[Q] I am a twat, need help! (Can't flash RUU) - HTC One S

Hi,
I thought I start with a confession: I am a twat!
I bought a HTC One S (unlocked but originally Telus Canada), unlocked the bootloader, rooted and installed CWM 5.something.
So far so good. I then tried to install Android_Sense_Best_Stock_v3.0_By_BehradGH but didn't properly read that I need to flash the boot.rom as well (twat!). Of course it all went pear-shaped and I did the recovery from Nandroid which worked out o.k. But then (ueber-twat!) I tried another ROM (no idea which one) and the result was that when I tried to get into recovery the CWM screen quickly flashed up but then the phone reset itself.
To cut this story, I tried various RUU files (incl the Telus one:RUU_Ville_U_TELUS_WWE_1.70.661.1_Radio_0.16.31501S.02_10.18.31501S.08L_release_254554_signed) but always get the 155 Error. I saw that relocking might solve the problem (hence bootloader now locked again = now CWM anymore)
Inbetween I formatted everything (cache, sdcard etc) via CWM (as long as I had it). Sadly I wasn't able to access the sdcard afterwards to mount and copy ROM.zip there etc.
Currently my phone reads
TAMPERED
RELOCKED
VLE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.13.0000
RADIO-0.17.31501S.10_2
OpenDSP-v28.1.0.32.0504

Choosing RECOVERY as mentioned doesn't work.
I tried various tricks with the One S All-in-one-toolkit but no success.
Once again, I am a twat and hope that you guys can help!
Thanks,
Chris
ps. Had a HTC One X as well, flashed different ROMs without any problems but perhaps I was just lucky!

You need to flash back to stock recovery:
http://loadbalancing.modaco.com/download.php?file=ville_recovery_signed.img
Use the One S Rootkit to flash the img file above as it's the easiest method. Then, once you reboot into recovery you should see the default recovery image & be able to flash your RUU
Good luck!

Just download the image file for TWRP (CWM is crap, dont use it) and use fastboot to flash it - fastboot flash recovery imagefile.img, then reboot to recovery, install your desired rom, go back to fastboot and fastboot flash boot boot.img, reboot phone and the new rom should start within 10minutes (yes, it can take that long on first boot up).

Step forward
Thanks guys,
I think I am going a step forward:
I installed the stock recovery (after unlocking the bootloader again ...) but now I get the 170 USB error and have that bl00dy HTC MCP Device that cannot start.
I googled the issue, deinstalled all USB drivers but when I connect the phone again, it automatically installs this driver again.
Any idea how to get around this? (Windows 7 32bit)
Thanks again!
Chris

Install HTC sync... Your missing drivers for adb on your PC... After you get HTC sync installed if I remember correctly your phone needs to be in fastboot USB mode to flash ruu...if your locked and have stock recovery with HTC sync in stalled and you are in fastboot USB if you get an error running ruu then you have the wrong ruu... The one your trying to flash can not be a lower hboot.. It needs to be the same or higher..

I agree with droyd. The hboot has been upgraded to 1.13 since the 1.84 OTA in the fall. Correct if I'm wrong but the RUU (1.70) that you are trying to flash has hboot 1.06. So you will need to either downgrade you hboot or flash the 1.84 RUU, which is nowhere to be found online. I've been looking everywhere for RUU_Ville_U_ROGERS_WWE_1.84
Good luck

I'm not sure if a T-Mobile ruu will work or not.. Sounds like there is not a lot you can do I don't think the ruu you need isnt even released.. If that's the case you need to find a way to unlock it again... It will be near impossible to do any thing with your system wiped..the way I see it is you have three options, 1 try to find someone who has a nandroid backup of a 1.84 ruu....2 find a way to unlock it with no system installed...3 use it to stop your papers from blowing away.. If you get it unlocked pm me and we'll get you going..otherwise... I'm sorry for your loss..

