Well apparently since I am a new member this is the only place I can post questions. So please don't get up my case.
I am running
Hardware version i510.06
Model Number SCH-i510
Firmware: 2.3.6
Baseband: i510.06 V.FP5
SCH-i510.FP5
Kernal: 2.6.35.7.FP5 (the Imnuts Kernal)
Build number: SCH-i510.FP5
Mod Version: Tweaked 3.2
Installed the "imnuts" kernal last night followed by tweaked 3.2
The phone is not stuck in a boot loop, however it will not turn off. Every time I turn the phone off it just turns right back on as if I hit a reboot or restart instead.
Anyone?
Update: If I power off and wait for the blank screen and plug it in, it loads up the charging screen and does not turn on. havnt unplugged it yet to see if it does turn on (doing the battery calibrate thing)
done
So after finishing the battery calibration I turned the phone on and back off and its working fine now.

Hi
I got an issue after receiving an OTA update for my Nexus S. It was an official update asking my if I would like to install it. I choose yes and the device booted. It began to install and suddenly the triangle with exclamation mark popped up.
Since then, the phone only boots up randomly. Mostly if stays at a logo saying "google" in middle of the screen. No more Nexus bootup color game.
Is there any way to get this phone back to stock without being an expert?
It is a Nexus S 9020
I9020XXKD1
Kernel 2.6.35.7-ge382d80 android [email protected] #1
GRJ22
It was stock rom 2.3.4 and rooted at the time of the update
Any help is appreciated.
Regards
Martin
I am in the same ship Martin. Updated it to the 2.3.6 from 2.3.4 when I got the OTA. It was working fine, then the screen just stopped responding. It gets stuck at the google colour game now, and the screen turns off after some time. However, if I plug in the usb power charger, the screen lights up again, and the colour game proceeds a bit, then the screen turns off again. if i pull out the usb charger then, the screen lights up again. its been crazy since morning.
im sure that if we reset it, we can get it to work. but in my case i have been unable to do that. can someone tell us how to format/reset our nexus S?
Think I got it sorted.
Running 2.3.6. now, rooted. No loss of data for whatever reason.
What I did.
First of all, in one of those moments were the device was up, i copied a stock 9020T rom 2.3.6 on the sdcard.
In recovery mode, SDcard was never available. While reading through endless threads I found a recovery rom image called 5023_green.img
I had nothing to loose, so i flashed it using fastboot. A started in recovery and I got full access to my SDcard. I updated from full stock rom 2.3.6 I loaded to the SDcard earlier. Since then, no more issues. Surprisingly here I would have expected loss of root and wipe of all data. But this did not happen. All data is there in its place.
Cheers
Martin
I made a short video showing what has gone on for the last 2 hours.
The phone is not used. In Airplane mode. 10% battery life drop after 2 hours.
I updated by doing a factory restore n CWM then flashed 4.0.3, then applied 4.0.4 update then installed the root user file, then installed the AIR kernel. Removed the stock recovery install script. Installed touch recovery. Afterwards charged the phone to 100%. Powered the phone off and left it charging until the charging symbol showed that it is done. Booted to the recovery reset battery stats and powered on the device. And pretty much left it alone, checking the time once in a while.

Anyone know whats up with the battery dying so fast? and Android OS is still on top of the list.
Firstly hey I'm new here Long time "lurker" & user of XDA for both Desire HD & Atrix
The RAZR HD I purchased off ebay is being a little dicky, I'll run you through the process
-- Unboxed , plugged it in , green LED light is on
-- Try to turn it on , LED light is gone and will not return
----End up having to enter recovery mode to boot into android
-- Phone works fine , installing apps etc ( used for about 6-7 hours)
--LED is working for sms etc
--Turn it off this morning to check that it is okay now (It's not).
So when i try to turn it on normally a green wind-up droid with a spinning blue sphere inside of it appears with a blue loading bar.... this goes on for a minute before the green droid appears on it's back with a error sign above it (The phone then turns off)
From there the only way i can actually turn on the phone is the hold power+Down volume and then switch to up volume to enter recovery which stays for a second and then boots up into a reset phone (Due to the hard reset of power+Down volume i guess?)
When it was running it was going fine!, I can't really be bothered sending it back & would rather fix it myself
I'm thinking the error has something to do with the battery? (e.g corrupted battery stats?)
System Version: 98.21.13001.XT925.Telstra.en.AU
Android Bersion: 4.1.2

