I have messed up with my mobile and power button is not working properly. Even if I just touch the button, power menu appears and my restarts. Some service guys said there is a problem with the motherboard.
I found on this THREAD to map hardware keys for android phone. I did install Buttonremapper but power button option is not available for mapping.
Are there any other applications available?
I am also planning to sell this phone. Anybody interested?
If it's a loose contact, it can b solved by gently hitting the phone's side on a table/wall.

There is no loose contact
I had given that mobile for repair. The first time they repaired and later replaced the button itself but the problem persisted. Service center person mentioned there's a problem with the motherboard. Adequate power supply is reaching for the power button. It is even damaging the phone battery. I have already replaced my phone battery twice.

Hello there,
I have a problem with my Galaxy S3. The Power Button is damaged, and doesn't work how it should. Sometimes there is no reaction after pushing the button, or it sticks fast. And there is the Problem, when pressing the Power Button for 8 Seconds, the Phone reboots -.-
So sometimes while just using my phone it reboots itself because of the damaged power button. I found one kind of solution, with Root Explorer I changed the functions of the Keys Home Button und Power Button with the files /system/usr/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl and the other one qwerty.kl
I changed just the Names HOME and POWER, now my Power Button = Home Button, and my Home Button = Power Button.
And here is the Problem:
There is still the Function after pressing the Power Button for 8 Seconds, it reboots. How can I deactivate this Function? Where can I find it, or is there another Solution for this Problem?
I bought my Phone from a friend without a bill, and its rooted + CyanogenMod. So if someone asks... I can not let it get repaired by Samsung.
Thanks for your help and sorry for my bad english.
Hi,
Go to a service center. You need it fixed and it's not that expensive. Or find the parts and a YouTube guide and fix it yourself. Not much you can do otherwise.
Good luck!
Hi, I just noticed that the power button on my Z3 is not working properly now, most likely due to the excessive usage. I could still trigger the power button if I really want by pressing the volume up and the power button together, but that will trigger the long press menu instead of just turning off the screen. I had figured out a way to turn on the double click to wake up so I can live with it, however I couldn't quickly close the screen and put it in my pocket.
Does anyone has similar problems? If so how did you fixed it? Sending it to Sony repair spot will cost me about 3 weeks and it will be my last option. I live in NYC, but the Sony Store here couldn't do the repair work.
Thanks in advance!
hardware problem you need to send it back to fix it. in the mean time you can add either one of these to your homescreen to lock the device

Hello,
I have problem with my S6 (64GB) with Back Button. From yesterady it has been pressing this button continuously . Before that it was like once or twice a day, but I didn't care. Restart is not a solution. I tried to wipe cache memory, but it didn't work as well. The phone is completely undamaged, buttons are clean, 2months old, from mobile operator. First day after purchase I had to repaired it, because it was overheating and they replaced motherboard. Do you know guys some solution?

Thank you.
Have you tried booting into safe mode? That will disable any 3rd party apps that might be causing the problem.
1 Power the device off
2 Press and hold the Power key.
3 When the device vibrates; release the Power key and immediately hold down the Volume Down key
4 Keep pressing the Volume down key until the device boots up completely.
5 If successful, Safe Mode will appear on the device screen in the bottom left corner.
I have exactly the same issue. Is your knox 0x1?
Had that problem, software problem you need to restore the firmware, download your phones software from sammobile.com and flash it to your phone and it should fix the problem.
I got a samsung a10e the back button keeps backing up by itself how can i fix it
My N5 has a hardware fault where the phone thinks the power button is permanently pressed, so as soon as you try and boot it, it turns off again.
I am able to get to fastboot, by holding down the volume down button and power. But from there, I cannot boot to recovery or normal system boot.
I have been unable to fix this, and I really want to get some of my app data off.
Is there a way of extracting a backup somehow from fastboot?
I'm guessing no, as you can't access via adb through fastboot can you?
Any ideas gratefully received.
Did you try removing the motherboard and cleaning the area around the power button with alcohol? I had a sticky power button too and removed the motherboard, applied a lot of pressure to the power button as I pressed and released it for a couple of minutes and this solved the issue.
I had this issue, took apart the phone, didn't fix the issue. Read a thread were multiple owners said smacking the phone on a hard surface on the power button side fixed it.
So I was hesitant but after a few hard taps, it fixed and haven't had the issue for 4 months so far. I also pressed the power button a few times hard.

Hi. Yes, I have tried all those, no joy.
I'm resigned to the fact the phone is bricked.
So, given that, do I have any options to get the app data off?
Merry Christmas by the way!
I suggest getting a quote to replace the power button.
Wonder if I can desolder it, and use a paperclip to short the switch connection?
There are 3 connections for the motherboard for the power switch and it looks pretty easy to de-solder according to youtube videos I watched. I'm not good at soldering so I had my local repair shop replace it with a new one.
Hello everyone,
I was flashing MIUI official on my nexus 5, and I was in bootloader, and I was just simply press power button then devices just turned off and
wont start again. after turned off, device dont start using power button, then I connect power source, device just started and rebooting again and again, without power source device dont start, and when it starts on power source, device just rebooting continuously,
Service center said you need to change mother board.
It is necessary to change board or this is just a problem of power button stuck inside
Any sujection?
I suggest removing the motherboard. Then, quickly press and release the power button several times in a row using more pressure than normal. Not too much pressure as you don't want to cause any further damage.
If that doesn't solve the problem, it could be a battery issue.

I have not flashed my phone but have kept it up to date. I have version 6.01 build MMB29Q. I have had the issue during the last two weeks with it restarting but then just going off again. I have a separate Nexus 5 I user for parts for these situations. I replaced the motherboard got it up and running, everything seemed fine but then the power would just go off for no reason. The only way I could get it to restart was by holding the volume down for 10 seconds and then selecting the power button. The difference with this motherboard is that it will at least start up. I did change the battery as well and that did not make any difference. At this point I am thinking about flashing with a different OS to see if that fixes it. I unfortunately do not have a fix but I am at least at a point where I know how to keep it functional. Any further fix suggestions would be appreciated. I think my next step will be to flash it with a different OS to see if this issue persists.

I am confused, its battery issue or power button issue, I will try to repair my phone in shop not in service center
Chances are that you have the same problem I had with the power button.
My N5 had this behavior and was about to be replaced when I found something that worked. Try this: press and hold the power button several times with more pressure than usual. If no luck, smack it a few times (no kidding) in a table - I suggest you to do it with a cover. The main problem is with the switch soldered on the motherboard and the above steps is to 'unlock / release' the internal parts of this switch - the main culprit.
Several people had this issue and the spank showed to be useful: LINK
My N5 is working just fine, almost two weeks now. Good luck!