Please check this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772650
It seems that Clonz has a nandroid backup of Telus stock 1.84. The link is in a post on page 1. Good luck

If you're only getting the error when running the RUU, but the computer can still see the phone, you could re-unlock it and just install a custom rom instead right?

CID error after flash generic rom, stuck in boot loader

Right, had desire s from three, alpharevx'd it installed clockwork mod, flashed eng hboot. Tried to flash RUU 1.47 europe on it, and it started to work and go through process, updated radio fine, then came up with CID error. No option to do anything but exit. Now I have a desire s that will boot into Bootloader, which has now s-on'd itself and upgraded to 0.98.0002.
Only method of comms seems to be via fastboot.
Now i cant flash the h3g one cos its too low a bootloader version, and i cant upgrade to a newer version cos one don't exist. Can anyone come up with a solution please??
Cheers.
What does HBOOT screen say (in full)?
Are you still able to get into recovery? If yes, then have you tried loading a custom ROM onto the SD card and simply flashing that using the flash zip from sd card option of CWM (clock work mod)?
Unfortunately I am unable to get into recovery, only bootloader, nothing else works. Hboot is displaying a security error at the top highlighted in pink, followed by the version number as described
You should have stuck with the alpharev hboot, which does not allow itself to be overwritten by RUU installs.
Anyway, you need to:
- install hboot 0.980000 (so you can run alpharevx again and get S-OFF)
- run alpharevx and reinstall CWM at the end
- DO NOT install the eng hboot
- flash whatever rom whichever way you want. Your hboot is safe
Follow the instructions on:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187231
How can I run alpharevx when I can only boot into bootloader tho?
Try running it while in bootloader. Never tryed it that way, but I'm pretty sure it only needs the USB comms to be up, same as adb. Which they should be anyway in bootloader...
Have you tried to re-setup your phone by executing one of the RUU.exe?
k, as i expected, with no access to adb in bootloader mode, i am unable to do anything. Remember, i only have bootloader to work from. I don't eve3n have a recovery partition installed, it just comes back to bootloader whatever i choose, well, bootloader and fastboot anyway.
yup, tried running the ruu again but to no avail. Just get cid error. And i can't make a goldcard either cos i cant get the code. Might just send it back i think and act dumb :/
What about using the "normal" upadte procedure? Placing the PG88(whatever).zip on the root of the sdcard, and have the bootloader install it?
Of courtse with S-ON, it must be a signed version...
If all else fails s-off with xtc clip then flash custom rom

Have you tried to use the original RUU for your phone/network? I'm not sure if it would take care of the CID error.
Any of these:

I do not expect this to work, but you said you are able to get into recovery, correct?
Well, I would try to enter fastboot mode and try to flash cwm via fastboot -> fastboot flash recovery XXXXXXXX.img
Correct (windows) drivers installed?

Good suggestion! Try this one first.
The problem with trying my original ruu for my network is that it contains the lower hboot version, when i flashed the generic ruu earlier, it actually started the update and flashed the radio part, then informed me the cid error, of course, by this time it had updated the hboot too. So now i have a desire s with an upgraded hboot so i can't flash a new one because of cid error and i can;t go back cos it reports a hboot version error. Where do i look on the system for the p88ing.zip now? can't remember now!
I haven't run a RUU in years, but I think that when you run it on a windows machine, it extracts a bunch of files to a directory. Cancel the process, find the directory, find th PG88... in the directory... You get the drift.

It is not relevant which network you are using !!! Just try newest RUU to get control over your phone again in the first place!
Even if you don't get any network access after setup newest RUU you will definitely be abte to execute alpharevx again, flash cwm and flash any stuff you want to.

