So I had usb working on GB, leak 1 ICS, and then I flashed the MIUI ROM when mass storage wasnt working. I decided to go ahead n flash CM10 afterwords n since MIUI my usb mass storage is borked, I can only charge whenever plugged into a computer. Ive tried different ROMs n they all are the same (CM10, StockEd, NUMA) and none have it working for me. I wanna FXZ back n start over, but can cuz my AP Fastboot wont install the Edison S drivers.... I need help n am going crazy. The computer detects the phone in Fastboot, tries to install the drivers, but everytime fails I have tried going through the RSDLite n it cant detect my phone, I have the SDK setup too, so its not missing that :/ Im out of ideas on how to fix my usb other then if someone could upload a flashable zip of the ICS kernel we use, see if maybe the kernels just borked, otherwise can someone help??

As in? I dont know, Ill tell you everything Ive flashed, maybe you can figure it out lol. I got the phone, flashed leak 1, then MIUI, then CM10, then StockEd, then NUMA, now back on CM10. I have flashed the bootstrap (obviously lol). When it comes to the RSDLite n stuff, I tried the most recent 5.7 and for FXZ whatever the most recent is. My boot menu version is 0A.72. My fastboot says from top to bottom...
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)
0A.72
Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
Thats all it says. When I connect the cable it tries to install the drivers on windows side , but then fails.
If you need any other info, just let me know of what n possibly where. I know most android stuff, its when it comes to moto specific things like FXZ n stuff I suck at, this is my first locked device n first moto
Okay so basically go and double check you have the most current drivers. Then if you want to flash stock ics here is the link where I posted where to get it and rsd 6 as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1967529
And try to run the recovery factory format. Then run the fastboot after. I should not matter but I always did it before I used fastboot.

Like I've said I can't get RSDLite or FXZ to work. I went to RSDLites code.google.com or whatever n they had links for every RSD n both 32bit n 64bit drivers, I figured that'd have the most recent there. I'll try straight from motos site n see if it works

yes you don't necessarily have too but it is good practice to wipe everything before you flash a file using fastboot even though fastboot removes everything naturally. And basically you flash the stock 4.0.4 fastboot file .zip using RSDlite with the phone on fastboot mode. You cant flash any other rom like numa or anything else just the OTA updates which restore it back to stock.

N since nothing works.... since I RSDlite'd I no longer have root n i cant get it back, unless theres a way to do it without a computer on this phone, which I havent found so til I can fix this Im now stuck on OEM ROMs which is gay lol, I miss JB!!

Well that's gay! Idk if this is your problem but I had a SD card that was messed up and for some reason all my phones storage was going to it. When I plugged it into the computer it would only show my sdcard. And would not allow me to use the data on it. If you have a sdcard then it can't hurt to switch it. I am not saying that is the problem but it is a possibility.

Well I have no idea then:/ my only suggestion is to see if you can send them the phone for repair or for a replacement even though you did not buy the phone from att or motorola. There might be a way to solve this problem but I have no idea how. Maybe one of the devs on here can help? Like the one that ported MIUI to the atrix? And did you make sure that its not the cable and not the phone selected on charge only through the settings? Little things that no one thinks of sometimes that make a huge impact on the phone. Because if some how you can flash a fastboot file but not store data then maybe the drivers for the phone are messed up? Have you tried to store data on it from another friends computer?

Yes I have tried 3 diff computers to no avail. The cable is fine it worked before the MIUI ROM. I posted a reply to the devs MIUI thread and private msged hom n he wont reply, its been like a week :/ Like I was telling a friend of mine....maybe the bootloader got borked cuz its the only thing I know of that doesnt get touched when flashing roms or fxz'n. I mean is there a way to flash a fresh ICS ready bootloader or kernel? Hell I cant even do tjat cuz I finally fxz'd n it still doesnt work n now I have no root n cant do **** til I root. Any idea of a way to root or temp root on the phone. If i cpuld at least temp root I can perm root myself after n just deal with no usb mounting, Im stuck on OEM ICS n hate it lol, I wanna get back on CM10(preferably with usb mounting, but just wanna be back on a jellybean ROM now lol)

I have a few problems here... I was updating my cm unofficial Rom last night and before I did I made a mistake of using Rom manager and put the latest touch recovery on it.... I can boot to recovery and tried several times to flash over it but stays the same. Second I can cold boot to cm 10 but don't have wifi at all.... So I can't re flash through goo manager. Main problem is when I plug the tablet in the computer it charges but won't read it... I tried re installing all drivers I tried 3 cables and 2 computers.... Please if anyone knows how to get this thing to read so I can push new software to it.. Jeff

If your data is not that important, use Easy Flasher to go back to stock.
Then root it, install Goo Manager and in the settings, install openrecoveryscript for TWRP recovery and there's roms and other stuff in Goo Manager as well.
It sounds like I had this same experience with the recovery problem . You have to revert back to 5.4.0.4 or so. I dont remember exactly where I found it but you also must use a terminal emulator t suppress your current version AFTER you flashed it from your current recovery yet BEFORE you go back to view the older version after its flashed, I know there isn't much information there but I looked and looked and looked and finally found this way, hope my information serves you as at least a starting point to fix it

This MAY help, go to your Settings>Storage>Menu (Three dots on top left of screen) once there check to make sure it is connecting as a media device. This is just a suggestion as I have not actually tried this out and am also interested for similar reasons if it will work.

