Not too many photos are out but I like the look of our One X better than the new One. It looks too much like the new Sprint EVO and the BB Z10, both of which I find ugly lol. If i could get One internals in the One X body, I'd be all over it. Let's see what Samsung has to offer.
What do you guys think of the One?

I like the look of the One, but I still prefer the look of the One X. I'm not a huge fan of the dual speaker look, and I'm definitely not a fan of the missing multitasking button, especially since it was just done to make room for the stupid HTC logo.
I actually like the looks of the One. Its more square than the OneX. The camera is recessed instead of sticking out like a nipple. All hardware components have been giving a significant bump (unlike the differences between the OneX and the OneX+). I like the looks of the white/silver version but the black looks nice too. It seems HTC strayed away from the polycarbonite backing.
Ill be getting One...
Edit: I also like the flip case and the kickstand case that HTC are rolling out with it.
Yeah I actually use that multitask button lol. The new layout makes it look like the HTC logo is the home button lol. Maybe it'll be different on the ATT version. I really don't wanna have to stare at a big huge ATT logo however....

Here's another problem - AOSP ROMs won't support the usage of the Home Button for Multitasking out of the box. It could eventually be coded around for the specific device branch, but it's yet-another headache for developers that doesn't have any good reason to exist.
I won't be getting one.. Not only will it be released before my contract, but my HOX is broken, and I just ordered my Nexus 4 today..
So done with carrier branded phones, and done with HTC. While the HOX is one of the best phones out there, the company can just rot. They don't care about anyone but themselves and their money.
And knowing HTC, the new One will be superseded in 4-7 months time - and that would really pi** me off if I bought it.

double tapping home screen, but i believe this was just mentioned. it does give a lot of functions to the home button, but this is what's happened over the years with iPhones, too. I actually prefer it to having a number of buttons, as long as it doesn't get to the point of sacrificing available functions.
as for which one i liek better, i think they both have an interesting look. I'd be quite interested in seeing how the One feels in hand. I think the aluminum body may give it the slight edge in looks, but the feel of the HOX is tremendous, to me.

My biggest issue is that:
1. HTC is being inconsistent from generation to generation
2. HTC is further differentiating itself from pure stock Android for absolutely no good reason
wow i love my htc one xl , but this one is just amazing i think htc did it right this time, at least in the design, hardware etc.

If HTC was the manufacturer instead of LG, what changes to the device do you think they would make? Do you think it would make a huge difference?
Doubt it would be stock android and would prolly have a locked bootloader.
Honestly it wouldnt exist because of the Sensation.

It would look exactly like every other HTC phone, would be made with metal (I actually like high quality plastic better as it can absorb shock better), and would be running sense. Probably would have a locked bootloader also.
(I have nothing against htc phones, I have one myself, just stating my honest observations)
HTC already manufactured G2 (with keyboard).

First, I'm guessing that LG was looking for a U.S. carrier to sell the O2X and couldn't find one. With the Sensation, SGS2, Bionic and all of their variants coming, the U.S. carriers probably didn't need another high-end dual core phone. Especially from a company new to high-end phones. T-Mobile probably said if you strip out the UI we'd be able to find a place for it in our G-line. I'm sure part of the deal revolved around T-Mobile carrying the G-Slate. I'm also sure that LG would have rather sold the O2X as is rather than having to develop and support another version of s/w.
Carriers don't just randomly pick phones one-by-one across vendors. They sign multi-year commitments worth hundreds of millions of dollars. That's why LG and Motorola find it so difficult to place their phones. LG was vanquished to the low-end and Motorola sold its soul to VZW. Trust me, there's little passion and emotion at the HQ of any carrier when it comes to an individual phone unless said phone can make them lots and lots of money (EG: iPhone). It's all about the Benjamin's.
So if HTC made a dual core successor to the G2 I'm guessing it would be Sensation-like spec wise without Sense. I for one would camp outside a T-Mobile store to get one.
Have u seen all the issues the G2 has!

Exactly... Other than the hd2s build quality. I hated my htcs.. Hardware issues left and right with them.. Even the n1 used a cheap screen and had mad dust..
I don't know why people complain so much... Build quality is amazing on the g2x, I've had no reboots like others and the bleed issue isn't a issue for me.
Trust me people, there are good ones and I got one... Actually 2 with no issues..
If HTC made the G2x it would have...
A. only came with a 1250 mAh battery (they skimp on battery size BAD).
B. it would have sucked any extended battery you bought for it dry in mere hours.
C. it wouldn't have had a Gorilla Glass screen (HTC uses a glass that they make which is supposed to be as good as GG, but fails miserably).
D. it would have had that same earpiece speaker that every single other HTC device has (don't get me wrong I've always liked HTC designs, and I know they're attempting to BRAND their phones... but it's getting old IMO).
and
E. We wouldn't have vanilla Android (or Google Dark Ale as they like to call it) on our G2x, we'd have Sense UI. And while Sense may well be the best OEM launcher going, I still prefer not to skin Android and just let us choose our own launcher instead. Every skin creates some lag IMO. With my vanilla Android G2x, I've experienced zero lag to date.
And loving it!

If you like speed, play games and don´t care about sense go for one s. If you can´t stand sense or you aren´t going to play or give the phone an intense use go for nexus.
Well this phone is more fully featured and cm10 seems to have a good future on this phone so I don't see why not but the nexus is nicer looking and more compatible with things such as os updates, apps, games

Many roms have control over the size of the bar. Just compared gnex to wife's one s. It (gnex) is wider (much) and about the same length (notification areas lined up at the top). No sexual references here lol One s does have a brighter screen though.