I guess that means you tried flashing recovery via fastboot?
Then concentrate on our RUU-suggestions.
Yes, as i said, flashed via fastboot, and i already explained that i cant up/down grade via ruu method because of bootloader version. I can't think of a way out of this as it stands. The only thing that may work is doing it via the p88img method with my original 3uk rom, but i cant find it in my temp files, searched everywhere for it. I've seen it's location posted on here before now, and i've searched it to death and can't seem to find it now
I'm going to extract and upload your 3GUK-PG88*.img although I think you'll need an newer one. Just a few minutes of patience.

Desire S in one real mess...

Hi all, well i was playing with my Desire S trying to install the generic wwe rom on it since it is brands, and ended up messing up the phone real badly.
Well i used the good old way of creating a gold card and then flash the RUU. The first time went well, i flashed the generic 1.28.401.1 rom on it, retaining the 0002 boot it had.
Then i went to flash the 2.10 wwe RUU and this time things went bad. For some reason the gold card powers were not evoked and it gave me "CID error" but, the all mighty 2.00.0002 hboot was flashed on the phone before it gave the error. So i had to downgrade the bootloader and i used this great guide as a help but once again things went wrong.
I flashed a pre rooted RUU 2.10 rom using 4EXT recovery as the guide tells to do but, i have no wi-fi and usb connection on the rom. This means i got no way to connect the phone to a pc to change the misc_version file and don't even have wi-fi. So i end up asking for any help here as the phone is left in a very bad situation that i can't see the way out...
Try to reflash same ROM again.

I believe you should have named your thread "I really messed up my Desire S", as the current title is sort of misleading ;-).
In your place I'll try flashing an older ROM, even your initial one and start over. If you still have acces to 4EXT recovery you just have to take out your sdcard, put it on a pc and copy the rom that way (since USB not working). Or you can try to activate USB drive within 4EXT recovery, maybe it'll work.
If you don't have 4EXT recovery, you can try flashing recovery.img (from 4EXT zip file) or a rom by renaming them as PG88IMG.zip and place them on the card (via PC). If you boot to bootloader and try to flash them using the flash procedure for radio, it might work like this.
Sorry if I am saying a stupid thing but this is what I'll try if I had these issues.

Well the initial ROM i had on the phone was a branded Vodafone PT and i can't find that ROM anywhere and for some reason goldcards are not working after the bootloader was flashed by the RUU.
I still have the 4EXT recovery and usb works in it. Flashing a ROM via the PG88IMG only works if the RUU has the right CID as the phone is branded, now i don't know if flashing a rooted ROM using that procedure will work. The other thing i may try is flashing an older rooted ROM, like the 1.28.401.1 and see if the wi-fi and usb works.
Well what i can say is that the phone is completely cursed and i can't find a way out of this.
I tried to flash an older rooted ROM, 1.48 and the same thing happened, no wi-fi and usb connection.
I tried to flash custom ROMs then. Even worse, the phone doesn't boot, gets stuck on the htc logo. I tried more ROMS and the same happens.
Flashing official RUU will not work due to the CID error. All i end up is that i can't put the phone to work, simple as that. The only chance i think is to send the phone to HTC and tell them that a screwed the system and want them to flash it all again. I don't know how much that will cost but it seems to be the only way out.

Return it if you still have warranty. If not, read on:
1. Check you HBOOT if it got updated to the new one.
2. If it is updated, I suggest to flash the pre-root 2.10.5 ROM. Then see if it is going to work.
3. If it does, downgrade from there if you still want to.

Yes it has warranty but im sure it will not be covered since i was the one who messed up the phone system.
Another thing i can do, but this is not a certain option, is to wait and see if alpharev can find a way to S-OFF the new hboot with revolutionary and then open a way to flash the RUUs again and older bootloaders.
But i am more looking to sending it to HTC. Does anyone have an idea how much does it cost to reflash the system on the phone?

