery doctor. I just use it to kill apps and know battery % left in status bar.
Remember no battery saver app is useful for non root devices because ability to control is much lessor.
Rooted battery savers can limit cpu usage, kill apps and prevent again from Android picking up.
Greenify an exception beyond 4.0 devices.

This post will benefit all not just @OP
To identify bg apps that suck your internet and battery just install No root firewall and check access log. Uninstall those apps that keep pinging servers outside for adverts etc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.greyshirts.firewall&hl=en
Eg: Nova launcher access advertisements on avg of 4/sec. Do decide which one is best for you.
You can even control system apps like Motorola updates etc.
DS battery saver
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rootuninstaller.batrsaver&hl=en
Greenify
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify&hl=en
CM/KS battery doctor
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ijinshan.kbatterydoctor_en&hl=en
As you see CM reports higher battery available time than DS battery saver.
I suspect former (CM) is more publicity driven and not sure about its performance. While DS is good.
Please press THANKS if interesting. Sent from Moto G-od via xt1033 free Android app.
One more way to analyze usage
1. Press following
*#*#4636#*#*
2. Or download phone testing app which does the above for you
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=diewland.testing.phone&hl=en
3. Click "Usage Statistics" -> "Usage time"
This does not require memory intensive app or root as it comes pre installed on your phone. Enjoy.
Please press THANKS if interesting. Sent from Moto G-od via xt1033 free Android app.
I run Mobiwol and block all apps I don't think need internet access. Plus AdblockPlus to remove advertisement trafficc. (I wish I have root then I need only one app).
Without root on 4.4, how much these can do?
I installed GSam. The frustrating thing is that most of application usage is by Android System and Kernel: 9 and 5 out of 34.
Thanks
Thanks for all the pointers.
With a few tries with GSAM, I was able to identify 2 rouge applications. Surprisingly, one is Google+. Since I don't use it, it's uninstalled.
I also recently moved to a different spot in office. The data signal apparently is bad from time to time. So I used llama to turn off data in office and wake up every 10 min to check for message.
This allowed me to go through the day without a recharge. Still not happy about battery life but that's ok for now.
Thanks
Try the Deep Sleep Battery Saver app mentioned earlier. Should solve your issue, since it forces deep sleep!

[Root] The incredible guide to incredible battery [Permissive kernel and Xposed]

The guide to get incredible battery on your S7E!
A lot of people are having trouble to push the 3600mah battery to the absolute max, so I will here show you how to do so. This will mainly be a link to another post made my @v7, which have made an incredible guide to get a good idle drain. I will mainly explain what works on our S7E and what not, while giving a few other tips. Most of these tips can be found all over the internet, but I just want one thread, where they're all collected, so people can read every tip in one thread. As most guides are general through out all devices, they is what works and what don't on our devices. You're free to share your own tips!
REMEMBER TO MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP. ANYTHING YOU DO ARE NOT MY FAULT NOR ANYONE ELSE BUT YOUR OWN FOR MAKING THIS CHANGES!
Firstly, use a debloated rom.. That do a lot..
As said, @v7 have made this guide here. Remember to thank him!
Greenify:
Get the donation package and greenify everything that runs in the background and you don't need push notifications with. With the Shallow Hibernation, it still runs nice and smoothly when you open them. After that, you enable GCM push for hibernated apps and look, if any of the apps that you need push notifications for, supports GCM push and if they do, hibernate them. You will still get notifications, but remember to check "Do not delete notifications from hibernated apps".
I have almost everything hibernated - Maps, Facebook Messenger etc, when still working smoothly - besides Play Store, as that gives problem with paid app licenses. I also enabled Aggressive Doze. You should whitelist the same as in Powernap, that will be listed below here.
Amplify:
I have everything in mentioned in the thread Amplified without problems. I hadn't touched the services, but they should be save to disable anyways. Network Location service, have given me problems with Android Wear communication before.
Powernap:
Here comes where you need a permissive kernel. The SuperKernel that just came out, is the only one on XDA for now. In Powernap you should whitelist the following
Amplify
Android System
Google Account Manager
Google Play-Services
Google Services Framework
Greenify + Donation package
Apps you need push notifications from (like Facebook Messenger)
Xposed Installer
Your alarm clock
Basically, you should whitelist anything that you want to run in the background while the screen is off.
Better Battery Stats:
Check the app after a sleep, but leave everything on as if you were using the phone (data, bluetooth etc) as this is about lowering power usage on normal use and not seeing how long standby time you can get while everything is turned off. GCM_Reconnect and Heartbeat might be high for Google Play-Services, but for me, limiting them gave late or non push-notifications, but test it yourself (remember to restart after limiting/unlimiting).
All the small things:
Turn off location history
Turn off services you don't need and let Tasker control it. (Turn GPS on when maps open, hibernate and turn maps of when closed etc)
Turn off bluetooth and wifi scan all the time
Get Smart Network from Xposed and set your network to Edge when screen is off and 3g/4g when screen is on.
A dark theme with dark icons can save quite some power
Samsungs own greyscale can be enabled in accesibility and then triple tab on homebutton, when you know you're out for a long day.
UPSM Manager from the Play Store can add apps to the Ultra Power Saving Mode, so you can add apps like Facebook Messenger and suddenly it's way more useable.
Use Tasker to force sync, instead of having it activated. I force sync every 2 hours with Tasker + Synker
I have turned off features that I DO NOT USE. Under Advanced Functions, almost anything + edge screen features.
More connection settings and "always search for devices" - Off
Custom kernel settings:
There are no custom kernel out on XDA yet that supports full Synapse, but the Echoe Team have successfully build one.
I have set both governors to conservative, which actually is impressive smooth, while it should be the most battery saving governor which don't lag (like Powersave).
The I/O schedulers should be set to noop which have quite good battery life, without limiting performance too much. I haven't felt a difference yet.
TCP Congestion is set to Westwood (but I think that is standard anyways).
Everything have been undervolted by 25mV. That is nothing from a battery saving perspective, but well, i'm still testing.
L Speed from @Paget96 (thank him!) here is quite nice too!
I haven't had any lags with these battery saving options yet. Everything not mentioned is just standard.
OOM Killer - Enabled
Cache Reclaiming - Minimum
Kernel Tweaks - Light
Kernel sleepers optimization - On
Battery improvement - on
Wifi sleeper - On
Flag Tuner - On (Some people on S7E have mentioned problems with this.. Lag, reboots and bootloops, but I haven't had any problems).
IO Boost - On
I have power saving mode enabled, with background data enabled and my phone is still butter smooth, Also, check for apps to add in the battery saving menu, as I have enabled some apps I don't use or need notifications from, manually.
I get around 5-6 hours SOT where 3-4 of them are Clash Royale, if not more.... Yeah, I game quite a lot.
I think that was all for now, but I will keep it updated when I get new ideas to push it to the limit.
This is still keeping the phone "smart", as you adjusts it for your needs.. Inb4 all the people saying, why buy a smartphone if you disable every feature.
hmm that would kill performance in tekken and AB2 as those games are heavy on QHD but i try it nonetheless, ty.

