No Network Connection - Rogers - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just bought a Nexus S (I9020A) off of ebay. When I got it I popped in my Rogers sim card and could not find the rogers network could only see Wind mobile (302490).
I have a hunch that its the wrong baseband (Baseband version on phone is I9020XXKI1)
Is this the issue? if so should I attempt to fix it or send it back and get a refund?
android version is 4.1.2
phone is stock and not rooted.
build number: JZO54K
bootloader: I9020XXLC2

Baseband changes nothing. If you look under the battery, what is the EXACT model there?

I9020a

Open your dialer and dial *#06#. Check your IMEI. Make sure it's not 004999010640000.

Go into settings, about phone. Then where it says baseband version, it will have I9020T or I9020A plus a few other letters and numbers.

Thanks for the reply but mine is: I9020XXJK8
If it doesn't say whether it's an i9020A or i9020T, it's an i9020T.
Yours is similar to my I9020T which is show my baseband as I9020XXKI1

The baseband version you mentioned sounds like the M200KRKC1 of the korean m200 since there is no such radio like that on i9020t/9023/i9020a.
If that kc1 part is correct you got the korean m200.
Shutdown device, pull out battery, you will see model in battery slot

As long as you dont mess with the radio/bootloader you are good.. the only difference between the 3g (i902x/m200) variants is the radio baseband config.

Bootloader is generally fine but leave radio as it is that is latest for that variant.
Fyi if you want jelly bean.. there are reports that the cwm zip that i put together (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784497) works on the m200.

Ok that answers your question there... its a i9023. As per the box they just reused boxes without checking what the model actually was. The confusing part before was that the baseband version doesn't match the european/north american models.

[Q] Nexus S no network help

I have a unlocked nexus s, and I can't connect to any network
it's been rooted and boot loader unlocked
I've tried different Roms and flashed different radio band but still no luck
model number is GT-i9020A
If anyone know how I can fix this please let me know
I've tried going into *#*#4636#*#* to change the phone information settings to gsm only and made sure the radio was turn on.
Everytime the network is unknown
I had it on Rogers before and it worked fine, now I try Rogers, Fido, Telus, Wind, non of those sim cards work
thanks

I'm having the same issue. Nexus S from Telus. Do these things have a kill switch or what? Ours was stock, never rooted. Dropped connection at work unexpectedly and can't connect anymore. Rooted it now, flashed stock ROM, different radios, can't connect but can see networks.
Going to have to send away.

you lost your IMEI....theres a forum with a guide on how to repair your IMEI, if you had a restore from a rom that you had your IMEI on, its possible that restoring back to it would restore your IMEI, otherwise, you're out of luck
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852255 there is an adb command to restore it even if you lost it without a backup

[Q] 4G Coverage is spot on no 2G coverage

First post long time lurker. I recently took the latest OTA verizon update with the VRBMB1 modem and then flashed the latest cleanROM 6 R2. When I go out of 4G I have no service where I usually had either 3G or 2G. I tried flashing back to the VRBLK3 to test and I still have the same issue. Any ideas?
check your IMEI
check your IMEI number under Settings >About phone >Status... if it is zero then this link should help you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867442

Checked my IMEI and it has the 99XXXXXXXXXXXXX number in there.
Try this
You can try the re-provision code in your dialer *2767*3855# but it only works on an ICS rom