I get the same warning, but it works fine regardless. I always figured it was for some other devices that had that partition...
Tried it still not working... I did a full wipe of all data and internal in TWRP recovery and then restored a nandroid of stock rom w root and still nothing... I tried to full wipe of all available options in recovery and loaded recover 4.2.1 and again nothing computer won't read it and got the staging error at then end.... I have a fully functional tablet except for usb and this could be a problem if it bricks.... The last rom I had on there before problems was cm 10 12-30-12 before I tried eos 4 and this all began... I was only available to load cm back on but with out wifi out of all ROM's bc all failed at install..Finally got an old nandroid restored w new recovery after the cwm loop was solved. so everything is working except usb . I have been reading and reading seemsike common issue but no fix...

Hey,
I have the same problem, the ASUS Service center told me that motherboard needs to be replaced. They are charging me around Rs. 14000 (~$250) for the motherboard replacement which i believe is too much. Kindly suggest whether you were charged the same or did you get it done from elsewhere.
Also, I initially got the problem due to failed CWM recovery and thus it seems to be software issue. Is there any way it can be recovered without motherboard replacement.
I actually bought it through walmart and had the protection plan... I'm getting a refund for full amount since parts aren't available... $540.00 refund check... The only problem I had was connecting it to the computer via usb...It wouldn't read... I also had a clicking noise at boot... The talet ran fine... I'll take the refund and just get another tablet now

I have a long story. I tried to update my phone via Kies and it resulted in a soft bricked phone because (it turns out) the USB port on my phone is bad and disconnected halfway into the update. I have already received a warranty phone from AT&T and have to ship my old one back in 10 days. Is there ANY way to retrieve my photos and video from the old phone? Please see my other thread for a background of what we've done trying to fix this. Because my USB port is bad, I can't get into download mode reliably, and I can't get connected to the computer (Pluswhich the phone doesn't boot into android because of the 50% completed upgrade)
What can I do here? I have hundreds of photos and videos of my kids that I want to back up and I just don't know what I can do to get them back before I have to send this phone in.
Even if I could replace/repair the USB port on the phone, I'm still not able to boot into android to retrieve my stuff. Please help me figure out what to do.
Move all your stuff to a sdcard then move it to youe computer like that.

Like I said - I can't boot the phone. It's stuck in Download mode because of the botched upgrade. How can I move stuff to the SD card if I can't boot?
How is the phone's internal memory attached? Is it something that could be removed and mounted on my working phone in order to retrieve a backup?
I'd like to avoid soldering a new USB port on for fear of damaging the board and ruining the warranty.

So the question then is can I fix the USB port without voiding the warranty? I suppose if I tried and failed, I could always send the replacement S2 that they sent me back in order to avoid paying warranty fees.

What kind of phone is it? If you are returning it, and you have the other phone already, why not try soldering? Or at least open it and see if you can find the spot the connection is damaged.
It's a skyrocket from ATT and I do think I'm going to have a look at it tomorrow. I've got the tools to fix it. I'd just need a new jack.
I am trying to root my G2x running 2.2.2 so I can use my computer to control it while I wait for a digitizer replacement. I have downloaded android SDK manager, Android Screencast, and multiple versions of superoneclick.
Now everything has gone according to plan, until I try to open superoneclick. at first the computer acts as it would normally when it opens a program. but the program never opens. So after a minute or so my computer was operating at a snails pace. so i opened task manager and my HDD was running at 100% which is obviously bad, considering my computer usually operates under 20%.
The instant I end the superoneclick task, my HDD drops back down to normal. And this happens every time I try to run superoneclick.
I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before, and if there is a solution or if im doing something wrong.
As far as i know the only way to root this phone is to flash a rooted rom via clockworkmod which needs to be installed via NVFlash.

It's just the touch function, the bottom inch of screen works. and the top centimeter or so works, but the middle of the screen has no touch function. the phones in great cosmetic condition, but something happened and the charge flex cable died so i replaced that. But when it booted up for the first time in a year or so that section of the touch screen I mentioned didnt work. Oh, and I know me replacing the flex cable didnt cause the screen to go out because it was like that before.
The new digitizer should be in tomorrow. And i'm about to try what you suggested, and then ill come back and report. Thank you.
I rooted my phone by flashing cwm via nvflash and then flashed a g2x root.zip file. The zip file can be found in one of the stickies, if you can't find it and want it let me know and ill get it to you

So I bought my Skyrocket about a year ago. It was rooted and running Embryo 3.0.
I upgraded it to Embryo 5 and even 7.
When upgrading to Embryo 7, my computer wouldn't detect the phone. I ended up deciding that the USB port on the phone was dead. So i just pu the ROM on a SD card and flashed through CWM.
Last week, I got a call and when I tired to answer it the phone froze. Upon reboot the phone got stuck on the Cymbaline logo.
I then decided to try and get it back to stock. I put it into ODIN mode and connected it to my PC. The ODIN software recognized it and i was able to flash it back to ATT stock JB.
Now Windows again fails to recognize the phone. Which is strange to me as I was able to flash through USB with ODIN.
My question is, how can I get a custom ROM such as Embryo 7 which I like a lot, onto the Skyrocket without being able to root the phone?

It charges fine. Just when I connect it to Windows I can hear it connect, and a second later it disconnects.
It seems like a software issue though, because ODIN recognized the phone phone in Download mode. And I was able to flash to stock.
Ill have to check out some other ROMs then, I really liked Embryo.
Looks like I can put CWM back on through ODIN and then flash a ROM through CWM.