There are two kernels on here now.
You could ask for permission to get on the forum where the kernel is or you could simply wait. I knew it would only be a question about days, before there would be kernels on XDA too.

Exactly.
I've gone through a lot of these kinds of tweaks in the past, and generally found having to re-load apps and disable features I like having wasn't worth the small battery life increase I saw.
That said, Everyone uses their device differently though, so what doesn't work for me may work well for others. Remember that before you say I'm spouting nonsense about small battery life increases.

I certainly agree that it depends how you use your phone. But if you only rely on a few apps when display is off, like a few messaging apps, Power Nap can certainly increase your battery life. I have a idle drain around 0.0-0.2% (note, 0.0% is not the same as zero drain.) and I still receive messages, and Tasker turn everything on that I need when I need it (GPS, nfc, sync and so on). So if you just install the apps, yes it decreases functionality a lot, but by tweaking it to exactly match your usage and not limiting what you use, you can certainly get increase battery life without losing features. I use my phone the same way now as uprooted, not limiting anything I use..
Most people have a lot running in the background they don't really need or depend on or that can wait till the screen turns on.

Are notification issues still there?

Hi, I'm using EMUI 5 on my Honor 8 (FRD-L04 so still noreo ) and was wondering if we still have to set apps to ignore battery optimization to get notifications. When I first got my phone I installed all the apps and set them to ignore battery optimizations so that I could get notifications but lately my battery life is pretty ****ty, especially since these apps ignore doze. So I'd like to know if people still have to set apps to ignore doze or does notifications work like they're supposed to after so many updates? Thanks!
By ignore battery optimization you mean enabling auto-start on each app? I haven't faced any battery life decrease with it enabled.

Not that one. Like inside settings there is a page called ignore battery optimizations which helps apps bypass doze.

Any battery saving tips/tricks?

Haven't been getting good battery life on my Note 20 Ultra compared to my Note 9 and it seems to eat up about 10% every hour(heavy user playing music and YouTube videos). I have package disable pro running but greenify doesn't seem to work on the Note 20 ?, which I think helped a lot with battery on my Note 9.
It might be because I did smart switch(I will factory reset and do a fresh install later today) but if it's not, do you guys have any tips to preserver battery life?
I am currently using Optimized Power Mode and put a lot of apps, other than the ones I need notifications for, in Deep Sleep. I also used the app to Mac out the refresh rate to 96hz. You're help is much appreciated ?

Apparently it takes a few days for the system to learn your usage and optimize accordingly. But below is a few things i have done that don't effect general performance.
* Put apps into sleep or deep sleep mode if you don't use the much or require notifications from them.
* If Google play Services is causing a drain, go to the app and clear cache.
* Go to location and check out app permissions and turn on off or while in use for what you use etc.
* Go to your accounts and go through what is being synced or not, turn stuff off if you dont require it and if theres any errors being displayed this will always cause a battery drain as its constantly trying to re sync.
Hope this helps