It would really help if you have given your bootloader details.\
Things you still can do:
1. If hboot is updated to 2.00.0002, then you need to unlock it, flash custom recovery via fastboot, flash custom rom, usable phone.
2. If hboot is S-OFF, same as 1 but skip unlocking. Again, usable phone.
Also, there are a lot of ways for you to change your hboot once you are S-OFF. Use search.
You are able to install custom roms, but the phone doesn't boot? And the 1.47 pre rooted boots but no WiFi?
You unlocked the phone with HTC.dev.
Steps:
- pick a custom Rom, any Rom
- extract boot.img from that Rom
- flash the Rom in recovery
- do not reboot
- flash boot.img using fastboot command from your computer (search around for instructions)
- reboot and enjoy
The problem is your phone is still s-on, and blocking the kernel from being written during normal flash. You end up with old kernel and new un-matching modules and libs.
I could be wrong though...
Cheers

Well i can say that this has worked. I flashed the boot.img form the CM7 rom and it worked perfectly, it booted CM7 rom and have wi-fi and usb connection. Now the only thing left is to be able to flash official RUUs passing tne CID error which for some reason the Goldcards are not bypassing.
But many thanks for your help

That's a tough one to nail down. Below is the stock recovery from the 1.84 t-mobile OTA. Maybe flash that and try the clear storage option.
Also, you might try doing the the Mainver Fix in the all in one tool kit. It's an option in the box in the lower right hand corner.

This same thing happened to me at some point. I would suggest just starting over and redoing all the steps.
0. Flash original radio
1. Flash stock recovery
2. Use stock recovery "clear storage" option
3. Factory reset.
4. Enable usb debugging
5. Uninstall usb drivers from your computer
6. Reinstall HTC USB driver
7. Lock bootloader
8. Switch usb cable
9. Run RUU.
If that doesn't work use a hammer and smash the thing =)
Actually instead of using a hammer I would change to super cid and use a different RUU that had the same hboot as the one your on.
Extract the Rom.zip from the RUU, rename to PJ40IMG.zip, place on root of SD card.

@usaf22 really? Did that method work for you?(thought it may not work because we don't have s-off) Did it also remove the tampered and relocked banners? Thanks for both of you guys help will give it a go.

I have this exact same problem. The recovery cannot be flashed. I get a signature failed. I managed to download the the recovery just fine though. I need to flash the stock recovery so that I can do that latest update, but now I can't even enter the recovery. I get a security warning message next to Relocked everytime I try to get in... Awesome.
PS: The phone I already tried the RUU and I got a 155. Because you can only downgrade if you are S-OFF. So... What are we supposed to do now..?

I'm going to assume that by now you have taken off the phone everything you wanted to back up. You flashed the stock recovery onto the phone right? And now your bootloader is relocked?
If so do this:
enter fastboot
then select the bootloader option.
clear storage
factory reset
select fastboot again.
Run the RUU

I got it working guys, but I know why. I was using the incorrect RUU. The link said it was the one for 1.83 but it was for the 1.5 version. I download it again and sure enough it's the 1.83 one. I guess I'm back to work now.
One question and this may save a big headache lol... did you LOCK your bootloader back? I had a couple RUU's that didn't work for me either, but I didn't follow the step of locking the bootloader I was just trying to flash over. Once I relocked I was good to go.

Your problem is that there is only 1 RUU you can use. Only 2 exist for T-mobile US and one you can't use because the hboot is lower then yours. But you're kinda lucky that a new OTA came out today. So a newer T-mobile US RUU should be out in a few days, that's normally how long it takes football to get them.
Here's a link to eh 1.83 RUU that should be fast. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/76257867/RUU_Ville_U_TMOUS_1.84.531.2_R2_Radio_0.16.31501S.16_2_10.22.31501S.10L_release_263233_signed.exe
Our you can try to get the OTA. You should be able to see it now if you check for software updates but it should fail to install. I saw you're using the 1.06es radio. You'd have to go back to the original radio, recovery, lock the booloader and factory reset. For it to work.
I know you should be able to get it working I was stuck where you're at but my Hboot also said "Security Warning" and RUU's & OTA's wouldn't run which I really haven't seen anyone else get.

