Just noticed the Samsung wireless car dock is now available.
Bonus is it looks like it works with the Samsung s-view case too.

what? the Samsung wireless dock for home is $50 alone, so how can a wireless car charger that is more functional be cheaper?
it's ok to spend $800 on the phone but $80 is too much for an accessory?
there are a bunch of wireless charging car docks out there, here are 2 that are under $50. they arent samsung branded, but should function close to the same.

That's not necessarily true. Especially not for car chargers.
You end up moreso paying for the mount itself than its wireless capabilities, and as many people who've bothered trying to use a cheap mount to hold their device will tell you, you don't want a cheaply built mount holding your device while you're driving down a crappy road or going over speed bumps.
Not to mention the differences in effort required to remove the device once it has been placed. Some mounts allow one-handed operations, some require two, and some are best left alone entirely unless you can stop to interact with them.

The price of the phone is irrelevant. The dock is overpriced and doesn't provide even a decent value, the home wireless charger is overpriced too. They could have sold them both for 39.99, made a profit and sold significantly more than they will at the 80-100 price point. Either way, it's nice that there are other options for sub $50!

I've had my fair share with cheap car mounts, probably gone through 4-5 of those cheap $20 mounts in the past 2 years. so i agree on that part which was kind of my point except i'm not very good with analogies.. i would not pay $50 for the samsung home wireless pad , but i will pay $80 for the samsung car dock, because while it doesn't apply to all things, sometimes you do get what you pay for. the samsung dock just looks a lot better than other options, even if it cost $20-30 more. the last mount i had wouldn't even stick properly to the windshield when the outside temps dropped below 30F..
I bought an airdock last month. Its on backorder. My hopes were it arrives around the s6 launch. And its the same price as the Samsung one

I seriously considered the hell out of that thing because I REALLY like the design. Also no wireless mount will be able to match it in terms of speed and ease of device placement and removal as well as positioning.
I just really couldn't bring myself to trust my $1000 device on a charger without some sort of "hands" to catch it on the off chance that the grip and magnet fail and allow the device to fall.
The Tylt car charger is the one to beat for that reason alone in my book. It's also a bit cheaper than the AirDock which is nice since it looks like I'm gonna end up buying 3 cases before I decide on one to keep haha.
After a lot of searching I decided to just get this dock. I will have mine wednesday from amazon for 85 bucks. In the past I used Ibolt for my S4 and absolutely loved it. Being that they don't have a specific dock for the S6 I just went with the samsung. Once I get my phone I will take pics and post a little review.

Ive had this dock for a while now i bought it for my galaxy note edge and i have to say its a good car holder holds tight and im yet to have it fall off the window... knock on wood haha. The charge on it like any other qi charger is slow but it holds well if you are using the maps app or streaming music.
However i just dont like things on my window so i ended up buying a vent mount from a company here in sydney that makes specific mounts to your car. The website is: www.holdmyphone.com.au
And i also bought a garmin gps ball mount for it. Its a little tight but once you get it on there and tighten the nut it doesnt move. Out of site out of mind.
If anyone wanta me to post picks let me know [emoji4]

I have used the iMagnet mount with my S4 for the past two years and have never had it just fall off. The magnet is incredibly powerful. The problem with the S6, however, is that I can't put the metal disc in my case without disrupting wireless charging.

Any one seen any nice car holders, I like the look of the brodit ones but I dont think they have updated their range yet.
Been using Brodit for a while now, love the custom mounts they do for almost every car on the road. Still waiting on the i9000 holder, but imagine it will be similar to their i5700 one, just getting a little impatient now, they are normally quicker than this at putting out new holders.
I received this from Brodit support yesterday:
Hi!
Thank for the interest in our products.
We have this under construction so please check our web for updates.
As soon as the holders are ready we have this ready it will be on our web.
But due to summer vacation we can’t say any clear date.

