Rooting help for my Kyocera Rise..please help I've been trying to get help 2 weeks no - General Questions and Answers

Okay, I apologize if this is in the wrong place, but I am a noob here. I used to have a rooted optimus v, I used gingerbreak for that, but now I have this Kyocera Rise. And for the longest time, I had no reason to root it, but now there are a few apps k want that require root access. I recently updated my firmware also (probably not good, I know). I have now tried so many rooting methods and none have worked yet. To name a few, I have tried z4root, superoneclick, the bin4nary script (or however it is spelled), a tweaked version of the bin4nary, framaroo, exynos abuse, and several other PC and app based ones. None are doing it for me. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me out here. My Android properties are; Android 4.0.4, version 1.004vm, kernal 3.0.8, model c5155. Kyocera Rise. If this helps at all I know that it is almost identical to how the Kyocera hydro is as far as version and firmware goes. And there is also absolutely nowhere in my settings where it specifies what firmware I have. Thanks in advance for any help!

I have already tried this, and just tried again. I wish I could copy and paste everything it says, but everything seems to fine, i click restore and it reboots, but the script says, "going to copy files to it's place. mount: permission denied (are you root?)"
It says after reboot it would be successful, but root checker says I do not have proper root access. What am I doing wrong?

You do have the debug bridge drivers and android SDK yes?

Well I downloaded the driver online, but each time I plug in my phone it says installing drivers and then it says failed. What exactly is android sdk?

thats where you are going wrong then. The drivers wont install without the android SDK installed (software development kit). The Root Many Android tool wont work without android debug bridge. Android debug bridge then requires both the SDK and the drivers again.
There is a good video tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33470626#post33470626
Install the android SDK (you will need to install the java development kit too, not just the runtime). Then attempt to install your phones drivers. And from there watch the video for the rest.

So I have now downloaded android sdk manager and eclipse but I still do not know what to do exactly. I. Used sdk manager and installed and updated all the stuff it said to but I don't know what else to do. The bin4ary script is still saying mount: permission denied (are you root?) What do I need to do? And thanks for all the help so far.

i dunno anything but there is the option of unlockroot.com theres an option to download pro version free. (tried to post link but im so much of a noob they said once i grow out of these diapers i can post a link in a thread.) if theres any issues or concerns please let me know about this root method. it worked for my galaxy rush that is a soft brick now due to downloading dr. dre beats audio. i have not yet tried it on this phone(kyocera hydro) i just bought it last night and dont have access to a computer. hope its not to late......actually i kinda do. that means you have root!

[Q] Android 2.3.1 Tablet - Gingerbreak not working

Hi, I have a 8" Tablet with Android 2.3.1 and Samsung S5PV210 processor.
I'm trying to gain root access, but I'm having particularry hard times doing it. Basically, I found I don't have the su command neither inside system/bin nor system/xbin directories.
All the root methods (I found till now) are based on a .bat file, but fail because su: command not found.
Gingerbreak fails too, it stays forever spinning trying to root, it crashes when I rotate the tablet; sometime, once every 5 attemps, it reboot the tablet, but fails to root it :\
What can I do, where can I find mor info on the rooting process?
Tnx.
exact same problem.... no one with a solution ?
Cant beleive no one answered this one yet

Same problem as well
Little help here ? ;-)

Might want to try reading through this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
If you can't find the answer there, then ask in that thread, those people know best how that method works.
I had the same problem... i tried them all, z4root, androot, gingerbreak, and super one click to no avail... I then stumbled on SUPER ONE CLICK 2.2 and it rooted first try no problem..
the S5PV210 CAN be rooted
I looked for three days trying to find a way to root this Chinese Samsung tablet knock off. Finally I used Super Click 2.3.3.0 You can find it at download.cnet.com
Download and unzip the file. I unzipped it to a USB stick -- just to make it portable.
You only have to connect the tablet to an XP computer with a USB cable. Then you must load the driver for the tablet when prompted by Windows. The driver has been provided for you. Just browse to the drivers folder in the unzipped software. Then run SuperOneClick.exe Click the Root button. Done.
Trust me. Skip all other advice. Nothing else could be easier than this.

[Q] Having Trouble Rooting LG Optimus 3D (P925G). Please help!

