[Q] What is the best radio for cm10.1? - HTC Sensation

After upgrading my rom i have noticed that my reception seems to have dropped a fair bit. The cm10.1 rom thread doesn't say what the best radio to use is so i was wondering if anyone else might know which radio is the best.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Did you have a good signal before installing this ROM?
Are you s-off?
I have seen many people having signal problems on 10.1.

Well, my reception just seems to drop from time to time with this rom. Whereas the other rom seemed to be fine. So I figured that it might be the radio installed.
Edit: And yes I am s off

Hi,
I have the same problem with albino's ROM.
It is not my radio, because I get good reception with all other ROMS.
So,changing your radio will not help.
The problem is in the ROM.
It is also not permanent.
It varies a lot.
Maybe the ROM is not for you.

I like the rom a lot though, it's just the dodgy radio

Hi,
I have been on this ROM for some weeks now.
It has not been every version that has had bad reception.
So, maybe ,be patient, and wait for another version to come out.

Requesting Advice: LeeDroid Rom & Overall Speed.

I am typically a silent browser. However I need some assistance.
I currently have a t mobile Sensation and naturally s-off(Perm).
I am very familiar with flashing roms as I must have flash at least 20 roms with my N1.
If Sense is any different, regarding flashing then I'm having issues with my current speed.
All directions on downloading the latest rom and kernal have been followed, which prompted me to test my Dl/Ul speeds with speed test. I'm in a very good coverage area and on a stock rom I was averaging literally 8 dl/1.75 ul.-Mbps. No wifi.
On my modified rom I cannot get past 4 dl/0.75 mbps.
Now I understand we have a new set of oc that is built into the rom, however before I installed setcpu my speeds were not all the different.
Please advise what I am doing wrong.

wrong radio?
i have to agree, it might be your radio..make sure it is the newest radio and check your tmobile apn settings. try internet2.voicestream.com
hope this helps.

internet2.voicestream.com is NOT for 3G/HSPA/4G (whatever you want to call it). Must be epc.tmobile.com.

Fair enough, and appreciate the help. Now, this was a concern of mine prior to flashing as I did not even flash a new radio, as opposed to my N1 where I would go with the latest CM radio suggestion.
Where would I locate a radio as I still don't have rights to ask a Question in A&D, but interactions > date of registration.
you could try finding one in the custom rom topic you are using. Usually they will recommend which radio to go with the custom rom.
cheers!
Confirmed on the slower speeds, also using LeeDroid. My APN is epc.tmobile.com. Have flashed the latest radio..audio went back to shipping radio but problem persists.

Guys, try to manually put APN in.
thats why im still on stock rom s-off perm root. wants you start flashing custom roms thats when you lose everything your phone had from the start. its still in the early stage for custom roms for the sensation i will wait till around december before i flash thats enough time for devs to really work out the kinks. remember most off the roms here were maid before s-off so the devs really did not have a system to work on intill now

December wow lol. I'm running LeeDroid v1.1 w/ kernel v1.2 and it's already amazing. Everything works flawlessly and he got rid of the lag that was in the Stock TMo ROM. Plus Overclock'ed kernel w/ UV coming soon. ROM is super stable, fast as hell, and battery life is much better. To me it's a no brainier, nothing to lose.
Some of the Devs had S-OFF before we did, and most have been putting out ROMS long before the Sensation. No reason to wait til December but hey that's just my opinion!

I understand where you're coming from but the issue of people having problems isn't ever going to go away. That doesn't mean it's the ROMs/Devs fault. There are so many variables involved including a big one - the user.
Everything might work perfectly for one person, while there is a "bug" for another. Well that person may not have read the entire thread/wiped when supposed to/cleared data etc. All the things many of us who have been flashing a long time have learned to do by default before asking questions. I don't check all the other threads that often so I don't doubt you, but you never know until you try. You may flash now and have no problems. It's sorta like, if you don't want to "troubleshoot", why are you flashing ROMs to begin with?
Either way your answer of "this is why I haven't flashed a custom ROM" isn't helpful to the OP or any of us because we HAVE flashed custom ROMs
I'm toying with some build.prop settings as I did on my Nexus One and I'm seeing some improvement in speeds on LeeDroid.
I'll post more in a bit..

The problem has to do with the EURO base. After all my testing, this is why I am purely making TMOUS based roms.
XDA Member: Rsotbiemrptson - wrote to me, what discovered that all .RIL files and build prop from TMOUS had to be transferred to the EURO based rom for the speeds to match TMOUS HSPA+ speeds. Then repacked the zip, resigned and flashed.