So I guess it will still take some time ...
there's someone on ebay with 3 different models, ranging from $10.74 to $13 (vent mount, and two different windshield mounts - one of which appears to be very similiar to the OEM one samsung australia dealers are displaying, ie it will mount to driver's door window as well)
but the ebay seller's prices include shipping from Hong Kong - they're specific to the i9000, so i figured at the price, i'd grab one till Tmo USA had theirs up
his do not include any charger but as ive already got a Tmo car charger, i'm good to go for now
From Brodit:
Thank you for the mail.
We hope to release holders for this in the middle of August.

The Galaxy S is light enough to stay put by itself on the Dash Genie. Though I found that the charging cable can pull on it and eventually un-stick it. I have to ensure the cable stays put and in the right position. It's not the bends that matter, more the potholes. And if you have to touch it it's fiddly. Neat idea, but would not buy it again.
i ordered ths one from ebay - it's specific to the i9000 - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190409500795&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
figured i'd use it till Tmo came out with the Samsung OEM unit here in the states - but after seeing the price for the Samsung unit on techbuy in australia (iirc either $79 or $89 AUD) i might just stay with this one
same seller on ebay has another for a couple bucks more that looks real similiar to the samsung one techbuy has pictured on their web - it looks like it will turn a full 180 degrees in the horizontal plane so you could mount it on the driver's door window -
and he has a 3rd unit that is meant for vent mounting
Try Arkon.
Look at this video:

Here is their website:

The company is based in the US.
I'm interested to here feedback on the dash genie http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dash-Genie-Ph...UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL&hash=item2eae0d02b1 does the phone securely stick to the holder (i.e the phone doesnt fall out when cornering hard)? - Does it work aswell in landscape as portrait? Is the red dot on the holder simply a magnet (does that affect signal or GPS?) ? - From the video on the auction it looks brilliant - I drive a 1 series similar to the one in the video too - so I know it will work on my dash

I actually received it today. First impresson: cheap but well designed. It comes with a little stick on mount so you can also stick the thing to your dash instead of the windscreen. The clamp is spring loaded so it can fit the phone even if it's in a case. I like it.

yeah - it'll do fine
definitely strong enough, grip wise on the unit - in fact a little too tight, so i dremel'd out the lower capture points to give it a little relief in the vertical axis (vertical when the holder is in "landscape" position
the mechanical action on the locking cam (that locks the suction cup) feels good, real solid
and the mechanical action on the capture nut that tightens on the ball socket is actually impressive - pretty infinitely adjustable, easy to find that sweet spot where the ball socket is stiff enough to hold the phone at the angle / position you want, while not letting the holder move or shift, plus with the wgt of the vibrant so light, it's not inclined to

http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-14-Inch-Windshield-Universal-Smartphone/dp/B000W1PW96/
I got this about a year ago and it works great.. My windshield is very long and from some measurements I had to have at least 12" inches, and this one works out great. Just plan your bends ahead of time, like most of these kind of things it's just a stiff piece of metal in there... You can re-bend it, but it's not easy to do..
Only thing that bugs me is that since it's long, it does bounce. So what I did was make sure the base of it was resting on the top of my dashboard.
If I wanted to spend the money on it, I'd actually get a set which costs about $40 for the car mount, $40 for the phone mount, but it's custom per car and slides into the dash itself and can also be removed... If you're interested in that I'll find it, a quick google didn't locate it.. but I think I saw it linked from XDA somewhere. Looked really nice, but $80 is a bit steep for me and I'd love to get rid of my damn car

that's sweet that you found one you want.
for others that do not own the cars they are driving this is right from proclip's site.
The ProClip Center Mount attaches on the upper mid section of the dashboard. The mount clips into the dashboard seams between the panel sections, providing a very sturdy and tight fit. Average installation time is 2 minutes. No dismantling of the dashboard is required and there is no damage to the vehicle interior!