SMP PREEMPT Tue Nov 13
AP Flex Version: GAS_ASIA_LSAVNQJBTELSTRA_P010

To me the Baseband & Kernel look 3rd party?
Anyway if you guys have any insight into this that would be great
Thanks
PS: I don't mind flashing or anything to get this fixed

Hey
I had this problem with 2 razr HD telstra phone after Updated to JB and after factory reset exact thin happened.they replaced the first one and sent the second one to repair.
Im 100% sure that this issue is with Telstra JB update.
I stl waiting for device!!!!
cheers
Would reflashing the Telstra JB Rom fix the problem??
[solved]
I had exactly the same problem with a brand new unused RAZR HD,
here is the solution (maybe for all RAZR phones?) [german]
I try to translate in a few words:
Code:
you need to hold down the reset IMMEDIATELY both volume keys
until the boot loader (I hope I do not rename the whole thing wrong now) appears.
In the menu that appears choose the recovery point, after which
first the screen goes black and then the Android males appear.
Now press again BOTH volume buttons and the menu (similar to the
ClockworkMod Recory menu) to reset the device is displayed.
[it took me some tries to figure out the right point of time]
Here you have the menu option to reset the data and cache
area [ I did this twice ]
and then perform a reboot of the Razr.
After performing these steps in the Bootloop kicked me on and
I could no longer continue with the set.
ATTENTION: When resetting all the data in the internal memory
(contacts, SMS, calendar entries, etc.) will be deleted ...
the Micro SD should remain untouched!

I think NO,
because there must be some error on data partition, flashing an new ROM afaik touches only the system partition
Hi, I recently got a certified like new replacement VZW GS3 which freezes 10-15mins after the screen goes black while at the lock screen. To fix it at that point I have to pull the battery and turn the device on again. Buttons pressed while in this state do nothing, not even cause the menu keys to light up
Here is the sequence of events since taking it out of the box
Recieved it as 4.1.2 stock jellybean
Rooted, CWM Recovery, Unlocked bootloader - followed this guide - 29256-tutorial-rootrecoverybootloader-unlockicsjb-verizon-galaxy-s-iii on rootwiki (can't post links)
Clean flashed Cleanrom 6 RC2, noticed the lockscreen freeze issue
Flashed lean kernel to see if it was a kernel issue
Clean flashed Liquidsmooth 2.4 to see if it persisted on other roms, it did
Odined back to full stock - issue persisted
Accepted new update that was released today - issue persisted.
The issue does not appear to happen when plugged into the charger.
I am now preparing the phone to send back to Verizon, but I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Based on google searches it seems that it is a hardware issue because changing roms/kernels/ going back to stock did not fix it.
I think my daughters tablet has been soft bricked but im unsure of how to fix it.
It was running ICS i believe. We had two of the tablets(both bought at exactly the same time). I went to update them both and the first one downloaded and installed an update absolutely fine without any issues. The second one (the one in question) downloaded it but wasnt able to install the update. It just failed and reset the clock every time i tried.
I decided to reset it completely and was then going to flash the latest jelly official rom( onto it which i found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704668
So i booted into recovery and wiped it and did a factory reset but then the thing just got stuck in a continuous boot loop.
So i wiped it again and now everytime it boots it just boots into recovery unless i specifically hold power and volume up to boot into download mode.
So i thought that was odd but i would just go ahead and put the rom on and maybe that would fix the issue. So i used odin and the jelly bean rom shown in that thread above
P5113UECLK7 (4.1.1) - Cellular south November 2012 (Official)
It all went fine it passed and i thought it would now work. I had to unplug the cable and it turn the thing on as it just started charging after completing instead of restarting and it did come up with a status loading bar as if it was going to do something but then it just turns itself off again after a few seconds and again when you try to turn it on it just goes straight into recovery.
The tablet is charged up to 100% but i cant get it to do anything else.
I tried using ICS instead P5113UEBLI1 (4.0.4) - Singapore September 2012 (Official)
but still the same. Not sure what else to do? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
In Odin did you have the auto reboot option selected? I'm asking because I was in the situation as you..I flashed wrong cm10 ROM and it was just in a boot loop.. I let the battery run out and then I charged it while it was off. I downloaded the stock jb firmware(mine came with jb preinstalled) and flashed with only auto reboot checked nothing else and it worked..