Hmmm, interesting. Care to share? We could pass it on to LeeDroid for his ROM as well?
I think he is right
I believe the issue lies in not having the correct RIL, along with a few tweaks to the build.prop... Only thing is how do you extract the RIL from the stock ROM? I pulled the files I think go with it from \system\lib and \system\bin but I am kinda scared to flash this zip I made... haha
Oh just an FYI you can run getprop "gsm.version.ril-impl" on the Terminal Emulator and/or ADB shell the stock ROM is HTC-RIL 2.2.0159HMQ so I just need to learn how to pull the needed files and create a flashable zip that would install the correct RIL into a custom ROM... if someone far more experienced could tell me how... or if they just wanted to do it, have at!
Just ran a few Speed Test runs with the new LeeDroid ROM, and my TMOUS 4G speeds seem to be right where they should be for my signal strength here (at 2 bars, I'm getting about 4-5Mbps down, 2-3Mbps up).
I did do a Super Wipe before installing the ROM - could that have been a factor?
I'll try to do some more testing when I'm in a 4-bar signal area, just to be sure.

[Q] CM7 radios?

Hi everyone! I switched from a sense based rom to a cm7 one and never got the chance to install a different radio. Now from my understanding: not all radios will work best for everyone?
Anywho, I was just wondering what affects that and ultimately what radio I should use? Thanks!

Basically try and see.
The OP mentions 10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01 as that's what they tested against. I'm using 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2 and that seems to work about the same as the recommended one for me, I tried both.
Have a browse in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1258543 as that's where you'll get most info on CM7.

Data speeds = SLOW

Good afternoon everyone...
I am on AOKP build 34, and it seems like my data speeds are slow no matter what ROM i use. I can't break 3-4mbps. What is the best radio to use in Ohio? Anyone know?
I am coming from a sgs2 that used to get 15mbps, sometimes even higher. So, I know we have GREAT speeds in this area...just not on this phone.
Thanks in advance
Flash a new radio onto it.

Well, you have TMOUS... Here in Phoenix it would be GREAT to see 15mbps!! Perhaps your sgs2 just got better signals...
try flashing the latest one from this forum post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202867
In addition to a different radio/RIL pair, you can also try either of the TMOUS customer radio add on components from the link near the top of the first post of the Sensation radio/RIL thread also considerately linked above by x_SCOS_x_ELITE.
3-4 mbps? That would be fantastic. I'm seeing .02-.2 mbps. Yeah, you read that correctly. As is 20 kbps. All while seeing the "4G" symbol on the phone. T-Mobile quotes "Fast" mobile internet speeds in my area.
For the OP, I'd definitely try updating your radio and ril to the latest listed in the quoted thread above. I did it today and it definitely helped my speeds.
For the poster above me, if that's all you're getting I'd try all of the above suggestions, that's SLOW

Problem with data is solved via ICS-OTA update, if you are S-off you can use this one http://www.wuala.com/LuckyThirteen/Elegancia/OTA Update/
I had the same problem as you do, but as soon as i flashed this file....my data is blazing fast

Would that file be included in all of the ICS ROMs out there, such as VI, CM9, or Hypersensation?

To be honest with you i dont know i PRESUME it will , i do know that LeeDroid tweaks have it included, my (Elegancia) does have it..
Well, I've been considering about rooting and using a custom ROM. That data speed increase may be the final reason to do it. Averaging 20 kbps is just really, really slow.
Yep most of the ICS custom roms have it, I used to average 1-3mbps, I am now at 7-9mbps in the same place testing

ROM with best radio?

So I've noticed my phone's radio works best with stock roms. I was using CM10 until I noticed I kept having terrible signal and data drop. I miss CM lol. Does anyone know of a rom that is stock with the mods/customization as CM?

Your problem is not the radio itself... it is actually the radio interface layer thats causing the issue. Since kernel source is not available for jellybean yet, all aosp roms have a hacked ril and data drops is the result. I think cyanogen has it tweaked pretty good but some folks still have problems with data.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well. When JB comes out from Verizon I'm hoping that CM will use it for the d2vzw so I can go back!

Having an issue with my Tmo HTC One S (Rom issues)

I'm having an issue with finding the proper rom for my HTC One S. Until now, I've used TrickDroid, but I have issues with my phone restarting randomly when on calls after a month of use or so.
I'm looking for a new STABLE rom that is made to use on this handset, but am having issues finding ones designed for the T-Mobile One S. I used the search button on XDA to see if I could find an answer, but there didn't seem to be any results specific to my issue. Can any of you recommend a specific ROM that works well. I'm not a power user, and root so that I can use SetCPU to save battery life for the most part. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for reading.

hm trickdroid is (usually) a stable rom.
if you arent a power user, just install the latest ruu for your device/carrier. should be stablest rom for you.
or try this one, which is designed for tmo one s

That's what I'm trying to figure out. Not sure if it's my TWRP that's corrupted and now allowing proper rom installs, or if it's something else. It has me stumped. I've loaded Cyanogenmod 10.x and Trickdroid on it in the past, but now it's not letting me load either (as of yesterday). I'm giving it another go today, but if it doesn't work, I would have to believe that it's a corrupted recovery that needs fixed.
With that said, is there a way to update your recovery without having an OS loaded on the handset?