So I have a brand new LG Optimus 3D, locked to Rogers and running Froyo. I have tried every method I can think of to root this phone, but nothing seems to work.
To date, here is what I have tried:
SuperOneClick: This method fails miserably and SuperOneClick just freezes up every time I try to run it.
psneuter: this actually DOES work...however it does NOT permanently root the phone. Once I reboot, the phone is back to being unrooted.
I'm still new to the whole android mod thing, having only done this once before with my old HTC Dream. Is there a step I'm missing somewhere to permanently root my Optimus 3D? Is it even possible as of yet to root this phone?? Is there some kind of NAND lock on the phone that I don't know about and/or just haven't found yet?
Again, I AM new at this, so any answers or information you can give would be helpful.
check if you have .net framework for super one click and run it as administrator
don't forget tu set the usb debugging mode
heve rooted several optimus 3d like that never had any problems

Try to kill all adb servers..including Droid explorer if you have.....open task mng in your PC,and kill it all...after that try to root your phone....
I should also note I've done all of the above both in Linux AND in Windows (in this case it's a Windows VM in Virtualbox, however...not sure if that makes any difference)
Also, does it matter that this is the Canadian version of the LG Optimus 3D and not the one that was released in the EU?
Try this.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358257

Okay so here's the thing: ZergRush SEEMS to work. That is to say, if I run it manually via ADB, the exploit works and I get a root prompt when I log back into the adb shell. However any apps that need root on the phone still don't work. (example: superuser tried to download and install a new version of the su binary. It downloads fine, but then fails when it says "gaining root access")
I reckon using windows in virtual box is your problem. Try direct on a xp machine.

ROOTED! I ended up having to follow a guide on another forum which employed a batch script that deploys ZergRush PROPERLY. (I'd include a link to said guide...but since I'm new here, vBulletin is going all anti-spam on me saying I haven't posted enough.)
Basically all I did was manually execute each command in the batch one at a time.
Incidentally, for all you fellow Linux geeks out there, I'll be adapting the batch file into a bash script as soon as I have time.
SuperOneClick working fine too.

Did you manage to do this? I REALLY hate having to resort to using windows, especially as the phone is running Linux anyway! Lol

Android Maxell Maxtab C8 MID Tablet Google Play Fix

So here's how I did it:
Basically, with an Cortex A8 processor, the Maxell C8 tablet seems to be a slightly upgraded Allwinner A10, which is a bit cheaper than the Maxell tablet but then again Maxell really did package theirs nicely in terms of casing. But it's no secret - when you plug in the Maxell C8 with Windows 7 it shows clearly that it's a MID tablet. So essentially, my theory is that this method should work on all similar tablets such as Allwinner A13,A10 etc (although many of those come with preinstalled google play, as China, like me, doesn't give a **** about copyright). For reference, my tablet is running Android 4.0.4
Step 1. Root your tablet.
This took me a few times to figure out but this program called "Android Root Unlock" finally did it for me. You can get it from Source Forge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/androidroot/
Enable USB debugging (settings > developer options > Usb debugging). Then just connect your tablet to your PC via USB, wait until Windows recognizes the device. It should read "MID" in the device manager screen. The unpack the zip file you downloaded above on your Windows machine and run "ICS_Root_Unlocker.bat" it while the tablet is still plugged into USB. A black terminal window will open, just follow the instructions from there. Your tablet will restart - that means it probably worked, don't close the program yet but follow what it says to the end until the terminal window closes. Now you can unplug your device.
Step 2. Install modded Google Play
Now you can go ahead and follow the instructions on xda-developers.com:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1650116
That's it! Google play now works like a charm and I can download stuff directly from Google Play without problems
Here's my full blog post: http://truthtech0.blogspot.com/2013/03/android-maxell-maxtab-c8-tablet-market.html
Thanks for your efforts, I'll give it a try. I was going to try Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry, but as you've confirmed it works, I'll use Android Root Unlock.
I think it's running Jelly Bean, it's my dads tablet. I'll see him tomorrow.

Anyone managed to install either a recovery image or a custom rom on the maxtab?
I've rooted mine but cannot get fastboot to work and unable to load a recovery image. Adb is working OK. Tried clockworkmod but device is unsupported.
gadget19, what happened to yours, why do you need to recover or use custom rom?

I tried the google play fix but its not working for me. I wanted to use a custom rom so that I get google play to work correctly and also to try out 4,2 features.
Hi, thank you for your guide.
Unfortunately i'm unable to complete it because when i connect the maxtab c8 to a windows 7 system it doesn't find the MID driver so the root bat doesn't find the device.
Do you have any hint in how to complete the procedure?
Thank you.

