Tried everything on various butterfly's, not rooted on stock.

Same issue I had on One X+ end up returning it.

You may try the latest boot.img from OTA.

[Q] Unrooted stock bootloop - need help

Recently my Nexus s started bootlooping.
First it was happening if the phone was powered off due to finished battery, now it happens every time i power it off.
What happens is, it bootloop on the google logo. In order to over come that i pull the battery out and turn it back on. After a few time (3-10) it would start up normally and not bootlooping.
I run stock 4.0.3, not rooted.
Anyone has a clue ?

my only suggestion is maybe a factory reset, you might have some corrupted files somewhere. but, my fear/concern is that your internal sd storage card might be going.
And if a factory reset didn't work, I think you'll have to use ODIN to flash stock 2.3.6 ...

What is lost on factory reset ? only the OS and installed apps, no SD data right ?

You think it might be a result of ICS upgrade ?

Yes factory data reset only deletes all data on your phone not the SD card.

Okay, so i did factory reset and i'm still stuck on the bootloop. Need to remove the battery and turn back on until it doesn't bootloop.
Actually what happens is the google logo appear, then for a moment it turned off and comes back again.
simms22, why do you think it's internal sd damage ?
TheMatrix246, what's ODIN ?
Guys, you think if i root and switch ROM it could be fixed ?
I would appreciate some help here a bit lost.
One last thing before you contact Samsung:
Download Nexus S [i9020T/i9023] 4.0.3 Full ROM and copy to sdcard as update.zip
Go into bootloader
Recovery
Data/factory reset
Install update.zip (reflash all files of ICS)
Reboot and hope it works out fine
If this doesn't work for you i highly doubt rooting and changing ROMs will. This will reinstall the entire OS (format and install /system), bootloader, radio, kernel and recovery.
Do i need to be root user in order to do that ?
And just to make sure, this Full ROM is for i9020T ? correct ?
(mine says only GT-i9020 on the back, bought in Carphone Warehouse in England).
Yes, i9020T. If you get 3G with Orange, and you have the SAMOLED screen, you have the i9020T (and to my knowledge, 9020 on the back signifies i9020T).
Also, i don't believe you need to be root to do that. I'm pretty sure you can flash the same version ROM from stock recovery as long as it is signed, just not older versions.
First, thanks guys for the help.
After first doing the factory reset, it seemed the bootloop happens less often. At first i tought it was solved but then it rarely (1 to 5 reboots) yet happened.
Today i installed the Full ROM Harbb suggested and so far i have no reboot issues.
But i after the installation i saw OS wasn't reset. Does it suppose to (not) happen ?

You're welcome. Also, all that file does is replace everything in the /system partition (OS). All apps besides the defaults that come from the factory are not in that partition so are not affected. Hopefully your problem is fixed permanently
But it's generally recommended to do a full wipe when switching ROMs. It could be that you encounter other problems because of the ROM change without wipe. But you could also be lucky to have no problems. Just to remind you, when you encounter something wierd.
Problem is still there ....
Hi guys,
First thanks for all the help, but the problem still there.
I did the upgrade using the Full ROM as Harbb suggested. For the first 10-12 times i rebooted (i rebooted again and again) it was alright, booting successfully ... but then it stated occasionally to bootloop and now it does it almost everytime. usually takes up to 10 times i remove the battery and start the phone so it will start up and not bootloop.
Also, I'm sorry the taking so long to respond, the nature of the problem compelling me to test it for a few days so i will know if it works or not.
Should i root the device ?
If so , how do i replace / rewrite the boot program ?
I would much appreciate any suggestion.
I had a similar problem, bootlooping, stuck on Google logo when running 4.0.3 in the end I took it back to carphone warehouse who repaired it and now it's ok. I found that heating it with a hair-dryer made it stop bootlooping (but that's what worked for me). However the repair seems to have fixed any issues and its all OK now.

My problem is i bought the device also in carphone warehouse in the UK, but i live in Israel. Meaning i will have to send it to them by air-mail.
By any chance they mentioned what was the problem ?
also did they give you a refurbished device or a new one ?

Hey, thanks for the replay.
What does is mean to flash it ?
How do i do that ?
You noted it was returned unrooted, was it rooted before ?
Again thank you all for the help.
To be honest I'm a novice to these terms but know that they unlocked it(it was not unlocked when sent off) and reinstalled os 2.3.3 after a complete wipe. Details of how to unlock and flash (install a different os) are on the forums. If you follow the forum advice precisely the instructions work. I am now running a CyberGR rom of ics 4.0.3 that runs smoother than stock ics . Again found on these forums. Hope this helps.

you tried a factory reset...I had a problem like this. and corrected after fatory reset
if that did not fix it,
Then maybe you have some problem with the ROM.
you download from here?