[Q] stuck on splash-screen

Hey guys
I've got a bit of a situation. A friend of mine gave me this sensation (carrier T-mobiel) wich was all but bricked. Since I have some experience rooting and flashing custom ROMs, he asked me to give it a try at reviving it.
The owner had been messing around a bit himself and he managed to install clockwordmod recovery. Don't know if he installed any ROM, the device gets stuck on splashscreen.
I did the following; full format, superwipe and install a ARHD ROM. result was te same; stuck on splash-screen.
Then I did another full format, wipe and installed Cyanogenmod, still the same result.
I wanted to try and install 4EXT touch recovery, but the device doesn't respond to any USB connection method so ADB won't work. there's no working ROM so installing through the app won't go either. basicly, I don't know if there's a way to uninstall and install a recovery through flashing.
I have another phone to use to store required files on a SDcard.
these are the things dat DO work:
Bootloader, fastboot and clockworkmod recovery v5.8.0.9
this is the device's bootloader information

my guess is that I'm trying to install ROM's that don't work with the current firmware. I don't know if the owner installed the OTA ICS before he got these problems. But I don't know what firmware is currently on this this device, and how to check it.

Hi,
2 things you can try.
1.Run a GingerBread RUU.
Look HERE
2.If that works,try s-off.
Look HERE
Then, you could change firmwares and do whatever you like.
Hi Malybru,
I understand what you suggested and I'm currently working on it. Only I can't find the right RUU for this phone.
Current CID is: T-MOB003
getting it superCID'd was no go since I can't get it S-OFF with the revolutionary utility. is there another way to S-OFF the phone besides revolutionary?
edit: I downloaded and executed a RUU that apearantly wasn't compatible with the phone. I'm guessing it removed whatever ROM was installed, but didn't install the ROM from the RUU.
I also followed step 3; RUU to restore stock up to the part of relocking the bootloader. I didn't come any further cause I can't find the right RUU.
the phone now only boots into bootloader with "security warning" displayed below "relocked".
I'm guessing, if I find the correct RUU with gingerbread, things will be okay again.
on a sidenote, does a RUU install also returns the recovery to stock?

Hi,
RUU does not matter too much as long as it is Europe and GB.
If you can find a dutch tmo ,then even better.
No harm will come if it is the wrong one.
It will only throw up an error.
This will at least get a ROM on your phone,so that you can s-off .
Revolutionary is the easiest way to s-off.
so, to summarize:
the RUU has to be TMO for either UK or EU. Does the radio need to match the one that's currently displayed in the bootloader?

Hi,
The closer the match, the more chance of success.
But close will do.
Yes,with the same radio.
finding a dutch RUU with this radio for TMO is pretty challenging. So I tried it with a german version (DE). Other then that it matches the radio, and the carrier.
the first method through the RUU.exe failed, it tells me to get the right RUU for my carrier/phone.
So I tried it through flashing with a SDcard. I changed the CID in the notepad file in the PG58IMG.zip to T-MOB003. In bootloader, it checks the file twice and after that nothing happens, the regular bootloader screen is prompted.
Then I tried to flash it through fastboot CMD command, pretty much my last option according to the guid you linked me. This also fails with the notification that it failed to verify 12 signatures.
now I found some universal firmware packages but they don't seem to contain any ROM and recovery, only firmware. are there any of these universal packages as complete RUU?
or is there a way to bypass the signature check with a fastboot command?