Thanks for the hint; I was able to execute the bat file but i still have some problems.
The procedure looks like complete but if I open Root Explorer and try to do some changes in \system\app it just tell me that it's in read only mode.
Tried root check pro and it's all red...
superuser installed
sbin/su: permission denied
system/bin/su: no file
system/xbin/su: Setuid attribute present and root user ownership present. Root access is correctly configured for this file! Executing this file can grant root access!
system/xbin/sudo : no exsist
su binary not found or not operating correctly
Tried to run the su file in system/xbin/su as a script on the tablet and via adb without any changes. Checked a bit online but i'm a bit stucked since my other android device (lg p500) was much easier to root.
If you have any idea i't will be very helpful. Thank you.
Ok solved.
To easy root the maxtab c8 (android 4.1) i used the RK29 tab tolkit v1.3: easy and fast.
Now i have problem installing the play store...
I followed the guide but since i don't have any Vending.apk or phonesky.apk in system/app i just copied it without a backup, rebooted but nothing happened.
Need more testing.
Ok play store installed and working.
I didn't use the apk linked in the first post, i had to use this one instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1934441
The method is the same (copy in system/app, set the permission as rw-r--r-- and then reboot) just use the apk i linked.
Hope this help someone.:victory:

If it comes to that option I need to be able to use a rooting program on my computer that does not require internet the only internet I am able to use is the libraries. I have a laptop but no charger so my laptop is dead. I'm not a noon when it comes to rooting as I've mentioned I've done it before. Just need help finding a root for this tablet. I appreciate any help I get and thank you. If you need more info feel free to ask. I've also looked at the topic about the 4GB but its not that helpful is why I created my own topic.

I was able to root it by first installing the pdanet drivers (for adb access). And then using the kingo app, which you can get from http://www.kingoapp.com/.
Its free but closed source. I found it via this youtube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MiZtZCqu4k
Worked even with the 1.0.2 update installed (which I have no clue what it did (17MB).

how are you turning on usb debugging? I also have this tablet(purchased on black Friday from Walmart like everyone else) and mine doesn't seem to have that option anywhere. in fact, compared to the previous two android products I have, this device seems to lack ALOT of available functions. though I am capable of navigating a recovery menu at boot. but that doesn't do me any good for using pdanet. that seems to be my biggest road block. pdanet wont install because the onl;y way I can allow my device to connect to my pc with adp is using the adp updater in the recovery boot menu.

It is a hidden option that needs to be enabled. Follow this guide: www ninjaromeo com / enable-usb-debugging-developer-options-jelly-bean/
I just enabled this option on my Walmart BF 7" RCA RCT6378W2 tablet.
Sorry I had to mangle the link because XDA wont let me link external sources yet.
Glad I could help a few. Now, someone get on a functional recovery ;p
I have poked around a little at the stock recovery, backing it up, etc.. But am not brave enough to try and get CWM working on it.
I was able to use th Xposed framework for a few mod's no problem. Battery mod, reboot menu, hide navbar, etc.. But Xposed can only do so much.
Edit: I heard on reddit this tool also works for rooting. I have not tested it (already rooted with the other method).

On a side note...if you repeatedly tap the android version...a cute picture of the android jellybean will appear. Try it.

1: Install drivers. Seeing as RCA does not provide drivers, we had to find some that work. That's where PDANET comes in. Their drivers support a very wide range of Android devices. We are not installing it to tether. We just want the drivers it provides. So download PDANET, install, let it detect your device, install the drivers, and then afterwords you can uninstall it.
2: Enable Developer Options. Settings>About tablet> Tap Build Number a bunch of times till it's enabled.
3: Enable USB Debugging. Options>Developer Options>Click On (up top)>Then checkmark USB Debugging
That should clear up some of the confusion in this thread. How you root after step 3 is up to you. Personally, I did it with Kango. Which was straight forward. Connect device, hit a button, Say yes to a couple questions, reboot, presto done.

Thanks, that sorted things out.
To make clear, and aid in any other inquiries, I managed to find an ADP connection mode, among other android update features. with the device off, hold volume up while turning the device on. it should boot to an image of an android with an open chest panel and the words, "no command". if you push volume up again it will provide you with options and instructions on how to execute. you can manual update the device with an SDK through USB ADP mode this way. I'm not sure if that makes anything simpler or generates a work around but I hope it helps with future development for this device.
Well got root now we need a recovery...
For some reason when trying to make sure I can send adb commands to my tablet, I am showing no devices connected. I check in device manager and it shows up as Android ADB interface for the tablet. KingGo
KingGo worked for me with no problems, Make sure that USB Debugging is enabled and Unkwown Sources is enabled. My Tablet is the 16GB version and has KitKat- still no problem with KingGo. Now I need A good Custom Lollipop ROM- anyone have one?
Mobogenie
I was advised to use Mobogenie by another member of this forum it was very easy and worked quickly. One button push to root.
