It took me ages to find this before so I thought I'd share it with you guys to save you the hassle. I can't post direct links but it's called the RAM Aquabox Pro 20
This will fit most modern smartphones as they're all roughly the same size. You can buy it in the UK from a site called jcmotors, with whatever style mount you need.
It's better than using some of the other cheap cases I've seen on ebay and in other posts here.
Just in case you were wondering the N4 is 5.27"(H) x 2.70"(W) x 0.36"(D) and the case fits up to 5.38''(H) X 2.8''(W) X 0.55''(D)
How much does this cost?

I've just ordered one from RAM directly and with shipping to the UK it's ~ $90 it was roughly $55 for the case itself and $30 for shipping.
I realised that nobody actually seems to stock them in them UK :/

This company seems to be UK based:

The unit is £34.40 - not sure if there is a charge for postage.

Ah awesome, I didn't mention that the one I ordered came with a mounting bracket. So it works out at roughly the same price. It's probably going to be a pain to cancel my order now, oh well.
Hmm...amazon has it for $21 + $7 shipping. Not a bad deal.

How do you tell which mounting style you need?
Also let me know how well it works with the Nexus 4.
Seeing this makes me want to mod the mount to fit my jet ski

The reason I got mine from the RAM site is that you can chose the mounts that you need, they usually cost the same as or more than the case itself.
I'll let you know how I get on when it arrives. Can't wait to acutaly be able to use navigation when I'm out on my motorbike. I'm going to stick an NFC tag in there as well so that all I have to do is drop the phone in and I'm off.

I have the RAM Mount X-Grip ( http://www.amazon.com/RAM-Universal-X-Grip-Holder-1-Inch/dp/B0055PH0XA ) for my jeep after going through countless other vehicle mounts. I don't know about their bike mount, but the materials they use are excellent, and the mount I purchased will probably last longer than my vehicle. If their bike mount is similar I think you will be very pleased.

I will echo this. I have the X-Grip Tablet mount in my truck (a Nexus 7 serves as my GPS/media server), and it is the most rugged, stable mount I have ever used. It's huge, but well worth the price

I received it on Friday, but I unfortunately ordered the wrong base attachment(the one that screws down on to a flat surface, DOH!)
The beauty of the mount is that it's modular, so I've ordered another ball mount that will screw right in to the handle bar clamps with an M8 bolt (pics will make this clearer lol)
I'll get the review up sometime this week(end) when the bit I ordered arrives, so far I'm really impressed with the build quality, there are a few niggles but I'll talk about those in the review

So I guess there will be no review...
Since there are now reviews on the Amazon page posted above I'll ask here:
The description claims that all side buttons are usable regardless of the model? How does that work. And is it any good? Any experiences with the N4 so far?
Also, how is it mounted to the bike? IHeard about bike mounts falling of and phones falling out of them while riding offroad, which would be bad of course.
In fact, the only style of bike mount of which I've heard of no problems so far is this one:
http://www.amazon.de/yayago-Fahrrad...953&sr=8-1&keywords=fahrradhalterung++x-style
This has additional straps securing the phone and so far no one complained about the stability, even offroad/riding in the woods doesn't seem to be a problem.
My concern, of course, is: What happens if you fall down WITH YOUR BIKE? There's nothing protecting the phone itself, and the way this looks, you might even have to get rid of any cases/bumpers for the phone to fit in...

Hi,
Has anyone purchased a car mount for their desire?
My Desire should hopefully arrive tomorrow and I'm trying to get some accessories for it! The car kit is fairly essential, I have the bluetooth radio that supports A2DP so I'm very excited!
Could anyone recommend a decent car mount?
I have a suction one for my N95 but I think I'd rather one that clips into one of the vents.
I`m waiting for Brodit to release one for the desire, supposed to be soon.
I used their active kit for my G2/Hero and its good. Easy to fit into your car, took 5mins, you have to buy depending on your make/model and where you want it mounted.
Look at the 'Desire Accessories':
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/trailblazer-universal-car-charger-and-holder-p22954.htm
Had it for several days... its cheap £9.99 and holds the phone and charges it as well! Delivery is megaquick too.
I read somewhere that the nexus one brodit is supposed to work with the desire - who's brave enough to try it now!?

I've used them for years, just replacing the holder on the mount for each new phone.

Really liked the look of this but I have an Audi A3 and the car cigarette lighter is housed within the ashtray about 3 inches from the outer dashboard. I doubt the trailblazer will fit.
Also it looks like the holding parts would go right over the volume controls on the Desire like it does on the HD2.
MINI WEIGHTED CUSHION FRICTION MOUNT with UNIVERSAL HOLDER for MOBILES SMART PHONES MP3 (SKU 5043)
I have just ordered this one for my desire, wanted something that wasnt a sucker mount and I dont like the airvent mounts, I also wanted something that meant that I could turn the desire from horizontal to vertical very easily without having to dismantle the device or struggle in doing so, lastly I wanted something that meant I could easily fit into another car quickly if i needed it, found this and it seems to fit the bill nicely, I have read up on the reviews on this mount with a garmin attatchment and they have all come back hugely favourable, love the fact that if i wanted to add another phone to the mount in the future all i have to do is to buy another back plate instead of the entire mount. was sceptical at first haven never seen a friction dash mount before but after reading the reviews and watching the video on the link i have provided and it only being £18.32 inc delivery i thought why not, will post up when i have received it and let you know how it is