Hi,
Try the European RUU with the 10.14 radio that matches yours.
Add your CID in the PG58IMG text file.
Make sure you have the phone in fastboot when you attach your USB cable(it should say "fastboot USB"),and start running the RUU from your PC.
http://db.tt/A7lS7PaD
Here is a link to 4ext touch recovery as a IMG. http://db.tt/KFKpcrhB and here is a pg58img.zip. put the zip file onto the sdcard and boot to boot loader. It will hopefully flash the recovery. If not fast boot flash the IMG. Once you have the recovery installed enable smart flash and then flash the roms. Hopefully that will work for you

tnx for the files.
I tried the suggestions you made but flash from sdcard doesn't work; it checks the file once and doesn't do anything after it.
when I try to flash either one of the files through fastboot I get signature verification fail.
my bootloader says RELOCKED, I got that after following step 3.1 in the RUU flash guide to return to stock. I don't know if this is blocking anything from being flashed with the nasty signature notifications?
also, most like because nothing is installed on my device, when I plug in the USB cable when it's turned off, it automatically swithces on displaying SECURITY WARNING below RELOCKED.
Damn, wasn't fast enough. I'm not sure what the best way to approach this is. Either attempt to full s-off the device with revolutionary/ jupuntobear, or re-unlock your boot loader with htcdev, then fastboot flash the recovery. Then install the rom. Then run jupuntobear to full s-off
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
heavy_metal_man said the right thing. First focus on unlocking it on hTCdev.com and afterwards, flash a 4Ext Recovery to make things easyer. Then put the device in bootmenu (not in the Graphic shell) and attach a USB, start any Official European RUU that is Gingerbread - with 1.50 in the numbers.
an update
I managed to get it unlocked again with htcdev.com. After that I flashed 4EXT recovery, succesfully.
only thing now I need to do is installing a ROM. I tried the following without succes so far:
with RUU
I can't find a dutch RUU for TMO with radio 10.14.9035 anywhere so I tried the closest match possible, a german one. through the .exe method I get incompatibility errors. So I extracted the ROM/.zip, added my CID and tried with SDcard flash and fastboot flash, both unsuccesfull. Hboot checks the file twice and does nothing afterwards, and fasboot prompts the message "FAILED (remote ** unknown fail)"
Universal firmware package to make sure I'm on 3.32, so I can install ARHD 6.7.2 or any other ICS rom
I took one from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21711154#post21711154.
I get the same errors as when I was trying to flash the ROM.zip from the RUU, both with sdcard flash and fastboot flash.
a random Gingerbread ROM
I found this GB ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226564.
I installed it through EXT4. after a reboot it's stuck in a bootloop. No splash screen is shown however, it get's to the withe-field-green-HTC-screen and reboots after, showing the same.
I don't understand what's wrong. I got a good recovery now and the bootloader is unlocked. For some reason the ROM's I tried are incompatible with the current state of the device and I can't figure out why. are dutch T-mobile branded phones so tough to crack or what?
also, after a certain step wich I can't remember, my bootloader doesn't display a radio anymore.

EDIT: I would be less restricted in my actions if the damn thing were to be S-OFF. is there any way to get get S-OFF through bootloader/fastboot? All the S-OFF methods and utillities I found so far need the device to have a ROM running.
SOLVED
with help of KGS1992, I managed to restore the device.
- installed a stock GB ROM since I was on hboot 1.18, and to get root acces
- aquired root through adb
- gained S-off with revolutionary
reason why I couldn't manage this before is because I didn't have a genuin stock ROM.
tnx all for the help

Glad you got sorted pal and thanks for letting us know

In a really big trouble (Need help with returning to stock ROM)

So... I got excited about flashing my HTC sensation. I had done it before with ZTE blade and it wasn't that hard.
Long story short... I flashed the ROM, all went succesfully, but now I'm stuck in a bootloop. I can restart to clockwork recovery though. So I'm hoping it's still possible to get back to stock ROM. In that I need your help. I need to get information about which stock ROM to download, and how to flash it. I can't get to home screen to use USB sharing. Neither does Clockwork recovery usb sharing work.
Im stuck with putting the memory card to my other phone, putting the needed files on the memory card and then switching the memory card back to my HTC.
I've searched for hours and hours in google for help, but haven't found anything to match my situation. I have no idea what to do.
I've tried formatting system, wiping system and cache and then running CM10, bootloop. Formatted system, cache etc and flashed CM9, bootloop.
I have no idea what to do.
PLEASE HELP!
Did you flash firmware?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
Are you sure your s off? Otherwise enable smartflash within 4ext.
So my HBOOT version is 1.27.0.0
And i did the Token ID thing, wasn't that putting it to S-off?
How to check if my firmware is updated? I think I did it but I'm not sure. Tell me the things you need to know.