Well my biggest thing is I'm investing something into a car I don't plan on keeping much longer.. once I buy the car I plan on getting shortly, then it is something I'll prob do
So, Phonearena has a few articles on how you can get wireless charging on the S4 now, but they involve a third-party wireless receiver (read: back cover) that looks like it adds a considerable amount of thickness to the phone -- far too much to fit into a case not designed for it. The receiver also won't be shipping for another 3-4 weeks. They've also released a charging pad (which doubles as a dock), but it looks goofy and just uses the Qi standard anyway, so there are plenty of options out there for that portion of the charging.
My question is: Are there other available receivers that actually work? eBay (and the like) displays a list of Galaxy S4 receivers (basically a little flat mat that sits on top of the battery and connects to the Qi hubs inside the back cover), but I'm extremely iffy on ordering any electronics from China unless they're proven...and all of the receivers listed are from mainland China. Has anyone given one of them a shot? And if so, are there any that work efficiently and don't cause problems?
I know, for the future, that Samsung has said they will have a wireless hub (mat) and receiver out sometime soon...but they said the same thing about the Galaxy S3, and it was never released. I trust the word of Samsung about as much as I trust the word of the IRS right now.
Anyone with experiences??
I feel the same way about china electronics, but I do have a Metrans brand one on the way I'm thinking sometime this week, I also go in on the indiegogo Monsterwatts receiver which probably wont show up till June.
so far all the info that I've read up in these forums about the receivers is that with just the Receiver the NFC does not work after installation, one guy used a note 2 NFC antenna to get it working. This sounds like too much fumbling to me and I prefer a sounder solution.
the official receiver covers are starting to show up in both white and black colors (black just recently) they cost 50 bucks and as you mentioned add considerable thickness. the cost doesn't bother me as much as the added thickness, which is what's holding me back from buying it.
The route I'm going to take for the time being is to try the receivers, if it works and does not add any bulge to the rear of the phone while disabling NFC, I could live with that.
maybe if they come out with a decent case for the official receiver cover I might get it.
I don't really use NFC anyway (who does), so that's an acceptable option for me. I have two people at work that I actually *would* use NFC stuff with, and we can just send files to each other without it anyway. Since Verizon has been so gracious as to make sure none of the devices on its network (outside of Nexus devices) can use Google Wallet, I really have no other reason to use NFC.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2296301
Need to read thru his post. Yes, while the receiver is from china, the NFC is functional.
I ordered one from the UK and got it shipped to the US. Am I worried its from china? Not really its 20-30 bucks. It would be the last time I lose that amount.
I will agree that eBay has a lot of knock offs but its the chance you take.
I would like to see a Samsung product out as well, but this will have to do until they put something out.
The main reason Im trying it is because Im tired of looking for a desktop charger that I can use the S4 with while its in a case.
Good luck to ya!
that dude's thread confuses me, he shows some youtube video about a Sview case and how it doesn't close flush with the receiver and says you need to press it hard be careful not to crack your screen... after that he lost me.
I just want a thin receiver that I can slip in the rear without the bulge and closing issues, even if NFC is a NO-GO that's fine with me haha.
I purchased this http://www.ebay.com/itm/121111622748?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
The item does work fine, does NFC work I don't know as I never use it but I will try and find out in the near future.
Item was received quickly and "worked" out of the box but the phone would slide off of the touchstone fairly quick, I had modded multiple phones to work with touchstones including my galaxy nexus so I gad these laying around http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D401-N52&cat=168
some N52 magnets, and after checking polarities and moving everything around it now works great and holds the phone very securely.
Charge rate looks to be about 800mA peaking at 615mA incoming charge while the phone is on, Average draw while off the charger is about 200mA with same apps running so about 800mA I do not know what it should be giving out but this is more than enough to charge.
Thought people would like to hear about this and am willing to help if necessary.
nice but I am already invested in QI charging pads.
I think that's the trend anyway, I'm surprised there are still an ample supply of touchstone chargers and palm pre back plates still in the market.

They are being supplied by third parties lately. I try and get the originals only though..
I also had a Qi Nexus 4 but I missed the magnetic pull of the pre I had and the galaxy nexus I modded so I did this.
And I can get a proclip for my car and these make amazing car chargers, which is the main reason I purchased the touchstone version.