So i have now ordered the Desire one from morpethmobiles.co.uk and should be receiving early next week so will post some pics

As I have said here, I think they may be selling the Nexus mount as the Desire mount.
i suspect that aswell because i talked to brodit directly 3/4 days ago and they said it should take at least 2 weeks for the holder to be available.
<START RANT>
It annoys me some shops are selling Nexus accessories as Desire ones - like this dock and also Clove are marketing the Proporta Alu Leather case for both the Nexus and the Desire.
If Brodit and Proporta think it necessary to redesign their accessories to fit the Desire, shops shouldn't be selling the Nexus versions as if they were designed for the Desire. I am sure Brodit and Proporta would have been delighted if their existing accessories would fit as they would increase their market without all the new R&D costs.
I would be very annoyed if I bought something as designed specifically for the Desire, only to find in a few weeks that the manufacturer had brought out a version that really was designed just for the Desire.

http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-14-Inch-Windshield-Universal-Smartphone/dp/B000W1PW96/
I got this about a year ago and it works great.. My windshield is very long and from some measurements I had to have at least 12" inches, and this one works out great. Just plan your bends ahead of time, like most of these kind of things it's just a stiff piece of metal in there... You can re-bend it, but it's not easy to do..
Only thing that bugs me is that since it's long, it does bounce. So what I did was make sure the base of it was resting on the top of my dashboard.
If I wanted to spend the money on it, I'd actually get a set which costs about $40 for the car mount, $40 for the phone mount, but it's custom per car and slides into the dash itself and can also be removed... If you're interested in that I'll find it, a quick google didn't locate it.. but I think I saw it linked from XDA somewhere. Looked really nice, but $80 is a bit steep for me and I'd love to get rid of my damn car

for others that do not own the cars they are driving this is right from proclip's site.
The ProClip Center Mount attaches on the upper mid section of the dashboard. The mount clips into the dashboard seams between the panel sections, providing a very sturdy and tight fit. Average installation time is 2 minutes. No dismantling of the dashboard is required and there is no damage to the vehicle interior!

That's not necessarily true. Especially not for car chargers.
You end up moreso paying for the mount itself than its wireless capabilities, and as many people who've bothered trying to use a cheap mount to hold their device will tell you, you don't want a cheaply built mount holding your device while you're driving down a crappy road or going over speed bumps.
Not to mention the differences in effort required to remove the device once it has been placed. Some mounts allow one-handed operations, some require two, and some are best left alone entirely unless you can stop to interact with them.

The price of the phone is irrelevant. The dock is overpriced and doesn't provide even a decent value, the home wireless charger is overpriced too. They could have sold them both for 39.99, made a profit and sold significantly more than they will at the 80-100 price point. Either way, it's nice that there are other options for sub $50!

I've had my fair share with cheap car mounts, probably gone through 4-5 of those cheap $20 mounts in the past 2 years. so i agree on that part which was kind of my point except i'm not very good with analogies.. i would not pay $50 for the samsung home wireless pad , but i will pay $80 for the samsung car dock, because while it doesn't apply to all things, sometimes you do get what you pay for. the samsung dock just looks a lot better than other options, even if it cost $20-30 more. the last mount i had wouldn't even stick properly to the windshield when the outside temps dropped below 30F..

I seriously considered the hell out of that thing because I REALLY like the design. Also no wireless mount will be able to match it in terms of speed and ease of device placement and removal as well as positioning.
I just really couldn't bring myself to trust my $1000 device on a charger without some sort of "hands" to catch it on the off chance that the grip and magnet fail and allow the device to fall.
The Tylt car charger is the one to beat for that reason alone in my book. It's also a bit cheaper than the AirDock which is nice since it looks like I'm gonna end up buying 3 cases before I decide on one to keep haha.

Ive had this dock for a while now i bought it for my galaxy note edge and i have to say its a good car holder holds tight and im yet to have it fall off the window... knock on wood haha. The charge on it like any other qi charger is slow but it holds well if you are using the maps app or streaming music.
However i just dont like things on my window so i ended up buying a vent mount from a company here in sydney that makes specific mounts to your car. The website is: www.holdmyphone.com.au
And i also bought a garmin gps ball mount for it. Its a little tight but once you get it on there and tighten the nut it doesnt move. Out of site out of mind.

They still haven't shipped to the Kickstarter backers due to issues with the USB-C variant. And they are taking on more orders now? I hope this isn't a sign they are desperate for cash flow.
I wish they find a way to add a keychain hole on the actual reader.
Had the regular micro USB one and had issues with the case after awhile.

I pre-ordered the Gold to match my Gold Nexus 6P. I still have the original Meenova micro-usb otg. Honestly, it was one of the best phone accessories I ever bought. I flash custom roms a lot, so this new usb type c otg will be kick ass for the Nexus 6P. Can't wait to have it shipped. Who knows when though?
This is great, loved the original usb product.

Mine shipped today. Should arrive by Friday.
Mines arriving Thursday, I'll post a review when I get a chance. It's a busy week with midterms coming up next week for me, so I'll do my best.

Got mine today. Works as expected. Only thing I wish they would have done is put a Keychain ring right on it instead of using a case.
This is probably known for most of you here but this is the first time using one of these things for me. I wasn't able grant permissions for it in Solid Explorer at first. I got it by when you press grant and it takes you to another screen. In that screen you press the 3 dots and select I think it was show root storage or something like that. Just a heads up if you think you can't get it to work in your file manager.
Just ordered mine.. Cant wait.
