[Q] A NOOB who needs upgrade help

I have a verizon samsung s3 thats rooted and unlocked. For severel weeks i have been prompted to upgrade my device but every time i try it starts then stops about a quarter way thru and shows a dead android guy laying on his back. My phone restarts just fine with the old software still installed. I have looked for the officail jelly bean 4.1.1 rom so i can install it. But cant find it. Only can find custom. Can anyone point me to a official rom download or tell me how i can get my phone to just do it thru the update on my phone. Why is my phone having problems updating anyway. Im guessing it because of it being rooted or unlocked. Thank you for the help!!!! MY PHONE INFO!!!!! SCH-I535 ANDROID VERSION 4.0.4
There is no official Jelly Bean ROM yet. The update it just a different modem and some security updates. I would just flash a custom recovery and install a JB ROM.

I need official firmware download for I535VRLHE version of Verizon Galaxy S3?

Hi all. I'm new to the Android & I don't have the USB cable at the moment so I'm willing to update it manually. I bought this S3 from Craigslist in great condition. However, I can't seem to update it without service because when I tried to, it says, "Service Unavailable." In the androidcentral forum, they said I have to find the official firmware for my phone, rename it to "UPDATE" then put it on my SDCard root and then boot it into recovery mode so it can automatically update, but however, I can't seem to find my baseband version which is I535VRLHE.
I've looked everywhere for this firmware to no avail. Can anyone here provide me the link to a website that has my baseband? I need to update it in order for my phone to be unlocked with GSM. I'm running on a 4.0.4 right now and wanting to update it to Jelly Bean.
PS: Phone is not rooted and I don't want to root it either

[Q] Upgrade 4.0.4 to 4.1.2?

Howdy. I've got a Relay that I'm using on T-Mobile, which got upgraded OTA to Android v4.1.2 . But I have another, seemingly identical Relay that used to be on T-Mobile but doesn't have a SIM that is stuck on 4.0.4 . I use it for non-phone functions over Wifi. Using the phone settings it refuses to upgrade, saying "The device is up to date." I tried using a Windows machine with Samsung Kies installed (and upgraded), but Kies says "your device current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies".
I'm not really interested in rooting the phone at this point. I just want to upgrade to Android v4.1.2 so I can have the same apps on both stock phones. Any ideas?

Has the phone been previously rooted or modified? Usually that's why Kies would refuse to upgrade one.
In any case you can manually update it. The files are sprinkled around in the forum.

The phone hasn't been previously rooted or modified.
Where can I find the instructions and files to manually update it?

It's got no SIM, but it is on Wifi, and About device > Software update is what says "The device is up to date".

samfirmware and odin are apps for installing a firmware from a desktop? I don't have to root the phone or anything? I can find a stock 4.1.2 firmware for the Relay?

www.samfirmware.com is a place you can download firmwares for any Samsung Rom.
Odin is the program used to flash .tar images. You'll need Odin to flash things like stock firmwares and bootloaders like ClockworkMod (CWM)

[Q] Unlock JB 4.3

My tablet is stock with JB 4.3, want to get TWRP on it, and found that the unlock tool on asus site (both v7 and v8) are telling me "The device is not supported". I cant find a good solution to get this unlocked. Anyone have any ideas? Should I try and downgrade the stock rom back to 4.2? BTW: It is already prompting me to update to 4.4.

... in that case you do NOT have the TF700. There is no update to 4.4 for this tablet. Do you have the TF701T?
Download the correct unlock tool and it'll work - most likely.
You are correct <face palm>
Sorry, forgot my model number. Thanks!!!