If you were able to find your HBOOT version you should also be able to see whether you're s-off or s-on, copy down all the information that appears when you boot into bootloader and post it here.
You need 3.33 firmware from here. Read well before flashing.
Learnings for the future, always nandroid backup before wiping!

Ok so in order to flash a ROM you either need to be s-off or get 4EXT recovery and enable smart-flash.
Again, you need the correct firmware so please make sure you get what you need from the link in my first reply.
As you are S-ON and HTCDEV Unlocked, you need to flash the 4EXT Recovery, enable smartflash in the settings and flash the rom. Then you will be fine! Follow this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861

You are far from bricked. You need to get into recovery and mount usb storage. You can probably do it in clockworkmod but I've never used it so I don't know, if you're having trouble get 4ext recovery (since you do have a way of getting stuff onto your sd as you said in your first post), and you can toggle usb storage from there.

I understood from the 4ext recovery that you need to get usb connection working, without it, there's pretty much nothing to do. I can only get things to my sd card with my other phone, but since i'm s-on, i can't flash it from cwm. At least that's what I've understood. I'm starting to get annoyed. I really don't have money for another phone, and I know that I was really stupid to even try flashing.
If there is a way still, I'm gonna try it, but I can't establish usb connection. When I connect my phone to usb in CWM, it says drivers couldn't be installed.

The thing is, I can't get an usb connection to my phone AT ALL. And I'm stuck in a bootloop and I'm S-ON without a backup. You can still flash 4ext via fastboot. Go to this thread and some way down the OP look for the line "there's a direct download for a version you can flash via fastboot".
Are you familiar with adb? You need to download the recovery.img using the link above and flash it via adb. Read this.
If you are in fastboot and connect your cable, does it read "fastboot USB"? You can flash 4ext from fastboot!
Did you follow the steps from the guide I linked before? You are already unlocked, install the 4ext recovery, enable "smartflash" in settings and flash the Rom you have chosen.

Ok so when you first boot into bootloader you should have:
HBOOT
<VOL UP> to previous item etc. etc.
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
Then by selecting FASTBOOT you should be able to connect your usb cable and it will change to FASTBOOT USB. If not you need to be sure you have the correct drivers properly installed on your PC.

I'm getting real tired, have to go to sleep, but on a quick glance it seemed that with fastboot and adb, you need to have somekind of connection with the pc, right? You can't push commands to your phone without a connection? And I can't get to usb-debugging. I can only use CWM, and it doesn't help.
I'm starting to loose hope, but I'll try to check those threads tomorrow, maybe tomorrow I can save my phone, maybe not.
But thanks alot guys, a really REALLY friendly community. I know it ain't fun trying to help people with their problems, but I appreciate what you're trying to do

Yep, you need to be connected to your PC via USB, with drivers installed (I used this) and FASTBOOT selected in bootloader, at which point it SHOULD say FASTBOOT USB.
At this point you can use fastboot commands to flash the recovery.img I previously linked you to, then you will have 4ext recovery and you will be able to set up smart flash to allow you to flash whilst s-on. Only once you get to that stage can you start thinking about flashing firmware and custom ROMS.
And don't lose hope, plenty of phones have been resurrected from far worse conditions. Just requires some patience and careful reading. Don't do anything until you make sure you understand what it is you're about to do.

From fastboot, along your usb cable connected and htc drivers/adb are installed, you use the fastboot command: "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" that's how you can push the recovery on your device. (actually you should have just clicked on the link you quoted and would have found the answer.)