I wouldn't have created a thread if either of those had helped :good:
The first thread is fairly useful...but is very hard to understand. Also, that solution is pretty much only available overseas for some time. My thread is about using this functionality in North America...which is a totally different story. It's possible to order his solution, but it would cost in the neighborhood of like $75 for the receiver alone...much more than any other available solution.
This thread about looking at options and figuring out what they are.

I got the cheapest possible solution I could find on eBay and/or other Chinese sites like AliExpress.
The charger, including a 5V 1.5A wall charger cost me just under $30 ad I got the the Qi receiver for $23. Both prices including S&H from China. It took less than two weeks before I received those items. The reason why I choose this solution was because I wanted to keep the S4 as slim as possible, and also be able to use the flip cover. To get it cheap is also a bonus.
The charge rate is at 640ma, and the bulge the Qi receiver is making is not visible. I removed the thin plastic film from the backside of the receiver and shaved off as much plastic from the inside of the plastic cover as I dared. There was a small visible bulge before those small modification. After the modification one can still "sense" the Qi receiver, but it is not visible or make the phone wobbly when lying on its back.
The only downside beside the rather low charging rate from this kit is the poor quality of the wall charger. It gets very hot and the solution should have been replaced with a micro USB port on the charging pad to make it more versatile when it comes to replacing wall chargers. The pad is also made too glossy and has an annoying sound when the charging initiate and a continuos overly bright status light. I removed the internal speaker and also dimmed the light with some standard paper. The kit can be modified with other housing solutions, and I was thinking of maybe install it inside a small paper-book or something that is a more "standard" item on a nightstand I will just have to check how hot the charging plate and/or the S4 gets before I try out any mods like that.
My recommendation is; Get an iQ charging receiver on eBay. The one I got is OK, but I might have chosen the oddly shaped Qi receiver after the reviews I have read. There is also rumours about a v2 of this slimmest receiver available. Probably wise to sit on the fence a bit longer. I would also advise to stay clear of those cheapest T-100 kind of charging pads that you can find everywhere for $25-$40. I would rather get the Nokia DT-910 or the genuine Samsung charging pad (are there two different kinds of those; one with a micro USB input and another with a standard charging plug?) In Norway both those chargers costs around 40-45 British pounds
Here is a few pics of my kit:
The other threads do not claim that they are UK/EU based.
Lots of usefull information in both. Bubbles post was to verify that the NFC works with the receiver he got.
You should probably do some research on your own.
and BTW, the cost to have just the reciever is £16.99. which is 25$ US.

Your post is a dupe. Sorry. It just is.
Samsung should release is a nice dock stand for these watches. I hated the Galaxy Gear 'photo frame' cradle. I am not very keen on the new 'snap on' cradle for the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo.
I do not mind either cradle for occasional data transfer/connection, but for daily charging, why can't they sell the charging cradle they give to retailers to display the watches..
It sits on the counter, you take the watch off and just sit it into the cradle. There is a small magnet inside that pulls your watch into place and keeps it firmly connected to the two charging pins. It's already been designed and manufactured, now just make them in both white and black and offer them for sale. I'll take two.

I don't see a power connection to those store docks. Do they have one to charge the watch?

Those do have a charging cord that comes out the back/bottom of the unit. They only have 2 pogo pins, not 5, so they are for charging only. That's how they keep the display watches charged. I checked out on of the units at Best Buy and tried to convince they guy to sell it to me. but he wouldnt/couldnt.
Here is another angle of a retail dock. We obviously don't need the security cord.
I would love to have this to, I pass by the Swedish Samsung office sometimes. I could ask them if they would sell me some

