My girlfriend dropped her phone and broke the screen. I can't see anything on the phone's screen but the phone works and boots up fine and also connects to the PC. She's asking me if I could download some of the SMS messages that had pictures attached. Is there a way to explore the filesystem via the PC and save the SMS attachments? The is completely stock. Any suggestions on this would be great.

I shattered my screen. I am thinking of having my phone replaced, but i need to get some very important texts and number off the phone. ones that I don't have saved elsewhere. Is there a way to retrieve those from the phone using file explorer? What about my call logs?
thanks in advance
shane
Look for a software called "mymobiler" and access your phone through the PC.
i cannot seem to get mymobiler to recognize and connect to my phone. am i missing something?
My Fuze's screen bit the dust. The phone works and I can receive calls, but the screen is 99% dark with some thin grey-blue stripes on the right-hand side that almost look like a bar-code. Not too worried because I bought a Tilt2. However, I need to know how I can get my contacts and texts off my Fuze to my Tilt2. Ideas?
get mymobiler connect the fuze to your computer run mymobiler and you should be able to see your screen from there... granted i hope you already have the program installed on your phone.
On the other hand if you sync your phone regularly, you should be able to pull out your contact list from outlook and sync it in when u put your tilt 2 in. text wise, if you're lucky you have a PIM backup in your microsd slot you can restore it from there.
Cracked my screen, I see I can buy a new screen easy enough and replace it. The problem is I don't know if anything else is broke, I ask because now my phone doesn't recieve calls, it just goes straight to voice mail. But it still seems to work when I plug it into my computer, It recognizes it and I can use the side loader to install apps on it.
Is there anyway I can make a call from my computer through it to see if it is still working, or is there a way to emulate the screen on my computer.
Or any other suggestions on how I could check other fuctions of the phone to see if I just need to replace the screen?
never mind, just figured it out, I just had to search other forums.
code.google.com/p/androidscreencast
That program is awesome! And my phone wasnt recieving calls because it entered airplane mode somehow!
Hey,
Looks as though the screen on my sensation has stopped working. I've just tried the suggestions in the sticky but no luck. Any one have an idea how I can backup the data on the phone. I've basically got 7 unread texts on the phone that I need to try and access.
I've got SMS backup/restore on the phone but its only set to once a week backup. Do texts automatically get backed up anywhere else at all? Preferably on the SD card? If I plug the phone in then it asks me to select what to do with the USB type which I can't do as the screen is still locked.
Any ideas please?
Cheers,
Andy
I had the same problem. If you`ve got ADB enabled on your phone, you can use Android Screencast http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/ and try to read and backup them.
I was using a new Nexus5 and had not enabled backups as was traveling but dropped and broke the screen.. now screen is not working and looks like logicboard/motherboard has some issues too so a replacement LCD also doesnt works(only shows pixels on it)
but the phone is still working as iit syncs and beeps on emails, bbm and whatsapp messages etc.
is there a way to recover data from it.. the most imp data to recover includes camera pics, bbm history & pics and whatspp messages and pics.
The USB debugging is not checked and the screen lock is there so phone gets detected when connected to PC but folders are not visible.. is there any way to overcome this?
