[Q] wifi disconected while sleep mode - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a problem with my wifi of samsung tab 2 p3100.. it is disconected when my device goes to sleep.. I need my wifi be connected all the time even in sleep mode.. I have set my wifi setting into always keep wifi on, but it keeps off when sleep mode... anybody can help me?

Hiya!
This is the default behavior of Android, whether it is shown as connected in status line and/or icons or not.
Either you select another ROM (Cyanogen for example, which really deactivate it) or you use a helper app to do this for you: search for "wifi keep alive" in play store...
(I assume you checked the wifi settings under "extended/advanced"?)

[Q] WI-FI doesnt turn off

Im having this recurrent issue where the wifi apparently is never off, I look in my battery stats and it just has one solid bar even tho I have been off of it for over a hour out of the 3 hrs ive had my device disconnected from the charger. Anyone else having this issue?
Do you mean "off it" as in away from your wifi or disconnected, or "off" as in disabled wifi connectivity?
The battery indicator shows "wifi on" as long as the wifi module is enabled. It will keep searching and trying to connect to known wifi networks even if you manually disconnected from a network or moved out of it's range.
There are apps such as "Juice defender" that will try to determine where you want to have Wifi and automatically turn it on/off based on your position and other factors.
Go into Settings/WiFi/Advanced and uncheck the "scanning always available" box. Juice Defender isn't required.

[App][4.0+] Auto Wifi - automates the wifi on your device

Hey, everyone. Here's a small app I made for myself and figured I might as well post it for anyone else who may want it. It's fully free, and does not track any of your information (which some similar apps out there required permissions I didn't view as necessary for this kind of app, and therefor a little fishy). I made the app to be a convenience thing and battery saver (I only want my wifi adapter to be on at home, and not turn back on again at work), so I'm open to any feature requests people may have to make it more convenient for you.
I call it Auto Wifi, here's a Play store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.psiincgames.autowifi
Going on the description I wrote for the Play Store:
Auto Wifi controls the wifi on your phone for you, turning it on and off as needed. This is both convenient and saves you battery life. Want to have your wifi turn on at home, but not at school or work? We can do that for you.
You have full control over how it will work, with control over everything from the scan interval times to which wifi ssid's to connect to. The optional notification setting helps keep Auto Wifi open in the background, and is as non-intrusive as possible. We hate unnecessary notifications just as much as you do.
It operates using 3 selectable modes:
"Auto on, auto off" - this mode will shut your wifi off when no signal nearby saved access point is detected, and turns it on whenever any wifi access point you've connected to before is nearby.
"Selective on, auto off" - this mode will only automatically turn your wifi on when your device can connect to an access point from a list that you select. Great for when you want your phone to connect to wifi at home but not at school or work. It will only shut your wifi off automatically when it isn't connected to anything, so you can still manually turn on your wifi without disruption.
"Auto off only" - lastly, this mode will only automatically turn wifi off, so you can have full manual control over when it turns back on again.
Description of permissions required:
"Run at startup" - as the name implies, this is needed so we can start Auto Wifi at device start up.
"Access Network State" and "Access Wifi State" - these are needed so we can check if you are connected to a wifi network. This lets us know when to turn wifi on or off, otherwise known as the 'Auto' part of Auto Wifi.
"Change Wifi State" - this is required so we can actually turn your wifi adapter on and off for you, otherwise this app would be pointless.

How to stop S6 autoconnecting to known Wifi points

Hi,
I'd like to know how to prevent my S6 from auto-connecting to known Wifi points and turning the Wifi on when it was previously off. I have a SM-G920I running Android 5.1.1 and build LMY47X.G920IDVU2COGA. It has not been rooted and is not a custom ROM.
I've done some searching around and lots of places mention the "Sprint" connection optimiser. However I do not have that on my phone so changing those settings doesn't help (the settings aren't there). I have the "Always Allow Scanning" on, Smart Network switch is disabled and Wifi is enabled during sleep.
I want to leave the scanning on so I can detect when I'm at various locations but don't want to turn the Wifi on and attempt to connect to the Wifi (as often I don't have access). Knowing the Wifi is there is enough but I don't want to autoconnect (if I want to connect, I'll connect myself!).
Any ideas?
Thanks,
ian

Joining wifi when in sleep mode

I've noticed my S7 will not join an existing wifi area when locked / sleep mode.
I have a WOL task that runs when the phone reconnects to a wifi access point. I have to turn the screen on then I notice the "connected to wifi" message come up.
I have excluded tasker from batter optimisation, but I don't think that is the problem. Also, wifi on during sleep is enabled.

Keep Wifi on during sleep -> does not work for me.

Hi,
i'm having Problem with the function "Keep Wifi on during sleep" on my S8+
Settings are:
Smart Network switch disabled
Wifi power saving mode disabled
Keep Wifi on during sleep: Always
But the wifi connection does not keep connected. To be more exact, the connection to the Accesspoint(mikrotik) stay's connected, but if i ping from a local computer, after about 300 ping's no more reply.
I need to ping the device for my home automatisation. (Owner is @home)
When i connect the phone to the power, the ping works fine all the time.
My Nexus 5X has the same problem. Android 8.0.0 (will do the update now)
Disabling the Mobile data does NOT help.
Stock rooted Rom.
Anyone else this problem? A custom rom?
Thanks
I have that problem on my work S8+, I think it may be mobileiron that's causing this though..
Any luck op?