Any luck yet?
I have tried the local Samsung store here, that directed me to their call center, that directed me to another call center, that said they are only sent to retailers and sent back to Samsung after...
I really want one of these charging stands for my new Gear 2
possible problem?
So i ran some small magnets over the back of my watch and in the small space that the back has, I think there would need to be four magnets to hold it in a:
+-
-+
configuration, but even after doing it I didn't create the same pull that the store stands do. I have a experiment that I'd like someone to run (I won't be going to a bestbuy for awhile). Go in with your gear 2, and neo, and try to put yours on the store stand. Does the stand attract it the same? I am worried that the stronger magnetism is a store version with an alternative (ferrous) backplate to the watch...
If I'm wrong, then I actually might start designing a stand and placing the pins and magnet in it, print the object and ship it for you guys to enjoy. Also, the base seems a bit shower stall like, I may reduce the footprint and make some design changes.

Cradles for Gear 2 in Black or White
I have those cradles if someone needs one. In Black or Creamy White. Not sure what the rules are on this forum and don't want to violate the admin rules. Here is what they look like.
Let me know if someone is interested.
Thanks.
I have the cradles

Yep. in order to be fair to the admin of the forum, I might suggest a search on ebay of: Galaxy Gear 2 / Gear 2 Neo Charging Cradle.
I have not seen them anywhere else.
Enjoy.

I understand what you are saying, but Ebay's fee's are really high. Then add Paypal fees and you can see it adds up quick.
Also the wimpy charger that comes with the Gear 2 is $40 and it's a pain to use.
I know the cradle is not for everyone, but for some like myself it is much more convenient and practical. Plus it is a better way to protect your Gear 2 when not in use.
If you were to order a larger quantity like 10 units I could work a better price.
Thanks for your feedback.
Thank you very much

The charger gear 2 is 15$ from samsung. Ebays fees are not that high, nor is paypals. But to each his own. I'll also wait for bb to do something with theirs. Thank you

Looks like the price came down since I last saw it. I just looked and it is $19.99 on Samsung website.
Again, it is not a purchase for everyone but at least it's an additional choice for some.
Thanks again.

captain1212, do you still have either of these charging cradles? I would like to buy one from you (preferably the black one if possible).
A Kickstarter project for Qipack got funded last month. Still on Preorder.
They're claiming World's Thinnest Wireless Portable Charger. You can charge your phone anywhere any time. No Wires.
Thing is so small you can charge your phone while it's in your pocket

It's interesting but I do not see the advantage over a spare battery for the S5- which is must smaller and lighter. It seems more useful for phones with non-removable batteries.
many companies like this one misuse kickstarter to help fund them in bulk buying these stuff from china, this charger has been available in china for a long time.

Buy it if you really want it, these days, many things are made in china.
Well the Chinese Charger and Pad I'm currently using on my S5 are working just fine. So I don't see the problem...

I still prefer my Lugulake though http://www.amazon.co.uk/LuguLake-Wi...tible-Including/dp/B00CY4SG10/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt
Double the capacity too, and it works like a dream. Used it with no issues on Nexus devices, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note, Nokia Lumias. Charging efficient seems pretty good too, with no excessive heating.
All QiPack did was to make theirs look like a *spit* iPhone *spit*. I wouldn't be shocked to see Apple sue them for copyright infringement
I have a few, but like to use this one alot, it's light and thin, but on the wide side, cost me only USD 8 each, got a few of them.
Has 5000mAh

hmm
what would be better, in my opinion, is if someone could develop a kinetic charging system that worked with the wireless charging receivers on devices.....as in, movement creates a charge that is stored in capacitors and transmitted to the charging receiver once a certain voltage/current level is reached....therefore keeping the phone at 100% for as long as the person/phone is moving.

Yup, this one is something that probably falls under as abusing kickstarter. The video is neat and all, but it's not a difficult project. Or this great idea. You can buy a Qi Charger off aliexpress and solder a 3.7v battery it it, then stuff it back inside the case and you have the same thing. You can buy the PCB itself and an old battery and make your own housing.
I'm sure if you look hard enough, it's already available too.

Apparently, kickstarter is lacking during these few years, this isn't the first project, i've seen many project abusing the system, there is no way to complaint unless you register, which I don't have the intention to.
