Just figured I would chime in an leave a few comments about my new Skyrocket.
Background: I am a long time iPhone user and this is my first android device. I came from an Iphone 4. You know what really pissed me off about the iphone4? When the iphone4 came out and you couldnt upload 720p vidoes to youtube (they later fixed this, but it took a while). A-JOKE if I ever saw one.
When the iphone 4s came out it was a huge disappointment in terms of specs. Apple seems to be struggling with rolling out the best and latest and greatest.
Getting used to android didnt take long. I got all tingly inside with all the extra freedom and choices!
Samsung makes a the best screens and it shows. The screen size & 4G LTE speeds are all you need to forgot about your iphone4 or iphone4s. Cause lets face it, the 4s was a money maker. Not a real hardware upgrade, right SIRI?
Pros vs iphone4:
The first thing you will notice the screen. BAM in you face its huge. Its bright, its just eats the iphone screen for lunch.
The 2nd thing you will notice is how fast the phone zips around menus, loads programs etc.
The 3rd thing you will see is the 4g LTE speeds are what phones needed 3 yrs ago!
Good form factor. Very thin, Huge Screen
More Freedom and choices with android customization.
Plays Mkv videos files without hassle
Easier to transfer videos/pics via USB
Home screen Widgets
Its nice to be ahead of the TECH curve instead of 1yr behind
I can take my battery out.
I can put a MicroSD card in. No way? I am still in shock
Cons:
The only bad thing about the skyrocket is battery life. The truth of the matter is you find yourself using the phone more vs the small/slow iphone4. I am seeing a full day with avg/normal use. When I cant put it down the battery drains rather fast. With a charger at work, home, car its not that big of deal for me cause power is always near by as I dont travel for work much at all.
IRIS isn't as accurate and advanced as SIRI (YET). But most people I talk to who have siri only use it to send text msgs or compose emails. Android has the built into the your home screen. Asking SIRI drunk questions for humor lasts what 15mins?
No ICS
I am sure this isnt all the pros/cons.. But its what Ive noticed in a week of ownership. Enjoy my post
Thanks for reading

Enjoy your skyrocket mom have a iPhone and she's always asking how I get my phone HIGHLY customizable once MIUI comes out. It will make you love Android!

Ics is coming..the skyrocket and vivid were both confirmed by att for ics. And so far the only att devices that were confirmed. Also remember this device is still very new. We will be seeing 3500mah extended batterys soon im sure, and theres the power skin. That is like having a second battery
yah I saw the powerskin, I am not a fan of the rubber case.
I like the raw feel and a thin phone that slips in/out pockets without sticking.. Plus i dont like the lip u get on the front screen when u put a case on a phone. Its in the way for me
I emailed Seido already asking for an update. A larger plastic back cover I can deal with for 2x battery life.
Once you start rooting and flashing roms you will be addicted. I used to have a iPhone and I gotta say there's nothing exciting about iOS. Android just makes you feel good inside. And just to keep your spirits up, I used to get 9 hours of battery use in a single charge. That turned to 14. And now its at 18-20 hours a charge depending on usage of course. Btw I am rooted as well.

What ROM are you running now? What root kit did you use?
Totally agree with this, the battery life is the only con i can see because all other will be fixed soon. I had all the iphone until the except the 4S, i was literally a fanboy of Appple but now, i put my big shiny LTE GS2 in anybody who has an iphone and all they have to say is WOW!. I am not an android fanboy, Apple and their stupid JAIL policies make matters worse for them. Even the jailbreak could come close to what android does stock.
For battery life, i get a decent life because in rooted and allow Juicedefender ultimate to underclock my CPUs...on full charge i get about 24-30 hours of mild use without disabling wifi or sync
EDIT: And for siri, **** SIRI get voice actions plus...its a little buggy but it's much better than siri or iris
What Software do you have? 2.3.5 or 2.3.6?

Speaktoit Assistant is by far the best Siri-like app out there. I wont call it a clone because it was out BEFORE Siri was released.
Also Vlingo's In-Car feature that reads your texts to you and allows you to naturally speak out your reply is a feature you simply cannot do on Siri.

I am running SKYROCKETEER 2.0 Alpha 1, which can be found in the development section.
If its your first time I suggest you search and read a lot or some bad things may happen. But dont let this discourage you. The guys here are helpful
I also came from the Iphone, and I have to concur about the battery. I have installed a different ROM and that did help, but I hate having to constantly monitor whats running, battery life, usage, check this app, that app..etc. to ensure I'm getting the best battery life. Other than that...i love it.

Don't need to...it will kill the process. If you really want to, you can install task killers or juice defender for battery. My last iPhone was the 3gs and decided to try other OS before the rumoured iPhone 4 was official. The Nexus One did it for me and have been here since.

I am creating this thread to enable people to post ideas about how current phones can be improved. Given enough time with ideas from many people, we could inevitably get ideas into names and specs for future phones!
I have also created a poll allowing people to provide quick feedback on whether you think this thread is a good idea.
I have posted this thread in the ( I think) most appropriate place sorry if it isn't.
Please contribute here while abiding by the XDA rules. Spammers who want to reach the 10 post minimum will probably be 'disciplined' by a advanced member. This is not my fault.
please thank me using the button if you appreciate my efforts.
1) Great batter Life: at least 35 hours with heavy use.
2) smooth graphical Interface and a good quick Processor
3) Great Device device support with very timely non delayed OTAs
4) fully working AOSP or whatever is currently available at the time.