Oh haha didn't know about the nav bar size changing.
Sent from my HTC One S using the XDA-Developers app
Already have a GNex and just received my HTC One S and the length of the actual screen minus Gnex nav bar is exactly the same. If you factor in the GNEx nav bar the GNex is longer. The plus side to that is with custom ROM's or an app you can modify the nav bar buttons to do whatever you like plus add about 6 buttons instead of just 3. You can make it do it's main function plus a long press function so really it is 2 actions per button. I added a power button on my nav bar to turn the screen off or power off to save on using the actual power button. You can also make the nav bar disappear with the GNex and it disappears for when playing games or videos. I think this is a major plus compared to the one S. Also the One S width is significantly thinner. So the size difference is they are both exactly the same length and the GNex is much wider. The Navigation bar customizations are really handy and make the GNex the clear winner! The HTC screen is mainly only brighter cause of all the bright white menu screens. Also you can modify the color settings with the GNex to look beautiful or the way you like and it actually makes the GNex brighter.
The bottom line is the only things that are better than the GNex is the specs and the camera. The size of the Gnex and the software wins over I think. By the time the One S gets Jellybean the GNex will be getting Key lime Pie, so the One S will always be a step behind so if i had to choose between the 2 my choice would be the GNex hands down. New customizations for camera in jellybean make the camera good enough for me!
I'll trade my One S for an galaxy nexus...

Hello One X users ,
Just wonderin what I might've missed out when I decided to get the SGS3. One X seemed pretty tempting at the time.
So how's development, the community and the phone itself?
The community is certainly more close than other forums like the GS3 and One S, One X Intl. etc.
Development is good unless you are on the latest AT&T 2.20 software, which a previous exploit used to root has been patched, so if you are on 2.20 you can't root yet.
Phone itself is awesome, awesome camera, stock software etc. IMO, the GS3 touchwiz is foul, Sense 4.0 is much more elegant.

Development is solid. It's a good community and the amount of updates and roms isn't overwhelming, yet you can find decent improvements every week.
In terms of the phone, the One X takes the cake with it's screen alone. The Super LCD is superior to the SGS3's pentile AMOLED. It actually rivals iPhone's retina display, despite the larger size.
I think what made me decide between the two was when I tried out Flipboard on both phones. The One X was sharper, smoother and faster. The SGS3 seemed fast when using Touchwiz, but Flipboard was jittery and blurry.
But of course, everyone has different tastes. I do miss the removable battery and expandable memory, and extra RAM would be nice.
I'm still blown away by the screen mostly

Speaking of which, how's rooting for Canadian Carriers?
Coming from a few Samsung devices I miss having a screen that doesn't scratch spontaneously, the microSD slot, USB OTG, TouchWiz codec support, and task650 (super smooth, stable, complete AOKP).
The screen is nice, the camera is great. Sense 4 is growing on me. Still too much change for the sake of change for my taste, but light years ahead of sense 3.x, and something you have to get used to if you want the best battery life and camera.

I completely agree. My girlfriend has an S3 and the blue tint is incredibly noticeable to me. The One X has the best screen of any device I've ever owned, by far.
I'm not thrilled with HTC or at&t nowadays.
I'm considering switching to Sprint within the next week.
But all the mass marketing doesn't warm me to the SG3 either.

After owning an iPhone for 4 years straight, I vowed to never purchase a phone with a physical home button again, and I will stick to it! Samsung dropped the ball with build quality on the SIII, anyone who argues in favor of it over a HOX simply hasn't had enough time with both devices.

PowerAMP with Beats Audio, and Google Maps Navigation, JB overall is awesome as well, but stock AT&T Rom is kind of disappointing, that's why I rooted
The only thing that's strange is Google Voice comes up with an error message when setting it up but still seems to work, it says my Voice Mail service is "My Carrier" instead of "Google Voice" no matter what Rom I am on, this did not happen on my Inspire 4G

I bet most people are, it has a lot of tweaks, more tweaks then any Rom I ever tried on DHD, well I tried ViperDHD but it was a little slow, but I can see why, Its not as powerful as the One X, Viper XL runs so smooth and stable though, I didn't used to like sense to much but Sense 4+ is really nice, I wonder what Sense 5 would be like

I normally wouldn't participate in such a thread to say just one word really so I'll write the rambling run on sentence to validate replying to myself but really other then the hella cool people that make up this one xl forum and don't chastise me for being "different" and holding the utmost patience with my some times pretty messed up mental state I would have to say that my favorite is the screen.

I like the camera and its such s huge step up from my HTC EVO design. Which has a dead forum. This phone is amazing and has such great dev support.

The active community for this phone and (this is more Android/CM in general) how incredibly open the platform is compared to other options..
I also like the way they removed the search button and added the recent apps/menu button, it's a lot more stylish!

KingBeatZ audio mod with stock Beats. When I get a new phone eventually, more than likely I'll keep this phone and use it basically as an iPod because music just sounds fantastic. And ViperXL 3.2.1 is just pure amazing, but everyone knows that by now. And don't even get me started on the screen.
Dislike? No expandable storage or removable battery. Also, 1 gig of RAM isn't a whole lot.
I have always been a big fan of sense but sense 4+ running on viperxl is just amazing. Its mostly the flip clock that I like. The time, date, and weather are all there in a very neat readily accessible place on the home screen.. Battery life is excellent about 20hrs for me. And the camera and screen are about the best I have seen on any phone in its class. I had just bought a camera before I bought my phone but now that I have my phone my camera stays in its case. Hadn't used it in about 6months now.
I would say that there isn't much about this phone that I dislike, except maybe the lack of removable storage. I don't have a whole lot of big file such as music on my phone so 10 gigs is plenty for me. Also I've heard that with removable storage its easier to attain s-off

It's the not the removable batt that bothers me it's that I know they could stick a lot bigger battery in here if they really wanted ...
