[Q] Root for Skyrocket with Jelly Bean and Mac - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hello,
This is my very first post so sorry if this is creating a new thread that shouldn't exist. I have a Macbook Pro and I recently got the official Jelly Bean from Rogers (it's like AT&T in Canada) for my Galaxy S II LTE. I want to root my phone but would also like to have the option to unroot it in case I need to turn my phone in for the warranty.
Can someone give me a simple (n00b) step-by-step explanation on how to root my phone?
Thanks

Questions belong in q&a just for future notice and always read read the stickies and use search to avoid being flamed

like hechoen says in the other thread, use Heimdall, or borrow a pc, just takes a few minutes.
im uploading a flashable deodexed rooted w/mohans kernelk, will be done soon.
to return to stock ics via cwm/twrp(no odin needed) read my howto restore to stock guide, good for warranty repair when having a dead usb port, driver issues and for mac users

Best way to root with Mac is throwing it off a bridge then get a pc.

I am sick and tired of looking

I own a ROGERS s2 LTE sgh-i727r it has ics and i want to root it so I can use titanium and or cwm to perhaps install cyanogen
Why can I not find simple dam instructions on how to do it for my exact device? I had it rooted prior to the ics update but now the simple 1 click root programs don't work.
I hate all this and just want to find a simple exe to help me root so i can go forward. I know about comps (I am a university comp science student) and the truth is I just want simplicity for this.
Can someone link me or direct me to USEFUL info plz. Hell I can't even find rogers devices on this site. Only a at&t skyrocket similar mdoel

It seems like the AT&T Skyrocket and the Rogers shg-i727r are interchangeable. Follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427268

Root question for Verizon Galaxy S3 I535

All I want to do is root my GS3, so I can have access over what apps phone home. I'm tired of all the bloatware and adds, so I think it's time to just bite the bullet and root. As of right now I don't want to flash any roms, I just want control over my phone. I guess regardless of if I stop at root or flash custom roms, then my warranty has been compromised, so I might as well just go all out???. I worry about the warranty. Every phone I've ever had I've had to warranty at least once or twice. I've read TONS of posts where Verizon doesn't check for root, they just care if you send the malfunctioning phone back. This has prompted me to root and enjoy my phone.
I'm coming from a Fascinate, which I rooted when it was on 2.2, but after the 2.3 update it was much more complicated, so I didn't persue it.
I understand Jelly Bean will be coming out soon, would you guys recommend rooting now or waiting until JB comes out?
I found this guide, which looks like I just need to follow sections 1 and 2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709
I also found other guides, root with odin and root without odin, what's the difference, why 2 methods?
I honestly wouldn't hold your breath for jelly bean coming to verizon sgs3 soon. Verizon is absolutely terrible at releasing updates. The Galaxy Nexus doesn't even have JB yet!! I would just root now and go for it. You'll be able to flash a custom JB rom wayyyy before verizon ever gets the official JB out.
You should read the guide about posting in the proper forums

The Odin method came first, right away when the phone was released. The without odin method is probably preferable, because you don't have to worry about putting custom software on your phone (the odin method uses a rooted image - the other uses an exploit in the software, I believe). In either case, you should be able to Odin back to stock unrooted if you ever needed to use your warranty. If you decide to root, you should probably stop any future updates from Verizon, as that can cause weird things to happen.
Hope this reply is helpful.
if you have a mac or linux follow section 1 of my guide...If your using windows then follow section 2. Really simple!!!!!!
you should root now, do it before VZW changes the phone or modifies the bootloader in such a way that you cant unlock it with the current method.
This is a good guide

Pick the method you are most comfortable with. Personally I don't like using tools that are just one click because I like to know what I am doing to the phone step by step but some people love the simplicity of one click or tool based rooting.
The vzw Sgt3 casual tool has stuck me gold. I do believe it's the best thing since sliced bread

[Q] Question about rooting Galaxy Note II (AT&T SGH-I317)

Downloaded the toolkit from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052779
I have the AT&T SGH-I317... unfortunately, the toolkit lists the Android version of my phone as 4.1.1, but my phone automatically downloaded and installed 4.1.2 the first time I used it the other day. My question is, do I need to wait for the toolkit to be updated with 4.1.2 for my specific phone, or alternatively, would it be safe to use the 4.1.1 version in the toolkit, or use one of the other ones listed as version 4.1.2.
I'm perfectly happy to wait if necessary. Don't want to take any chances of messing up my new phone. This will be my first rooting or unlocking of any kind. I'm an adept PC user but phones are new territory for me.
So, if someone knows how I should proceed, I'd be very grateful for the assistance. I'm asking this here because I'm a new member and can't yet post in the developer forums.
Thanks!
I haven't tried the toolkit since the latest update. I know the Sprint version has CF-Auto root. Check your thread for that one. It worked for me after the 4.1.2 update with no issues.

Is there a simple one click wham bam root method? I'm using a verizon network. I kmow everyone knows how to do it I'm a noob with this phone so please be nice thanks a lot in advance-

This is the only way to root 4.1.2 as of now
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439
No easy method so far seeing as no one has yet dumped a stock 4.1.2 image for the devs to work with (prob since devs aren't buying a new s3 this late in the game anymore)
Thanks guys

Well it depends, compared to getting root on the droid x, HTC incredible, and the bionic, root on the gs3 is cake walk regardless of the method you use. Just be glad you don't have to make a Linux live CD.
Brand New S3
I'm in the same boat and and just got a new S3. I tried using the guide someone else posted and bricked my phone, luckily I was able to get it replaced. I was very meticulous and read the guide over and watched some videos before trying it myself. Maybe I screwed up somewhere but I'm afraid to try it again. I did find this thread with a method that seems pretty simple [HOWTO] [ROOT] [ODIN] No Tripping Flash Counter - Root + [TWRP] - Updated 03.14.2013 but I haven't posted on XDA enough to be able to clarify some of my questions on the forum. To me it sounds like I should just be able to use any of the images on that page, then use EZ-Unlocker and EZ-Recovery to unlock the bootloader then install CWM.
I don't want to hijack your thread but I thought you might be interested in this method. Assuming it is as simple as it sounds. Maybe someone can give us some insight?

[Q] How to root Galaxy S 4G without a PC?

Hello everyone!
As you can tell, I'm new here and was just wondering if it was possible to root the Samsung Galaxy S 4G SGH-T959v without a computer. I found this thread but it was a dead-end.
The reason I want to root without a PC is because my phone's USB port doesn't work. Of course, rooting is not necessary and I might as well just deal with the stock apps and gingerbread, but I'd prefer to have ICS (at least), and Jelly Bean looks awesome so I'm tempted.
I know it's possible to root the Vibrant without a PC, has anyone tried to root this one that way as well? I could try some rooting method for another phone but I'm afraid I might brick it and have to restore using USB port (which doesn't work).
Thanks in advance for any help.

Sorry I can't answer your question but I would suggest going right to Kit Kat once you've rooted it (rather than ICS or JellyBean). This SlimSaber build is working great for me so far, only GPS is not working for some but I think the developer is real close to getting that resolved. KitKat is intended for low-RAM devices such as this one. Good luck!

Its not possible to root this phone without the USB port. Even if it were, recovering from the inevitable first time brick would be impossible.