I'm going to redo the restore. Another issue I noticed was that I don't have a stock recovery installed

[Q] Factory reset?

So I'm S-off, Firewater, SuperSU, CWM, stock software, I have not loaded a ROM, fastboot flashed the nohbootimg firmware update, added the HTC browser, and flashed the OTA-killer.
Can I do a Factory reset without it messing something up? I'm having 3 issues that I want to see if a reset will fix, one is my alarm clock keeps turning itself off, another issue is that when I turn the phone on it seems to take a long time to "Prepare Sim card" , and the last issue is that I get a email "login failed" notice which is poping up before the phone starts seeing the data connection.
Thanks

If you are simply stock and rooted... you can factory reset using CWM without any issue.
Worst case scenario if you are backed up...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52115727
Since you have not installed a ROM I would think a factory reset would be a good first step. You will probably lose some if the customization you have done, but I wouldn't think you would lose root or anything like that. I believe a reset will just wipe the data partition ( maybe dakvik and cache as well).

Thanks! Just curious, I'm trying to learn as fast as I can , how does CWM reset differ from the the stock one?
And do you think that the CWM reset could help with the issues?

They both typically wipe the same partitions however the stock recover also resets some radio elements which is why you will always see me suggest to someone with radio issues to do a factory reset from stock recovery.

I used the reset in CWM and I'm going through the setup now, I guess we'll see if this helps. Thanks guys!!!
Well the alarm is staying on so far and I'm not getting the email login failure but I think I lost my CWM, guess I'd better reload it.
Interesting, I can't seem to get into my hboot mode? hmmmm
nevermind, I'm a dolt, forgot to turn off fast boot and I Still have CWM but when I select reboot I get a message "Root access possibly lost. Fix?" Anyone know what this could mean? Should I Pick "Yes - Fix Root" . I'd assume so, what the heck lets see what happens. lol

s-off took ota wifi is shot?

Hello,
I'm having issues with WiFi, it doesn't connect to my home network at all. This is what I did..
I sunshine rooted/s-off with success then I fastboot stock recovery then took the ota. That went well, but the WiFi doesn't connect. Should I reinstall tarp and see if it connects or maybe flash the radio??
Thanks for your time.

You aren't the first. Can you backup and factory reset first to see if that fixes the problem?
I have a backup already, can I factory reset and still have my apn settings??
I'm still on stock recovery, should I flash twrp now??

No...Stock recovery is best for factory reset.
@dottat
So factory reset in stock recovery?
I'll still have my apn settings intact? Sorry I've only messed with a Sprint HTC one m7 ONLY on CDMA with no 4G LTE when I was on Guam. Now I'm afraid I'll lose settings I need to get it functioning properly.

I am having some wifi issues as well. I just tried a factory reset and the issue still remains. I will try doing the full RUU tomorrow, but off to bed for me for now.
My wifi issue is that it connects but constantly drops the connection. I haven't been able to make sense of it yet. I'm at work most of the time and this is where I notice it. I'm not sure if it is only here or happens on other routers, but I will keep trying to track it down.
Ok, I've tried to reflash stock recovery and redo what I did to take the OTA, but now it's just a RED triangle when it tries to install....
What am I doing wrong?
What/where can I find the stock recovery?
Also, I can't get into stock recovery also, to try and factory reset.
Also to add:
When I take the OTA is the phone still rooted? I remember vaguely that I wasn't able to use root apps at all, so maybe that's my issue with stock recovery.
Thing I am most worried about*maybe I'm overreacting* is carrier settings, when I factory reset or maybe doing a RUU, so guys please enlighten me about this.

Flashed my Honor 8 back to STOCK but the NFC and the Smart key don't work

Hello
I've tried a couple of custom roms for my honor 8 but I really liked the stock one, so I've flashed my phone back to a stock rom, everything is working except the NFC and the smart key
Do you have an idea on how to fix this ?
I've tried reflashing with the stock recovery but same result
Have your bootloader locked and no root.
Have you also factory reset?

Try to go back to MM, maybe B131. I bet it will work fine again. Do a factory reset after each update. Don't bother setting up anything before the final firmware version.