There was a concept phone a while back called the Mozilla Seabird I think. It had some awesome features like dual pico projectors that could be for the screen or a virtual keyboard, and a built in removable bluetooth that could be used as a pointer. The demonstration video is neat, definitely worth checking out.

Agreed on the battery life. It seems that while everything else gets improved battery life gets worse and worse. I say it should be 50 hrs with heavy use. Everything else is actually pretty good so far, the only thing I can think of is having a better GPU so we can play PS2 games xD.
It is usually the battery that consumes most of the cost of the devices being pushed out. Ibelieve it was 70% of the cost.
So I've look around the google and can't seem to find a comparison of each phones battery life, they only mention stuff on paper like talk time/stand by time. I am looking for a battery test that compares both devices. Anyone here have compared both of these phones? Is the 200mah bump a difference or none at all because of more power hungry hardware?

Im not really sure. And it also happens to matter that how you use it will affect battery.
But use gsmarena to full compare specs and decide yourself.
I would say the nexus 5 but OS code matters too. So if you are running 4.4 you will get much better battery life.

That's my dilemma, because when I look it up the web I only see spec comparisons but no actual benchmarks.
I hope someone can make a battery test using both devices running a battery test app.
If your looking to choose a device it would be n5 obviously but for comparison it would be best if you did a hands on and provided details for this test. (It obviously hasnt been compared yet so you should compare the two I mean someones gotta do it right?)
Now I don't have either phone so if you need a user to provide testing help you will have to ask around.
Have fun!
Dear Lg Pro 2 users..please help decide my next phone

I had the note 3 for about 3 days, thought it was boarding and not impressed with the size. I love the GP2, I like the size better, I like the knock screen I like the buttons on the back. The screen is fabulous and LG did a good job with the software.
I also have the GS5, it is smaller so I take if golfing and to the moves because it fits in the cup holder, but I like the GP2 better.

I did not compare the camera with the Note 3 but there are a lot of articles out there that have, you should be able to do a search and find that. I do know that I like the camera a lot, but I do more business on my phone than pictures.
My phone has never gotten hot I use it a lot for browsing and playing music, reading books and taking notes, never over heats. as to the battery, my phone came with two and an external charger. I believe the battery is better than the N3 and I have never had to use two batteries in one day. I do rotate them everyday so I never plug my phone in, I just replace it with the fresh one that charged in the charger. I am very impressed with the battery life even when it use it as my GPS in my car I do not plug it in because the life of the battery is so good.

Can't compare to a Note 3 as I haven't tried it, but I came from a Note 2, which was my favourite phone ever...until I got the Pro 2. Beautiful screen and some genuinely useful software and tricks built in. It just works without being annoying.
I can confirm the battery life on the Pro2 is excellent (if I'm not doing masses of gaming, just checking social media, listening to music, and maybe reading for an hour with Google Books then there's *easily* a day's worth of juice in the battery.
The camera is better than anything I''ve ever seen before. Seriously impressed with it and barely bother taking my dedicated camera out of the house anymore!
No overheating here either, and I play a lot of heavy games on it.
If you like the pen on your Note then a Pro 2 might not be the way to go, but I didn't really use mine and don't miss it at all.
But as alwayslearning points out, there are plenty of comparisons out there to read up on...

I've read some of the G3 reviews today and it sounds like a great phone...but the only thing better than the Pro2, seems to be the screen, to be honest. But that sounds like a DAMN GOOD screen!
For the price, if you can get it for less than £400 on eBay I'd go for the Pro 2.
Hey guys,
I am about to upgrade my phone from an s3 and am having to choose between the m8, z2 and g3.
I want a phone that will give me a long lasting experience (won't start lagging in a 6 months), good battery life (6-7 hours screen time on one charge, if possible), decent camera, and good audio through headphones. I don't mind putting on a battery case in the future if I need to but would rather avoid it.
To me the m8 is the most attractive phone out of the bunch but its specs are a little behind, relatively. Also, I am not so sure about its battery life and, due to its shape, a battery case would make it less attractive than a z2 with battery case. The biggest plus for the m8 is the feeling that the phone will continue to perform optimally for a good while after the purchase date. Should I go with my gut feeling?
The z2 is a powerhouse of specs. However, the user reviews just don't seem to be on par with the m8. I have read issues with lag and heating. On paper, it seems like an easy pick. Is the reality different?
The g3 is blowing people away but I have read that the screen is a battery drainer. That is still bearable but the occurrence of heating issues is the scary part. I am afraid of getting a phone that is amazing for the first month or two but can't last. Is the praise simply hype that will die out soon or is it a sturdy phone?
What do you guys suggest?
Please no fanboy wars. Just your objective suggestions would be much appreciated. I plan to make the decision by tomorrow.

It seems like the z2 & g3 would be your go-to's here. If the only issue with the g3 for you is possible battery drain, it seems like the best bet. Besides, you can just adjust the brightness as you see fit.
